TWRP on LG Volt LS740 ZV6 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I have LG Volt LS740 running ZV6 firmware. I have rooted with KingRoot. I want to know how to install TWRP on it. I want TWRP to install ROM with AudioFX on it, and get remote for my Zenith television.
So, I have flashed back to ZV3. I have used towelroot and installed SuperSu. I have also installed Viper4Android, and the settings are even more intriguing than AudioFX. The only thing I need is a remote application, because the Quick Remote doesn't have Zenith on it. Can I get an extended remote from ZV3 or do I need a new ROM? If I need newer ROM, preferably Marshmallow and above, how would I go about TWRP?

I just busted a LS740 with a failed phone encryption attempt, recently had a device stolen, and need a stock firmware that will work. Drop a post if you have any suggestions. Thanks. I was running a version of CM13.
UPDATE:
Formatted data from twrp to start over.

[Q] Custom ROMs for the LG Transpyre (VS810PP)

Hi Everyone,
I've seen this question posted randomly in threads for other topics but didn't see a thread for the question itself so thought Id put it out there because
1. I'm curious to the answer myself.
2. Having this thread might back the search for others with the same question slightly less time consuming and a whole lot easier.
That being said, does anyone out there know of any custom roms for, or ones that will work on, the LG VS810PP (Transpyre)?? Also, since (as far as I can tell) the Transpyre and the LG Tribute are essentially the same phone, could one use a custom rom for the Tribute on the Transpyre? Surely, I wont be stuck with staying on stock! I MUST MOD!!! :cyclops: :fingers-crossed:
Any and all help IS GREATLY and WHOLEHEARTEDLY appreciated! Thanks soooo much in advance.
Calling all Modders! Calling all Modders!
I have this device as well and would love to get off the stock Rom an instal CM or other, hate the bloatware an Rom over all seems sluggish. I am sure there is someone with the knowledge out there that has this device an can help!!!!! Calling all Transpyre Modders! Its time to Rom Out!
Root, but no rom
Im a Transpyre user and was able to succesfully root but have yet to find any custom roms. in the meantime i have removed lots of bloatware and things are running a lil better and my battery is lasting a bit longer.
I was able to root, de-bloat and install TWRP. I also made a backup and was able to restore. I know that's not much info but every little bit helps.

A backup of the stock recovery? If so I'd love one of those right now, can't install 5.1.1 OTA without it (and I don't think I can install 5.1.1 with TWRP without someone making a custom flashable ROM?).
Does anyone have a list of the bloatware I can safely disable or uninstall? A short description of it would also be nice if possible to see if it's something I need or not. I am rooted and also have the transpyre. Not a bad phone for the price.
Same here I've been scouring the net looking for a custom Rom for the transpyre but cannot seem to find anything for it, makes me wonder why this phone is not so cared for as If it were a contract phone
I know what you mean, I understand wasn't a very popular phone but I know you and I ain't the only ones that have it. Just have to be patient I guess and wait for someone that has worked on it to help is.

I ended up using the software upgrade assistant to get my transpyre to lollipop at last now I just need a root guide for it
Edit: found a root for it, now all I need is a proper img file for a recovery

What did it take to get root on a transpyre with lollipop 5.1.1 ?

I used the kinguser app to get root on it. I doubted it would work but It did The trick. make sure you update the King user app to prevent most apps from saying you don't have root, also, A strange thing happened though I used the jrummy root checker and now it says my phone is an Lg F60. Not sure if that's a bad thing. Also keep in mind you will lose your custom recovery I've been looking for ways to flash the twrp/cwm recoveries but it seems to be locked to the stock recovery. I've been putting it off but I'm going to test pushing the files through adb and see if that does anything. I'll let you know whether It bricks or not
GRRR transpyre root
Any confirmations on kinguser app root for transpyre?

I used king root to root mine and have had no issue. I used the one for without pc
Sent from my VS810PP using XDA Free mobile app
I unboxed by Transpyre yesterday, it was running 5.1.1
I also used kingroot straight from kingroot.net to root mine, then SuperSU Me Pro to remove the Kingroot Apps. Reliable root now, been debloating today.
Kingroot method works
I also used Kingroot to root my phone then replaced the kingroot app with SuperSU

