I would recommend the Moto X (2nd Gen) thanks to its stronger processor and everything else.
Regarding the rooting process, you should check the dedicated forum for this phone by clicking here https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014

hi there, im a new user. and new to the android world completely. ive been an iphone owner since release. but when the abomination of the iphone 5 was released, and my network provider were demanding £100 for an extra row of apps! i decided it was time for a change. and im so happy i have. android is far superior. and i dont know how ive managed with out.
now i dont know much about rooting and hacking, and im currently reading up on it. how ever the main thing i want from my phone at the moment is a software upgrade EE are being very slow at rolling out the 4.1 update and im still stuck on 4.0 when a lot of my friends are on 4.1 and above. the only computer i have access to is an apple mac ( i know but im a music student and i need logic pro for my course) so my main question is can anyone tell me if i can still root & hack the phone with a mac? what software do i need? and how do i do it.
thanks in advance. jack
Use isyncer available on Google play along with the Mac program downloaded from isyncer's website (Google it) to be able to sync ur phone to your iTunes library. Great app because it copies the exact album art and I tune library tag over

You can install a Virtual Machine mac app with Windows 7. After that mount your phone inside that VM, install drivers for the phone, download the firmware you want and flash with odin.
Good luck.

But you have to be careful, as because of the small patent issues and court cases, your mac will try to send premium SMS to charge you for using Apple patent for peaceful communication with Samsung device
I'm using iSyncr from the Play Store (you can try the free version first if you want, it has some limitations though, I think a song limit or something like that).
It has a client running in the background on your Mac 24/7 and when you connect the phone it starts up and asks you what you want to sync, showing you all the music you have in iTunes.
For other stuff I use the wonderful AirDroid, to which you connect from your browser.
This combination works great for me for normal use, and WiFi transfer speeds are great for normal usage.

i have to say welcome to freedom jack
you are personally the 6th person I know say goodbye to the apple jail
I have all my friend change to android ones they use my sgs3 and they all have macs
like Mr Benthe suggested just before me
so I'll give you the same help
if some one has already suggested "android" sorry I haven't read all of the responses.
if you encounter any issues using adb or sdk editing I can suggest "parallels" for mac you can Google it pretty much embeds xp functionality to any mac so any pc software can be run without any problem
if you install the latest "kies" from Samsung I suggest you do it ones you add parallels as it will work better ones you do that skies from Samsung will look at any backup you did to your iPhone and suggest getting all this settings and ad them to your sgs3
ones you get the handle of these "flashing" rooting and all the mumble jumble
I suggest start with search for you carriers modem and learn it as you'll have some connection issues if it does have a preferred modems . then personally
try stock kernels like dlib jelly bean one of the best stock kernel in my opinion
then go ahead and go crazy with any custom kernel

Just got my Xperia tablet Z yesterday. Loving it so far.
I was wondering what I can throw my videos to (their DLNA sharing feature).
I have my computer, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360 hooked up to my TV.
I would think that the PS3 would be the most likely device, since it can stream videos from a computer. How do you set that up?
Thanks
*bump*
Just to follow up, this feature works but isn't that great, in my experience.
You can turn on 'media server' in the Xperia settings. The device showed up on my ps3 and computer, but in both cases I got an error when actually trying to play a video. I'm sure I could fiddle with it to get the files to play, but I don't think I'd use it anyway.
What I was hoping for is, I could watch a video on the bus on the way home, and if I don't finish it, I wanted to effortlessly finish off the video on the bigger screen. I don't think it really works that way though.
I throw to my WD TV Live. Works perfectly with music, doesn't at all with video (but I don't mind, I mean, it's a WD TV Live so I don't need a smartphone for that )
I just picked up my XTZ today finally. Was trying to throw from my Xperia Z to the tablet but can't get either to see the other device is available :-\

The trow feature in my opinion is fantastic, but extremely temperamental.
I throw video to my Xbox 360 constantly, bearing in mind that my videos have to be coded a certain way with handbrake in order for them to show.
That's even before it recognizes the device. Every time, it takes me 10minutes just to get the tablet to see the Xbox is switched on. It requires multiple reboots of both the Xbox and the Tablet, It seems it must be done a 'certain' way in order for the tablet to recognize the Xbox.
Let's the feature down big style.
The most important thing to bear in mind when using DLNA is that the DLNA-server decode the video.
The DLNA-client shows it.
If your device can't play MKV with DTS, then it won't work.
The best thing you can do is to install PS3 Media Server on your computer with MPlayer.
Then use your computer as file-server which can make all your devices play all file-types.
I use it on my KDL-46V5500, PS3 and XTZ.

