Searching for a Nougat ROM - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

I have the EUI version of the X820 of banggood and it's trash, it eats minimum 2gb of ram and has many restarts so i am searching for a Nougat ROM with no bugs, or the minus possible at least, i need the IR, the camera and GPS to work properly, if it improves the battery lifetime it would be appreciated. Any recommendation?

Heyyo, I'd recommend OmniROM. Here's a thread where I made two big posts as to why

What is "the best" stock/ custom rom for Le Max 2 X829?

Hi all,
I have the X829 since some days, have TWRP installed, had some problems because I wiped the whole phone, rescued it with Cuoco Fastboot...
So, by having these troubles, I discovered there are a lot of roms for Le Max 2.
Therewhile, I am curious what " the best " rom is, why and where to download...
Every ROM has it's ups and downs the EUI roms for example are running on android 6.0, have a great battery life, are a little hard to get used to... Meanwhile the Nougat ROMS like ResurrectionRemix, LineageOS, Cuoco, Hexagon... are often updated, but they contain a few buggs ex.: Camera trouble, Volte, Speakerphone noise, camera flash... If you're a performance nut and just want to get huge antutu scores then I'd suggest you go with RR,LOS.

Hey hey, I want the best performance for use, not for some benchmark / antutu scores...
Then if you're comfortable using EUI I would definitely recommend small EUI by Auriel or Cuoco92's ROM.
Heyyo, hmm depends on your definition of best heh.
For staying up to date? Nougat ROMs have that but are also the least stable and not all features work properly for everyone (ie, VoLTE, Bluetooth, audio and camera issues. Vulkan also doesn't work).
If you like ASOP for a pure Android experience similar to Nexus and Pixel? Dark Unicorn or Pure Nexus Project are the two best choices for that with Pure Nexus Project being the closer to stock Android. Both should only be flashed with DU Bean Gapps and not OpenGapps.
If you want the most customized? Resurrection Remix is great for that but it has some major changes to doze so notifications do take a back seat when in doze mode. OpenGapps is recommended for this ROM.
If you want the most stable with all current features working? Stick with a Marshmallow based ROM like Mokee MM historical. RR has a MM build but I've read some people having issues with it so I'd probably avoid it for now.
I would recommend Linage it's bar the smoothest, few small bugs and not as customizable as Resurrection Remix.

I actually prefer LineageOS to RR, only because of the launcher and the icons look nicer xD
If you need working ViLTE and VoWLAN then NA 16s is probably still the best option for now. Custom roms are still working on getting that working. However it has effectively disabled notifications so you would need to go into the secret menu and turn it back on.
The one that works is the best one!
Cuoco92.

I've tried many custom ROMs since I have this phone. The Nougat ROMs are pretty fun to use, they have a lot of features that make this devices a bit more enjoyable, they have many bugs that make you throw your phone away though.
Marshmallow ROMs are much more stable and fully functionals, especially the EUI ones. According to my experiences, Cuoco's EUI is one of the best that is available for this device. Which is also my daily driver and I'm very pleased with it.

Could you please tell me how the camera goes on the Cuoco ROM? Slow motion is working? And what about 360º Panorama on the Google Camera, does it come out of focus?
Thanks!
Heyyo, tbh I'd recommend Marshmallow Mokee as the most stable ROM with LineageOS Marshmallow coming second. EUI for me has always been a little too harsh on app killing plus the user interface drives me nuts.

Heyyo, RR for the Le Max 2 is supported by Andr68rus here on the XDA forums. He maintains the port of RR and it's very customizable and has lots of tweaks for sure, but this thread asked about the most stable ROM which it is not. MM build some people reported issues with audio problems or front facing camera problems in some apps but MM was discontinued.
RR Nougat definitely has lots of work to be done but it has been coming along really nicely but battery life as even andr68rus has stated isn't very good currently on RR N but the ports he maintains based on ASOP don't suffer those same issues. Some people reporting quick charging also not working for them on RR N.
So yes, currently I'd also say RR N is the most popular ROM for the Le Max 2 as it tends to get lots of updates and tweaks but it's not the stablest ROM I've used up to this day.

so, you said, Mokee MM is stable rom for Lemax2 ? any bug you found in that rom ? I will try tomorrow, i need stable rom for work long time before EUI nougat release (maybe they never release )
Okay, so here is my list with the bugs I've found so far in the ROMs you mentioned above.
- Mokee 6.0: the sound quality is not as good as in EUI ones, too loud even at low volume settings and awful in voip. Panorama picture is blured, couldn't make it work. Battery life is lower comparing to EUI's.
The non-EUI based ROMs share the same bugs (although the sound issue supposed to be solved in the latest AOKP marshmallow, I haven't checked it yet)
- RR Nougat: everything above + camera is bad in general. Most of camera features such as slow motion, 4K recording etc. are not working. The IDLE battery drain is way higher than in MM ROMs. (Google Camera HDR+ only worked with darkobas kernel for me, but I could use slow motion, panorama mode, everything).
- Cuoco 92: everything is working, haven't found any bugs. Camera is fully functional, it's the stock apk. Battery life is good, 5 and a half hour SOT with games. Memory Management could be better.
I'm using it on X822, so it's supposed to work on every type of LeMax2.
I recommend you to test those ROMs that are available for this device, and use them for a while. You might discover other issues, or maybe you don't experience the problems that I have, who knows.
With cuoco the google play services crash. Very annoying.

