Fingerprint and camera issue - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

I just ordered le max 2 on 28 September and got after 5 days because of ****y eui I flashed AEX, Linage and RR.
In RR I faced fingerprint issue also flashed modems and clear cache and divick cache but nothing help me
then i flashed 15s and test fingerprint again but failed after flashed 19s again failed but whats wrong with the camera !!
the camera taking pictures automatically and continuously until I closed camera app.
If anyone has solution regarding this please share with me...

EUI is the best firmware. You just made your life ****ty by root and flashing. Every single problem in leMax2 xda forum come from flashing.

EUI itself is the main problem.

EUI is heavily skinned and literally cuts the performance in half (tested using geekbench) and I personally don't like how it looks. This is why there are custom ROMs.

I had the same problem but after updating modem firmware to s21 or s23 that problem didn't exist anymore.
I,am running lineage os 14.1 on the le max 2 x820.
Also, pay attention before updating if your devices is a x820 or x828 there is a difference. and then update the driver to related version numbers.

Seriously

You see this? You see this crap? This is a lie. Rooting and flashing don't mess up anything if you know what you're doing. Flashing roms improves your experience. If you don't know how to flash a rom or fix the problems that may arise, it's your fault and shouldn't do it in the first place. If you know what you're doing then go on or do it, otherwise shut up

We shouldn't be bothered but we should point out the stupid stuff. If a guy that doesn't know many things about this comes here and sees that, he would be put down and scared to root or flash or do anything. People are easily scared and influenced

Aptly said. :good:

Both of you are but out of track.
EUI is almost buggles or even completely buggles BUT its skin is really power consuming and some people don't like it so they want to switch to pure Android or near pure Android. The reason why these ROMs have bugs is that your default rom (from LeEco) is made from a whole team which job is to do the software (the rom). Custom ROMs are made by one person (sometimes more) who has to make there source code of a rom (lineage os, rr ect.) using a device tree (specs of the device) to build it. Some stuff aren't included in the device trees (The camera codes for some legal reasons and other things). Because of that people have to find a way to get the camera and other components to work. Btw people who make custom ROMs dont always receive money (but you can donate them if you want).
This is why custom ROMs are sometimes buggy.
Root and flashing are most of the time not dangerous. Some companies are making built-in root protection to prevent root and if they detect root it will bootloop (LeEco doesn't do that so our phones are fine). Flashing can also brick your phone IF you're not careful. If you don't know how to recover just Google it. There are a lot of ways to unbrick a phone or get your default rom back. Still don't be scared of it. Make sure that the rom, kernel, firmware and recovery is for your phone and only for your phone (every rom and recovery is comparable with x820, x821 and x829). If you see x800, x900 or something that doesn't match WILL NOT work.
I hope this helps somehow.

Because the fingerprint sensor is somehow "stuck" and I think that the option to take pictures with the fingerprint is selected in the camera app, then you'll have photos taken as soon as you'll start the app. Go to the settings of the camera and unselect this feature.
Also try flashing different modems, especially from 23s or 26s. I remember somebody said the fp came back to life after that.
Don't lose your patience. This is a forum, ask and you will get the answer. The phone cannot be bricked easily, so don't worry about that.

I don't know who is that supposed to help as I'm a dev and I've been in this game for 6 years. I never said anything about eui being bad or something. There was a guy that said that rooting and flashing creates all the problems we face which is not true. The reason custom roms for our device has bugs is because we don't have so proprietary hals and blobs and the ones we have are stuck on marshmallow. If someone doesn't know how to properly flash a rom and recover if something happens, they shouldn't do it

Heyyo, hmm which ones have you flashed? Can you provide links please?
What I'd recommend is trying a fastboot flash of an EUI based ROM that will hopefully redo the firmware and hopefully fix the camera and fingerprint issue.
Please download the fastboot version Cuoco92's EUI ROM and flash it via fastboot
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/development/rom-leeco-le2x820max5-9-023s-cuoco92-t3608187
If that resolves it? Then you should be able to reflash TWRP and custom ROMs if you'd like

I think the OP abandoned the thread. Firstly would be nice to change the modem, then flash another EUI as per the suggestions.
PS: Guys, also stop the fight with EUI good/bad etc... Android is a system of choice, XDA is here to help, we are here to help/ get help.

its most likely the update process itself. Don't worry. Apps (without root) aren't supposed to cause to cause random reboots.
Sometimes old settings files and stuff from the ROM before the update can conflict with the updated ROM and cause bootloops and yeah the only way to remove those files is a factory wipe.
Its not your fault. Don't worry.
In 8.2.18 china stable rom this bug fixed.
Okay, so about week ago my phone got replaced(volume buttons broken). New one i have is 8.1.15 global. All was fine until today. Issue got back. I will update to 8.2.5 and see if it gets any better but im a bit concerned about what i heard about 8.2.5 global(battery charging issue for example). Anyone can confrim this?
No charging issues here on 8.2.5. No battery drain. I recommend update to 8.2.5
thanks for the reply, as soon as i insta
Thx for the reply. As soon as i install this update i will infor if it helpes or not.
Update didn't fixed this but factory reset after update did(at least for now). I wonder what is causes this? Some bug hidden in settings on 8.1.15 that makes conflict with incoming/outgoing calls? Anybody have any ideas?
Issue got back, this is very f**king annoying. I regret buying this phone... Anyone can help? I am on 8.2.5

Backup your data, use Mi flash to reflash firmware , that will leave it like in factory state, it repartition and reformat phone in the way. Many are recommending the MM beta 8.2.7.0.
I'm currently on 8.2.2.0 very good, highly recommended but do your homework and do a lot of research before downgrading or flashing in general. I think YouTube might be your friend in this case.

