Good to hear! Hopefully it is everything that we all hope for! Plus hopefully it will have the same amount of support and development as OnePlus or something just a little more than we have had so far. The Axon7 community has been great and if there is more want for the next version I might just get it.
yeah, good to hear... so I guess they'll just leave axon 7 support at the point it is now.
I'm so hyped about this!
To be honest all I want is a better camera and a larger battery, that would be enough for me if they keep all the current features!
Bad news. Probably means no more support for the 7.

But till then, the HTC U11+ is the ideal axon 7 alternative / competitor for 2017....
This is good news, hopefully it will only be a few months away, if that.

But U 11+ is way too more costlier than Axon 7. (roughly $900)
No thank I'll wait for Axon 7 successor. Btw Axon 7 global version is now available at $265 and with 10% additional discount on Gearbest.com

You can't directly compare these two devices.
Let's wait and see if the new axon will cost the same 400 dollar as the axon 7 did.
I don't think so. The axon M is much more expensive. Devices from oneplus too.
Instill the new device from zte will be getting available, the HTC will drop in price.
This is nice. It said we won't hear anything until well into 2018, so I'm guessing mid year or so, like maybe an April thru June release. I hope they don't go too far from the Axon 7 as I like this phone very much, especially the speakers! Hope it will have Band 71 (which it should), a better camera for those night shots, and be water resistant! I wouldn't mind a slightly larger screen, either, but not too big. I also wouldn't mind the same screen size, which is more likely.
I'll probably wait as long as I can to get it since I want to give time for devs to get root for it and all.
BTW, does the ZTE warranty also give out a discount for a future phone? I thought I read something about that.
Of interest:
ZTE Axon 7 is no longer in production.

So I will be receiving my Honor 5x on Monday. I am currently using a Nexus 4.
With Honor 5x, I am getting a better 64 bit processor, fingerprint, bigger battery, bigger and better screen, sd slot, dual sim. This upgrade was long overdue.
What I am going to miss from my nexus 4 is the community support and plethora of custom ROMS.
My question is will Honor 5x support get any better than this? The price is cheap and bootloader is unlocked, why aren't many developers porting their ROMs to Honor 5x? Is their something hindering the support even though the bootloader is unlocked?

I am excited! I like to tinker a lot with my phones and I am sure same will be the case my honor 5x.
This is my take on it but may be once Honor 5x releases the official 6.0 update, then we will see the actual development for 5x
I believe there is no point investing time in 5.1.1 when 6.0 is around the corner.
I hope that is the case. Even if it isn't, this looks like an excellent choice for the price.

It worths the money, and it's not bad even with stock EMUI ( I am runing Android 6.0.1 on EMUI 4.0 )
This phone is for its price best there is nowadays. have it for 2 weeks and thinking of rooting it as well.
Imo, all the other phones in this price range suffer from two major flaws: 1) lack of manufacturer support post-release 2) lack of hobby developer support. Normally 2) is a direct result of 1). To Huawei's credit they allow full access to the device (bootloader unlock), they publish source code, and they engaged the developer community early on. Even further, they released a major OS update to the phone (Android 5 -> 6.0). As a result we now have a fairly active dev community including a newly minted official CM13 rom. Not many other $200 phones can say that.
If you say its a €500 euro phone with CM i would believe it.. it makes the phone so much faster you wont see a big diffrence between other phones! And the phone has a Premium look aswell. You wont notice its a mid end phone with a low end CPU.
I got this phone ($90USD) to replace my Xperia Z1 Compact and highly recommend it, even for retail $200. Best budget phone I've ever seen. My one gripe is the lack of NFC (I have tags stuck all over the place). However, it's a very well built, solid device with a surprisingly good screen and pretty good battery life. Everyone who's seen it has thought it looked like a $600 phone.
Awesome, awesome buy. Can't recommend it highly enough (assuming you put CM13 on it otherwise ignore every positive thing I've said because the stock interface is not great).
I thought I got a deal @$120! (Prime day).
But I agree, even @ $200 it's still a great value.
This it my current back up phone. I wouldn't pay more than $150 for it at this point, especially you can get the Amazon's Moto G4 for $150 and manually remove the ads.
I consider this the poor man's Nexus 6P. I think the phone is only worth it if you install Cyanogen on it, then it work just like the Nexus. I'm running the phone at 1366x768 resolution to improve the performance.

The Honor 5X, imho, is only worth getting if you flash CM13 on it. Otherwise, I wouldn't exactly consider it, especially with the new phones coming out now. You know, if you care about performance and not extra features (specifically the FPS), the LG G3 should be a better phone overall for not much more.
Also, do you not find the OnePlus 2 a better phone for $300? It's basically a souped up version of the Honor 5X, minus the expandable storage. There's also the LG G4 and Moto X Pure. All of the phones I've mentioned are objectively better than the Honor 5X for sub $300.

