Thank you! I just sent that to a friend whose LG G4 battery is bad. He's considering the V30, but also mentioned the Note 8 and even iPhone 8 (which I don't understand).

The V30 battery is okay. It's not the best I've seen in a device but it charges so fast, that's hardly an issue for me.
IPhones do generally get good battery life, I've got a 7 Plus as well as my V30. However, it takes forever to charge it. Even using the iPad charger.

I went through three SE models with logic board issues, 6s with battery recall, 6 that got bent in my purse, 5s that had dead pixels like crazy out of the box. It all got topped off by my 7 Plus having the Intel modem and I got practically no signal... Anywhere!

Sorry for your kinda bad experience with v30, but judging from the videos and articles people share, v30 has the best battery life among the phones that came out this year. Maybe you need to disable or uninstall some battery draining apps

I just found this review today, the first one I saw saying the battery life is a cons
https://www.pcmag.com/review/355846/lg-v30
The 3,300mAh battery is disappointing. We only got 4 hours, 46 minutes of LTE streaming (full-screen video at maximum brightness) on one battery charge, much shorter than with competing phones. The Galaxy S8, for instance, lasts 5 hours and 45 minutes, and we consider that to be merely average. Most new phones will get you around 7 or 8 hours.

Different tests give different results and it could be a device with a bad battery... idk

Hmm [emoji848] that's very surprising. Majority of reviews actually mention how great the battery life is, most say it's way better than note 8 for example. Yet again like you said, different test might have different results. But for me actual mobile phone websites and reviewers are more trustworthy

I'm trying. It's been a while since I've run Android as my daily driver. Each time I come across a suggestion to save battery, I'm changing it. I always got good battery on my Note 3 but it was never stock. For some reason I can't get Facebook to stop pushing notifications, I've got them blocked in the app settings and on the phone. So I was planning on buying the s3 but I can't seem to make my mind up on it. There are a lot of reasons why I can't decide. It's not in my budget but adding $100 dollars will do the trick. Anyway, is it worth the price? is it future-proof?(I've read that manufacturers are developing full-hd res screens but who needs it?) How long will it last til dev support abandons it?
I'm the kind of user who's really in to multimedia and tweaking and I want this phone to last two years until I buy a new one. So can anyone recommend me this phone or recommend something else? What do you think?
P.S. I own an O2x right now and I love it but devs aren't supporting it much right now and I just bought this phone last november(which is a really bad step for me considering the fact that it's a year old in the market and i think the processor won't last). Thanks for your help in advance!
Wait till the new nexus comes out, and then see how the comparisons stack up.....but the bottom line is today's technology is always yesterday within 6-12 months.....I thought long and hard but then I happened to go on eBay and got my S3 for £390 brand new, 500 in the shops, so I'm happy

It's the best phone you can buy right now. Dev support is strong as the phone is extremely popular. The galaxy s 2 was and still is today a huge seller with great dev support and this phone is no different.
Future proof? It will still be a good phone in two years. Sure other phones would have come along with better spec but it will still hold its own.
I for one have a compulsion when it comes to phones, I've replaced many over a short period due to shortcomings in one area or another. This is the first phone I'm really happy with and might actually keep for at least a year.
Not much in the horizon anyway in terms of android phones. The only competition to this beast is the one x and that thing is good but no removable battery or expandable storage and battery life also sucks compared to this.

how does your s3 feel in processing power? I read that theyre laggy at times but not most. I want to know what I can get for the money before i invest on this phone
Low bench mark scores , app monitor missing, no social hub alot of stock apps not there. Google wallet not supported yet. It eats up memory ram pretty good but over all it's pretty good solid phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784513 skyrocket 4 fs/ft
For me it`s not laggy at all, i rooted the phone and flashed Siyah 1.3.8a and undervolted 50 Mv. It`s running stable, fast and has good battery life. But out of the box the phone is also good. It also depends on how many apps and widgets you have installed and are running in the background.

Running slim here as I don't care for Samsung gimmick apps and it rocks, super fast, stable, just had 7+ hrs screen on....totally happy coming from S1, as usual Samsung software causes all the problems...No lag, no fc, no moans....just joy, joy, joy

Developer support for the galaxy s1 is still as good as the s3's so it's safe to say that the s3 will continue to be supported for several years.
There will be no next-gen phone until next year. Any phone released this year could only hope to be better in terms of ram. Nothing else.
The s3 will last until at least 2015.

First uninstall your task killer, it`s not a solution but a problem. It messes up android task management and causes lags!
Second it off course depends ho many apps/widgets you have running in the background.
Third don`t say stuff to and about users that you are not sure about or do not know.