I'm not sure 100% but I think that I have read that since last june update Throw doesn't work on XZ, must be verified as I don't use this feature for now.
Yeah, this feature isn't really useful unless it's dead simple (for video anyway).
If it takes 5 minutes to get it going, you might as well just copy the video over with a USB stick.

Yeah no worries. Wish throw worked to a PS3. Have to use the media server feature of the tablet/phone instead. Would have thought I could throw media to the tablet too but guess not.

Throw works pretty well for me actually. I can throw to my TV directly. (Samsung 55ES8000), as well as a Sony Google TV device. It's actually kind of convenient, and always begins working within just a moment for video, and audio. So I guess as goes with everything; Your mileage may vary.
I'm new and I don't mean to be a bother.

Hi. The reason I'm replying to your comment it's because I have a question that it's related to what you were expecting from the throw feat, but I don't know if this is the right place to ask or where to start this thread. But anyway... here it goes.
I just got an Xperia z1 and its the first time I heard about the throw feature and it got me thinking... I know this is still a little far fetched but hey, great products have to start somewhere. So, what would be needed to make something like throw but more powerful? almost like the software that Tony stark uses in the Iron man movies where you could actually "throw" an image with a gesture on your smartphone to your TV or xbox without the need of syncing or asking for permissions. Now, I know this just causes a lot of trouble because of the matter of privacy and security (you know, you wouldn't want strangers sending porn to your tv while your kids watch cartoons), not to mention that there's the matter of choosing the actual device that you want to send the file to among all the other devices, and this means that there would be need of a lot of new protocols and a lot of work but you have to start somewhere, right? I'm sorry if I'm being naive, I know developing something like this would take years and a team of experts but I'm willing to work hard and do a lot of research. I just need someone to pint me in the right direction
I apologize in advance if I'm just wasting everybody's time. I'm just a begginer developer that just started an engineering career in computer systems. Also I've been playing a lot of Watch dogs lately and the idea of accesing everything from your smartphone is just so fricking mesmerizing
HTC one X not beeing able to connect
Hello,
of course I am new here and probably every one will lough at my problem. My wife bought me Samsung Gear S and I am trying to make it working with my HTC one X. I have already updated and rooted this phone and now I am running Android 4.4.2 (3.1.10 cyanogenmod, AOSB KitKat version 1.3.2) which my friend installed for me. I have also followed the main instruction of this post and was able to install software and get the gear s to appear to my phone. Unfortunatelly the gear manager keeps trying to connect and nothing happens. the GEAR S is waiting for configuration and the phone with gear manager is trying to connect with the watch.
is that possible that this HTC one X is not compatible with gear s?
Thank you for any help.

You can try to do the Gear Manager mod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723862
I have found that this is a proven way to get the two connected. However, as i read thru the forum, it seems tho some things don't work and problems began to appear with some members.
This is how I solved the issue with my HTC One. It works very well and has yet to cause any issues.

I really think you'll love this watch... One of the better SW's I've tried. The Tizen os has a great GUI, but lacks severely in available apps. Hopefully, that will change... but I'm not holding my breath. Overall, the stock apps are sufficient to do all the necessary tasks... but that's about it, not much customizing here.
I do know that root has already been achieved. This should open the doors for some decent mods. So check the forums often.
Good luck!
still not done
So far no luck. I have follow all the instructions from the post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723862
and got to the point that I pair the devices. If I use newest version of the soft the gear manager does not see my watch. When I instaled instead older version (~1.7 -2.0) than I can see my watch in the gear manager and pair with it. But that does not solve my problem. After pairing the phone goes to connecting mode and conects with the gear s forever.
there is also solution for this on the post you have sent me and I have installed all that, but unfortunatelly nothing changeg. Still connecting forever.
I am starting to think: is that possible that HTC One X has Bluetooth that is not compatible with the gear s?
thanks for help. I am still trying.

