are none of the Android tabloids covering the Pre-order delays?? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Rest assured I don't want to beat a dead horse but does nobody else find it crazy that there isn't a single news article even from the apple '360p fan boys' criticizing how Samsung is handling any of the former Note 7 owners' delayed pre-orders, or just the lack of communication from Samsung in general? Or should this just be the expected norm with SamUSA Customer Service, going forward...

SamsungUSA is ran by some other company this was discussed a lot a while ago , they take for ever to reply , their customer service plain and simple ducks balls , I ordered the s8 plus and my expirience wasn't as bad as everyone else's but it wasn't as good as it would and could have been with t mobile , I ordered my note thru to bile this time around and it only took 3 days to process and ship my phone

Have you ANY idea how fortunate you are in the USA with regard to such matters? You got free this and that when you bought the Note 7 then you got compensation when you returned it to Samsung plus deals and goodness knows what! This was over a year ago and you STILL expect more.............???
In most non USA countries we got zero freebies as a pre order and IF we did get a freebie we had to give it back when we returned BOTH our Note 7's! We have had no mention of special deals off the Note 8 and have never been compensated in any way for the troubles we had with the purchase of the Note 7's.
You are spoilt and this sense of entitlement is annoying and puerile. Move on, the Note 7 is history.

Like I get what you're saying; however, like us in the US, given what you knew about basically not getting anything extra, you still chose to purchase a Note as well?? So that's kind of irrelevant. As stated by others, the EMEA, the UK and other marketing/customer relations divisions are separate from the US and are in no way tied to the decisions made about how to compensate former Note 7 customers affected by the faulty handset, other than by the name of the company(Samsung) which you agreed to purchase your device from too. You ain't special. I myself never received any compensation for returning my device, I know a lot of other people didn't. Sure we got replacements, but the fact of the matter remains that we all, the rest of the world included, a year later are still waiting, even after the release of the next phone for Samsung to get their **** together. And they haven't as of.
Anyways, as you said, the Note 7 IS history, and that sir is exactly my point! If Samsung would just communicate with their customers a little bit or A LOT A BIT about what they were thinking, we might actually STFU. Patience is not hitting the cancel button on my pre-order for a promotion somebody at Samsung decided to offer me because of a faulty handset the world was sold over a year ago. I could care less about the compensation, or any extras. I care about my brand loyalty and right now it's slipping and fast.

Nobody is forcing him, he chooses to, and if it has a certain price, you know this price before buying it, i dont go to a lambo dealer either and tell the dude to give me atleast 10K of goodies with it... its ridicilous.

ICS in June? I'll believe it when I see it. I like my Note but it pisses me off when I purchase a cutting edge phone in February, and here we are in June and still no update, while others are receiving their updates.
I give Apple credit there for being better at updates. Much better. No wonder the values of Android devices do not hold up. 3 months old, already outdated, and available for a lot less than what I paid for it.
Ok..I have vented. Again, I like the Note I have, but the thought of going back to Apple is starting to appeal to me again. I pulled out my old iPhone 4 and fired it up, and started the Etrade App I use every day, and on the iPhone it had a voice command feature which is not on the android app. Whats with that anyway? I thought my Note was ahead of my old IP4, and it appears the app developers still cater to Apple.

Yes if Google made one big mistake, it was not learning from Apple's success. Apple owns its phones and demands control over patches and updates. We are being stymied by ATT not by Samsung. Because of the ATT experience on the Android devices we end up waiting forever for an update. My next phone will be a Google phone rather than a branded phone from ATT, so that I can get around this silly delay. Although it will have to compare well with the Note before they can pry this phone away from me.
I wish the phones in the US were more like the European phone as far as distribution goes, the phones there don't tend to have cell provider branding from what I understand and tend to work across more networks. I wouldn't mind paying more phone a phone every couple of years if our service plans were cheaper and the phones were updated more frequently with new software.

Still no real hype, even at Sprint store...

I was very excited at the notion of getting my N3 today. I drive like a mad man to the Sprint store closest to my home. I was expecting to see SOME type of crowd...(2 p.m.).the store was absolutely empty! So I tell the rep that I want to buy the N3, she said they never got any, not even 1 for launch day? In fact, she said that during the morning conference call, there was no mention of the N3 at all, WTF? She didn't know model numbers or anything else about it, do people really hate the Samsung line that much? After driving to the 3rd Sprint store, I bought the only one that was shipped to their store. Overall, I'm kind of miffed that even the store reps aren't/weren't prepared, knowledgeable or even slightly enthusiastic about this launch, but I'm glad I got my phone!
i went straight to best buy and got mine this morning but they did say they had a limited quantity and no accessories.. so i went to the sprint store around the corner to get a case.
they were excited to see mine said they have never seen the phone and didnt get any in
Local Clearwater store had plenty. Despite all the hype of the Note 3, it's always a sleeper at the Sprint store. The same thing happened last year at the Note 2 launch, and that was even more of a bigger hype since it is the first time the Note series is available from Sprint.
You took the time to complain because there was no rabid crowd like the iPhone zealots do every year? You should be thankful. The store I was at had limited stock AND some stores got their shipments and could not locate them.

