Mobile data usage restrictions not working - LG G5 Questions & Answers

I have been trying to reduce my monthly data bills (in the UK), so have used the Mobile Data Settings to restrict data usage, and to disable the "Background data" option for specific apps. According to the My Data Manager stats at least some of those apps are continuing to use background mobile data however.
Has anyone else found this setting to be ineffective, and know of a reliable way of preventing apps from accessing mobile data in the background? I've tried a couple of firewall apps but none that worked (i.e. they claimed to prevent mobile data access by specified apps, but didn't)

[Q] Can you whitelist Apps for Roaming?

OK,
UK T-Mobile user.
Stock rom, unrooted
I'm in France on holiday and T-Mobile don't allow auto data roaming, to stop huge bills - they force you to choose a bundle - the £10 for 50mb is not bad, compared to other UK providers.
Trouble is Android system and app upgrades use huge quantities of data (Angry Birds Rio was 20Mb alone). Most of my apps are on auto-update, as I have a generous data allowance at home.
Q: Is there an Apps Roaming whitelist application to allow/deny the system apps and services from using roaming data, whilst still allowing GMail & nominated browser?
Q: Also, monitoring data - I always used SPB Wireless Monitor (on WinMo), but on Android this has proved to be inaccurate by up to 20%, I'm trying 3G Watchdog, and with the "pre-Froyo traffic counting interface" option selected, this seems to be working well.
Any other suggestions?
Cheers

[Q] Per-Application Limit for Mobile Data Usage

Hi
I'll soon be going out for a trip and will be using my phone in International Roaming.
I do not want to turn off the mobile data completely since I wish to use the Google maps and my exchange email, however I want to disable mobile data access for all other applications.
Is there anyway I can achieve this?
Thanks in advance
Settings/data usage......click on individual apps and you will see a check box at the bottom

[Q] Queue background data

can someone explain to me the difference between Autosync Data and Queue Background Data in the android data settings? I know what the first does, but I'm not clear on what the second does.

Queue background data
Another new and important power management feature is the Queue background data functionality, which minimises the number of network connection attempts when the screen is off. By queuing and releasing all network requests at set intervals of 15 minutes, the time spent in the connected radio state is minimised and the battery life is increased. When Stamina Mode is enabled, the Queue background data will only queue the connections for white listed applications, since all other applications are already blocked from using network connections.
Queuing background data will save power both on LTE and 3G networks, while for WiFi connections this functionality is not used. It is enabled by default but can be turned off by the user under Settings > Data usage > menu > Queue background data.
As an app developer, it can be useful to know that online connections are not created exactly when applications request it. However, the queuing of background data is only applicable for new connections, as old connections that have already been established will still be able to send and receive data.

E/connectivityService(501): warning, forbidden third-party APP to active mobile data

Hi Guys,
I am just trying to disable / enable 3G mobile data connection automatically, and tried several apps from play store and all of the apps were not able to control mobile data. I see the following error message when running logcat on terminal:-
E/connectivityService(501): warning, forbidden third-party APP to active mobile data connection
- I am using Gfive G9 mobile running android 4.2.1
- I can manually turn on and off 3g mobile data connection using quick launch button - no problem
- Data connection is working when it is turned on - no issue
- But i need to use third party app (like llama, or Data on-off) to control my data connection when screen off or match configured rules but none of the application seems to control data connection due to above error.
- I am not using any other app as a firewall to restrict communication with data connection.
Just wondering if anybody has came across with the issue before?
Any help please?
Thanks in advance
