Have downloaded some videos onto the phone via kies but some of them have transferred badly. After an age of looking I have absolutely no idea how to delete them.
They don't appear in the files folder, you cannot tap and hold to delete, and there is no delete option on the video. Does anyone know how I can get rid of these videos.

If you know the location open via My Files menu and delete .
Or use USB mass storage mode and delete via PC .
If you dont know the location check where Kies put them .

Gone into my files and there is nothing in there at all.
Cannot see anywhere on Kies to show me where it has put them
Gone into the USB mass storage mode when you plug into the PC and again you get the same folders as on the phone and all are blank
This is a major screw up by samsung if you can't just select a video and delete it as I am struggling here. Are there any apps out there to find these files?

I don't actually understand the 'file structure' on this phone. Where is everything stored?
When I connect my phone to the PC, I get two distinct drives, H: and F:
From what I can see the INTERNAL phone memory (which comes up as H: on the PC), is located at /mnt/sdcard.
What is the 'external_sd' folder that's located at /mnt/sdcard/external_sd actually for? It doesnt seem to correspond to the sdcard that's in the phone.
How to I access the sd card mamory from file manager within the phone?
I've tried looking for the videos I recorded using ES File Manager, but I cant find them anywhere...
Glad I am not alone with this one. Samsung need to sort it quick. At the moment I am wondering do you fill up the internal card and thats it because you cannot delete the videos?
external_sd is a link to whatever memory card you put in, it seems weird to me as well. In astro under tools - sd card usage this gives a treesize type view which might help track down your missing files.
downloaded astro file manager and done a search on the file name and has come upp with
/mnt/sdcard/DCIM/Camera/*****
**** being the file name
I then press and hold and on the menu that opens select show directory and there they all are. I then press the multi icon and was then allowed to select the file and delete it.

In fact I now go into the files folder in the applications screens, then DCIM and now a camera folder is there with them all in. That was not there before but is now after installing and searching with Astro file manager

The sdcard/DCIM/Camera folder is where the pictures and videos taken with the camera go to, if it wasn't there before, I assume you've never taken a picture or recorded a video before.

These videos came from Kies and they were nowhere to be seen until I downloaded astro file manager. What is strange now is the DCIM folder says 0 as though it is empty but it is now full of these videos from Kies when you open it. All very strange and it only appeared after I did the search. before it there was nothing even in astro file manager.
I did take 2 photos the other day and again they have suddenly appeared in this folder

Thanks for that. That's what I thought, but the first time I tested it it didn't work, I just tried again and it worked just fine. I put a file onto the sdcard and it appeared in the external_sd folder.
One other question, /sdcard and /mnt/sdcard both seem to point to the internal memory. Is there a reason it's listed twice?

One other question, /sdcard and /mnt/sdcard both seem to point to the internal memory. Is there a reason it's listed twice?
when using my camera I can't use the gallery icon in the bottom corner of the screen, when I click it it just says "no items".
I suspect this is due to me running different firmwares such as CM7, between the different firmwares the camera gives the pictures different file names but keeps them in the same DCIM location.
Is there any software I could use to batch rename the files maybe to keep them in the same format? I'd want the dates of the photos staying intact if possible?

maybe when you change your firmware you took backup all your gallery into your ext sd.
make sure that your dcim location is in your internal sd.
the gallery icon in the camera app shows only the files that are stored into your internal SD (internal storage) not at your external SD.
Try and tell me if i helped.
dcim has always been on internal sd, ive never moved it
im sure its to do with the fomat of the files, i recall having a similar issue with the camera not working on cm7. i fixed this by moving the files from dcim to a new folder and it worked straight away but i dont want to do this again...

I understand that photos and videos taken by HTC phone are stored on sd card in DCIM folder and 100MEDIA subfolder by suitable name IMAGxxxx.jpg
By the time we have groving content in this folder.
Any idea how to split it into few folders and keep continuous photos numeration?
Once I did managed to make folders 101MEDIA, 102MEDIA etc and newly taken photos were kept in last folder but with right continuous numeration. After ICS upgrade it is not working.
Any idea how to make it work?

I looked around and cannot find the answer to this. I gave my Vibrant to a friend who takes a lot of pictures with it. He has downloaded a few different photo apps and some of them ended up filling the main system storage of the phone with photos. When I looked into it, some of the apps had placed the storage folder under the root directory and not in the Internal Storage or the External SD card. I looked in the apps and they do not have an option to move where the images are stored. The phone is running bionix-v-1.3.1 (just found it to be the most stable for my friend). One of the main apps that is doing this is FxCamera as the storage folder is at: /FxCamera.
So my question is, can I move this folder using symbolic links or another way? I attempted to make a symbolic link but it said I could not create it. I have a feeling I am not mounting correctly or have the wrong symbolic link. (or this just cannot be done). Maybe I should do it via a terminal window but not sure of the commands here as my Linux experience is somewhat limited.
One last note, what I would really like is to get all these photos moved into the DCIM folder on the SD so his Dropbox Upload will automatically upload them.

when i wanted to send some of them on whatsapp i notices that i have files with "x" on them in the whatsapp add file option.
then, it's dissappear and i couldn't find the pictures at all.
it's just from specific time and the pictures before are fine.
I was looking for them at the gallary via quick pic and also via file explorer but nothig.
I tried some recover pc programs including sandisk RescuePRO Deluxe and no pictures or files at all.
I changed the option to save the pics on the internal memory and i'm scared to change it back.
I have original G5 stock rom and no root + 64gb sd card sandisk original.
Anyone knows if i can find the lost pics? it's very important to me.

root it and try disk digger but what ever you do dont do a lot on the device as downloads and such can overwrite the file locations where the pictures where.
it's in the DCIM folder.
and i prefer not to do root cause then the warranty will cancele.
