(Help) Windows To Android on Sony Xperia X - Sony Xperia X Questions & Answers

Hi, I heard there was a tool crafted by Microsoft and gifted to Xiaomi for that exact purpose or task ... (Install Windows on this nice phone) Is there an ex Xiaomi employee to confirm this tool existence or maybe help people that understand the process create a new tool for Sony devices this ti me ? It is not as if it would be the first time Search and Development teams of big companies leak tools or software to help people test their devices ... Or who knows a way to do such task I love my Xperia but I'm having issues with a concept ROM Sony Pushed. (I think I am stuck with this rom) or how much is XdaDev willing to pay to leak this "tool" (might sound like a gifted and lost Excalibur sword kinda story here) anyways I love my Xperia X and I would like to explore custom ROMs if there is any ... I haven't messed with this toy yet since I got it. I'm open to every suggestions.

Porting OS on Omnia hd

hi i've got a samsung omnia hd i8910... i think that symbian sucks and i've seen that there are a lot of porting for other mobile phone. so i ask you: can you create a way to install wp7 or android on i8910? the hardware of this phone is not bad and now there is also the overclock made by HyperX (up to 900MHz) .. so, someone can try to find a way to upgrade this phone to a really OS ? sorry for my bad english.
please help us, we are a lot with this problem!
up... please help us!
up please... help
hello everybody!
i am an omnia hd's owner too!
i think this smartphone is superb!the only limit is the symbian 5th O.S. infact i'd like to know why samsung team put this instead of android and didn't released any important update.
if android porting isn't possible, anyway i hope symbian 3^.
thanks for any help in advance!
i've knew that in past the problem was the boot loader. but i've read also that it was unlocked.
so where is the problem now?
the cpu is the OMAP3430 so i think that there is no problem to a android porting because the motorola droid has it too...
or maybe a porting of the maemo os, infact n900 has a OMAP3430.
help us... we want that our phone rise again, because we paid it a lot not so time ago.. and it has a very good hardware...
AFAIK No one else on this forum has one and no one is going to buy one to dev for you unless you donate.
i will donate if you could find codec dark edition room for me
I have this now. Great phone. I still use it mostly for the speakers.
I would love to see Symbian 3 Belle on. It's near impossible I guess. I wish Samsung had not ditched dual speakers.
Samsung really bombed this phone. A little more wide spread release and support with update to later versions of Symbian and it would have been soooo much better.

Buyin a Sony Xperia S

Hello peeps!
I seriously considering to buy a Xperia S.
It's just the way it looks, so nice .
I already own a HTC Desire and an Acer A500 tablet. Love both devices
I am not a developer, but i like messing with my devices, testing different ROMS, Kernels etc etc. LOL sometimes I mess up my phone by testing and experimenting stuff and then i come back @ XDA and start crying and begging for help LOL
Now because of my mess up your device hobby I would really like to do the same things on a Xperia S (if buying).
What do you expect of the Devs? How were the previous Sony Devices?
Is it easy to root/install CMW? Or is it like ti Motorola all locked up and too bad they don't have brains and think!!!!
Will we have (for example) Cyanogenmod roms on this device?
Please share the info you got on research with me, convince me to buy it and not the Galaxy Nexus !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (btw, i know all the stuff I like for my hobby will be or even is already available on this Samsung device just hate the cheap Samsung quality) .
Tnx XDA
Bootloader is unlockable, and we're waiting for kernel sources to start development.
Is it so hard to look in the Development section to see the work being done now?

Bluetooth on Windows Phone

Well!
I am a newbie to this forum, or in the language of this website, a noob! The same holds for my experience when it comes to buying a new cell phone. I am pretty much enticed by th Windows Phone7 and now windows phone8 . But I also came to know that certain regular features such as Bluetooth in particular, are missing. Should I still buy it or shift to some other option. Though I just gave away my heart to its appealing look. Experienced members, please suggest me a solution
Thanks

