Power settings BATTERY LIFE IMPROVEMENT - Nexus 6P General

Hey guys I've found a thread on Xda while searching for a solution to improve the battery life of devices with that chip Snapdragon 810
I found this
Link to original thread (for one plus2)
https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/foru...r-tweaks-snapdragon-810-devices-t3261790/amp/
I dont know if it's gonna work because I haven't tried.
Since my device isn't rooted but I'm not planning to root it cus I've got 1 month of warranty left to squeeze.
Currently running Android oreo 8.0.0 on stock kernel
Wonder if this patch could improve battery life as I'm only getting 5hrs or less SOT and it's real pain.
I've attached a flashable zip file with this .....pls kindly report if thr are any significant improvements
The actual thread says it can be flashed on any device with 810 processor
Wonder if it works on v2.0
Kindly give feedbacks
This is not my work and I'm not taking credit for someone else's hard work
If no one else is going to try soon then I'll give it a try after this month ....be sure to wait
I'm just sharing since I've found it interesting
THE USERS REPORTED UPTO 40% INCREASE IN SCREEN ON TIME ON THEIR SNAP 810 devices
Pls do report if it works and kindly give feedbacks if anyone wants to try it
IM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR EXPLOSIONS AND DEAD PHONES
CUS ITS XDA Mann

I'll flash it just to see if it makes a difference. We will see. Could be all placebo.

Also post a screenshot of ur battery details screen if u see any significant improvements

Here are some screenshots of the tweaks in use.

Well Could be a placebo but just visit the actual thread....one plus owners seems to be really happy and satisfied didn't seem like Placebo !!!

Should move this to general or something. This thread has nothing to do with something you developed.

I thought I'd have a look at this.
So flashing the zip will have no immediate effect, as it installs to /system/su.d and I don't think any 6P roms use that (I run AquariOS and it doesn't seem to run anything in there on boot).
There are a lot of entries that are incorrect for our device - basically all of the non-qpnp entries. Running them won't do any harm but they won't have any effect.
The first few lines are interesting and looking at the original OnePlus 2 thread, had a significant effect on their own. So I've applied them and we'll see what effect they have on my 6P - if any.
(edit: and I agree that this thread should be moved to general)

@MOD Can you please move this to general or elsewhere as it has nothing to do with something he developed.
Thanks

5h of SOT? I barely get 3 in a good day ?

Yeah move this thread to general ..sry for the wrong thread
Thought this could help our devices

If one plus could improve battery life from 5 to 7 hrs of SOT our device might also improve atleast a bit

Can someone provide a link to the stock build.prop file of N and O???

Can't u do that yourself? U don't want to test the zip, get any files, etc. If you want to save battery, search, flash the zip, get the files you need, and test it. You're the only one that's gonna tell if it makes a difference with your usage. 5 hrs SOT is good On 6P.

Downside Of Constantly Flashing ROMs?

Ok so what im wondering is if flashing between ROMs alot will cause problems with my phone such as things going out or eventually bricking my phone. i like to test all the new ROMs that come out to help out the Devs by reporting any bugs and stuff but it seems like i flash New ones all the time and im just wondering if there is any downside to this? Also im not sure if i posted this is the wrong section or not but if i did i wanna say sorry to the mods and feel free to close or move my thread. Also wanna say thanks to all the Devs you guys are great keep up the good work *~Dez~*
Being one of the aforementioned devs, I've flashed my phone about a gazillion times with no issues It PROBABLY shortens the life of the flash, but not noticeably.