Issue is getting back over and over again, tried everything(even complete flash to latest available official rom with repartition)
All methods work for a while then issue is getting back after approx 2 weeks, i dont know what causes this, i am afraid that warranty won't cover this cause this is clearly software problem built deep into ROM, and first thing they do after they got in on desk in service is factory reset - this solves the problem for a while, and so on, till the end of the time... Maybe i should try some other ROM than that piece of sh** MIUi? All i want is good performance and stability - what rom will suit my needs best? My device is redmi note 4 snapdragon 3gb/32gb

Slow FP sensor on PureNexus (7.1.2.20170519)? (Le Max 2 x829)

I'm really sorry to ask this, but I just wanted to check and make sure this isn't going to wreck anything.
Anyhow, I'm fairly certain I have the Chinese modem firmware flashed on this, but I'll admit that I have no idea which version it is.... I just have a file on my desktop labelled:
MODEM_419D_V.00050
This may potentially be the US version I downloaded as a restore option if needbe..
Anyhow, my question is what is the best option for trying to fix the FP sensor? It does work, but it's very slow and fairly temperamental. Or is that just par for the course on this phone still?
Please advise which modem firmware or changes to make that should fix this, if possible. Thank you very much.
If you have the time and patience, you may want check my latest thread, where I posted my latest discoveries about the fp sensor issues we're having, and a potential fix. It was done on EUI based ROM's, but it might also apply to other systems.

The best fingerprint success that I have had ( besides complete stock ) has been Pure Nexus + 23s. It never worked well with that dev firmware.
Any other ROM/firmware combos has been hit and miss.

Yes, modem firmware. Fingerprint stuff is included.
Try it, but the jury is still discussing , faulty hardware, software, heat issues..... A few fingerprint threads around here have some ideas.
For whatever reason ( I'm not a dev in the slightest ) pure nexus has been really smooth and the FP sensor works every time with 23s. I tried all the available firmware. When I'm using RR-N the DEV firmware seams to work the best, but only 80% .

Sorry to bother you, but one more question.
I currently am trying to load the July 3rd build of PureNexus and the 23s modem.... however, every time I go to do the fingerprint scanner during the setup process, it force closes the moment the sensor triggers. What build were you running?

6/14 build. I slightly remember a bug on the fingerprint set up screen. Don't touch the FP sensor before you press "next" or "start" ( can't remember what it says), then touch the FP.
Either way , can you skip through that screen and do the FP setup and complete the FP through settings?

Same issue, but I think it has something to do with that "don't touch before next".
I did it just now, and it crashes, but if I click offer feedback and back out, it brings me to the actual tapping menu for getting your FP read, and at that point commits. Strange.

Yeah, I never had that bug. I'm using new build of RR now to test.
The maintainer over in that thread is really responsive, if you think it's a bug, or more people report it, let him know.
So did 23s work any better for you? You can dirty flash through all those modem files to see which works better.

Leave some posts so I know it works OK, I'm new to this
It would be good if someone could post if this rom was ok, as have a T825 rom built with the same method that I cannot test, due to having a T820 myself. So speak up please
Thank you for this. Now I have to ask a couple of newbie questions. I've been exclusively in the Sony Xperia and Nexus worlds before, this being my first Samsung. In trying to figure out if the processes I've become familiar with are applicable to this device, using your ROM.
For instance, my Sony's were pretty easy after the initial root. Kind souls in the community took new releases and created a pre-rooted firmware with TWRP and SuperSU built-in. I could then just dirty flash the ROM from TWRP, sometimes wiping cache/dalvic, and like magic my device is upgraded with no loss of data.
Is this how it works with this AQF5 ROM? I'm starting with a rooted (@ashyx method) T820 with AQBB. Do I just download the rooted ROM to SD card, boot to TWRP, dirty flash and go?
Thanks again!
Hi,
Dirty flash should work, sometimes I try that first and if I get any strange behaviour, do a wipe and re flash then load the rest back with titanium backup. Make sure you have all your backups organised first before starting.
Let me know how it works out. The risk with the first option is something residual being left that may result in force closes or just defeating the purpose.
Just beware if for some reason it doesn't root DM verity will occur and you will be forced to format internal data so back that up to your external card too, before, just in case, shouldn't happen though. I have no idea how many others have used this yet as there have been no replies to say all ok

