I have a S5 klte duos and i have tested and both of my sim card slots can do 3G but when I use them both (one for data and one for calls/SMS) it forces one of the sims to 2G. Is there any way I can get dual sim standby? I want to get calls and texts and have data. But I don't care if my data is interrupted from a call or a text.

Hi Guys, I was using an ICS dual sim phone until I broke, it, the way I had it setup was
1) SIM 1 - 3g enabled
2) SIM 2 - 2g only + data connection enabled
That meant I had 2g data access and 3g carrier service.
Now here is the thing, my carrier on SIM 1 is 3g/4g only! They do not have a 2g network at all, so in order to make calls and text 3g has to be enabled for that SIM. as for the data I only need it for AGPS stuff, so only minimal bandwidth is required, I have no data allowance on SIM 1 and SIM 2 is provided by my employer so the data is free.
Now That all worked sweet. until I got this new phone, Nubia Z7 Mini.
Problem is, if I enable data on SIM 2, then I lose signal on SIM 1. There does not seem to be away to enable 2g only data on SIM 2 under android kitkat. (or it may be a hardware limitation?) It seems to only allow me to swing 3g service between SIM 1 or 2. and only allow mobile data on the SIm with 3g
any ideas how I can get around this?
Hmm I think it may be a hard limitation.
i did this:
Sim card 2: selected only GSM network mode
Sim card 1: only WCDMA network mode
then enabled data on sim card 2, went back and checked and it had changed SIM card 1 back to GSM only and sim card 2 to 3g.

I understand it is possible to use 1 sim slot for data (3G/4G) and the other with voice/sms (2G).
But will a voice call or sms come through while you are using data on the data sim?
Thanks
Yes...
while using data with Data SIM... you can receives SMS and Calls from Other SIM..
both of SIM will be active at same time.. so you won't have any problem with Call receiving while using Data with Another SIM...!!
its dual standby

I want to use my first sim for 3g texting and calls and 4g texting and calls (something a few operators in the uk are doing now).
I want to use my second sim for 3g data and 4g data for google maps, browsing and whatsapp (4g coverage isnt amazing in the uk)
I still want to use the first sim for 3g and 4g data but only when I can't get signal with the second sim, but I want it to signify it's doing so or to ask for permission.
I still want to receive calls and texts on the second sim using either the 3g or 4g network, depending on what is in range. I still want to make calls and send texts from the second sim, but only to contacts who are saved under that particular sim, and not very often.
If someone is saved under the contact of sim 1 or 2, I don't want it to message or calls them from the other sim without consent.
When i'm browsing I still want to be able to receive calls and texts on either sim, interrupting the browsing if necessary.
Is this something I'll be able to do easily without having to constantly switch the settings of the sim cards or the settings of the phone?
The thing if I've ordered one but I haven't opened it yet. I was hoping to make sure that it works the way I was hoping it works before opening it, or if I should just return it.
I have a strange issue with dual SIM.
I use a Telekom SIM in Slot 1 and a Vodafone SIM in slot 2.
Both Sims are correctly registered in their network and I can use data with either Sim card.
I settings I I did not preset any SIM for outgoing calls, so I can choose in the dialer which SIM I want to use for the call. However, no matter which SIM I use, always SIM 1 (Telekom) does the outgoing call.
if I deactivate SIM 1 and do a call, SIM 2 should automatically be used. But then I get an error "mobile network not available". Although data via the mobile network is working.
If I completely remove the Telekom SIM from the phone, everything works fine with the Vodafone SIM. So it is not a problem of the SIM card itself.
If I swap SIM cards and put Telekom in SIM2 and Vodafone in SIM1, also always the Telekom SIM is used. (SIM2 now).
I appreciate any help or ideas.
Same problem
I have the same problem and it is very strange why not people have noticed, I almost didn't find it in any reviews
I use 2 Sims as well be it 2 Swiss Providers but for me everything works as it should. I can choose to Use either Sim1 or Sim2 which works as it should. I can also set to use Data from either Sim1 or Sim 2 or even combined.
So it might not be that noone has noticed this problem - which could be provider specific - perhaps its just working fine for them, like it is for me

How Can you use combined data for sim1&sim2
Envoyé de mon LYA-L29 en utilisant Tapatalk
Hi Guys,
Just realized a quick fix for myself.
Settings-> Apps -> Apps -> Tap on Settings (3 Vertical Dots on right hand top corner) - > Show system Processes -> Type Search for "Phone"
Clear Cache and Data for:
1. Phone Services
2. Phone/Messaging Storage
Reboot. the calling function on both the sims should get functional.
Cheers!
Hi all,
I'm gonna buy an e-Sim, never had one before.
Wondering if, while waiting for my phone number to be moved to the new company E-Sim, if I can set voice calls to Sim and mobile data internet to E-Sim.
Thanks!
Your knowledge about esims is totally wrong they are not what u think about them esim is inbuilt in new smartphones which prevents the use of physical sim card and u can use multiple esims in one device like profiles they just need one time setup
Thanks for your answer.
I don't have knowledge about esims, and that's why I asked esperts.
In any case, I know about profile, multiple profiles (and one profile at a time use on certain devices), my question was a little bit different.
When I had a dual sim phone, I set the first sim for voice and messages and the second sim for mobile data. Second sim had a much better signal and many more Gb plan.
Now I have Pixel6, I have a phisical sim (and my phone numer on it)m and I'm going to buy an e-sim from a different operator. They'll give me unlimited GB, so I thouhgt, while waiting for the old phone number to be transfered on the new e-sim, to use the esim profile for mobile internet data only.
Basically: voice calls: sim 1 (physical sim)
messages: sim 1
Mobile internet data: sim2 (e-sim).
That's what I was asking, is it possible?
Yea everything is possible
U can do it
i am using a esim for voice and a sim for data.
and it pisses me off that i can not talk and surf at the same time.
for me the voice cannot be active and have the data in use at the same time
Is it activated

Strange, my wife is using a P6 with voice on e-SIM and data on physical SIM. So it's possible.