Flashable Zip Boot Animations

Firstly I must give the statutory warning that I am not responsible for - Bricking - Cracking - Banging - Smashing - Licking your device. All animations have been tested by me on my A2017U but this does not guarantee that they will work on your device.
All animations I post will be in flashable zip form so there is no need to sort out where to put it or what permissions to give it, all is taken care of by the zip file. One cautionary note, if you want to preserve the standard Axon animation then before flashing you must go into /system/media and change the name of the existing animation because otherwise the new one will overwrite it.
Each animation I post will be accompanied by a GIF file which will give you an idea of what the animation looks like, the names will be the same apart from the extension, this should make it easier see which is which.
Remember these are flashable zips to be flashed by your custom recovery i.e. TWRP.
One last caution, although I will only post animations I have successfully flashed to my own device this does not mean I am responsible if anything happens to yours. If people find them useful I will make more as and when I have the time.
Ok here is another one, the second Andy one. No need to repeat all the blah, blah, blah of the first post, it all still applies. Apart from new ones I make I will also be converting some I made for the Moto X Pure.
OK last one for now. Post #1 cautions apply.

Do you know if there are any limitations to these animations? Max and lowest resolution? Duration? DPI?

@trasheris ... Thanks for the questions. I find that it is largely a matter of personal preference as to how you construct an animation.
Personally I find that size is generally my main consideration, I detest animations that exceed 5 Mbs in size, I feel that it's unnecessary to clog up a system with something that is only "window dressing". I'll try and give you my answers point by point.
1. Resolution depends on weighing clarity on one hand with size on the other.
2. Duration depends on the device. The A7 for example has the shortest time available to display of any device I have ever owned, so you have to make your animation duration fit your device. Remember the time is set by the device it's not going to wait to boot until your saga of an animation ends.
3. DPI has nothing to do with boot animations.
Get your series of jpg's use a graphics adjustment program to make them the size you need, use a graphics program to determine the resolution quality then build your animation.

Another two. Post #1 applies as usual.

@nujackk ... Re your request for Superman, as we both suspected I wasn't able to find anything really worth while but I did my best with the attached two, however I don't really like them.
EDIT note -- The "Super-1" gif is quite a bit darker than it is when it's applied to the device. On the device you can quite clearly see the faces.

Aah, I got it to work now. It was because I had installed substratum earlier, and even though I had uninstalled it, somehow the boot-animation wasn't getting overridden even after flashing these. Many thanks for these!

Clarification: Best ROM

Hey, so I've seen a lot of people talking about how good XX ROM is and it's better than YY because of something. Also another problem being the question of best ROM.
I'd like to say something: Everyone has their own thinking and point of view, so something's that's not important to you might be imporrtant to someone else, so making judgements like this is better than that is all dependant from person to person. We all know that no two mind think alike. These types of questions discourage developers so please it's my humble request to not post / compare ROMs calling them bad / good. If you don't like a feature then don't use it. Same goes for the ROM. If you can help improve then you most probably can via github or gerrit as some ROMs provide. With that being said. Thanksfor the time to read this post.
I kind of agree. I much prefer to see descriptions with a list of pros and cons rather than a simple "this ROM is better because I like these aspects"

Going to give it ago again tonight... I week or so ago I tried it and had very odd behaviors. Likely just a bad flash (sounds odd, but it does happen) and went back to Oxygen... is there any differences between the UNOFFICIAL and OFFICIAL builds?
How is it that even a thread specifically made to tell people not to ask questions about which rom is best, turns into a rom advice thread.

mm don't know if there is a difference, there is not much out there, i'm using official , last stable, only negative, are random crash apps, most of all google apps... and have to reboot, but the battery life is very very good.
Won't make a separate thread for this but I'll ask here - what are 2-4 most popular ROMs for the OP2 going around nowadays? I've been using Exodus ROM for a long time and I really liked it, but the latest update was November 11th and it looks like the developers have moved on. The ROM is fine, and there's really nothing that I'm missing, but there are some stability issues with random reboots and force close and this is the longest I've gone without updating/changing something so I'm looking to try something new. I want to look into a few different options and read others' reviews and look into features and stuff, but it would be great if you guys could narrow down my search to the few most popular/well known/most supported roms that are currently available.

Well, basically i do just need someone who Maintains a Thread with Me and My Team Mate here. I want to have someone who owns the Device to get advanced Reports and to have someone who Quotes Me on the Thread if Problems appear (Can be Device Specific).
If anyone is interested enough i will start a Thread which the Maintainer gets invited to. So let's Go! :highfive:
This definitely looks interesting, I'd love to see it take off!

