Mi Box 3 (Android TV MDZ-16-AB) restart after boot animation - Android Stick & Console AMLogic based Computers

Hi guys,
just buyed a Mi Box 3 Intenational Version (MDZ-16-AB) two weeks ago. Suddendly, after two days of use, the power supply died. Bought a PSP one that works. The problem is that now it don't pass the boot animation, it restarts. It sometimes even show "Android" but then it restarts again. I've tried every guide on the internet for this model and nothing works. I've tried:
- using the images that you only have to put in USB disk and reboot into recovery
- putting the update.zip into the USB disk and then "Install from EXT" -> "udisk"
I always do a factory reset before install an image.
Nothing works, unfortunally. The box stills bootloop. I'm out of ideas so I came for your help.
Do you know any way to get the Mi Box back to stock an working? Do this already happened to someone?
Thank you.

The MiBox uses a very specific 5.2v 2A power supply.
Have seen many problems with more common 5.0v power supplies that dont match MiBox spec.
The huge internal heat sink is the reason for 5.2v requirement.

Are you sure that can be the reason? The only 5.2 2A adapters that I can found costs 20€. Thats almost half of what I paid for the for, would not want to spent that without certain.
Here's the charger that I buyed:

Can someone test it or confirm it please?

Anyone?

Hi guys! Just to close the subject, it was the charger. I stripped down the 4mm x 1.7 mm of the original charger and a USB cable and put them together. Using the improvised cable with a iPad charger (5.15v 2.1 A) the box lives again .
TL;DR : use a charger with the exact box specifications or the box will not work.

Has anyone here tried one of these cheap ones from Hong Kong?
They are cheaper than the nearest option, and come with the right plug too.
It can't be expensive cause it consist only from ac/dc adaptor, usb plug and battery charger. I think it's right device.

I'm sure it is, I just wondered if it's likely to be good quality.
Tell you what, I'll order one and report back here once I've used it.
As promised, I bought it and here's the verdict.
Basically, it does what it says on the tin. There was a slight problem with the usb connection, but that was always the case with this computer unless I use a particular lead. Using the lead that came with it, it wouldn't connect. but using the one I normally use it works fine.

Having used cradles before, this one is slightly more awkward to connect but that's because it uses the usb connector. Previous ones have been spring loaded contacts and the pda would just drop into the cradle. This one requires a little force, but nothing major.
I've yet to determine if the charger works as fast as the original one.
All in all, well worth the money.

Hmm, seems I spoke too soon. The PDA won't charge unless the computer is on.
The 5V adaptor plugs into the back of the stand, as does the usb lead. Either of these will bring on the blue LED on the base, but the usb lead lights it brighter. I suspect there may be some problem with the 5V from the adaptor.
I shall investigate and report back (if anyone's reading this...)
charging with PC off
Hi -- I think I've got the same charger as you, and mine seems to charge fine with the computer powered off. . .
Alan
Having investigated further, it appears that the +5V from the charger and the +5V from the USB are linked directly. This means that with either one connected singly, it's fine, with both connected and the PC on, it's also fine.
But, with the PC off the +5V from the charger is fed back through the USB lead into the PC which pulls down the voltage somewhat.
I discovered this when I turned off the PC and noticed some front panel lights glowing slightly. I unplugged the cradle and they went off, and the blue LED on the charger became brighter.
dock
hi,
i've got the same "hong kong" dock as xmastree.
I think this is a good dock, simple and cheap.

contact 1 is about the cradle.tape contact 1 then connect the plug.
look,system show cradle setting ui!
so,diy cradle is so easy:
just make some cradle size ok,
tape the 1st contact of power plug, and set it on the cradle.
done!
it will work same as official cradle
Hey!
First of all: That sounds really great!
But I do not have a lot of experience with such things so I do not have any idea how to construct such an adapter (ok, the technical way is clear so far, but how to construct the case of the adapter?)...
Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks and kind regards

Let me know where you can get the DC plug from, as, I'd like to make a car adaptor, as far as I know, it's a Sony Special and not available (yet?)!!!
Wow, this is a great idea, <robin>! Thanks!
I tried this, and although the cradle function is activated on the tablet (as shown in the OP), it didn't charge after I taped that pin 1 on the charger plug...