Which is best rom ?

Hello all, I am creating this thread for choosing the best rom.
just name rom which has best battery life, performance and stable.
i have tried eui 26s by crisbalgreece, it is stock customised with many good features, good battery (<6 hrs SOT for me).
RR nougat, it has many great features and good performance too but battery drains very fast
please tell me about mokee (SOT, VOLTE, etc), AOKP, SLIM,etc

Heyyo, Battery life on stock? It's because of the super aggressive memory management. It kills apps like crazy. You could easily use Kernel Adiutor on a Nougat ROM to set up the memory clearing to do the same and get better battery life albeit notifications for said app will potentially take a hit. For me? Outlook email app never gave me notifications unless I opened the app.
Hi,
I didn't find any links available for 26s by crisbalgreece.
do you have ones ?
Best Nougat rom is imho is Slim , go try it...
I tried some custom roms and they was buggy. Then I installed stock Indian rom and it works good for me.

Best Non-EUI based rom? (ie most stable)

Hello everyone!
I've been on smallEUI for a while, and I've decided that it's not worth it to keep anymore. SOT is inconsistent, there are small bugs here and there, and some major that begin to appear after a while.
I've been looking at Mokee and Ressurection Remix (sadly, author has stopped development of a buggy nougat version and moved to oreo)
I'm not looking for spectacular SOT that will blow me away. 4-5 hours is enough for me.
Stability is a huge must for me, i use my phone everyday and I need to be able to depend on it. EUI ROMs have aggressive RAM management (I have the 6gb RAM version and EUI treats it as if I only have 2gb, removing apps from RAM like my launcher). I need basic features like VoLTE and Bluetooth to work without fail.
I don't really care about safetynet, so I'm fine without that.
EDIT: I'm a fool, I said OmniROM instead of Slim. Sorry about that.
Thanks!
EDIT
Alright, I've actually installed Slim. Its superior to SmallEUI in almost every way.
Camera is almost as good as stock, no noticable difference.
Battery life is much more consistant (Expect 4 h 30m of SOT with mixed usage.)
No more crappy EUI RAM management (Its really bad, it treats 6GB of RAM like its 512MB of ram, killling any background processes, including your launcher, forcing frequent redraws)
Slim handles thermals MUCH BETTER than EUI. Way better!
Noticably faster UI, and smoother sustained performance under heavy load.
Nougat!
VoLTE works on T-Mobile US.
Fingerprint sensor works perfectly, and works faster in Slim than EUI, and more accuratly too!
Bug free so far.
And OTA updates!
This is hands down the most stable experience I've seen so far.
Better than Lineage, better than Mokee, and SmallEUI.
Go for this ROM, you won't regret it.

Hi I'm currently using MOKEE and it's actually pretty stable. I haven't found any bugs at all but I'm not sure if VoLTE works and if you download it there will be almost everyday update but you don't have to download them because they don't change anything for our device

I just haven't come across it but I don't have any problem SOT but I'm not a lot on my phone so I can't say a lot.
I’m in a similar position as you are. Using LOS 14. It’s been really stable. Best ROM i’ve used so far for the Le max 2. Small eui was a buggy mess when I used it. RR was good at first, but more bugs made me switch. Happily using LOS as a daily driver now.

How is Lineage os in general?
Does gps work fine?
Fingerprint scanner can be fixed easily with a firmware update, so I don't mind that.
How is SOT?
Does camera quality match EUI?
Thanks!
Los if probably my favourite flavour android. RR has more options, though seems slower and more prone to issues (in my experience).
Camera is great. I've installed the Google hdr released camera app though, it's excellent.
Not too sure about sot sorry. Phone is usually around 20% when I finish the day. That's from 6am till say 10pm. I'd say average use for anyone that's on XDA.
This phone has never had good battery for me, except for small eui. But that was at the expense of an unusable rom with no SMS or push notifications working.
Finger print works perfectly.
Heyyo, for most stable? I'd say OmniROM 7 or LineageOS 14.1. They tend to not get the newest changes right away which is good for stability.
OmniROM is unique in the sense that it actually gets certified official builds signed by Google so they do come with SafetyNet Certification. It's the only custom ROM for the LeEco Le Max 2 that gets that.
Hopefully once GalacticSryder receives his Le Max 2 he can get his Mach LeEco kernel working for it and get official signed builds of Paranoid Android as that is the only other ROM that I know of that gets Google signed builds. Tbh I'm really stoked for this as I failed to port his Mach LeEco kernel haha.
Oh, if you plan on using MultiROM? OmniROM play store certification only works if you install it as the internal ROM and not secondary ROM as it mounts the system as writeable. You'd then need to do Magisk plus Universal SafetyNet fix module to spoof the Play Store.
The only downside to OmniROM is Andr68rus has moved onto Oreo development so it probably won't get Le Max 2 specific upgrades but thus far from my testing all Le Max 2 bugs have been squashed much like LineageOS 14.1.
If you want better screen on time with OmniROM or LOS? You can always root with Magisk and then install the AKT Profiles App and use something like Project X.A.N.A. balanced or battery.
If screen on time is your goal though? Slimroms I'd say currently has the best balance of screen on time and performance.
Anywho? Lots to choose from and there isn't really a wrong answer except for say the AOKP or other discontinued ROMs.