But Yes, it should work on Stock. BUT YOu need to add Init.d Support if YOu want to use the given Scripts like Battery Calibration and Play Services battery drain Fix.
Another thing are the GApps. The LIGHT PATCH comes with Optimized GApps for 7.1. If You are on 7.1 YOu're good to go. If not, You should pre download a GApp Pack for Your Android Version to install it after the Patch. That should be all. And like always, do clean flashs! lol

I'm still playing around with some things. Ended up doing a complete clean flash of RR, Magisk 13, and this again this morning, so I haven't had too much time to just dive into everything just yet. Just tested sound over speakers though, and it sounds great. Still gotta see how battery fares.
If you opt to let the patch install Gapps, they're very minimal, and you'll end up installing most of them from the Play Store, but that gives you the option to keep whichever ones you want. There are also a ton of lib files, and some add-ons from Sony and HTC that are worth checking out. Will give a more detailed post after I've had more time to mess around.
I'm interested too.
A list with some information of the benefits would still be good.

Glad to hear it runs! Well, there are hundreds of Features and goodies in this Baby. I'm working on Android since almost 7 Years and the Patch is the Product of enhancing custom ROMs to something more than that. Calling it a Mod is like calling a Operation on a Brain slaughtering lol
I will try to explain it a bit.
The Light Patch is the 3rd Version of My Patch System. The Multi Device Support is caused by excluding the Device specific Firmware from the customization which i usually would do with a ROM. The advantages of that are independent OS updates, Multi Device Support, Features which You can't get with AOSP, and it is better to develop than usual Mods or ROMs.
We have planned to create a own AOSP OS and some Apps in the Future which will include the advanced research behind the Patch and everything what i do. It is really hard for Me to describe all that. But i'm going to enhance My Project together with a new Partner and the Light Patch is the first Step on that Way. There will come for sure more Infos, Videos and all possible Things over the Time. And don't run away cause of my English! My Partner speaks a lot better English than Me, so the overall Quality will come over the Time. I'll let him do all the Social stuff here so i can focus on the development (finally). The Main Team is growing and our Maintainers will also get a place in our Org. We will soon have a own Domain with G Suite Service and everything looks bright for our Project.
I hope that wasn't to much bad English for One Post  Just take a look on My very long Changelog and try the Patch. You will not regret it, it is 100% stable if You follow the given Instructions

I decided to try it out of curiosity, pretty much because I flash a lot, and try to stay open to new things. I'm a tinkerer, and I guess that's just part of my fidgety nature. Lol. But, as there's no official maintainer or posts in the development section for our device yet, and English isn't the developers first language, it seems that either flashing or waiting for response from people that have are the best way to get information for now. But if you download the zip and browse through it, there are a lot of things there that should theoretically add to the user experience.

Now this is something I would like to know aswell, I have this phone (x829) since April, and since I've bought this phone I've immidiately installed LinageOS or any other Nougat Roms, I didn't want to give EUI a chance. Now since it's been a few months and I've gotten the feel for the phone, I've tried using some EUI roms, specifically Cuoco's ROM, and I can honestly say from my personal experiance the nouggat roms surpass the eui roms in terms of battery. When I was using RR or LOS I've gotten 4-5h SOT, with cuoco i'm lucky to get 3h. What's the reason behind this?

These "best battery life" threads are kind of pointless.....
Battery is relative..... I can think of a billion factors, tweaks, mods, uses that effect battery life.
There is no miracle ROM that will give you 10hrs of SOT, so if your not comfortable tweaking your device I suggest stock.
Try PureNexus, this have a insane battery life.. this looks 3Days on stand with WiFi/3G and some few uses at day.. on SoT, I think it lasts for 7~8h with no problems..

Can you tell me your tweaks because i only get 2 hours SOT
I thinks it's not the best, i'm still learning about ROMs, but you can give a try to: AcoSlimEUI v1.24e
I'll start a new one from scratch soon including all the improvements of this one.
Thank you
