Hello everyone,
I'm considering buying this phone for some time now (Snapdragon).
I really like it overall, I consider it being a great value-for-money device, plus I've noticed great custom ROM support for it (there's even a DirtyUnicorns build which I wanted to try since I've never used it before) which is crucial to me since I don't like MIUI.
Now I wanted to ask hoping for an answer as complete as possible, (especially given the fact that Xiaomis product line and naming is as complicated as it is) what things do I have to consider before buying?
For example, I know that Product Number 2016101 won't support the LTE band I'll be needing in Greece (where I stay) so I should go for the 2016102 one (Global Version).
But other than that,
1) should I prefer the 4GB/64GB model to the 3GB/32GB one or is it not worth it (around 30 euros diff, which is a 16% +)
2) Is there any other info (serial/model/product numbers) I should check on the box?
3) Is there any way to know the sensors types before buying? And if yes which ones should I go for? Would maybe buying from an official reseller assure in any way that I'm buying the best sensors options?
4) For the 2016102 model which is the 4 Global Version, do I have to buy Accessories targeted at 4 or 4X?
5) ANY other possible things to know before buying
Thanks in advance to anyone and everyone that will spend time answering my questions!!!

For #2 I meant like if on the package "product number: 2016102" is listed you can know for sure that this is RN4 Global Version. I was asking if there is any more similar checks I can do.
For #3 I meant if there is a way to know before buying if the camera sensor for example is IMX or the other one, the FP sensor is Goodix or other etc...
Also, for #4 I'm pretty sure not all accesories fit both phones. You can search on xda and find out for yourself. For example some tempered glass alternatives cover the LED notification, some cases cover IR blaster etc.

2)The product number is 201610 which is mentioned on the box.
3)I have added some screenshot of AID 64 please check. And no you can't check sensors info before. As they don't mention on the box.[Check Screenshots]
4) Yes you are right the placement of IR and notification LED are different. i got an universal backup cover from a local store which is for both variant. better you check before buying it. especially in tempered glass.

It looks like Samsung has packed a hell of a lot into such a tiny device, it also sports a unique curved display. The Samsung Gear S features full connectivity, being one of the first smart-watches to feature more than just Bluetooth technology. This device packs Bluetooth, Wifi, 3G and GPS, making the smart-watch fully functional without its "parent" device. Lets take a look at what we know so far:

Well, it's not rumoured anymore. It's verified specs.

It is unclear to me if the 2G/3G is for GSM networks only or may include CDMA. Can someone more knowledgeable answer this question?

Thanks for the tip:good: Updated the OP.
Where is the camera ?
I am disappointed...
I am happy user of the GEAR I with custom ROM, as the full year of use is coming .... and the battery life is getting shorter.. It is the high time to jump into something newer but:
- I like the camera in the watch - soo easy to take pics in the store, quick photos of the notes, etc - WHY Gear III is missing camera ???!
- Tizen again... not so easy to customize... will it be possible to have quick dial with faces of your closest friends as it was possible to do on the GEAR I ? This simple functionality remembers good old PALM..
- only 300 mAh battery - on the watch with so big screen, phone and GPS? will it run more than 30 minutes?
- "custom" BT headset?? what about the regular one - will it run with good old MW600 or SBH50 ??

They are for both, but work slightly differently.
Here's a great comparison I found....

Explains everything quite well. ?
Thanks. Let me try again. I presume on Wednesday along with the full specs it will be announced if there will be CDMA versions for the US?

That I'm afraid I can't find any info on.
May have to wait and see. ?
That is what it thought. Only 2 days to go to find out.
Anyone read that that there will be a CDMA version? Now that it is officially revealed perhaps some blog has mentioned it.
Is it definitely coming yo the US?

The GSM model is definitely coming to the US with the Note 4, and i haven't heard from Samsung about a CDMA model but I'd be surprised if they released it through at&t but not Verizon. I just reached out to my Samsung contact & will update if i hear back.

Today, I have touched the Gear S.
I can't find tethering function.
It seems to support many languages as well as Gear 2.
Screen is very beautiful.
Response is very fast.
Even turn off the screen and continue to display only the hands of the clock.

Crossing fingers for a version that works on T-mo, but so far I've seen no indication of any other version but the GSM :fingers-crossed:

Hi!
I'm really considering to buy Xiaomi Redmi 3. I think it is a really bang for your buck phone. But I use a lot of GPS, so a good GPS receiver is imperative for me. After being let down with my 2 previous phones, I don't want to make the same mistake again. So, I would like to ask anyone that already has got this phone to post a screenshot of the app GPS Test of both indoors (not apartment buildings) and outdoors satellites reception alongside with the regional location where the test was made. That would be great and help a lot to my decision.
Currently, I'm inclined to buy Moto G 3rd Gen, which has great GPS reception both indoors and outdoors. But if Xiaomi came close to it, I would rather prefer it to the motorola because of the larger battery.
Thanks in advance.
What tests specifically do you want done? I just bought this phone and I also use GPS pretty often so I will be checking it out over the next week myself anyway. More than happy to share my findings.

