EDIT - Typo in Description the box is 2gb/8gb
For some reason my brand new M96X box has decided to die on me all i'm getting is the red light. I've been trying to use "USB Burning Tool" but it keeps failing, I'm not even sure if i have the correct firmware for it.
The only way I can update it is by using the tool, There is NO reset button so i can't even get into recovery mode to install from the SD
The Error I'm getting from the USB Tool are in the log file attached
Any help with this would be much appreciated
Thanks

Hi,
My M96X mini seems to have the same board and there is a reset button on the other side of it. It would be strange if yours had not.
By the way: what firmware did you try to burn?
@russellhearn69 sorry for your troubles. how did it die? did you come home and it wasnt working or did you brick it trying to change the software? what error are you getting with usb burn tool?

I bricked it with the USB tool. Wrote over the boot loader too. So I suppose the hardware is functional.

Yes, sounds like you just need to track down the right image for your device.

Which USB cable did you use for the "USB Burning Tool"?
Kind regards.

Hi,
I just managed to factory reset my N910F with complete broken screen with kies.
Now I'd like to control it with my computer but to do so, I need usb debugging enabled, however since the phone is on a stock rom, it comes disabled by default and I can't enable it since both digitizer and amoled screen are broken.
This post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53531429&postcount=17 suggests contacting "a kernel developer to automatically enable it in the default.prop and sideload the kernel in recovery".
Moreover I'm new to the Samsung World (never flashed a rom with Odin) but I have a LG G2 and flashed tons of roms before.
Current installed rom version:

What can I do? Please help! Thanks in advance.
Do you have stock rom file with you? If not download from sammobile. Open with winzip or rar and pull boot.img and send me. Btw its midnight here so earliest i can help you in late morning
PS :
1.I didnt get once you format device and what is exact use of controlling device with broken screen.
2.Also this method will trip knox
3.you have selected wrong section to open thread.
1- I don't want to pay 180€ to get the screen fixed and find out there are certain things that don't work on this phone. I exchanged an HP Prime for this Note4 so I don't know what the real status of the phone is. Receiving calls works, s-pen too though.
2- I don't think it has a warranty lol
3-Sorry, I would change it if I could.
And...I don't know which rom version I should download. The sticker on the back says UK but I live in Spain.
I tried activating USB debugging myself by following certain YouTube videos but I can't. I don't really know if Im past the setup wizard or I'm still stuck there.
If boot.img will be from different version then device may not boot.
Can you still see anything on the screen? Try to use an OTG cable with a usb mouse. Maybe you can use the mouse to browse your phone. I remember doing this with my Xperia S with broken screen to copy pictures and movies to my pc.

I understand. What do I do? I don't know what the exact version is. Do you want the serial number on the back?

The screen's broken, can't see or touch anything. But the s-pen works that's how I managed to get past through the setup wizard (I THINK I DID).
If I had a video where someone showed how to get past through the setup wizard and then activated usb debugging all by using the s-pen, I could try ;D
A bit late, but the Note 4 has MHL, so you could connect it to your TV through HDMI.
So, I've bought a Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 with a Chinese Rom, and I was following a tutorial to flash a new rom into it.
I basically did the following:
Installed MediaTek Drivers on PC
Opened "Smart Phone Flash Tool"
Specified Download-Agent as DA_SWSEC.bin and Scatter-loading File as the ROM
Unchecked preloader and clicked on "Download"
Connected the Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 to the computer while pressing Volume Down
Then, at this point, the computer crashed with a blue screen of death with the error "BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER". Here is the diagnosis of the error:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After that, the Mi Pad won't turn on, won't respond to any button and is not recognized by the computer.... I think I might have hard-bricked it.
I've found a tutorial about recovering a Mi Pad 1, but one of the steps is to make a bridge in the SD Card slot, which Mi Pad 3 don't seem to have.
I'm a developer myself, I know my way on things, I have a VM Linux, I'm willing to open the tablet and do whathever it costs to recover it.
Please, what can I do??
Please, anyone?
I FUC*ING RECOVERED MY FUC*ING TABLET. FUC* YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know exactly what it was, but I kinda did the following:
- Installed the latest SP Flash tool from spflashtool.com on my PC
- Installed Mi PC Suite for drivers and such
- To help debug, I had a freeware called "Free Device Monitoring Studio", to better understand what's going on on my USB ports
- I was playing a little with the connection/desconnection of the device on my computer, trying to understand how it was. I saw that Kali Linux running under Oracle VM kinda recognized it as a Mediatek device, but couldn't do anything else than that. With that info, my hopes went a little higher, because it wasn't completely dead after all.
- I opened Flash tool, configured it to used the same ROM and files I was using when I bricked it, because I'm pretty sure they weren't the cause of the brick and clicked "Download"
- Then I began messing with the tablet trying to make it be recognized by SP Flash Tool, upon turning it on and off and switching USB ports and connecting them directly to the motherboard USB ports instead of the frontal USB ports
- Then at one point it suddenly recognized and started downloading and flashing the new ROM. I faced some errors but with Format all + Download and having to disconnect/reconnect the batery to make it recognizable again and some little tweaks here and there, it ended up working.
My tablet is working fine now
My phone is stuck in edl mode for no reason. I am facing the following error when I flash my phone. Can someone tell me what's wrong?

Still found no solution but I have a feeling that something is broken in the motherboard. In my case I think it's the emmc chip because I see storage related errors when I flash.
I might just have to sell the phone parts and buy a new phone. :crying:
It's not the motherboard issue, it's just that your partition has been corrupted and flash tool is unable to send program to your device, I would suggest you to try emmcdl and try to flash from there.

Did you find any solution? I have been facing the same issue for the last couple of days.
I am also running into a similar issue where I believe I am stuck in EDL. I flash and when it tries to "ping target via firehose" it times out. I am not sure what to do.
Currently my phone doesn't show any boot up screen. When the battery is plugged in and the phone is plugged in the notification light flashes constantly. Not sure what caused it to brick either. It just one day stopped working.

same issue cant solve any solution?
I flashed 9.2. [v4] [S905W] Aidan's Custom ROM (200 DPI) (RTL8189) (X96 Mini, X96W ect...).img, but the TV remote is not working.
And then, I was about to try to flash another rom, but my box couldn't stably connect with my PC anymore.
It would show 'connect successfully" on USB Burning Tool; but 3s later, it would disconnect. I tried many times and even changed to another PC, but nothing worked.
I did a lot of searches, but couldn't find anyone who had the same issue.
I appreciate it if anyone could help.
Thanks.

Looks like an port issue or cable.
Try changing ports.
Are you using an amd system?

I am getting another cable to see if this can be resolved, I tried both Intel and AMD
Solved:
Here are the steps I took:
1. open the USB burning tool and load the firmware
2. connect your box via USB to your pc
3. Hit "start" on the USB burning tool
4. use pins or metal tweezers to connect the two points shown in the orange circle on the attached pic
(I have an x96 mini, for how to disassemble it, check
)
5. disconnect and re-connect your box with your pc

Guys, few days agoI flashed my X96max S905X3 with v7. 1 Aidan V9 .img for H96 Max X3 with USB burning tool V2.2.0, and after flashing was done, removed USB cable, stooped the USB tool, and then I tried to power it up, but it won't start at all. It's completely dead.
Any advice please?

Bad luck.
This time flashed with Slimhouse v11.4 but he same happened.
Perfect time for using the screwdriver
Succesfully unbricked via NAND mask mode.
Had to connect this pin to USB ground. Straight forward job.
This time I flashed my box with Slimbox ATV V11.6
It booted correctly this time.
Everything works