Agree 100% with this.
The honor 5x is OK for a backup device only because it just doesn't have the package to make it scream.

Discussion about the new Axon 7
Honestly, the camera is the only viable upgrade needed in this phone. The processor gains aren't worth the hassle IMO. Maybe battery, maybe backlit capacitive buttons..
Just the battery would do it ... I take it any time
Since I do that want to renew my contract Whit att it's. Good option
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I hope it does mean more support for standard axon 7
No axon 8 right now. It's Axon 7s. Confirmed by tech folks in the know
Well seems the differences it's not only on SOC
Better camera and bigger battery capacity too.

Too bad it doesn't appear to support all USA LTE bands.
I'm only hoping that it has the same battery size ( eg. dimensions) so we could get "original" extended battery.
The big questions are:
1. Will it be available globally ?
2. What about the price ?
Also it seems to be much more like OP3T with bigger screen and better audio and double cam (may not be better)
Will it blend ? Who knows...
What about the software? We all know that android 7 Beta became official one and they didn't fix all major issues, such as atos option not working. Any thoughts on this?
Duel camera setup sounds awesome
I would waiting Axon 8 where ever unveiled and not that version.
I think within summer ZTE will release successor of Axon 7 unless want Onleplus 5 to have 100% the only attention of users all around world at 400-450$€ market segment category.

Hardly confirmed by anyone who this phone is for. First leak/article said it was only for Government Agencies with a security focus.
Has anyone gotten it?
After my Axon got wrecked, my service center replaced my whole device under warranty, so I didn't unseal the box and managed to sell it for 200€.
I'm getting paid in the end of the month and will pick up the Pocophone F1 in the Axon's place.
It's been a wonderful journey owning this phone, great dev support, wouldn't have used it this long if it wasn't for that.
A big thank you to everyone in this forum, I'll miss you.

Hope you will have some good time with your new phone.
I am using Xiaomi devices since one year and I love the battery life.
Unfortunately the Axon became unusable as a daily driver, because newer ROMs have terrible battery life. So it became more a multimedia device for usage at home.

Hahaha, made me laugh, thanks man.
I did ended up bought zenfone 5z mainly for the performance and battery life. I'm gonna keep the axon 7 for backup and sometime use for multimedia device. The dual speaker on axon 7 is one of the best feature I ever use.
For the headphone jack performance. At first, the jack output on 5z was low compare to the axon 7. But after update the output was much better and maybe on par with the axon 7.
The same case for our global axon 7 way back on android marshmellow when headphone output was limited because the EU law and it was fixed on nougat.

See ya man, thanks for your contributions towards this device's community. Been shopping around myself, but think I may hold out a little longer for the next gen phones.
Oh thanks for the offer by the way... :silly:
Great choice.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 inbound, to replace the 2016 ZTE Axon 7. After doing some research, it came down to the LG G7 ThinQ or the Samsung Galaxy S9. I had been holding off to wait and see the new Google Pixel 3, but I just cannot see paying $ 800 for the base model and most of the reviewers still prefer the S9. Amazon sells the 64 GB black Galaxy S9 for $ 620, and that was as good a price as I could find, with the added bonus of more points on the Amazon credit card. This is for the unlocked version, good for GSM and CDMA US carriers, and has a US warranty. I will initially switch my Cricket SIM card into it, while my wife looks into adding it to her Verizon plan. Verizon has much better service in this area than does AT&T/Cricket, and she thinks she can get some sort of family plan or discount. I wanted to have the option of a phone that I could switch between Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and their resellers as needed.
This will be my first Samsung phone, but the people I know who have that brand seem to like them. I am keeping the Axon as a backup and media device.
I'll make the switch after the Axon 9 is released in the US. At that point it will either be the A9 or the Galaxy Note 9. I've heard good things about both, it's a close tie. I'm accustomed to Samsung Android, having owned several of them, but the Note 4 was the last. I'd really like to give ZTE another chance. I just had my A7 returned from a warranty repair, working good as new. There is no real need to get rid of it, but I like to have the latest. The A9 will need to be bootloader-unlockable, rootable, and TWRP available before I'll consider it. I'm sure there will be some good Treble ROMs for both devices.
Nooo!!! Ty for everything

It's a beast to be honest but I miss the axon.
I'm facing a very annoying touch latency issue which is to be resolved soon hopefully by a software update, but until this gets solved the axon performs better.