Hey
Worth buying the device?
Currently I am using iPhone 4S and is a bit outdated to me,
I really like the deviceׁׁ(ONE) in terms of appearance and data and I want to buy the HTC ONE 64GB version from United States ..
Now I question if it's worth to buy this device?
I realized that I had battery problems, is it true? Knock up a battery is ending so quickly? It is also rechargeable're so slow?
What do you say?
ONE knock up a battery of using iPhone 4S better than mine?
my iPhone 4S is loaded faster for me ..
which is better htc one or galaxy s4 ?
i'm glad for true answer ..
I'm really not sure what you're trying to say, if you're asking if the One is worth it then yes it is

It's a great device the front speakers are awesome and are where speakers should be. The battery is fine. I get better battery life than on my nexus 4. It's def worth the upgrade. Especially since we have s_off on this device.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
The phone is definitely worth it and battery for me is awesome, better than my friends iPhone 5, we did the same things on it for one whole day and I got about 2 hours more if that's really a difference. lol
There can only be one, the chosen ONE.
...
How long it takes to charge from 20% to 90%, roughly?
I can fully charge is about 4 hours so maybe 20%-90% about 2and 1/2 to 3.
There can only be one, the chosen ONE.
...
This is such an annoying and stupid to do such a battery is loaded slowly and end faily quickly...
I would like to add on to this question if I may, so as not to start a new thread. Does anyone know what versions of firmware and hboot are shipping right now with the at&t version?
My perfect Nexus 4 just to a jump off my car and shattered (sad). I have five weeks to wait for my upgrade and am considering the one, but after having an unlocked device, I couldn't tolerate anything else. I want to make sure its fully unlockable before I buy.
Thanks all.

Like you, I came over to Android and the HTC One from the 4S. IMO, the device is amazing in comparison to the 4S. I haven't noticed any battery issues but the charging time can depend on several factors such as using the OEM HTC Charger and closing out your apps. I would definitely recommend you give this phone a try.

I got a G2 recently and am 93% happy with it.
I was coming form a Nexus 4 and was certain I would get a Nexus 5. At the last minute while looking at the displays in the store and testing how they felt in my hand, I decided to go for the G2.
The missing 7% is the plastic back and the lack of wireless charging. These are both things that are superior on the Nexus 5 that I wish I could have on the G2. Especially wireless charging, the Nexus 4 spoiled me in that regard. It's just so much better for wear and tear on the phone's USB port which had been a problem area for me on my Galaxy S2, plus the tilted charging orb of the Nexus made a handy pseudo-dock. I am still glad I went with the G2 because the screen, battery life, and camera are all better but I do miss the wireless charging and rubberized back of the Nexus 5.

Coming from the Atrix HD I like my G2: big screen, no lag, nice interface. I miss the ability of the Atrix HD file manager to access my PC as remote storage. I know I can do the opposite with wireless storage but when working on the phone it means having to go back and forth to the PC.
to me:
battery - very good
speed - can lag through menus, but ok
camera - i'd say between ok and poor compared with a Note 2 that I owned. photos seems to be fuzzier. + as usual LG photos take too much space (for less better). OIS... this shouldnt be a strength. macro shots are good
memory - if you take many long videos and photos, stock many music and movies in it, this phones not for you. an additional usb storage to move or stock data is required
LG UI... - good, I don't find it too much like some tests say. too bad settings background is white, i would have preferred black. I don't use Slide Aside but it's interesting, sometimes Q-slide and QuickMemo.
Image edition = very poor
Video Editor is really good, too bad you can't use imported photos and videos (some videos may work).
weather app - not really accurate
voice mate - don't use it. just did a few times just for fun
keyboard - don't like. can't have suggestion when clicking on a word that was mispelled (like Samsung keyboard). the second line of letters doesnt fill the entire space. several keyboard themes is interesting though
microphone - good quality
KnockOn is a ++. I find myself dumb when double tapping on other phones to unlock the screen
all of this coming from stock rom with no "make the phone better" apps.

I just bought a QI tag that fits between the phone and the cover (invisibly) and plugs in to the mini USB. Works like a charm for about £10 :good:
Great phone. For the 3+ months I have had it I haven't had an issue.
-Beautiful screen with minimal bezel
-Great battery 24+hours/5+ hours screen time
-Plenty of dev support
-Big fan of the rear keys + knock on/off
-Fast. Haven't experienced any lag (using Nova Launcher)
Only negative is the slow updates from LG. With a custom skin I don't think updating is as crucial but I want 4.4 so I can use google wallet again

No so. I have a Verizon LG G2 with wireless charging built in and non removable battery. LG's done this before. Best phone I ever had.