Not sure I can use this ROM in Germany, what kind of modifications are made? Would love to see some development
As long as you have the same model T-820 you can, some local variants have a local customisation but it's likely to be minor with this model. From memory when I set it up on mine all common languages were available, if that's your concern, make sure you have a twrp backup and you can always roll back
The only mods were as listed above, seems slightly quicker, perhaps the zip aligning, but it will allow more mods as they come along

I have always wondered about that. Flashing a base from another country. Like I live in the US so I always have flashed USA versions. You are

For the record, I don't live in the us but bought mine from best buys whilst there, it was rooted within a couple of hours from memory,..... can't help myself ?.
I Flashed a firmware from another country after that,, just because it was a later series, can't remember which.
I use the Tweaked one as my daily driver, people seem to be finding that good. I have found the latest firmware now seems to carry out a full wipe, and I haven't managed to flash a rom over it yet, so reverted back to the Tweaked version I have.
It may require an update to TWRP
If you have any problems restore your backup, if you want to persist flash the firmware that its based on first,AQF5, then flash the ROM over it, with our without wipe.

Thanks,
This rom is not being developed any more, but the tweaked version in this forum, is based off the stock firmware which came after this,it runs stable, has a few enhancements and being a later base it's got a number of Samsung security updates too.
Would this thread be applicable to a Wi-Fi only S3 model "SM-T820NZKAXAR" ?

Connectivity issue after flashing

Can someone tell me how to fix the WIFI / Bluetooth issue after flashing. After flashing twrp and Havoc OS i have this issue. I have the stock boot.img from the stock rom, if that helps. any suggestions ? What do i do ?
So, i ended up reflashing the stock rom with miflashtool, and everything was solved. I guess the connectivity gets messed up when you flash the custom recovery, i probably didn't do it properly, i'm not used to the a/b slots...
Not gonna mess with it anytime soon. I didn't like the custom rom anyway... the corners were not smooth, and in apps the display was not always used poperly...
With the stock rom i just flashed magisk for root and a few modules that i have used in every phone...
With Android One and the stock ROM working so well it's frankly not worth it to mess with custom ROMs. As you say, just add magisk and a few modules and you're good to go. Ironically this phone has custom ROMs popping up left and right while other devices with terrible oem skins and bloat ware that could really use custom ROMs get nothing.

I agree about everything you said ! But, you have to agree, myself, like most people here i presume, when we get a new smartphone, you have to mess with it a little bit. Where is the fun in having an iPhone for example, where you can't mess with anything ? (not judging or hating on iphones and their users, many people want that, and i perfectly understand) The most fun experience is when you mess up your phone and than try to fix it
And i have to say, i love this phone. It's amazing. Waiting for the official OTA for Android Q !
btw. when the update comes eventually, will magisk be an issue ? do i have to flash the stock boot.img to upgrade the os ?

Yeah you haven't lived till you at it soft brick your phone [emoji3]
Depending on how you flashed your recovery, you may need to flash boot.img and possibly wipe your data. Hopefully only the first is necessary

Question Possible to make a custom rom?

I'm a amateur but i'm willing to learn and put the time in,
I have put custom roms on all my previous phones and tweaked them to my preferences, but I have no idea where to start from the ground up, as usually more people are creating/playing with the same phone, this one seems to be the ugly duckling, wich noone seems to bother with. I have requested the unlock bootloader with the goal of rooting the phone. But before I start going in this rabbit hole, is it possible, and where can I start.
It's a great phone, just too much bloatware, I even have a weird issue that I can't open my accessibility. It keeps closing settings. and I want the android base, not the ZUI OS.
Same question dude..
The software of legion duel 2 make me doubt purchase or not that phone...
Is the software is too bad ?

It's working, and not that it's bad, but not a fan of zui os, and the bloatware, I guess this site spoiled me, I was expecting a twrp and some custom os. for example , it gets hot very quick, and I assume its the bloat ware running in the background. I think we get a better deal with stock android than the zui os, even if I have to give up the rgb on the back

Yes... I see similar things in the reviews and comparison of this phone...
The smartphone gets hot.. when shouldn't make it...the two fans in combination with the steam chamber and the multiple layers of dissipation should be enough to dispel the high temperature...
And makes me think, that is the bad optimization of the software...
In combination of the bad update supports of the Motorola/Lenovo's phones ...
Makes me doubt purchase this phone...
The salvation of the weakness point of this phone is the community :'c ...
Well said! That's exactly how I feel
If you have unlocked your bootloader, flash a generic system image, or GSI. You can check it out on Google. Not all features works though.

Curious that how can you bruteforce the bootloader unlock
Remember to disable Verity by flashing the vbmeta.img at here under 'install gsi images' https://developer.android.com/topic/generic-system-image

GSIs are system images so you have to flash in fastboot(wipe in twrp first then fastboot flash system xxx.img)
At google's website, you can choose android 11 gsi, and even android 12 gsi. However they may not boot, if that's the case try luck with phh treble or erfangsi

It was OTA but it took a few days I think Lenovo release updates on sales so if you just bought the device it will take a few days to arrive but it will come
Are you in the uk?