Hi! thanks for your availability.
Please install the app called GPS Test from The play store. The free version is enough. Then, after installation you only have to run it indoors and outdoors and take a screenshot of each one of those situations and share them here. To take a screenshot, you only have to press volume down and power button at the same time.

Hey! You were very helpful. If it can fix indoors, for sure that it has, at least, an above average GPS receiver and would preform very well outside. Thanks a lot.
Sorry for the delayed response. Here's a link to 3 screenshots. The first is in my living room that has no windows, the second is in my kitchen which does have windows and the third is outside. I live in Hebei, China. Hope this helps.

@HCPA So have you bought the redmi 3. I'm thinking to buy redmi 3 pro. Since, their hardwares are almost identical, can you share your GPS experience with us if you bought one.
Hi! No, I did not buy the Redmi 3, I bought the Motorola G 3rd gen instead. Let me tell you why.
Firstly, what attracted me the most in the redmi 3 was both the large battery and the price, around 160 euros, besides of course the, supposedly good enough gps reception.
But few things led me to change my mind. They were,
1. some people reporting having received faulty versions of the phone. As my bad experience in faulty phones in the past I didn't want to go through all of that again. In addition, Xiaomi doesn't have official support in my country, Portugal, so if I had any problems it would be really inconvenient to deal with that situation. On the contrary, Motorola has technical support in Portugal.
2. Despite the price of Moto G 3rd being around 200 euros, I paid 199,90 euros, the gps reception is if not the best in the smartphone market, certainly one of the best, sure-fire thing the best I have ever had. It always locks under 5 seconds, outdoors and indoors, sunny or cloudy weather. Check the following review http://www.notebookcheck.net/Motorola-Moto-G-3rd-Generation-Smartphone-Review.147931.0.html
3. Despite Moto g 3rd having smaller battery I find it it lasts me around 2 days of usage, which is about the same I was used to with my previous phone and it had a smaller screen. I'm not a heavy user though, if so I reckon it would last a complete day. That is also what many reviews point out about the phone that apart from redmi 3 it has the best battery life for this device range. That being said I'm still happy with my decision because after all the trade off is that the Motorola is water resistant while Redmi 3 is not and for me this is a plus since I often run in rainy days, so I don't have to worry about ruin my phone.
In conclusion, the price difference is well worth it. I have got a phone that feels and works like a premium phone. Motorola was always known for having the best cell radios in the market. Besides all of that I have stock android and I'll have plenty updates to come.
By the way, I got the 2 gig Ram version. 1 gig ram is not worth it anymore in 2016.
I hope I was helpful. Feel free to ask any other stuff about this. I'll be glad to help.

Pros over P9 plus:
Handy size 5.1inch screen
curved edge screen/pebble shape
2k screen
front finger scanner with navigation controls
New eye & face scanner/infra red camera for access & privacy
Frame sensor for hand recognition
Fast charging (70% in 20 mins)
(Some contextual aware features which most likely will not work outside China)
New Variant UI that will be developed differently from EMUI, with more youth and innovation centric.
Cons:
Not Leica branded lens and photo processing
No external memory card
Huawei branding (530$ is high for a budget branded "Honor" phone)
P9 plus has larger screen & larger battery
No pressure touch screen (Google has their software alternative though)
No stereo speakers
No changes:
12mp dual camera (not the 20mp of mate 9)
Kirin 950
Amoled Screen
If the magic has the newer Kirin 960 (LPDDR4+UFS2.1 Flash memory + Mali G71MP8) i would have gone for it without a thought. But now its not so easy. The whole front finger print sensor and eye scanner features makes it very tempting for me as when im at my work desk having to put password every time is such a pain. The P9 plus still looks very gorgeous, slim and premium and love it design wise while the Honor magic design looks pretty cool, radical & futurish. Im not a camera guy so not really important for me to have that latest best of the best camera.
Would you take the risk and go for honor Magic now or patient enough to wait another 6-8 months for the p10 which would have the Kirin 960, top notch camera, eye scanner, front finger print and bluetooth 5.0 but with more hefty price tag.

Has fast charging though. If the 2k screen on the 2900mah can last a day with no worrying about, then a 30 minute charge is not a problem for me personally. The p9 plus for me is caught in between as it lasts like 1 and half day and has to be charged every day as well to keep up that other half day.
If fast charging works on the same chipset. It will work also on P9 Plus with the same specs.

Yes you can for sure. All EMUI phones can. We usually use the pre-installed Huawei appstore to download playstore.
Also read this thread here for a general idea of what to expect on software side on a China version phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9-plus/help/to-vie-al10-t3386700
Thanks for the reply, from your experience, do you think there will be a hong kong version of the magic, or even a upgrade version with the 960 chipset to support simultaneous 4G/3G on both sim, just like the current Mate 9, or may be a 128GB version, as i'm not sure how huawei markets their phones, release one now, and a upgrade version afterwards.
Also are most bloatware deletable or allow to be disable on huawei phone.

