Have Telstra 9011T Kernel DVKF4. I want to root but the insecure kernel for that version is not available yet but I have been told to use a kernel as close as possible to my current one when I root. Anyone else rooted on Telstra and what kernel did you use?
bear in mind too once I root I only want to do backup and then Im going to install custom ROM anyway so the insecure kernel I use will get replaced so all I want is a kernel that will be sufficient for doing root and backup and then it will be replaced
Thanks
I don't no if you have seen this thread :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166701

Hello, and many thanks for your great efforts here. I have purchased a new i9100p mobile. Now, i want to root then try a new ROM. My kernel is 3.0.15-i9100pxxlps-cl674609, so i have downloaded a root file '' CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LPS-v5.4-CWM5'' is this right?
second thing, after making it with odin, do i have to install superuser? or just root with the above file and i am rooted? and later i can install any ROM.
last question, now i am on 4.03 originall stock firmware, and i want to try custom Rom 4.4.1, is it possible after rooting?
help me please, i am a noob
The CF Root method is meant for the I9100. But since I9100P is almost identical to the I9100 (except for NFC), that file should work. However, I suggest you go for Philz kernels, which includes root kernels meant for the I9100P also.
After flashing CF Root or Philz kernels via Odin, you don't need to install Superuser app. It will be installed automatically. And yes, you can try any custom ROM after rooting, including 4.4.1.
Hello,
I have read there are many ways to root the 9100P:
in your opinion which one is the best method?
anyone please ?
@LiquidEr you could try framaroot or to flash first an recovery like philz if you are on stock dont forget to find a good kernel/recovery matching your rom since the S2 has both in one and then flash an flashable su zip. Or try to find one flashable root with odin.
Try framaroot first and if that doesnt work find another application that root your phone.
Or try this through your stock recovery if you are still on stock 4.1.2:

Hello,
Quick question: is there any way for me to flash official Pie ROM and still keep root with Magisk? If so, can anyone briefly lead me in the right direction?
I have some experience with flashing ROMs, rooting and all that, so no worries there. Just wanna know if it's possible. Thanks!
Install pie, then flash magisk again after update.
Need help with installing any custom rom on my device i am on stock firmware and stock kernel.

Any guides or anything, yes ive tryed many methods to unsuccess, maybe ive done something wrong, is anyone on this with any help please?
You're going to have to downgrade the phone firmware to a version before Last year April. for some reason Huawei broke the ability to flashing custom roms after it.