The sprint store here didn't receive theirs and one radioshack only got white ones while the other didn't get theirs at all. I just decided to order mine straight from sprint to avoid everything and to keep myself from being tempted into a white one.

I had an appointment at Best Buy for 10:00 a.m. this morning. There weren't many people when I arrived but by the time I was done (took almost an hour!) there was a line of about a dozen people and and lots of talk about the Note 3.
Overall I am much more impressed with the look of the phone and the soft texture of the back; much better than I thought it might be based on many comments in the forums.
Best Buy also had the Galaxy Gear but it was tethered and the security device made the watch look so thick and impossible to test fit. The whole presentation did nothing to help sell the device. Overall from what I could see it looked nice but not for $300. I think Samsung and/or Best Buy really missed an opportunity by not offering some kind of Note/Gear bundle. Even $50 discount might have made me consider getting both.

I was passing on an observation, not really meant to be a complaint. But it was if they had no idea that it was a launch date, no display units, no in-store posters, like they hadn't even heard of the phone. I just found it strange, maybe others here don't.
All the stores in Dallas/Ft.Worth got at least 10-20. I got there at 9am with 1 guy waiting and by the time i left after i kept telling the salesman i dont have to give them my phone that is not under contract..... I saw about 4 people leave the store with them.

We are smartphone enthusiasts. Sprint employees or corporate generally do not care. If they do, they would be working with Sony to push their XPERIA line. With a little encouragement and dealing, Sony will add a CDMA version. Look at the mistake with the uniband Note 3 and the lack of waterproof phone.
Get a couple of enthusiasts from XDA to the Sprint corporate board room and the company will be profitable real fast. Sprint corporate is often clueless just like the people at HP, just like the idiots at LG and HTC that decides their phone do not need an SD card. They make $5 mistake that cost them lots of unsold phones and hundreds of millions. Samsung don't have to beat them when they keep making stupid decision like that. Of course, this is just IMHO.
If I was managing the Sprint corporate store, you bet I will be promoting the Note 3 or any flagship phone launch with posters, display, cases, hooking it up to the smart dock, etc.. Look at the home page at Sprint. They are pushing the Iphones. Nothing wrong with that but they should be pushing any new flagship phone launch. They do not have the passion like the John Legre dude at T Mobile.

Thats because no one is trying to hear they only have one option for a plan. lol If you start advertising the Note 3 also people need to be informed that there plan is changing. People hate switching plans especially when the store reps even have a hard time explaining the new plans. Most people can care less about a new phone every yr. We are the minority. I personally thought you get $15 off the plan immediately. Then they tell me you have to wait 2 months. Just very confusing.

My sentiments exactly. I dread going to my corporate sprint store. Yesterday, however, i was plesantly suprised that there was no traffic and i was served instantly upon walking into the store. TWICE. By 12 tho, it was filling up and i was glad i was finished.
It is very weird, regardless of what some will have you believe. I was first at one of my local stores to get one (was the only one in the store for the hour or so it took to futz with my account and activate the phone. Got there at store opening). They had not even taken them out of the shipping box yet. Had to go back to the store this morning and they said that I am still the only one to have gotten one. Inexplicable.
I realize the price bump to give preference to Apple (don't agree with it, but understand) but it's almost like Sprint didn't even want this phone to launch at all. Last to announce launch date. No marketing at all. With millions of Note and Note 2's sold, and several million Note 3's already sold world wide, I really can't figure out what's going on. I have seen companies do a lot of weird things, but whatever is going on with Sprint and the Note 3 is beyond me. Sprint's overall lineup of phones is horrendous anyway, getting a true flagship phone should be more of a big deal to them.
I have to say that I love this phone. Coming from a beat up Epic 4G Touch, this is like upgrading from a Pentium 4 to an i7. This is also the first time I have been able to use LTE and I love it.
There is a business aspect to this. Now trust me I don't want to give Sprint more credit than they deserve for being smart because at the retail level they are any thing but smart. However, the bigger push for Apple in all the stores may be a business decision and by design. If you recall, Sprint had to commit to hundreds of millions if dollars to Apple when they got the iPhone line.
Retail stinks anyhow for all manufacturers. I used to be a vp of salrs for a PC company and always felt like being held hostage to retail reps who can't add any value. I recall the days of ComputerLand when I got them to carry my new really cool laptop. There were two versions and we spent a lot of money and time training and motivating their retail team for the launch. I secret shopped the stores and when I asked the sales team what was the difference between model 1 and 2 he said $199 ....I was smart enough to calculate that myself ....the price was on the display.
Yesterday was another good example. I went to the Sprint store and there were no notes on display although they were in inventory. Then I drove to the Best Buy mobile store. Again nothing on display but a bunch in stock. Talked to store manager who said she was given a demo unit by Samsung a few days ago but didn't open it. She also had a Gear which she said she hasn't opened.
A Samsung experience in BestBuy stores is a good idea to help overcome the retail inefficiencies but ultimately we will pay the extra cost. No wonder internet commerce is a multi billion dollar channel

