If anyone needs a stock nandroid image (with root),
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YWQJRO90
There is no need to flash this unless you messed up or just want to go back to stock (with root).
instructions:
DO NOT install it as update.zip . you are supposed to unzip the file after you download it and place the folder called 2010-09-21.18.31.12 in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup then you boot into cwm and goto backup and restore -> restore -> 2010-09-21.18.31.12
what is this nandroid ? stock image ? i mean im new to android and i keep seeing nandroid but im not sure what it does
+1 thanks easier then using oden

Nandroid makes a complete backup of your phone, all your data, apps, everything. It's like it takes a snapshot of your phone, and when you restore it your phone will be back to the exact state of when you made the backup.
The image i posted will take your phone back to what it was like when you pulled it out of the package, except with root. In order to use nandroid, you have to flash the cwm kernel and install the recovery for your phone through rom manager.

yeah, you will have to put the information for your gmail account back in, restore anything from titanium. It's completely stock, it has no user infomation on it.

Ok, so I am getting my Fascinate tomorrow (can't wait by the way). I have been cruising the forums doing my research before I attempt to root, flash CWM recovery, etc. I am completely unfamiliar with with using Odin, but have used nandroid via Amon's recovery on my Droid Eris (which is running Froyo by the way).
Here's my question: how do I apply this image? Do I have to be rooted first, or can I go ahead and apply this zip and never have to fool with Oden? I just want to be sure I don't make a mistake. Eris development was firmly established by the time I arrived on the scene, so I have not had to worry about these kinds of things. Sorry if this seems like a noob question?

nope, the update is not compatible with root right now. Wait for a dev to release the root friendly vzw update.

I really appreciate the prompt response. I think I am going to wait until a dev develops a root friendly vzw update. Or I may go ahead and root and wait till then ..... decisions, decisions
I saw where you posted that some Sticky topics need to be compiled, wasupwithuman. I could not agree more. A couple more questions for you (maybe these will help someone else too) .... (1) How stable is CWM on the Fascinate? I read somewhere that it is a duct-taped together recovery that will do for now. Is this true??? (2) Should I just wait for a dev to develop a custom recovery (like Amon's on the Eris), or is CWM stable enough as it currently is? There seems to be some confusion about this from topic to topic. (3) This is unrelated, but has anyone confirmed Wireless Tether working on their Fascinate. I believe I read that it was somewhere else, but would like to know for sure. Thanks again!!!
P.S. - First link is down, but I found another guide on XDA and will probably just follow it (considering it uses adb which I am familiar with from my Eris).
Would appreciate any recommendations of a good backup & restore app to make a factory reset as painless as possible. Please let me know what will not be backed up so I can do this separately. Is Kies a good option?
Reason I want to reset is cause my phone has become slow & laggy, especially gmail, and read that some of the recent firmware updates may cause this & a reset can help, so thought I'd give it a try.
It's an international s3, not locked to any carrier and all stock firmware.
Thanks.

Well I guess I've turned into that guy too...
I have a Verizon LG Optimus Exceed 2 (VS450PP) with some form of CWM recovery installed (I used a LG L70 ms323 version).
For some reason, recovery still boots into stock recovery, but when I chose the factory reset, I see a CWM logo for a fraction of a second..
I tried flashing Cyanogenmod 11, but stupid me, I didn't check if the boot.img was locked. (shoulda Bump'd it!).
Now I get a security error when booting, and recovery isn't working properly either.
I've searched high and low for the KDZ/TOT/DLL files for this phone and haven't found any yet, so I'm turning this over to you guys at XDA for help.
Please Help!
Thanks!

I'm having an awful time getting the w5c_twrp_bumped.img to actually do a backup on the Exceed 2. Worked like a dream on my Realm. I posted my dilemma a little further down the thread. Hopefully someone can come up with an answer...
Edit: Fixed the partition list in the recovery and it now works on the VS450PP in addition to the LS620. See post #33 in the thread linked above if interested.

