After a while the phone display stops working - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I thought my phone display stopped working. A week later I tried to plug it in power source and charge it - the phone display started working again. After 10 minutes the phone screen turned black again and even restart doesn't get it back on. Everything works, just the display keeps doing this. The backlighting works. Does anyone know how to fix this? I do not have a removable battery.

Atrix Wont Turn On

So I'm having a really strange problem, and it seems like the phone is completely dead. This may be unrelated, but about 5 or so days ago, my camera stopped working, and in the week before the failure, it would make a clicking noise whenever I used it. Last night however, I woke up to my phone rebooting itself over and over. I didn't know what the problem was, and didn't want to deal with it, so I pulled the battery out (not while it was booting). This morning, when I woke up I could not get the phone to turn back on. I tried two different batteries, tried each alone, and each plugged in to AC as well. No response from the power button at all, nothing on the screen, no green LED flash, nothing. Heres the odd part: If I take the battery out, and plug it in to my PC, the green LED turns on, yet, the power button still does nothing.

[Q] Problems since installing CM7 on HTC Merge

The first time I've allowed my battery to get very low since installing CM7 on my HTC Merge and I'm now having all sorts of problems.
Firstly my screen won't light up. It's just completely black. The phone is on and the 4 buttons at the bottom light up but that's all. The phone is still responding to my touch as I can load apps and hear noises if I happen to touch the correct parts of the screen. It's almost as if the brightness has been turned way down, but I'm unable to see the controls to try turning it up again. I have tried booting to recovery mode but that doesn't display either.
Secondly the battery won't charge. Since the battery is drained I can only get the phone on when it is plugged in, but the orange "charging" led at the top of the phone never lights up. It just casually flashes like it ordinarily would have done when it was running from the battery. I have two batteries and they're both doing this.
I can't be 100% sure that these problems are due to the installation of CM7 but I've never experienced it before so i'm guessing they're connected.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can get my phone working again.
It's also worth mentioning that it is also no longer recognised by my computer
Sounds like a hardware fault, if you have the same issues in recovery as you do in your os then its very unlikely its ROM/software related
I don't your device nor have I taken it apart so its only guesses I could give you on which component needs to be replaced, LCD or flex cable are best guesses

Want to update on this as I've just had another look at it after a while.
With the battery having completely drained, I connected the phone to charge via my PC and the orange charge light lit up and the phone went into recovery mode without any assistance from me. After about 2 seconds the screen went off again.
When the battery has charged sufficiently, I am once again able to turn the phone on and it boots up... but the screen remains blank.
If I discharge the battery and then plug it into my PC, I am able to repeat the appearance of the recovery screen, but it always vanishes before I am able to do anything.
The screen must be surely be functional or how would I get those 2 seconds of display ?
Does anybody have any ideas of what I can do to get the phone working again?
I acquired a new battery and after fitting it the phone immediately worked again. The battery was completely without charge but the phone charged it up without any problems. However, as soon as the power ran low the same thing happened; the screen has stopped working and the battery doesn't seem to charge anymore.

[Q] Archos 101 G9 bricked?

Hi there
I have used this tablet without bigger problems for months. a few days ago I've turned it on and after a few minutes using it the device froze completely. then the screen turned black after a few seconds, power led off. I've tried to reset it by pressing power button long and nothing happens, display black, led off.
Everytime I plug it in, the power led turns on, but nothing else happens.
Today I've opened the device and found out the batteries are at 2.8V. I've then charged them with my Lipo charger (had to desolder it, charge and then resolder). Still nothing works. And if there's no battery connected the exact same happens like with the batteries in place: nothing exept green led turns on.
So, why did this happen and how can it be fixed?
Thanks
same thing happened
hi,
exactly the same thing happened to me. Did you manage to solve the problem?
I also tried to empty the batteries and then to re-start, no success. The LED will light for a couple of minutes then turns off, but nothing else happens afterwards, the screen remains black all the time.
Resetting the device also doesn't work, the screen won't turn on, not even in the recovery mode.
I would appreciate any help on this issue.

still dead
Nope, unfortunately I could never fix it so it's just laying around collecting dust as a expensive paperweight...

I9300 seems to freeze after turning off the screen

This problem started happening two weeks ago and it's quite annoying. Running Android 5.11 Archidroid with the latest Archikernel version on my phone.
The problem is that my Galaxy S3 seems to freeze when the screen turns off. If the screen is turned off for maybe half an hour or more, pressing the power button will not wake the device. In an attempt to figure out if it's a broken power button, I set the home and volume buttons in the settings menu as keys that will turn on the screen, but that doesn't work either. The only way to fix the issue is to hold the power button to restart the device and doing that every couple of hours gets really annoying. Trying to turn on the screen literally does nothing, as if the phone is turned off.
When the phone is not charging, the interval between the freezes seems to be much longer. The phone will work perfectly for a couple of hours without the above mentioned problem but when on a charger it quickly screws up.
Now, I don't believe my device turns off during this "process". I've turned on the LED for charging and whenever I'd get the screen freezing problem I'd unplug the charger and the LED wouldn't go away, it'd still light up as if the phone is connected to the charger, which it isn't.
Anyone have any idea on what the problem is? I've never experienced this before and it started happening all of a sudden.
How low is the kernel clockspeed running in sleep mode?. Should be at 200mhz at the very minimum!.

If this does not happen on a stock ROM, it would be a problem with the ROM and the phone.

Bootloop

Hey, so, firstly I have a blue life one x. I love the phone and haven't had any problems until now.
I got an android update and my phone restarted, which has happened with the last two updates I got, so I didn't think anything of it. However, my phone was practically dead when this started and it restarted and got to the screen where it says "Android is starting... Optimizing application 1 of 143"
It would get to around 100 and turn off, restart and get to about 100 and turn off again.
I googled around and found a thing called bootloop. By what now seems to be a stroke of luck, my phone eventaully charged to about 40% and I got it to turn on and everything was fine but a few days ago, it died again and I ran into the same problem.
I went back to the boot loop instructions and tried it to no avail.
My phone has a fixed battery, so removing it wasn't an option. I left of the phone off the charger for 30 minutes and held the power button for two minutes(to discharge any remaining power?). Plugged it back in and it went right back to trying to boot back up and optimize apps.
I then removed the case, detached the ribbon that connects the battery to the board, held the power button for two minutes and let it sit for 3 hours. I connected the ribbon, plugged the charger back in and it instantly tried to boot up back into the optimizing screen and turned off.
I did all this again but left it for the past two days and now its back to rebooting over and over...
Things of note:
The light indicator turns red when the phone is connected to a charger, whether the battery ribbon is connected or not.
When it displays the blu splash screen, the optimizing applications screen, or recovery mode, the light indicator is off.
I can get into recovery mode, but I can't do anything before the phone turns off and reboots again.
Any help would be appreciated!