Do you have a backup of your rom? and could you post a link to it?
I was able to root using Kingroot 4.5 and replace it with SuperSU using the "Super-Sume Pro 9.2.1 apk" All newer versions of the Super-Sume Pro .apk hung up during the first phase of its operation and all of the free versions of Super-Sume I had tried (the most recent) caused my phone to hang at the Verizon screen during reboot.
I found a YouTube video:
"How to Install CyanogenMOD 12 on the LG F60 and LG Tribute"
Which claimed the procedure was the same for the Transpyre (vs810pp) and included links to another video:
"How To Install TWRP Recovery on the LG F60, LG Tribute and LG Transpyre"
As well as a download link for "twrp-2.8.6.0-e2nav.img" which is supposed to be correct for the Transpyre (vs810pp) phone.
However after I installed "twrp-2.8.6.0-e2nav.img" I received an error during reboot: "Secure booting Error! Error Code : 1003" Afterword my phone would not do a factory reset, and only displayed that error message on every attempt..
I had since installed:
csmgdl.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=FW07S65232BYAJX41F92ORK/VS810PU4_08_ARB01.kdz
(The factory 5.1.1 ROM which I found here in another thread) restoring the factory recovery ROM using the guide: "How to flash firmware to LG smart phone with LG Flash Tool 2014" I was able to repair the boot error.
How are you guys getting TWRP to work well? Would one of you be kind enough to point me in the direction of the the TWRP file that is successfully being used?
Would any of you guys currently running TWRP be able to provide your bootloader and dependency files?
If so would you kindly make them available over at :
xda-developers - Android Development and Hacking - Miscellaneous Android Development - [RECOVERY][e2nam] TWRP 2.8.5.0 touch recovery LG MS395
It appears that there may be another, far more advanced enthusiast (I believe the author of the "twrp-2.8.6.0-e2nav.img" I mentioned earlier) posting over there who could potentially be able to put together something useful for those of us running the Lollipop 5.1.1 factory ROM.
does anyone have a stock rom? Im seriously screwed here without one

Stock Andriod Upgrade to Lollipop of Rooted VS985 ..... Confused.

Hi, i am rooted VS985 with king root, installed TWRP and on Stock 4.4.2 and rooted for deleting all pre loaded verizon and amazon apps and did some changes in system folders like hidden menu etc .. all deleted not today when i connected my PC software assistance tool , it says update is available.. see thumbnails
Now, i am confused if i update my rooted device , can i brick my phone?
please someone guide me, should i go for this update or NOT??
If you ran the update through the tool it would fail since you are rooted and don't have stock recovery installed anymore. It's good practice to never update the phone via OTA or tool if you are rooted and/or have a custom recovery installed.
To update to the latest firmware, use twrp to flash the 35B (5.1.1) version of Skydragon, jasminerom, or xdabbeb's in the Verizon G3 android development section. All are stock based ROM's and run great. 5.1.1 has been a godsend for this phone. Much smoother and better battery life.

How to unroot Kyocera Brigadier

I rooted my Kyocera with Kingroot, worked well. Wasn't to keen on some of the files it was adding and found I couldn't unroot with Kingroot built in feature. So I then found I could use SuperSu-Me to rid myself of Kingroot and purchased. It removed Kingroot and I am still unable to uninstall root so that I can upgrade to lollipop. All I get is software update failed. Any suggestions. I even did a factory reset and phone is still rooted. I have not tried any install and custom roms.
Did you ever fix this?
OTA uptate to lolipop bricked my phone... I was able to find a Rooted 5.1 rom to rescue it. But like you, I cannot remove root and all future update attempts keep failing...
Did you try to flash a stock 5.1 rom on your rooted 5.1 rom? That should allow to get back to normal upgrade (back in time, it usually worked, still I am not aware of latest android pains regarding that matter)

I am not sure you need it to be verizon to just be able to leap to "future" android version, unless this version is only available via kies from your PSP/carrier.
flashing any stock rom might work. Alternative would be to find an unrooted kernel for your android version of a rooted but else stock ROM (as some people do as they like TW experience but with the added benefits of root). But they are just guesses, I wish someone with more technical know-how would join, I just talk from past experiences, not from current ones, so it might have changed.

this phone may have been carrier specific to Verizon...
I did find some custom roms for marshmallow and nougat. But that's totally new territory for me to learn how to put those ones on and of course no updates. 5.1 is as far as the Brigadier went officially. This was not a common phone so it's support and information for it is scarce
---------- Post added at 08:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:21 PM ----------
This is the update it keeps asking me to install , and it keeps failing . I suppose if anybody had a fully updated ROM for the Brigadier that would be useful solution...

Do you have xposed installed? Sometimes that can cause problems.
I do not, I am going to attempt to put TWRP on and then flash the Super SU Binary so that I can run FlashFire.
Lots a learning lol
Locked bootloader. You can run TWRP from adb but you cannot permanently flash it to the device.
I rooted with Kingroot and updated my phone. It was on 4.4.2 1.102vz. My phone boots up but screen goes blank after the Kyocera screen. I powers it off one time but it was luck. I can boot it into stock recovery. I would like to flash the 5.1 ROM to it and beagle to use it. I do not know how to flash a ROM to the phone since it does not have fast boot. Can anyone assist me? The phone was new and never used too. Was going to be a great phone for me at work. I have rooted before and took a ota and I only risked loosing root. But that was with Droid phones. That is where I have more experience in.

Android Pay - How to get working?

I'm running 47A from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/vs985-46a-stock-flashable-firmware-t3304365
It's got systemless root, I'm using SuperSU and I have TWRP installed. No xposed.
I really don't want to use xposed/magisk and I'm probably willing to lose root (would be nice if it was temporary vs permanent).
If I uncheck enable superuser in SuperSU and reboot, Android Pay still doesn't work.
So what exactly do I need to do in order to get Android Pay working?