So let me just start by explaining my project and the goal. I currently work part time at target and they give us a piece of equipment they call the MYDEVICE to use for basic work functions (EX: finding things for people, checking and comparing prices ECT.). The MYDEVICE as its called is a jailbroken Ipod touch with target apps loaded on it and an otg case with a bar-code scanner built in. Problem is they don't work very well and tend to crash alot. I have often then been forced to use my LG G3 to do the job since it has most of the apps on it from the play store. Then one day it dawned o me "why not just buy a cheap LG phone and customize it to do what the "MYDEVICE" does and use it instead.
Here is where I am currently with this project
I have an lg tribute virgin mobile FS660 model.
It is rooted with twrp recovery installed.
The two snags I still have left are:
1.
I cannot figure out for the life of me how to unlock the bootloader via adb (the phone wont connect/ accept the commands it just reboots).
I am using this method to unlock the bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020
any help suggestions or clarifications on what to do would be wonderful :/
2.
I cannot get cyanogenmod 12.1 to work properly on it it bootloops every time I try to run it
I have proper gapps and the rom .img is made by unjustified dev.
any help with these issues would be awesome
my goal is to have a small portable device to use on the clock that will work more reliably than the glorified ipod touch I am currently forced to use.
PS big thanks to avicohh and the people who wrote the ADB tools install for windows you rock
I can't seem to find any info here (or anywhere else, really) for this device made by Chinese manufacturer JXD. Here is a link: http://www.jxd.hk/game-console/s192/
It runs the nVidia Kepler chipset. This means, in theory, I should be able to wipe this device and flash the nVidia Shield Tablet K1 stock ROM on it. I can't seem to find any information on how to do it, though. Looks like there is very little information about this particular manufacturer in general. I was wondering if anyone here has any information about this device they can share with me?
Thanks.
Hi, was just able to root mine using kingoroot (pc version) moments ago.
https://www.kingoapp.com/root-tutorials/how-to-root-android-4.4.htm
GL! Hope someone would make a marshmallow rom for this great device..
Kingoroot installs some apps with it on your pc and device so just uninstall them too.
Hello
at the moment there is nothing that's a shame for a jxd device does not upgrade a marshmallow
The device is great to play but this way it only uses for retro games
P.S I HOPE THAT SOMEONE VERY GOOD WE CAN HELP
BUT I BELIEVE THAT NO MAYBE it ABLE TO UPDATE THE JXD SINGULARITY
good day
Can you guys give a review of this device?
I'd like to know how the controls feel (compared to an xbox gamepad)
Additionally, I'd like to know how it works with PS4 remote play apk and moonlight (for PC streaming)
As for how to for flashing..etc I could definitely work on that as I'm looking to buy one but I'd like to know more about the device since there are ZERO reviews out there for this.
The controls are well built and it is really comfortable to hold. I had this for 4months and loved it. Unfortunately one of the joystick broke and had to return it. Return process was dodgy but luckily I got my money back. Now I have the GPD XD. User experience wise I liked the JXD S192 more.. Though mine broke, I'd still pick the JXD S192 over the GPD XD if given the chance. The screen was awesome for any gaming.. I'd honestly say they hit the sweet spot design wise.
***********WARNING FLASH/INSTALL @ YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!*************
I do not take any responsibility if anything were to go wrong in the process of installing any apps to your device!!!!!!
Hey Guys
So I recently brought the JXD S192k of GearBest and the first thought that came to mind was how i was going to root it just like all my other android devices, little did I know just how difficult it was gonna be to find any information regarding the root process.
All searches regarding this device and obtaining root were fruitless, it didn't matter what I searched under there's just isn't anything out there!
Frustrated I turned to Kingoroot only to find myself more frustrated as i needed to reroot everytime i restarted the device, each time taking longer than the last and keeping this thing ON was not an option.
Then.........I happened to stumble across something that changed everything, looking through the official JXD digital site I saw that they had a Firmware available for the previous version the S192 and in amongst the files was a Root apk. So I thought to myself there isn't much of a difference between the 2 devices so I downloaded it from the Mega site and transferred it to my device.
Once it installed it was just like the Chinese version of Kingoroot and even through everything was in Chinese you could pity much make out what you needed to press. The process it didn't take long and with the 2 root checker apps installed I confirmed that I indeed rooted my device so I went ahead and installed BusyBox to the system.
The best thing about this process is not having to worry about losing root upon restarting, there's one thing that I should mention is NOT to install any sort of SuperSu apks or zip files as you'll get a error message stating the SU binary is occupied. Just use the INBUILT supersu that comes with the Root apk and you should be fine.
Here's some screen shots taken from my system to show that it does work, along with my system details taken from Device info apk.
Hopefully someone out there in the XDA community can expand on what I've stumbled across in the hopes that one day we'll be able to get a custom recovery for our machines.
I have owned the sinigularity for about 4-5 years and I think its an awesome bit of gear for what it is. The controls work fine and feel good in the hand and I've used it with remotr linked to my PC and and found it did work fine for games that didn't require split second reflex timing but there was a little lag. Over all it worked great and you can run your PC remotely from other rooms in your house (if you wanted too).
The 10,000 mah battery is the real deal and has plenty of playtime.
I use it a lot for playing movies and link it to a projector via the HDMI output. The screen is a great size and I don't know how they didn't become more popular.
I only found this thread because I was looking for firmware upgrades but as you all know there doesn't seem to be any. Either way I'm still using it but it would be nice if they had support.