Exactly the G2 had non removable battery, best phone i ever had i regret selling it
Yes. G2 actually is/was one of the best phone I had. And it still has many support here in xda.
I recently bought lg V20 and I feel there is no much difference between g6 and v20. Unless someone can show me otherwise. I think I'll probably wait for v30 or g7.
The new SD 385 really seems tempting, and those battery and performance improvements would really help a lot as I am a power user.

I stand corrected. However, batteries have gotten way more volatile in the last couple years. I don't think it's gonna be an issue with that heat pipe tho. Still, root is needed for sure.

LG phones never had problems with root and similar stuff hope the G6 wont be an exception
I will not buy one for the same reason I did not buy G5 - they removed everything that made G4 stand out:
-curved screen
-volume buttons on the back (seriously, this alone is enough for me not to buy the phone)
-app drawer (please don't say that there are launchers - launchers suck bad and slow down the phone)
-bigger screen (G5 had smaller display, while the size of the phone was pretty much the same as G4)
-I can now add - removable battery
It was always amazing to me how big companies like LG remove features from their devices, then wonder why people do not buy the new version. My G4 works flawlessly and I do not think that the bump in cpu power has any real use for me. So no, thank you. G6 will be a flop.
So when the big launch date? March 10th???
Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
why lg used imx258? 1.12 micron pixel size 1/3.06" sensor is not flagship class.

That's the big question! FCC has had a look, I think:
https://www.androidheadlines.com/2017/03/possible-verizon-variant-lg-g6-passes-fcc.html
So maybe sometime soon we'll get an announcement.
Thinking of switching from my Pixel 5inch to the G6.
Actually I could do a straight trade.
If you have done it, is it worth it?
What is better or worse?
I am interested in battery life and performance? Is it as smooth as the Pixel?
For G6, SoT around 6hrs or little more depending on settings, UI very smooth imho. Design of the G6 is lovely, I don't like the massive bezels on Pixel but that's a personal thing.

The bezel for sure is my least favorite thing. Thing is I went through 4 Pixels with RMA, I am little tired of it.
G6 is my first LG and its brilliant, I'm very chuffed thus far, been 2 months.

I had pixel xl and i sold it and bought g6 . everything is better on g6 but the camera i feel like it was better on pixel xl . but the battery is much better on g6
The G6 is not even nearly as smooth as a Pixel regardless of what some people say.
I have and love both. But honestly the Pixel can't be beat. That phone is unbelievable. I switched because I have weirder than normal needs. My phones are paid for and used for work.. So I have to have a REAL e-mail, contacts, Calendar client for office 365(or whatever it's called). None of the apps work like the skinned phones clients do. I also love Quick memo and have years of notes saved to it.
But if i didn't need my phone for work I would be back to the pixel in a second flat. But since i need a skinned phone i love the G6.
Bit the bullet and Got G6. I can agree that UI fluidity is not even close to the Pixel. However it's still likely better then S8.
Hopefully LG can do something about it.

I've had an S8+ and it actually has much smoother scrolling than the G6 which surprised me a fair bit. However the S8 feels slower overall and more laggy, except the camera that can lag a lot on the G6. But scrolling performance was indeed a lot better on the Sammy.

I was mostly going by this article. My S8 usage is pretty limited.

Yeah it had performance drops in framerates specially when going back to the homescreen and it would stutter randomly, still scrolling performance beats the G6 by a fair bit. I found the G6 to stutter too much for my taste I'm going to sell mine.

Have you tried a factory reset and all that? KDZ load?
I'm going to use this at least until Pixel 2. I had my pixel replaced 3 times, it has its own issues even if lag is not one of them.
For some reason I don't really want the S8.
Thought about the OP5 but I don't want to downgrade in some ways like then screen or camera.

I returned both my S8+ phones because of Amoled issues. I can never ever get a good Amoled screen. It was the same with the S7 Egde. 4 of them and not one single good enough screen always some visual defect. Crappy Samsung Amoled I start to hate them really. Going with my iPhone from now on instead it never gives me headaches.
Yes, I did factory reset.

I guess LG needs to update from Android 7.0 to 7.1.1 as 7.1.1 might solve scrolling or stuttering problems like the frame rate goes down ocassionaly. The Pixel might be very smooth because it's got 7.1.2 (I'm not sure the latest Android version solved some problems) Imagine the upcoming LG V30! It'll run on SD 835 on top of LG's UX 6.0 running Android 7.1.2 that might make the LG V30 a favorite beast for years to come. That also makes the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 boring.

OPs have some of the best image Quality as they are very 'hands off' in terms of their processing engine, I had the OP2 and its camera was the best I'd seen in Android at the time. I see the OP3 camera was also stellar so am sure the OP5 will continue in that vain