I almost teared up reading this........ Everything you have stated is correct...
Sprint isn't a very effective VAR for Samsung products and I think they are in so deep with the fruit that they are beginning to regret their metric quotas they are obligated to meet on a quarterly basis in order to be in compliance with the distribution contract they signed in order to get into the very lucrative (Icraze) business model/ecosystem.
I wish Samsung would open a retail brick and mortar but the cult-ish following isn't near the same level as Apple.
So for the near future, we will have to go through the regular channels and hopefully the Samsung experience @ BB can get a foothold and become a starting off point for something better and a more customer orientated experience for Samsung users.

Marketing still going Strong for the LG G2

I'm not sure how advertising for the G2 is in the rest of the world, but I just flew into Jakarta yesterday and they had about 4 tall, thin billboards advertising LG and the G2! Much further down the road was a single Samsung billboard for the Note 3. I'd have to say that the impact wasn't as strong, maybe from non-repetition?
Beyond that, I have heard some great deals such as getting a $100 voucher and free Bluetooth headset. The bonus is that it seems to be cheaper than what prices I have seen for the US.
Go LG, go!
I see a lot of commercials for it on TV here in the US. Amazon has deals for the G2 as low as $99.00 bucks US

Awesome! I was talking to my brother earlier and he was telling me that he had read posts where people were saying LG is supplanting themselves as the #2 android seller next to Samsung. I hope so, but the biggest battle won't be the phone, it'll be support.
In Canada a few ads on the radio and some posters here and there.
Pretty good so far, I'm not sure how well its selling though.

I get my G2 when they first launch in Jakarta, not the pre order. They offering cashback from voucher advertised in newspaper for IDR 500.000. Free bluetooth HBS 730, shopping voucher IDR 1.000.000, Line,s Doll and free data for 6 month. If paid with credit card from famous local bank for 12month installament, you get free 1 month.
Pricelist IDR 6.799.000, I pay 5.799.000 + bonuses.
Today they still doing marketing roadshow, give same bonuses but no cashback.
Sorry info using IDR currency, you can convert it in to yours.
Btw, they launched on 28 sep 2013.
And now have after sale marketing promotuin, G2 owner can give the testimonial to their website and will get G2 Flip Case, power bank, USB OTG and shopping voucher.

@m0ngstr0us - I live in Asia at the moment. Indonesians do prefer Blackberry's, but I've been watching the slow switch to iPhones and Androids. A majority still use Blackberry for work, but it seems like I meet a lot of people that are using iPhone or Android as their primary now.
@gaindauz - Kamu punya link untuk setelah iklan promosi? Can you provide the link for the after sale marketing promotion?
Hot damn look at all the stuff they bundle in Jakarta! I got mine from America and they didn't throw in nothing and I had to fight like hell to get them to price match Costco. In fact, I had to fight them to even get them to sell it to me because they said they had none in stock when their computer said they had 5 but there were none in the case. Even though I told them I stopped in the day before launch and the clerk showed them to me... They insisted there was a mistake and they had none so I left until the afternoon and they miraculously had them when I returned.
I get invited to live in Sweden, Australia and Canada by friends all the time and it's about time I took them up on that. This country needs an enema.

Thanks! There is also a competition from the LG Global site here.
@xyltha - Agreed. I think the US is too saturated for them to market like some companies do here. I have not heard of Samsung doing this, but they are the number one choice here for Android, so LG is trying to get a foothold. When I lived in CA, I always purchased second-hand phones just so that I could get a deal.
Anyways, check the link if you want to enter the Global competition.