I'm not rooted (anymore), but with bumped TWRP and SuperSU, apparently you can work around this. It appears PokeMon GO is blocking rooted users due to people spoofing their GPS location via Xposed modules, etc. This article explains how to flash something called Magisk that apparently works for both Pokemon GO as well as Android Pay. Again, I'm not rooted so I have no idea if this will work or not, but he lays out the instructions pretty well. I believe that since you are already rooted and bumped with TWRP, and no Xposed, you just need to obtain Magisk and flash from within TWRP.

Hope this helps. I just happen to come across this article in my Feedly feed and remembered reading your post, so hopefully this helps you.

Hi iBolski,
Did you mean to include a link to an article about installing Magisk with an Verizon LG G3?
I've been looking for a way to install a stock unrooted rom for days but have been coming up short. Magisk would be ideal but I can't seem to find any threads that have a stock (unrooted) firmware image or a guide on how to unroot a pre-rooted firmware. I wish a tutorial specifically for a Bumped VS985 existed to set up a stock firmware or other ROM with Magisk because I have been having trouble piecing information together and am nervous about causing problems with my phone!
If anyone else has a Bump'd VS985 Verizon LG G3 with TWRP installed that is either unrooted or have Magisk running successfully with Android Pay or Pokemon GO, please let us know how you did it!
Thanks!!
EDIT: I just noticed that you yourself are running stock unrooted 46A iBolski... do you have TWRP installed or are you fully stock and accepted an OTA? If TWRP, does Android Pay or Pokemon Go work for you? And how'd ya get to where you are?

Thanks for updating with the link. I did see that guide but am unsure about how to handle it with BUMP and what ROMs it works with.

As a follow up to my own post, I was able to pass the SafetyNet check (I used SafetyNet Helper from the Play Store to check) on my CloudyG3 2.5 LG G3 VS985. This was not without it's negatives however (no Xposed or root).
I simply flashed the Xposed Uninstaller and uninstalled the app, then from within the SuperSU app settings selected the option to permanently unroot. I did of course make a nandroid backup before doing this so restoring will not be an issue, but I do now get a green screen / pass to SafetyNet which should mean Android Pay and Pokemon Go will work.

Question on XDABBEB's VS985 ROM
Considering that this phone will probably see no more OTA's, I'm ready to go back to root, but I don't want to break Android Pay. Also, I'm not going to use Kingroot. Don't trust it. So, I'll TOT back to 10B to flash XDABBEB VS985 ROM. But i have some questions regarding it (I haven't ran a custom ROM in almost a year).
Does anyone know if removing SuperSU from XDABBEB VS985 ROM will allow Android Pay to work? Curious if so, otherwise, I'll probably just stick with my stock 48A unrooted phone in order to keep Android Pay.
I also miss TiBu as my backup tool. Yes, LG Backup is nice and all, but TiBu is so much more flexible, including the scheduled backups that I like to do as well as pushing to my Google Drive for backing up the files. Also, TiBu doesn't store it in one giant backup file. I really wish LG Backup would store each app as a separate file, rather than one giant, humongous file. Also, if I do upgrade to a new phone that's not LG, LG Backup won't work for me, so I'll need TiBu (and of course, I have to make sure the new phone is rootable).
Thanks!
While I have not tried this (I plan to try magisk later this week) supposedly Reddit says we can use this bump script after applying magisk in order to make everything will boot. I'm reading mixed comments about if/which certain bootloader is needed to have this work (KitKat vs Lollipop vs Marshmallow) or which ROM to start with as a base (though I saw CM 13 mentioned). If anyone tries this, let me know. I'll post my results in the coming days.

anyone with a functional Nougat Xposed on an LG G5?

LG G5 RS988.21c, running stock ROM w/ Nougat 7.0, unlocked bootloader w/ root by SuperSU
I got the PurifyOS Xposed up and running (https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-android-nougat-sdk-25-arm64-t3639221)... kind of. The installer APK showed itself as installed and active, but none of the modules seemed to function. Has anyone been able to get the (unstable) PurifyOS to work for their LG G5?
Now, in the Xposed Installer it states that topjohnwu's Systemless-via-Magisk Xposed works on LG (https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-systemless-xposed-t3388268). Can someone confirm that to me? The install process isn't what I'm used and specifically the admonition under Magisk's install instructions to "Make sure to remove any other root, best to restore your boot image back to stock" isn't going to work for me as there isn't a stock RS988 21c boot image available.
Now, that said, I think that uninstalling SuperSU via the in-app uninstaller should work to clean up the boot image to stock in order to allow a clean-as-possible Magisk install, but that whole process currently seems daunting and I'm hoping someone is going to fly into this thread and utter the magic phrases that'll get my Xposed up and running without me having to stumble my way through the Magisk/Magisk Manager/Systemless Xposed process.
Help? If you have any experience with a successful and operational Xposed, please let me know, as well as what model LG G5 you're using. Thanks!