Sorry for the late reply.
So, I'm deciding between Lineage and Omnirom right now. Are there are basic features that differ between the two ROMs? Like included customization options or small tweaks that give the ROM it's unique personality?
It's amazing to see that a relatively not that known device has such a large and dedicated community to support it even when the company is going down under.
Thanks!

LineageOS has weekly build updates so it does still receive the Google Monthly Security updates which is nice. It also has a lot more customization options than OmniROM
OmniROM as I mentioned is the only custom ROM for the Le Max 2 with official SafetyNet certification as a main feature. I've also noticed because of it that it's the only ROM I know of where fingerprint unlocking works with stuff like my RBC banking app.
OmniROM tends to not get as many flashy features as LineageOS but it has a few unique ones built into it such as OmniSwitch which is an alternative to the recent apps screen where it slides a small panel from the side of the screen and has the same functionality as recent apps but without the need of exiting your current app.
There's also their open source clock app as another example.
For Le Max 2 specifics? OmniROM has Dolby Atmos built into it for better sound quality and also the LeEco infrared app for using the IR blaster built into this phone so both work out of the box without the need of flashing Magisk Modules or anything like that.

Thank you!
I will be installing Lineage OS and try it out!
Actually pulled a switcharoo at the last moment. I decided to go with Slim instead of Lineage because Lineage doesn't have VoLTE, and users report various problems with Lineage.
If anyone here is deciding on what to install, go for Slim.
Safetynet+Magisk passes safteynet, and everything is very fast.
UI and interface is really smooth, phone tempratures are much better than stock EUI, and SmallEUI
If gaming performance is your thing, expect a 20-30% increase in FPS than EUI based ROMS.
Battery life is a bit worse than EUI, but its consistent. In SmallEUI SOT would vary from almost 6 hours to as little as 1 hour and 30 minutes. Slim has a consistant 4 hour 30 min with mixed usage (Reddit, Gaming, and YouTube).
And best of all, no more annoying EUI RAM management! I have 6GB of RAM in my phone! Stop treating it like its 512MB and killing all background apps! It even killed Nova Launcher occasionally!
Slim is amazing. Simply amazing. I'm glad I made the switch now, and not later. I love it.
EDIT: I'm a fool, I said Omni instead of Slim. Sorry about that everyone.
Yep, tried them all and Omni's the best. Was worried that I'd miss functionality from EUI but everything actually works better. There's no reason at all to stick with stock roms. Do you know does Vulkan work with Omni?

Any custom stable rom for LeMax2 with everything working and decent performance?

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to ask if anyone knows of a good quality custom rom for the LeMax 2 that has everything working for daily use?
I have tried Resurrection Remix, Lineage, & Small EUI all myself and each seemed to have a different bug without a known fix.
Here is what I found as far as bugs still existing with latest releases of these roms:
Resurrection Remix - Camera apps all crash constantly
Lineage - Camera takes pictures off centered when zoomed
Small EUI by aurel - GPS is bad - takes many minutes for a lock, often can not lock in clear conditions
All of the above are good quality custom roms generally, and I have no issue with them other then whats listed. My thanks to their developers.
Alas these issues are all mentioned on the forums without any known fixes so I am in search of a new rom, and I just wanted to reach out for any suggestions of any good custom roms with everything working to try next. I would love it to try Oreo, but from what I have read it didn't seem like any of the roms are fully working yet, but if you know if one please let me know! If not Nouget is fine.. any suggestions are appreciated.
The camera, sadly, has been a sticking point for almost every ROM published here that uses an Android 7 or 8 code base. I've personally not had a terrible experience with LOS 14; the camera seems to work, stability is pretty good, and the battery life, while not fantastic, is hardly the worst.
Try pixel experience by shivateja
I am using since first release
V. Very good rom
After trying a lot of ROMS i will definitly stay with slim7. There is everything working fine! Fingerprint, camera, battery - damn! Love it
Offcenter issue is fixed in newest android oreo 8.1 roms.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
