Hi all, I am planning to buy Elephone P6i as a spare phone. I like the look and it is perfect size for me. I own few Chinese brand Android devices but I haven't bought an Elephone. Review of some Elephone devices looks good but again I haven't found any on this particular model. Please let me know if you found a good review about it.
My question is about the screen quality that I should expect from it. It is a 5" qHD (960 x 540) which is 220 PPI. I have a Nexus 7 2012 which has 216 PPI though it has higher resolution. Can I expect to see similar display on 5" qHD screen as in Nexus 7 2012?
I know it will depend on the hardware quality etc, but technically, should screen with similar PPI give the same display quality regardless the resolution? Thank you.
Hello,
I currently own xperia z2 but I'm thinking about changing to lg g3.
I've already had lg g2 and those devices have nice os as they have some features from Samsung.
I don't care about 1gb ram less or even waterproofness, but I'm wondering how the daily usage is.
When I've been trying the lg in a local store it seemed a bit laggy in animations. Also I'm wondering if the audio encoder for headphones has been improved, as there was some weird noise on lg g2 when listening to quiet music.
It would be nice to know the opinion of people who have already used g3 and z2, as they will probably know which one is better.

I upgraded from lg g3 to z2 and i never been happier since and i don't regret it!!! I won't change back even if i get it for free((?))
QHD is overrated and on a 5.5 screen you'll find no difference ((only if you see with a magnifier))
To keep it simple here's a comparison for you :
LG G3 over Xperia Z2
Bigger screen - 5.5" vs. 5.2"
Higher resolution screen - 1440p vs. 1080p
Improved low-light laser-assisted auto focusing
Dual-LED true-tone flash
32GB of built-in storage is an option
IR blaster
The back cover has wireless charging support
Xperia Z2 over LG G3
IP58 certification for dust and water resistance
Bigger, higher resolution camera sensor - 1/2.3" 20.7MP vs. 1/3" 13MP
More RAM - 3GB vs. 2GB (on the 16GB LG G3)
4k, [email protected] and [email protected] video recording
Stereo speakers
Bigger battery - 3,200mAh vs. 3,000mAh
ANT+ support
Noise cancelling headphones
If you prefer screen resolution and size go g3
If you prefer performance, build quality, good camera, ram and ip58(like me) go z2
The post above sums up why i went for Z2 over any other device
I would even now simply because the price is good for what it is
1080p is still a sharp screen and with the Z2 camera you can take near profetional quality

Thanks for the answer, now you convinced me to stick to Z2.
I can see some info copied from the Internet
I know the specs exactly, but the performance for me is the most important.
Even the smallest laggs in OS annoy me very fast, so I guess I'll stick to Z2, although nothing can beat the OS from HTC One m8.

I disagree on HTC ONE m8 performance!!! Nothing beats the speed lagless AOSP!!!
htc sony samsung.... OS is a modified AOSP based OS!!!
I tried AOSP roms on my z2 they are snappy and very fast but they lack some of sony apps which i need like 4k recording, camera apps and ultra and stamina mode so i switched back!!!
If you don't care about these sony apps try AOSP and you'll see a big difference in speed!!!
I recommend pacman rom and kernel m5... Lightniiiiiiiiiiiing!!! [emoji298] [emoji298] [emoji298] [emoji298]
Yeah, I've been talking about stock based roms, where the htc is a king. Of course all of the clean android roms are faster, but the days I've been using it are gone along with note 2, as samsungs roms were always laggy.

Highlights to look forward to:
Quad HD Triluminos display
4 GB of RAM
Running Android 5.0 Lollipop and its 64-bit kernel
A new camera sensor and two more lens elements for collecting more light. Dual LED flash expected.
3420 mAh battery
Bad points:
Z4 Ultra expected to feature a 5.9" screen, not a 6.4'' panel
Lower 16Mp Camera for Z4 Ultra. Z4 Expected to have 20.7Mp.
Source indicate the Z4 & Z4 Ultra will be equipped with an 805 generation

Yeah, when I read it'll be smaller I was put off.
I don't mind if it was decreased to 6.2 or 6.1 but under 6.

5.4 and 5.9 no point then. needs to be 6.25 to 6.5. Should be getting eaiser to make the beziles smaller to decrease the overall size
5.9 inch and Snapdragon 805? Completely uninteresting. It will be to use the Ultra and then hope that there will be a Z5 Ultra or a Z4 Tablet Compact with 810, otherwise time to switch brands. Coolpad has a 7 incher that is promising - not in the current version, though but they got the screen right (1080p).
6.5-7 inch is what I want for sure but in case of "emergency" (i.e. lack of suitable devices), a Z4 Tablet Compact could do the trick next year.