Awesome! I was talking to my brother earlier and he was telling me that he had read posts where people were saying LG is supplanting themselves as the #2 android seller next to Samsung. I hope so, but the biggest battle won't be the phone, it'll be support.

That's funny. I just read the numbers the other day for top selling cell phone manufacturers by marketshare..
1. Samsung 35%
2. Apple 20 something %
3. LG 4%
Nowhere close to the top 2, but they're in 3rd. lol.

I never said they were. If you re-read my post, I said cell phone manufacturers, not android phone manufacturers. My point was they are 3rd overall out of all cell phone manufacturers. My second point was their small amount of market share doesn't come close to samsung even after adding in dumb phones and windows phones. In the grand scheme of things, while they may be 3rd overall or 2nd behind Samsung for androids, they still have a long way to go to really become a true competitor.
I'm glad that marketing is still going strong. My last phone, the LG Nitro, never had any commercials or any sort of advertising. The dev community reflected that. I'm glad to see this device getting a good amount of dev support.

@crashN2u - I think you had needed to re-read my post... Moving on.
@TNT321BOOM - That sucks. I was never really into phones until the S3. I decided to see what all the rage was about and got lucky that the one I chose had a huge dev community. LG is doing better, so I expect them to start enticing more devs to come.
Seen quite a bit of advertising for the G2. Pleasantly surprised. This phone deserves to be considered by most people. It's a very solid device.

I have a Note 3 I am willing to donate to Outler.

As the title stated I have a Note 3 that I "can" donate to Adam. Please in response to this thread do NOT make mention of $ donations, pay-pal, or your favorite pets piggy bank. Kush of any kind, side shooters and hashish are also not to be mentioned. With that being said I would like to donate (for a good cause) my Verizon Galaxy Note 3 to Outler. Also this phone is my daily driver but I have a galaxy note 2 that I could be using if it were no longer broken. It needs the complete screen assembly. So if someone happened to have extra parts laying around or knew of extremely cheap parts for sale, I could fix my note 2 and ship out my note 3 to a cool guy that does cool stuff with hardware on awesome phones. I live in the Dallas area.
I re read the XDA rules and this post does not appear to violate any of them, but I also understand that interpretation is 93% of any rule/law. I am however not asking for donations for any reason and I am NOT asking for money at all. Thank you and good day.

Not sure what's wrong with your note 2, but if its the digitizer sensor board ~$14
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Digitiz...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item3cd73f961d
or the lens ~$13
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Touch-S...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item4174b88d2b
If its the LCD, then those are running like $140+
From your post sounds like all 3, but figured i'd drop those for reference.
Yeah it needs all three parts. :crying: thought it would be worth a shot though.

While I do thank you for the kindness and gesture, I am able to get in touch with him. I may have to wait a week or two until I can get parts for my note 2, but the moment my note 2 is operational I will FedEx the Note 3 overnight to him. The note 3 was free to me so I'm not at a loss in re-gifting it. I will upgrade my other line in due time to another 3 when and if the boot loader is unlocked or a custom recovery/kernel is flashable.
Like I said before, if you have a Note 2 laying around or parts to fix mine, I am not against paying for the parts but I don't have much money..... (3 kids @ Baylor are keeping me at the poverty line) literally.
Correct me if im wrong but don't ERD's get devices to develop for anyways?

I don't think I have posted that before...
I think people should start considering their intentions before purchasing a model, if they want unlocked they need to support the dev versions. It is showing the carriers which products are wanted. If they see a larger number of dev units on their network, they are more likely to give them greater support.

Some people can't pay the 700 and something deductible. And the only way they probable could is buy the note 3 and keep it in the box then to and it on swappa. Then wait until it to get sold, then purchase it from sammy. And 9/10 times it's out of stock.

I totally agree with this; however, I was in the situation where I purchased the retail version before I knew there was going to be a dev version. Unfortunately I was too sick of my older slower phone and I purchased the Note 3 right away. Maybe someone mentioned the dev phone prior to the release or maybe that's a trend, but I unfortunately did not read it or did not know to expect it. From now on I will not buy a device unless it is a dev model. That doesn't help my current situation, so I thank anyone spending time on solving this one. I know it might not ever be solved, but efforts towards that end are appreciated. Thank you @drag&fly for being willing to contribute to the cause.

