Install via USB won't toggle on - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

After doing a factory reset I can't get the install via usb feature under developer options to enable. It appears this is being controlled by Xiaomi and for some reason the servers are not responding.
I tried all the tricks I could find but nothing seems to work.
Does anyone know a workaround or a way to enable this without the verification procedure?

I am experiencing the same problem

MTP Driver Install Issue

Hi All...
Not sure if this is ROM related, ie a bug, but I seem to have trouble connecting as MTP. I know I connected before changing to the Jelly Thunder ROM as MTP without issue. I connect my phone to the usb port and its set already to PTP and then I try to switch it to MTP and it automatically unselects itself and selects PTP again.
Things Ive tried to resolve:
I read something about having USB debugging on may affect it so I tried turning that off, but no luck.
I tried reinstalling the Samsung Drivers from their site and no change.
I also tried the Kies drivers resinstall and that didn't help.
I have tried to mess with the registry the the "upperfilters" solution found on many SG3 pages with the same problem and that didn't help (plus I don't have a "upperfilters" key, but one solution had me adding it and then removing it in some sequence of having the phone connected to computer and removed).
I tried adding my device ID to the wpdmtp.inf file as one SG3 thread suggests and that didn't help.
I am fresh out of ideas to try. One suggestion from another member in the Jelly Thunder thread, where I first posted this question, suggested trying the hidden menus mod, which I have yet to try. I feel like I shouldn't have to go to that measure to get this to work. There was also some talk on another SG3 thread about doing a factory wipe on the phone to fix it. WHAT?... that seems like a hell of an answer.... loose everything and have to start over with settings and the like.
Any help greatly appreciated...
Thanks in advance...

Not connected by USB

Hi all,
So I have searched the forums and used to google to a solution but to no avail.
When I plug my new s4 into my laptop it recognises the device but doesnt not come up on windows explorer. The phone also does not give me the option to change from camera mode to usb mode etc like my nexus does.
I have installed all the latest drivers and even tried kies 2.0 which says it is not compatible with this device.
The s4 rootkit detects the phone and allows me to make a backup so the connection is there.
I think it may have been a setting I changed when I was unlocking the phone by going into the debug menu?
I have also tried toggling usb debug etc from developer mode. I have restarted the phone several times and my laptop and tried it on different laptops so I am sure it is an issue with the phone settings.
Thanks to all in advance.
Running windows 7 and s4 on 4.2.2
I found a solution for anyone who has a similiar problem.
One the phone pad type *#7284#
go to qualcomm options and mine was a weird selection. I changed it to MTP and ADB and it works fine now
This is just a suggestion, samsung drivers and keis do not get along very well, disable keis and try again, it will show up.

S4 Not Detecting PC Connection

Ok, so I found a few older threads on this, but no tips in them seem to work in my case. I can't seem to get my S4 to see the PC/USB connection and prompt to select Media Device or the like. The USB icon never even appears in the notification bar. The PC recognizes connection (USB tone sounds) and shows device ready to use, but phone never gives the option. Doesn't seem to matter if USB Debugging is checked or not, or anything else that I can find so far. Here's the things I can generally eliminate:
2 different USB cables worked on wife's S4 on two different PCs. Neither cable or PC worked with my S4
Tried reinstalling Samsung USB drivers just to be sure
Cold booted phone
Tried unchecking and re-checking USB debugging (also tried with it unchecked)
So when we take in working fine on wife's S4, I'd generally guess that we can eliminate cable and PC from the potential problem list. Phone is currently on stock rom, but rooted. Outside of that and freezing VZ Support, Knox, and VZ Tones, no other modifications to the OS. At this point, I'm pretty stumped. Any suggestions on other steps to try?
The problem is your USB settings in the hidden dialers. Look for tutorials on how to enable them, and once found, type *#0808#, and a list of usb otions will come up. Pick any with MTP and they'll work again.
Worked perfect. Thanks muchly!

On a related issue, win update tried to update my samsung ADP, etc drivers and failed. Ever since, I cannot connect to the PC. The PC doesn't even notice that the phone is connected. I tried the above fix to no avail (it is set to MTP) I uninstalled and reinstalled kies, tried troubleshooting the usb connection, ect...
Please help.

Try installing/reinstalling Kies, it comes bundled with all the samsung drivers you'll need
Tried that. Twice. To no avail.
But it is no longer a problem. I installed eclipse rom and it now works again.
Who knows what went wrong...
And now it's not working again. Reinstalled (dirty) the ROM without any change. Thoughts?

[Q] Help! I can't select MTP under USB options!

Hello, so this morning I was looking to transfer some files from my Sprint LG G3 to my PC. I couldn't get the computer to recognize the phone so I attempted to change to 'PTP' under USB options and revert back to Media Device/MTP, hoping it will work. However it didn't, and to make matters worse, I can't select the MTP option eventhough the it show under USB Options - everytime I select MTP it reverts back to either 'PTP' or 'Charge Phone'. The PC does recognize the phone as a camera/PTP and charges the phone but I can't get it work as a media device. I have tried uninstalling/installing the unified G3 drivers and toggled USB debugging on/off but it still not working. I have read somewhere that installing LG PC Suite does solve the issue (instead of the mobile drivers only) but I am not sure it does. Please help guys.

Try wiping cache in recovery and if that does not work.... Reinstall the ROM it could just be something went wrong along the way and it glitched..... You can also try shortcut master just search for "MTP" or "mtp" and try to find a shortcut that would enable it. Also try running *#*#4636#*#* in your dialer. It will make all of your carrier files and stuff like that update running that usually fixes a ton of problems.

I tried wiping my cache in recovery, running the code *#*#4636#*#* and searching for 'MTP/mtp' using shortcut master but all attempts were unsuccessful. I am using Stock ZV4 but I have TWRP installed so I can backup and try factory resetting but I am not confident that would help. I am also saving that as a last resort so If anyone suggests other fixes please help.

Try flashing one of these Roms maybe it will be working?

Do you have usb debugging enabled? Sometimes that causes it to not work for me, other times it works fine with it enabled.
Edit nevermind, I see you said you have tried it.
##3424# is diag mode enabled?
Sent from my LGLS990 using XDA Free mobile app
Try booting into recovery
Also, have you tried a different usb port on your computer? It will reinstall the drivers each time you change ports. Also, you should be able to select MTP without being plugged into the computer by going to storage in settings, and in the menu should be the pc connection settings. Does it do the same thing when not plugged into the computer?
Sent from my LGLS990 using XDA Free mobile app
Edit: I just tried a few different ways, DIAG mode enabled, USB Debugging enabled, each work, and at the same time, for me.
Below is the LG Drivers i have installed right now.
LGUnitedMobileDriver_S51MAN313AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.13.2.exehttp://tool.xcdn.gdms.lge.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=UW00120120425
So I have tried per your suggestion - tries disabling DIAG mode and (again) tried switching USB debugging off - no change. I have also tried different USB ports and different computers too. Surprisingly I couldn't find 'PC Connections setting' under storage in settings. Also tried looking under security and developer options. The only way I can try switching to MTP is when I plug the phone into a PC and a 'USB Options' menu appears in the notification bar. I am starting to think the Issue is with the phone and not the PC"s. I will try installing the drivers you suggested though.
I have the same problem on my Nexus 6, OP are you solved the problem?
This problem was already resolved in another thread and the resolution was to... I know its going to sound so stupid but to select mtp AGAIN lol..
If you have Clean master Uninstall it, Or just remove permissions from it , It'll work