if u need functionality at the cost of security(not at all times), go for android..if u want a good user experience and supertight security at any cost, go for windows phone..if u have simply incredibly large pocket go for iphone..and keep in mind that u ll have to unlock ur windows phone if want to have the best experience..if u decide to go for a windows phone, u better get a nokia lumia 710 or any htc..also know that u cant install apps off the marketplace if u have a wp7..android is best for those who dont give a sh** about security..but still android offers some good security apps..
keep in mind that all great apps and games that are available for android and iOS aren't available in wp7 devices..so ur friends might mock at u
if u dont care too much about security, just go for a nexus 4(its a great phone, and it has the best customisability) or an iphone 4s(not 5) which costs less still giving an awesome user experience with all the iTunes apps being compatible with it..and if its jailbroken, its another BOMB..a fantastic device i say..i was previously not an apple fanboy(neither am i now, coz i hate iphone 5, and all iPads)..a jailbroken iphone 4s can do anything for u..while android too can, it has laggy interface(whatever be the specs, it still lags) as the whole android runs on java runtime engine and apps dont have direct access to device drivers..
why i told u a nokia lumia 710 is because its the easiest device to unlock its potential completely among all nokias..forget 820s, 920s..the 900s and 800s themselves cant be unlocked, and as far now among windows phone 7 devices, samsung(all), nokias(ones with qualcomm bootloaders and not nokia DLOAD bootloaders), HTC(all) can be unlocked but samsung 2nd gen devices cant have bluetooth file transfer as it has not been possible to install custom ROMs on them..
If i were u, i would have gone for an iphone 4s, if not possible, an android mostly a nexus 4..hope this helps..

If I may ask sir about unlock 900
I have a lumia 900 nokia. At&t . called customer support and filled out an device unlock request form. Explained that it was a gift and I never had acct with them. In 30 hours they emailed me the code and instructions. Hmm?
I have screen shot of it running T-Mobile.

Interview with Ivan - the developer of the leaked AOSP ROM

Ivan, or more popularly known as 秋叶随风, is a super fan / guru that has help beloved MIUI fans around the world by developing customised ROMs.
When the MIUI news team first broke news about the upcoming interview
with Ivan, our ever enthusiastic fans responded with over 100+ burning
questions for dear Ivan in our fan poll!
Despite churning out amazing works that are used by MIUI fans all around
the globe, Ivan keeps a surprisingly low profile, and trying to befriend him
on QQ is no easy feat; His one and only friend request question requires
you to know his boss’s phone number before you can gain acceptance as his
friend!
Of course, the MIUI news team spares no efforts in reaching out to Ivan
for the ever curious MIUI fans, and here’s the much-awaited interview with
some of the interesting fan questions, complete with a real snapshot of
what Ivan looks like!
Question 1 : Tell us 4 interesting facts about
yourself!
I’m actually a staff of Xiaomi and a big loyal fan of MIUI!
Nobody calls me by my real name at work - Instead, everyone prefers to
call me by my nickname, “秋大”
I used to be a developer for iOS and webkit, the open source web browser
engine that's used by Safari, Dashboard, Mail, and many other OS X
applications
I’m a novice in swimming, having just picked up the skill last year; To be
honest, my swimming can’t even rival that of the kids that I see in the pool!
Question 2: What do you actually do in Xiaomi and
how long have you been working there?
I started working for Xiaomi last year and is currently involved in Linux
server and configuration management and technical support. My main duty
is to ensure that my fellow colleagues can work or laze happily! Occasionally,
I dabble in MIUI system upgrades, memory optimization, stable ROMs
upgrades as well as updating the Android version to allow my colleagues to
test out Google’s latest features.
Question 3: How did you learn to customise ROMs
and can you teach other aspiring fans how to go about
doing it too and what is required to get started?
When I first came into contact with Android phones, the phone
manufacturers integrated the phones with too much bloatware that made the
user experience abysmal. Hence i decided to try my hand at customising the
ROM by myself, purely out of interest! I am actually self-taught, and
personally i think this is one area that is very difficult to teach.
For aspiring fans that would like to go down this path to customise their own
ROM, my advice would be to first familiarise yourself with Java, C, C++
and Linux, as well as shell kernel script writing. A good way to get started is
to follow what others have done in customising the ROM, by basing it on
their git log to understand the logic behind the tweaking. Of course, the
prerequisites are that you have plenty of time, and a relatively good
computer with fast internet speed.
Question 4: What features are you planning to add
to your latest customised ROM?
It may surprise you, but i do not like adding new functionalities. If you want
to, you don’t have to do it yourself, but use the ready solutions out there
like CyanogenMod, Paranoid Android, AOKP, etc.
Question 5: What device are you using now and why?
I am currently using two phones; an iPhone 5, and Mi2. I love my Mi2
primarily because i find the size perfect, and the hardware is not outdated,
and best of all, i can customise it everyday!
Question 6: How long does it take for you to work
on each ROM?
From conceptualisation till its actual run takes around 1 week, but it could
take 1 to 2 months to correct for all the bugs and stabilise the system. If i
am lucky, I could update and release a more stable version in 1 - 2 weeks.
Question 7: Do you actually earn anything from
doing this?
I pursue and customise ROMs out of my pure personal interest and passion
to share what I love with fellow MIUI fans, and I do not earn a single cent
out of this. Of course, more money is always good, but personally my
opinion is that if one were to pursue this out of monetary interest, it would
defeat the purpose of doing this in the first place.
Question 8: What was the first ROM you made and
what was the motivation behind it?
I first customised the ROM for my Huawei C8500/U8150. Back then,
the phones is packed with more customised softwares. I had the idea of
customising it for my phone for a very simple reason; the touch points for
the phone weren’t many at the point in time, and i decided to tweak the
kernel source to add two more touch points and that’s how I got started!
After that, I got hooked on customising and the rest is history.
***** TOP FAN. QUESTION *****
(from @ej8989 -> We see you have great potential as paparazzi! Care to join the
MIUI News Team? )))
Question 9: Are you dating someone within the
MIUI community?
My interactions with fellow colleagues hardly extend beyond our professional
working relationship, and the majority of the fans are guys! No girl would
want to date a code geek anyway, so… to put it simply, no.