Carriers? Besides Play Edition devices, the only carrier offering development devices is Verizon, and even then, they don't offer them. Motorola and Samsung are attempting to band-aid our market share they don't want to lose to another manufacturer like HTC or Sony. With the exception of AT&T and VZW, everyone else has the freedom to do as they please. I strongly disagree, as a couple thousand developer devices vs. millions of retail devices, they don't care one bit. This whole 'Dev Device' business model is Samsung's attempt at a band-aid Verizon's position on device modification. They should start differentiating corporate devices vs. consumer devices. Verizon caters heavily to the enterprise market, especially government organizations and large corporations, so the need for enterprise security created the bastard child known as Samsung Knox and LG Gate. RIM's fall from it's Blackberry throne really stung. Samsung wanted a piece of the pie. If we want to do something about it, switch carriers, not devices. Leave Verizon and AT&T en masse. I mean Verizon charges for 2GB of data instead of unlimited (was same price for me) because they insist this is what consumers wanted. What a joke. T-Mobile now offers international data for free off your data plan, in addition to acquiring the lower 700Mhz block, which will only help them even more with greater signal penetration (something they were struggling with outside of urban/suburban environments.) It's also not very realistic for people in the United States to adopt to the lower tariff/higher device cost model like Europe has. They've engrained subsidization deeply into the mobile industry, although some are starting to shake loose. Motorola is helping quite a bit. It's a complex issue, but truly Verizon is the enemy, and we should all abandon ship. Oh, and AT&T sucks too.

The perks of GSM... but you are right, I suppose if you aren't locked in a CDMA market, that's most certainly an option.
I think people are forgetting about what this community is all about. why give up and settle for the dev version so fast?

As @AdamOutler once said
Why not just buy a developer edition?
GTFO! Not a single person got started developing by buying a developer phone. They started developing because they were unhappy with the features of their device and wanted something better. They wanted something more. This developer phone is a tax on developer innovation. We do not stand for that. We will break the security and we will enable XDA-Developers to do what they do best.
Until security is broken and available for everyone, this device will get updates last, users will be unhappy because there are no additional features and Samsung violates the spirit of Open Source and copyright laws. Take a look at the bottom line of GPL-Violations.org FAQ located here: http://gpl-violations.org/faq/sourcecode-faq.html

By the way, what happened I thought Adam was ERD. Look here http://www.xda-developers.com/xda-t...stion-and-answer-session-qa-xda-developer-tv/
Plus AT&T doesn't have Dev edition of N3 and even if it did college student like me wont be able to afford something that was priced outrageously. Personally I think carrier should let customers choose between Regular phone or Dev phone and if you choose dev phone and brick it, then its your responsibility.

Looks like Samsung via Carriers and Retail outlets. Here's Samsung's Notification.
My AT&T store told me today that I'd get $25.00 then another $75.00. Samsung is footing the bill for everything including refund of the Notes and All accessories (even non-Samsung accessories, I got a refund for the screen protectors I bought).
If that's all they are doing then they will probably lose a lot of customers. This has been nothing but a headache for the last month. Getting $100 to change to a phone that will be replaced by a new model in February doesn't seem like much to me. Especially when they still expect you to pay full price for it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N930A using Tapatalk
When the N7 came out, I swapped my N5 for it via a Next trade-in. When the N7 was re-recalled this week, I swapped it for an S7e, which is the closest alternative.
But the S7e, though it has some improvements (especially IP68), is in other ways a downgrade from the N5: smaller display, excessively curved edges (corrected in the N7), no stylus. Even after the $100 refund, I've paid hundreds of dollars to switch from the N5 to the S7e, which I would never have chosen to do in the first place.
Therefore, I think AT&T has an obligation to reset my installment balance and my upgrade-eligibility to what they were before I traded in my N5. The current situation amounts to a forced purchase, for hundreds of dollars, of a product I never agreed to buy.

Yes I had the Note 7 on Next upgrade , I had the actual replacement one, I never had the original one and I had it since 23rd of sept. and returned it this monday the 10th and they took it back with no questions asked, refunded my 52.00 for tax, waived the 45.00 restock fee and reinstated my upgrade i had on my line, only thing I didn't back get was the 20.00 upgrade fee for the Next plan.
I paid cash for mine on the release date. Customer Care just said I am able to return it to a store for a full credit and close my account if desired. Now I need to look into my options. I'm not happy with AT&T in general. If I move to another carrier I must have WiFi calling. I do have a microCell if I remain with AT&T. I may just go back to my Note 3 until February (S8 release).
It gets a little sticky because of the S2 watch I got as part of the deal. I will walk away with a 256GB SD card. Decisions Decisions. What a mess this is.
