I seem to have a problem with my camera after the update, I can not open the setting for the camera, it self closes as fast as it opens. Does anyone else have this problem?
I can open the camera, but I can't even take pictures or press anything within the camera app- it just "stops responding" and force closes, so you're still in a better position than me buddy lmao
What update?

Sorry but if such a thread was posted in this section before I did not find it.
My camera app keeps force closing. When I open the camera app, the camera starts but the whole thing just lags there.I cannot take a photo or go to settings. But the camera is able to move when I move my phone,so only the options are not working and im not able to take a photo. But after about 7 secs, the screen goes blank and this shows up:
Sorry!
The application Camera
(process com.sec.android.
camera)has stopped
unexpectedly. Please try again later
Force close
I have tried factory reset but its not working.
Any suggestions would help
Found a solution:Flashed firmware all back to normal...seems like its fla.sh x2's fault...
Hi folks,
I have a haipad i9300 mtk 6577 4 days ago the camera start to make trouble. Sometime just show black screen and after ask for a force close.
I tried to delete the old camera apk and installa brand new...I give to JB 4.2 camera a try to see if it works...nothing still the same. Black screen and after several touch ask for a force close. I guess is not an hardware problem because sometimes it works...what can I do?
I notice if I press several time and I force close then the camera app cannot connect to camera. This happen 4 or 5 times...then if I am very lucky the camera rebirth and start working again...It seems there is a kind of problem between the app camera and the camera hardware...because every camera app have the same issue, so maybe the problema is after...maybe some libs or something like that...any idea?
Odd update...I have a torchlight app with its widget. I notice the torchlight has the same issues of the camera. In fact it freezes and often I need to force close. The strange thing is if you turn on or turn off after few timers you can heard a kind of "click"...the same click you heard when you activate the camera...after that if you turn on the camera it is working. So I guess the torchlight and the camera are linked in some way. Of course I try to unistall the torchlight app...nothing the camera still not working.
Any ideas?
I'm not expect ,but
if something using start using camera (for example torch widget app) then other program cannot access to camera,so if program was not design for that case it will crash. (I know this as When I writing my app i spotted the same problem as You. ).
So i guess something using camera and that cause your problems.Try to find how many programs/services use camera and close all of them and then check/
That's my thought...in fact I'm pretty sure something is bothering the camera app...but...I did an hard reset, so a clean system, but the camera still freeze so I assume is not an application I installed. How can I check which application is accessing the camera?

Hello everyone. I just got this phone the other day after returning the galaxy s5. I am loving it but I have one issue and maybe I'm just doing something wrong.
Everytime I take a picture in the camera app after tapping the check button, the camera closes and I return to the home screen. Does anyone else have this problem or is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?
Not normal. If the phone is stock (unrooted, etc.) I would try a factory reset (backup any personal data first) and see if the problem persists.
Only time I see a check in camera app is when sending picture via mms and it asks where I want to send [email protected],camera etc... if this is case of attaching picture directly from camera to an mms then this is a normal function, if taking a picture and it just closes then this is not normal reaction
Well it seems that the problem has resolved itself. I was just about to post a screen shot of the check mark so you guys could see it and then it just starting working as normal. Thanks for the responses and I'll post here if it comes up again.
Ok the problem returned... I showed the issue to a buddy who has the same phone and it also turned out that I was missing several options on the camera. I did a factory reset and the problem persisted.
I think I found the issue... I was using Google Now Launcher. Apparently that launcher doesn't play well with the camera. I uninstalled the launcher and voila, all the features (video, zoe, dual camera, etc) are back and the camera no longer closes after taking a pic.
Anyone else want to test this theory and see if happens?
confirmed issue and workaround
Hi there,
I can confirm that the Now launcher uses the native Google camera instead of the Zoe camera. I have also found that from the lock screen with the now launcher installed, unlocking by pulling the camera icon opens the full HTC zoe-enabled camera again. I find this super annoying as I'd like to have Google launcher and have the camera work properly. Anyone know a fix for this other than my workaround?
Ditto for T-Mobile HTC One (M7)
There's a lot I really like about the Google Launcher, but this just drives me nuts. I didn't really understand the workaround suggested here ( though I have no doubt it works). But the suggestion sounded on target. So, I went into my app list and shared it from there. It didn't do the funky stuff any more. I wonder if there's a setting to change that behavior: like someone thought, Hey, take a picture and go back to our regular programming? It's a shame because I really feel that the Google camera takes better picture.
In any case, just to let folks know that this is a real problem. The OP was on target.
To anyone else having this problem that does not use Google Now Launcher, another app that causes this is Omni Swipe. The default camera button in the tools section isn't the right camera (not sure what it's trying to access but still). If you add the correct camera app to the app section, it'll be fine.
Yes, this solved my problem as well. I went back to the default launcher and now the camera is working fine
guys. please help.
whenever i open whatsapp and any conversation and then click on the little camera icon in the lower part, it gives me "could not start camera" error.
please see atached image.
does anyone know how to fix this =(
ps: when i open camera from homescreeen and choose front camera, and the again open whatsapp and select the littlte camera icon on the lower part, then it starts just fine, so it must be something with the rear camera.
ps: already reinstaled whatsapp and cleared chace/data. Same thing with camera app, cleared cache/data. didnt work
Ps: more strangely, it happens only in whatsapp until now
ps: if i open a whatsapp conversation and click on the paperclick sharing icon and choose "take photo" it starts the camera (front or rear) fine. Weird, huh? its just the little icon on the lower part that gives error...
Does someone now about this bug? found nothing here/google.
Im running 10.1.3 Stable CM Stock. camera is also the stock cm one.
I have the same problem on cm11, every nightly release. No one to replay?
In snapchat it almost sounds like a vibration of the autofocus continuously trying to focus in and out. It never really gets a proper focus. Even in regular camera. Any ideas how to fix this without getting an exchange?

can't offer any help, but will add I have the same problem from time to time. I have yet had it happen in the camera app. I see the problem in SnapChat and another app I use to scan barcodes. I normally force stop the app and try again.
