missing pictures on sd card - LG G5 Questions & Answers

I take pictures with the camera and they saved on the sd card.
when i wanted to send some of them on whatsapp i notices that i have files with "x" on them in the whatsapp add file option.
then, it's dissappear and i couldn't find the pictures at all.
it's just from specific time and the pictures before are fine.
I was looking for them at the gallary via quick pic and also via file explorer but nothig.
I tried some recover pc programs including sandisk RescuePRO Deluxe and no pictures or files at all.
I changed the option to save the pics on the internal memory and i'm scared to change it back.
I have original G5 stock rom and no root + 64gb sd card sandisk original.
Anyone knows if i can find the lost pics? it's very important to me.

root it and try disk digger but what ever you do dont do a lot on the device as downloads and such can overwrite the file locations where the pictures where.

it's in the DCIM folder.
and i prefer not to do root cause then the warranty will cancele.

[Q] How do i recover deleted photos from cache on SD card

I took pics with my X10i whilst roaming and when my phone alerted me to delete some pics to create more space, i deleted from the gallery but instead of deleting the folder i selected it deleted all my pics. i thought i was lost but after playing around and searching my files and folders on the SD card, i found the Hi-res image cache and noted that all my pics are there... what a relief... but now my question is : How do i recover these files from cache as when i connected to my pc(running win7) it shows the files and i am able to open via internet explorer but when i click "save as" it says windows cannot find file specified"... please help
Try undelete (for android) or google for files recovery for pc. It should restere them but I don't think it will be high def.

ASTRO deleting files? Or is it the phone?? Help!

I just got the new Evo LTE, and I had photos on phone storage/internal storage. Using ASTRO, I tried to move them into my new 16gb SD card (it was clean, fully formatted and everything). However, it stated that the "MOVE FAILED." and then the pictures were just gone! They didn't go back to the original location or anything, it seems as if they were deleted off the phone and SD card completely!
Was it the phone? Or was it ASTRO? Should I have not mingled with the internal storage and the external storage the way I did? Is there any way I can get those photos back (there were about 500 photos)??
Please help, I've grown desperate. I even went to the sprint store but no luck.
no comment on the error (although I've only moved that many photos back and forth between the phone and card while plugged into the computer), but I've used Hexamob Recovery PRO *ROOT* with great success to restore accidentally deleted photos (there's a free version too - I don't know what the difference is). You should also consider automatic photo backup through dropbox if/when you're able to recover them.
I have to root this phone to be able to use that? I wasn't planning on rooting it yet because I just got it.. Is there another way to recover them? I don't even know if it'll be found in the SD card or the internal memory..
I think all of the "undelete" apps (and there are a few of them out there) require root - sorry.

CM9 / AOKP BUG: Photo delete

Hey guys ever since I installed CM9 or AOKP I have run in to a problem that my photos saved on my SD card will not delete.
So if you want to try it, change storage to SD card, take a picture and go to the gallery and delete it. Reboot phone and go back in to the gallery and its still there. If storage is in internal storage, it deletes fine. It really gets annoying that I have to use file explorer to delete photos.
I have found this online http://code.google.com/p/hercskycm/issues/detail?id=105 It is for another samsung device with the same issue with CM9.
I just want to know if anyone can make a zip patch or something? I tried to edit /init.emmc.rc and added the one line and it did nothing.
Thanks

My solution to this problem was to install quickpic
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder&hl=en
It does will delete the images from your ext_sd
OP, just upgrade to cm10.
cm9 is so last month anyway

Lost files using Hide it pro

Please help me i've tried everithing...
I have a very large stash of pics that I kieep in Hide it pro app. I've set the app to unhide to a folder and them move that folder to the pc. when I tryed to open the folder on the PC I saw that there was only one photo inside (the first one) all the other 200 where lost.
I've run to the vault directory of hide it pro and there were the files, try to copy them and it was impossible, so I reboot the phone and the files were gone. GONE!
Now I've try to recover them with disk digger and other recovery software without any luck. If I could I would made a complete backup of the phone internal memory and them mount it has a drive and simply use recuva to get the files. But the process is to hard to understand and I can't see to know how to copy all content using adb not to the sd card but to the PC. My sd card is smaller than the internal memory so it'll not be able to acomodate a raw file from that size (64gb).
Any ideas? I believe that the files are simply lost on a regular hard drive or sd card it'll be easy but on the phone internal memory is a hell of a problem to get them out. Note that I must find the photos that are now archives with a changed name, hide it pro changes the file name...
please help.. thank you
Usually two or three people a week post about deleted files, search and read for hundreds of examples. It is possible to dump a raw file with ADB but you're trying to unscramble eggs.

Screenshots uploaded to Google Photos

Screenshots taken on POCO F1 are getting stored under "DCIM\Screenshots".
Google Photos is automatically backing up all the folders under DCIM thinking it's the camera roll.
So all the screenshots are getting automatically uploaded to Google Photos.
Is there any workaround for this? Is anyone else facing this issue?
I do not known if this can be called "a workaround", but after installing SD card you can instruct camera to save photos on SD card, by doing this you separate actual photos (on SD card) from screenshots (still saved in internal memory) and then it should be possible to switch off back-up of internal DCIM folder.
In Google Photos Settings > Back up & Sync > Back up device folders > choose the ones you want to backup
Oh, i got what you meant.... Yep, got the same problem, haven't found any workaround except maybe using third party apps to take screenshots.

"switch off back-up of internal DCIM folder" - is not an option in google photos
I was hoping that after change of default camera folder, internal DCIM folder will be treated as any other folder, where you can switch of-on Google Photos backup. I was able finally to do some tests on Sunday and unfortunately, I was wrong. Even with default camera folder on SD card, internal DCIM folder is still treated as camera folder, without possibility to no backup.
Have you tried creating ".nomedia" named file inside the said directory? Do try that, it should work.
Whenever I get new phone, I create these files in all directories from where I wouldn't want my whatsapp photos, music, ringtones to show up in gallery, photos and music apps.
You can use ES manager to create that. Just go to the required folder, create new > select text and rename it to ".nomedia" without quotes. As the name starts with a period, it becomes a hidden file and won't show up.

Edit: I tried it myself and it doesn't work. Maybe nomedia file should exit under DCIM but then it will probably stop new photos showing up in photos app.
.nomedia doesnt work.
. nomedia file works for the phone gallery but not for Google photos. Either Google allows lets it's users to unselect DCIM subfolders or Xiaomi moves its screenshot folder out of DCIM.
I really wonder why the developers are not doing anything about it.
This is so damn true. God knows when Xiaomi gonna fix this matter. Why more people are not raising voice for this issue I've no idea.
If it is causing such anguish and trouble, why don't all of you raise it in mi forums where Xiaomi developers are sure to see it?