New Pixel hack shedding any light for us?

Just wondering if the new hack for forcing the bootloader to be unlocked and then the other hack that allows full root disabling dm-verity but leaving the kernel untouched is going to break any ground for us losers with no ability to unlock our bootloader or keep root?:fingers-crossed:
Would be AWESOME if we could force enable bootloader unlocking, tbh I'm quite surprised there hasn't been more interest on this I mean we all know Sony do make some of the best handsets going and they're literally 10 times better once you've got a beasty kernel and some nice tweaks on modified stock ROM :victory:
too soon to say! different processors have different kernel pattern!
for example! even on Android 6.01, Xperia C4 ( MT processor) FotaKernel + Boot is totally different than Xperia Z series (running on Snapdragon)
my fear is that SONY is moving toward more and more to corner ( for Developers ), the new X series. where DRM keys can never be xtracted and in some cases bootunlock affect finger sensor and android pay since FidoKeys are Lost.
the more i read and observe about Xperias in 2016, i am having bad feeling for Xperia in upcoming years! Company has already reduced their mobile launching pattern when in 2012 / 2013/ 2015 we had AcroS/ION/GO and devices under Z series, E series, M series, C series.... where in 2016 only one X series (and its variants). To the major part SONY Must let users to have control of its devices and offer MORE (storage/ram) in order to survive new competitions like huawei, OnePlus, Xiami, Lenovo etc who are offering so much on comparative prices
Thanks for your constructive input makes sense... But this is still android and I'm sure there IS a way to hack it and get our bootloaders unlocked or maybe even just get permanent root

did you ever hear about Blackberry Prive development projects?
its a topnotch android phone
but you will never hear because they Ripped development options from that phone for security reasons!
and my point is, between the fine line of development and security, sony has slowly but surely moving more towards security; not by introducing new features in software; but by disabling/ restricting many of the AOSP features.
A dream come true moment will be when i will see ALLOW ROOT ACCESS under development options in next Xperia Flagship devices like XIAOMI / ONEPLUS, and i will restart xperia having Root Access ( like they have given in CYNOGENMOD, Conditional root access to apps (as you will specify)