Still possible by bumping a modified boot.img, but a debloated stock ROM is likely the most you will ever see. I had been working on one, but my time has been so very limited of late. Unfortunately, there's lot much love for sub $100 devices in the development community these days, and I don't possess the skill set for AOSP development myself (yet).
If you (or anyone) has the time to freeze some of the crap on an active one of these without breaking things, I'd love to hear about it. I could then create a debloated, deodexed, zip-aligned one to flash in TWRP.

This is one of those cheap phones that would benefit from love and support. Some things it does better than my GS3. I used Romtoolbox to delete non-system apps. Email, gmail, some google apps. Kept some verizon crap just in case. Not sure if safe to delete google talkback. Probably safe (http://www.androidcentral.com/what-google-talk-back). Possibly a few more apps/services can be deleted i can't think of right now. I have ~180MB free space with GPS and some other apps installed. 32GB SD FAT formatted for media, downloads, some gps maps. Never had luck with link2sd, don't want to swap internal<>external storage.
I was uninstalling apps with romtoolbox and accidentally deleted a home theme. Now the home screen blinks. Is there a way to flash stock? Rooted, TWRP installed. I used to do it with older LG phones but can't remember how i did emergency recovery.

Boot to your TWRP recovery and restore your latest working backup?
Pull Battery out
Put Battery back in
Hold Volume Down and Power until a white screen comes up
You should get 4 options
Use Volume Down to select Wipe Cache
Press Power Button
It should then go into TWRP
If you don't have a backup you can return to complete stock (wipes the phone) via the links in my posting over here.

I've done accidental deletions with older phones but this time was different. I deleted my home screen theme while debloating. There's no LG emergency recovery tool, no KDZ on lg site. I dl elsewere and another custom lg tool from a forum. I could access settings and selected a new home screen theme. No need for recovery. I figured i can always dl a custom theme. Installed Nova launcher. Everything is good. I'll bookmark this page in case i screw up again. Thanks.

Never use setup a as new device or you wont be able to pull anything down afterwards. I remember reading it on a google thing once that only when you setup the phone it has to be installed from the google Backup. In saying that i did setup via Phone clone which was useless and when that finished it did ask me if i wanted to install from Google Backup. All other phones I've used only let you do it once.

No not at all, I had an S8+ as my last phone. Cracked my screen and had to get it replaced, i used my old S5 while it got fixed and also Motorola Maxx. The thing i did find out was when i used my Moto (Kitkat) it didn't find the S8+ backup. Same thing with the S5 it only showed me the Moto back up. But when i got my S8+ back it had the Moto, S5 the old S8+ Backup. When i got my Mate 20 Pro it showed me 2 x S8+backups, S5 and Moto backup. E.g S8+ 28 oct backup and also 9 Nov Backup.
So you should have the old back up still there. The only thing i found was that if you have older version of Android you can't use newer version to pull backups from.
Hope this helps.

Yes sorry mind fart. Old Phone Android 8 backup -> Android 8 or 9 will see it and ask if you want that one but you can't see Android 8 Backups on Android 7 Phone.
Still it's so strange that you can't restore only wifis from some tool
The only way i found was with droidkit, a program only available for computer. The second solution is reseting the phone and recover the old backup, but first backup your current data.

You need to unroot, and also make sure you have the reserve.img partition restored. If you unlocked the bootloader after the .27 OTA, reserve.img is deleted during unlock.

It's very simple, and the script does most of the work. All you have to do is hit Enter a few times, and let it run.
Back up your data to be safe, and worse case scenario, there is an MSM tool available that will restore the phone to stock.

Use Google Drive backup, but you should first temporarily turn off your password/fingerprint authentication. That's the only way to ensure a complete backup is run. That's been an issue with Google device backup as a whole since 9.0 began enforcing encryption on backups.
You can turn it back on as soon as the backup completes.
One thing I've noticed already on this update is idle battery drain with 5G enabled (connected or not) has improved dramatically.
I would suggest that anyone who re-roots after makes sure to use a freshly patched kernel pulled after the update.