I did hear of it having some touchscreen problems and connectivity in the US. Isn't the 6t out soon?
I've been pretty happy with my Mate 10 but feel it's time for a change. Almost got the Mi 9T Pro but then specs for the Oneplus 7T emerged and that is now the favourite. Tried the Oneplus 7 Pro earlier but hated the curved screen. Mate 30 probably out due to the google apps nonsense.
Just wondered what fellow Mate 10 users have moved to and how it worked out. Or which device(s) you have your eye on?
Personally if it's confirmed that Mate 10 will be getting Android Q then it's a must keep for another year and maybe 1 more after that. Even without that It does all I need and more. Never been happier with a phone.
I'm a bit picky about the design of my phone, I hate curved screens, notch, teardrop, cut out designs. And Mate 10 doesn't fall into any of that. I don't like the current trends I just want compromise. But that's only personal preference.
Currently I'm holding off until the Mate 40 comes out next year, and when that time comes I'll start weighting things.
Good thing U have many brands to choose from but no need to rush unless u are having serious problems with your device, where I live the only choices are huawei and Samsung so I only upgrade when it's really crucial to do so, and that's not even close right now.
I hope this helped u. Peace.
My mate 10 pro will have an afterlife in the hands of my wife. :fingers-crossed:
But it won't be a Huawei anymore. Just because there is no development around these brand and that sucks.
For now I would prefer Oneplus devices. Also Xioami isn't too bad either.
Will see what the market has to offer next year.
I am fascinated by all the new devices that come out. But also I always come to the conclusion. that the Mate 10 (Pro) is still a very good smartphone that is very capable of keeping up with the new ones. Sure the wide angle and zoom lenses are great and also the SoC are better in Benchmarks, but at the end of the day my Mate 10 Pro can do all I need.
One reason why I decided to buy a flagship smartphone in 2017 was "I want a phone that can keep up for a while". I knew I didnt need the flagship SoC performance but I bought it so it would still be fast 2 years later. Now the time begins where I think I profit of paying extra in 2017. Thatswhy I'll keep it till it breaks, hopefully many years from now. I will soon order a new battery and replace it myself (while also changing my shattered back panel). Very happy with the device and Huaweis promise "wont slow down within at least 2 years" proved to be right.
I change device because i would reduce form factor, but with best camera

Personally, I love mine and I have no reason to upgrade. If I could pick any, I would still be pretty open minded as I don't do roms so bootloader locked isn't an issue for me. As long as it is pretty equal in features to price ratio and it has all the ones I need, gladly it can be my next.
It's amazing I've had my M10P for almost two years cos it's as new and fast as the day I bought it!
I gave my Mate9 to my wife then and she stopped using her Sammy for the M9. I wanted to get her a Y9prime but she wants the M10P so I guess it's the M30P for me.
I used to have LGs (G2, G3, V10 & G5) - the last two got affected by bootloop and being out of US, I wasn't entitled to a replacement. Those days, I flashed custom ROMs bi-weekly my favourite was Cloudy.
I didn't think I could survive with a locked bootloader but here I am 3 & 1/2 years after switching to Mate 9.
I will still stick to Mate series but I wish Huawei will create their own OS probably off Sailfish which means we can still install Google services.
If Huawei want to retain market share, they should unlock bootloader in devices as it'll not only keep us but also entice new users of their devices.
Talking about changing devices, I may go for the new P30 Pro.
But if I had to move away from Huawei all together, I'll consider the K20 Pro as an alternative - for me, it's better than OP7 Pro
Edit:
I think I may go for Asus ROG phone II or Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro
I'm going through the same dilemma. I usually change phones very fast. But its been 1.5 yrs with the Mate 10 Pro and there's nothing in the market that comes close to being a great replacement for this. My only problem now is that the updates haven't come in for 2 months now (US Version) and I don't think it'll get any more. I love the camera, speaker, bluetooth strength, Wifi speeds and just how smooth and fast it is even after 1.5 yrs.
But, if there has to be a replacement, then I might go for the Pixel 4 or jump over to the iPhone 11. Waiting for their announcements to see how good they are.

Still waiting to see what the Pixel brings to the table.
The iPhone 11 Pro has a wide angle camera which is the only thing missing in the Mate 10 Pro. Pics will be good for a flagship, and videos are the best as usual. iOS is not to my taste and the max I've held an iPhone is for 4-5 months (8 plus). Since nothing major has changed in iOS 13, I'm in a dilemma.
No more Huawei's for me, because just like any other manufacturer, updates stop coming after a point or are really slow. My Mate10 Pro hasn't received an update for 2 months now. Yeah, they've been much better than Samsung or LG, but that's nothing to boast about.

B- been in repair for the past month.

If I was upgrading and sticking to huawei I'd rather get the Mate 30 (non pro). The only things I don't like are that it doesn't have QHD display and no support for standard SD card. And also I think it doesn't have dual speakers but I'm not sure. I'm holding off until the Mate 40 unless my Mate 10 become unusable.
The lack of Google apps doesn't bother me at all but for the average consumer it could be an issue.
I like to watch a films at my car during my journeys Larger screens are better for this.
I'm leaning towards the Oneplus 7T. It looks like the uk will only get 128gb but Wonda Mobile think they might have the 256gb version in November.