Agreed. There are plenty of manufacturers producing large devices having super thin bezels.
Sony need to catch up and start making nicer slimmer bezels...
They could easily produce a 6.2-6.5'' phone having a nice thin bezel whilst being physically smaller than our current Z Ultras, nothing wrong with that...
should be same screen size + much smaller bezels
I dont care too much about camera - its a 'note' device
If you want good photos, you should buy a real camera - we all know that sony cameras are crap on own sony devices
S805 isn't worth the upgrade.
It's speed gains are neglible.
I'll happily stick with the ZU for a long time.
5.9? Yeah I will go back to the nexus line with the Nexus 6.
If this phone was actually a phone I would buy it!

I don't think Sony should even consider calling it an ultra unless it's at least 6.2" display.
I think i would rather go to a 7" tablet with small bezels than go smaller that that.
5.9 screen is false news. Ultra will remain 6.4 with QHD. SD810 and 4 GB of ram. Camera I do not know. Also the usb cap and magnetic charger pin wil be gone.

By the way no Z4 at CES. MWC it is.

And TouchWiz and phone mode 640 DPI and....
I have checked the Note 4 and no, I don't see anything it can do that I can't do on my C6833. On the contrary, rather.
It is good that the Z4 Ultra seems to be 6.44 again. This is very good news, lets just hope for a Snapdragon 810. If not, I guess I will wait for it to come down in price (not interested in buying an 805 device full price since the upgrade from the 800 isn't worth it).
I would buy it, however, the Quad Hd combo with a relatively large screen is a concern for battery life.

That makes a sense as if its was 5.9 they couldn't call it ultra I'm happy too I will upgrade definitely.

Correct, however, Sony will need to upgrade the battery to at least 4000 mAh which is indeed very possible.
Simply make the phone a little thicker and throw in a larger battery.
There are several handsets already having 4000 mAh batteries yet remain very thin.
^^, especially as the current ultra is too thin as it is (and with only so so battery life). was hoping for a 4000mah battery in this to be honest, 5000 in next
Im in the market for a 7 or 8 inch tablet, but upon searching google for the best android tab every site is raving about the z4 tablet.

it mainly depends what size you prefer. obviously the Z4 is a little bit more cutting edge with a higher res display, faster processor, better camera, but both are lovely tablets that can still run anything at their respective resolutions.
i always thought i'd go for 7-8" tablets when i bought one because they are a good portable middle ground, but phones are already quite big these days so i went for a Z4 so it actually makes a noticeable difference in experience compared to the phone, and the Z4 is one of the lightest 10" tablets ever made and as a result feels really easy and comfortable to hold even in one hand compared to other 10" tablets that might have given you feeling that they are too big.
Ive played with a samsung tab s 10.5 (its pretty light too) and i just prefer a smaller footprint. My old nexus 7 was the perfect size but im willing to go up to 8inches if the z3 is the best smaller android tablet
I've got both and surprisingly the performance of both isn't too different to each other, even though one has a QualComm 801 32-bit v 810 64-bit. I think there are still optimisations yet to come for the Z4.
Its down to screen size for now and if you really want that expensive keyboard. For me, yes, 10.1 inch screen for fun + work / productivity is great. Z3 is still an excellent tablet.
I want to buy S21 Plus but I know that Ultra has a higher screen resolution. Has anyone been able to put the two side by side and examine them? Is the difference in resolution visible to the naked eye?
I am currently using S8 Plus in FHD mode. In theory ,S21 Plus has lower PPI than S8 Plus when use it FHD mode bcz of bigger screen.
It depends on your visual acuity and what you're viewing. You can try for yourself by comparing an image at two different resolutions (of the correct ratio) side-by-side on your monitor, viewed from a distance that creates the same pixel density in your visual field as your phone has.
I've got 20/15 vision, I can't tell any difference. Even holding the s21 ultra an inch from your face and changing resolution, you can't tell a difference. The benefit of the ultra is better zoom camera and battery life (mostly from the lower power display).

Some can't, some can. It depends in part at what you're looking at. If there's text or other visual detail that's just at the border of what can be resolved at the higher resolution, then it's illegible at the lower resolution.
I can tweak the resolution back and forth on my Ultra and there is a difference, it's very subtle but it's there, to be fair FHD+ is more than good enough for everything though.
