I have att grandfathered unlimited plan.
When I try to turn On hotspot my iPhone 7 plus can connect but the mate 10 will have No internet.
On my Essential phone if I connect my iPhone they bought have internet.
No problem on the Mate 10 Pro

This Streak 5 works fine. It was on AT&T, but is now out of contract and "unlocked." My plan (scheme) is to buy a cheap data-capable GoPhone, and put its SIM into the Streak. So far, I don't think there's a problem.
But GoPhone offers a $50/month unlimited plan (voice, text, data). Can I buy that plan and use the Streak with tethering to get my other computer (laptop) online?
Streak as wifi hotspot
I use a Virgin Broadband SIM card in my streak (with 2.2.2) and use it as wifi hotspot at home as my only internet connection serving 3 laptops, 1 desktop, and at least 2 windows phones.
If any machines are windows XP make sure you have the wpa2 upgrade (search on MS site) or you won't be able to secure connect with wpa2 key.
The wireless hotspot works well but the range is limited compared to typical wireless routers, but maybe that is a good thing so the neighbour doesn't try to hack into your wireless.
Hello, this is noob question, my friend just upgraded his iphone 3g to Samsung galaxy note. He still has the old unlimited data plan, and he wanted use the wifi hot spot, but they told him, in order to use the wifi hotspot feature, he has to give up the unlimited data plan...which he does not want to....is there any way for him to keep the unlimited data plan and use the wifi hot spot feature through rooting and through SU?

A couple phone carriers have unlimited 4G device data. As in it will never throttle. I work from my laptop a lot and was bummed to hear that it's only 8 gigs of hotspot data. Yeats ago I paid for a full version of Foxfi and I was wondering if any body knows if usb tether uses hot spot or device data.

use PDANet or EasyTether Pro
T-Mobile One Plus International plan does NOT give you unlimited LTE hotspot, because after you consumer 50GB in a single billing cycle your data will be de-prioratized. You will still get LTE tethering, but the speed of it won't be fast, because the phone itself, even without tethered connection, will be slowed down until next billing cycle start. For the same reasons the suggestion of next poster to use a tethering app like PDANet or EasyTether Pro will only work for the first 50GB consumed. After that your tethered devices will get slow speeds, because the hotspot source itself will be deprioratized on T-Mobile network.
"Prefer 3G" doesn't connect to data network - known issue confirmed by mi hotline

I noticed recently that if i select "prefer 3G" from "preferred network type" then the data connectivity is lost. I use airtel network in Bangalore where 4g is good however in my native, 4g network is not that great and in my previous phone it uses hsdpa (3g) most of the times.
I called up the MI India hotline to check if my poco phone is having this isolated issue since i didn't see anyone else complaining. The customer care executive confirmed that it's a known issue and they are working on it. Could other poco phone users confirm that they see the issue?

3g problem
I've been using xiaomi for 2 years. Most of the phones have 3g problems. There is no connection with H + icon. It's not 10 minutes. If you turn off the mobile data or plane mode, it comes on. Mi4, mi5, mi6, redmi note 4, redmi 5 plus, all MIUI version and android 6-7-8. I've seen problems with these devices and versions. It only happens when you connect with 3g. or 3g preferential. an annoying problem.

I have quite a lot of problems with this phone.
1. As of now the 4g/LTE is not working too. This happened 2 weeks earlier as well. The service center guys updated the phone to latest and did factory reset. Then it started working. Now again today the 4g/LTE data not working. The phone is on latest software and i even did a factory reset still not working.
2. Many times people told me that my phone is not reachable. During those times even outgoing calls were not happening until i switch to 2g manually.
3. As mentioned already data does not work on 3g.
I had so much expectations on this phone. But now disappointed.

I haven't had troubles, but I don't use data a lot.
I have the Prefer 3G setting enabled.
hmm i have issues on mine 3g sim data card as well . need to on/off mobile data from time to time