HDMI Display Along With USB Features

I looking for a little information as to if it is possible to mirror using HDMI and simultaneously utilize the USB functions for mass storage and other USB connectivity. I would like to build a media station but before I gathered up all the items necessary I wanted to know if it is possible?
As you know, the mini usb out to MHL adaptor is used for HDMI mirroring. When you plug your charger into the MHL adaptor it is for powering only the MHL. So, no you can't use usb for anything.
Can you do whatever else you want by bluetooth or wifi? Like keyboard or mouse or what?
I have not been around for a while I have lost touch with things but I know that MHL is for mirror display. I had older phones where I made concoctions where I could charge and at the same time use USB functions. Just needed a lil help with the pin out to know if it was possible or not. I want to use my device as a media center where it is the game console, substitute PC, and etc. Just trying to find a way to make that happen.

Friend, don't take my response the wrong way. I am not being condesending. When I answer a question I try to answer not just to you but to the others that may read our discusion and not know what you know. So please, no offense intended at all.
Anyway, is there any possibility using bluetooth or wifi?

Looks like the note can't but the SIII can.
If anyone is looking for the samething as I was check out the threads that show you how to Bluetooth the PS3 controlled to your android device. I have done it, and it is awesome.

So my bluetooth suggestion was the correct direction? Cool. I didn't think the MHL adaptor our phone uses was flexible at all.
Thanks for sharing.
If you feel you need the credit then it is all yours. Congrats!

No thanks, keep it. You seem very stingy.

Fuhu Nabi 2 Usb charging

Warning, your warrantee is now void. I take no responsibility for damaged devices doing this mod, nor any issues that may arise in the future from doing this
Just felt like posting this little mod I did to a Nabi 2. After re soldering tge wires on the oe charge cable it finally couldnt be fixed anymore. It didnt take long for me to get frustrated with the flimsy, thin charge...thing, and rip it open to see what could be done.
After a little poking and prodding I found the simplest solution.
It seems the 5v pin on the usb port is electrically separate from the charge circuit, but they all share a common ground. Soldering directly to the usb port was all but impossible because of how the port is designed, and my soldering iron isnt that tiny, but I found a resistor tied to the 5v pin.
I soldered a wire to the resistor since it had a decent surface area to get a solid solder joint, then soldered the wire to the positive pin on the charge port. The result? Micro usb charging.
I have found a bit of a glitch however. Plugging the device into a pc does properly kick it into usb storage mode, but because of the low amperage, it begins to cycle the charge system between charging an not (as if contantly plugging and unplugging the device) the same happens if you use a charger rated lower than 1amp or a bad cable.
Besides that it seems to be doing fine

Thanks. Not sure why I didn't think of this years ago. Been searching for the original cable to try and make some use of the tablet and decided to see if it was possible to charge via usb. Couldn't have been easier to modify and it works perfectly.

Archos Core 70 Mediatek tablet as car install

Hi. I'm swapping the 7" factory flip up sat nav in my Mazda 6 with an Archos Core 70 running Nougat. Here's how it's looking so far.
Now I need to figure out a power scheme. It seems with Mediatek tablets there are problems with accessing the bootloader, specifically that I want to change "fastboot oem off-mode-charge 0" so the tablet boots on usb power. Is that even possible with this tablet?
If not there may be an option to remove the tablet battery and wire the tablet directly to the car battery (5V or 3.7V?), always on, and also have usb power with ignition. Then the tablet should think it's at 100% battery, I could get it to sleep/wake on usb power and maybe have a switch to kill all power if the car's going to be sat for a while (I'll have access to the tablet power button with a toothpick).
What sort of drain might sleep mode be on the car battery?
Would it be bad to cut all power to an Android device while it's in sleep mode?
Thanks for reading.
So not having any more info on changing fastboot settings I've focused on the removing the battery way. I gave the battery terminals 4.5V (nearest I had to the 4.2V I found the battery actually gives on full charge with a multimeter), and it booted, showed 100% battery and recognised a usb power input. So I didn't have to remove the board from the battery like it seems you have to do with the Nexus 7 to get it to read 100% charge. I'll get an adjustable step down converter to get from 12V to 4.2V.

Now I need to wait for the otg usb hub and DAB receiver to turn up and see if I can run DAB while giving charge to the tablet. Then, hopefully I can use the Tasker app to deep sleep/wake on usb power.
I still haven't found an answer to whether I can safely cut all power through a switch for when the car is sat for a prolonged amount of time. I suppose I'll try it and see if it bricks my tablet or not.
Things are looking promising though