Very very unlikely they will bring a Kirin 960. Any variant will be just a color and memory variant at max (Even color and memory variant they for now neither confirm nor deny it). If Magic was a hit they would likely bring a big size version of the phone with pumped up specs in 6-8months after release of Huawei P10. I still have no idea why they decided to go for K950 as it is such a weird choice for a 2k screen phone marketed as the future phone. Have to see the performance in hand. The honor 8 had good reviews, so maybe they wanted to continue and feel confident with all their optimizations, and also maybe to not cut down sales of Mate 9.
News sites mention Honor looking for partners like facebook to make Honor magic release in India possible. So might see in HonkKong as well. Although i also feel it could be a bit too late if it was not planned already.
As far as i read, the magic is dual sim and 4g in the sense that you can with software settings switch around which one sim uses 4g while other sim remaims on 2g. So both cannot be on 4g at same time but you can switch between sims by settings.
Yes most bloatware deletable, except for a couple of Huawei apps.

I spoken to a friend who works for Huawei, he hasn't heard about the magic, but did say that it will not be available in Hong Kong for sure, Hong Kong has stopped selling Huawei Honor series for a good few years now, and has concertrated on the P series and Mate, mid range phones like the honor series won't be available, so my only choice is to buy it direct from china, hopefully they do sell them locally from a authorized store, as I don't buy phones through online, although I do know you can get the magic from 4 huawei authorised online site. So once I get to see this phone in person I will get it on the 9th of next month.

Yes It might be on stores but from resellers with price inflated by 300-500 CNY im guessing. The most preferred option for you might be if you have a friend in China who can order it online and you can collect it since you will visit China anyway.
I ordered one early from Aliexpress re sellers at 642$ (21% increase from original price which is high and won't recommend for everyone) as a preorder with a basic non-quick 3 week shipping. The resellers on Aliexpress have now inflated the price to ridiculous 750 to 900$. I will get my phone from the 1st batch which they are only receiving in past couple days. The second batch is being sold online on 1st of January i think.
There is a dedicated forum here now btw: http://forum.xda-developers.com/magic

I like the Lg G5 massively over the note 7 just for the wide angle camera alone. Keeping the phone screen on while looking at it is possibly the worst gimmick ever.

I wish it did have the screen stay on feature when watching a video on Facebook or whatnot where you gotta move the screen once in a while to stop it from dimming. Yeah the note 7 was a failure and it also was a slow phone (Snapdragon model) but this phone having the same chip runs a lot better. Must be better optimized. The note 7 cam does beat the main cam on this phone tho, it also took HDR pics super fast. Pros and cons to everything.

No, I love the G5
Let's get this clear the G5 has the face down silence option, and if it's packed with features, u just have to look for them in the settings, and beside all that the wide angle lens is the most innovative camera feature ever on a smartphone, what would u do if u had a pixel ?
Coming from Motorola, Lenovo, and Huawei phones, and just looking at stock settings on the G5, I'm pretty impressed by what LG included. Just to be able to change global font and theme without root would've been revolutionary to me not that long ago. Granted, the LG store is relatively young/limited -and I've no idea where it will go- but it's a promising starting point. 360 wideangle live wallpaper with wideangle camera lens to make your own (eventually), drag-and-drop touch button settings, multiwindow, shortcut key commands, as small a detail as battery percentage preference... Many of these things we're used to as root mods, and in that sense they may be boring, but to have them as part of the stock basis makes me look forward to expansions of customization in the not-too-distant future, if not by LG in their store, then by the enthusiasts in this realm. It's encouraging, far from boring!
Hi guys
If you have questions about the phone, just ask
I must say, this is one of the best phones I had. I'm really happy with it. My only criteria were:
- Stock Android
- 71-72mm max. width
- Good camera
- Bonus: DT2W and GCam Mods without rooting
It has all of it, in addition to an awesome display and build quality, and just fits perfect in one hand.
I tried Nokia 7 Plus before, but it was too big for me. My previous phones were: HTC U11 Life, Xiaomi Mi A1, OnePlus 3, Nexus 5, iPhone 6.

One question - does it have a LED notification light?
@iCstyle: thank you.
No it doesn't have LED notification, like every other Nokia phone.
do you have the possibility to test 4g+ ?
there is an option to hide notch?
thanks
I didn't yet see a 4G+ icon, but 4G works good, also VoLTE.
No option to hide a notch, it should come with Pie though. But Nacho Notch works pretty good.
Hi, thinking of buying this device is it worth it, I'm stuck on this or sammy A7 honor play around 300 Mark, what's future development looking likely etc bootloader unlock will eventually arrive? Thanks

How do you enable hdr10 playback in youtube app? I can only see normal quality settings with no hdr.
I want the steel 64gb version. I had the 6.1 for a day and my big problem with that phone was the bluetooth stuttered when connected to a Cardo Packtalk Bold. No issues with BT on my QC35 headphones though. The Cardo was a deal breaker though. I'll wait until a local shop gets one in and go play with the bluetooth with the helmet on my head. How has the battery life been? Got any camera samples?

Which GCam version are you using? And have you been able to find a case anywhere? I just received my US 7.1 and am happy with it so far.
I asked this on a different thread, but is the os 64 bit or 32 bit. Want to know for sure
