Android Nougat to the Xperia M4, M5, C4, C5 - Sony Xperia C4 Guides, News, & Discussion

We request that the devices like the Xperia M4 Aqua, M5, C4, C5 obtain the update of android Nougat o Oreo , in the first they have a software quite capable to move it to perfection, it has important characteristics like its cameras and its resistance to dust and water, such is the case of the xperia m4 and m5 or highlight the cameras with flash frontal soft as is the case of xperia C4, C5. I think that Sony should support more the mid-range with respect to updates and not just focus on their top-of-the-range devices, it also does not have a lot of antiquity time as other devices of this brand which can still be added to the list devices that will receive Android 7.0 and not to the list of forgotten devices.
I hope users of this device sign the petition. THANK YOU

Android Lollipop (14.5.A.0.242) certified for Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Z1 Compact

Looks like owners of the Sony Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra will be joining the Android Lollipop family shortly. New firmware with build number 14.5.A.0.242 has just been certified for all variants of the above handsets with the strong likelihood of this being Lollipop.
Sony said that other variants of the Xperia Z series would start to see the update in around two weeks. This was last week, so potentially we could see Lollipop rolling for the Xperia Z1 series and Z Ultra by the end of this month. We’ll keep you posted on further developments.*

Sony kills the entire Z series. I think it's a stupid move

While we were waiting endlessly for the second iteration of Z Ultra which never happened, Sony has apparently decided to shut the whole Z series down:

http://www.xperiblog.com/2016/02/xperia-z-series-is-dead-officially.html
This is the official statement from a Sony rep:
“The Xperia Z line has reached its culmination – Xperia X series represents a new chapter and evolution of our product strategy. Whilst the Xperia Z series was all about bringing the best of Sony’s advanced technologies to smartphones, Xperia X series is based on bringing smart, adaptive Sony user experiences across camera, battery performance and hardware / software design.”
To me, this is a grudging acceptance by Sony that they could not compete in the flagship segment of the competitive smartphone market. While Sony's Xperia Z series were fine devices, they could never reach the sales levels of Samsung's Galaxy S series or LG's G series. The Xperia X series will probably be cheaper devices but then, Samsung on the one hand and the plethora of Chinese makers on the other have already flooded those segments with all kinds of phones at all price points.
Sorry Sony, this is all but your fault. In today's environment, a fine phone with a few defects here and there will not simply cut it.
Life goes on.
I hope they will be smarter with X series and won't go with 6 month update cycle. Also, X Ultra, I'd want that.
Is there any info about support or is it open season for custom programing ?
the X Performance is the only one in the new line-up which I would vaguely consider, if there was an Ultra version of it.
I have resigned myself that a Huawei Mate 8 might be the successor to my XZU.

it s look like all xperia x phones has same screen size .. and there s no phab versions and compact.. if this is true it is really stupid move

Xperia M series is No more!!

A few days ago we have been informed that Xperia Z series replaced with New Xperia "X" series. Now Sony confirmed Xperia M series and Xperia C series is No more. Xperia X will be the mainstay for Sony.
From Xperiablog:
Word coming out from the Asian tech media is that not only has Sony ended the Xperia Z series, apparently the Xperia C and Xperia M series have also been cancelled. This means that Sony may exclusively use the Xperia X as a single brand to push all future handsets. This would tie in with our recent report that the rumoured ‘Xperia C6 Ultra’ may in fact arrive as the ‘Xperia X Ultra’.
Sony Mobile presentations appear to show that the Xperia X series marks Sony’s ‘Chapter 3’. Chapter 1 was between 2010-12 and was about the “open OS for web communication”, with the key highlight being the Sony Android phone that started it all – the Xperia X10. Chapter 2 took place between 2013-15 and was about the “best of Sony” highlighted by the Xperia Z series.
Now chapter 3 will take place between 2016-18 and marks “Xperia for new communication”. This is marked by ‘Xperia X’ as a new visual identity for Sony’s brand communication. The new ‘X’ logo will be used in all promotional print and TV advertising.
To be clear to readers, there will be no compromise in Sony creating a flagship phone. So just because there is no Xperia Z series, future flagship phones will carry on via the Xperia X range, with no compromise in specifications. Obviously what remains to be seen is how Sony will cleanly name all of the various handsets under just one brand, especially if Sony plans to use this over three years. But we’re sure Sony has thought of that…

Yes they should focus on few devices rather then releasing lots of them...

Yes, I feel this is a great decision by Sony, focusing on a few products is much better than focusing more. They are keeping also mid-range as well as flagship products within the X series. So it won't be a problem for the buyers. Policy looks similar with iPhone.
Sony is no more for me if my M4 has had his time or if i can trade it in. For Sony's sake and all future costumers i hope the get there software updates sorted with this new approach.
Sony does the right thing
Unfortunately, SONY will not take too much of the M series, and that all users know. So it is better to have few terminals in a single series, but has better support.

This is it, Marshmallow is final rom for us

As you know Google recently released Android 7.0 update to Nexus devices and Sony released list of what devices will receive update http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2016/08/23/sony-xperia-and-android-7-0-nougat/ Only Z and X line will be getting it. Sony abondoned it's M4 and M5 devices that recently turned 1 year old. Our only hope now is Custom Rom devs. What do you think about this move from Sony ?
I think,it's only "first wave" of updates,in future we can see Nougat. But I don't sure, that this is right)))

It's unlikely that it will be in waves. It's sony after all slow ass oem who has close to stock android yet takes more time to update than Samsung, Lg
To be fair, I'm more surprised we got Marshmallow in the first place. Nougat was very, very unlikely.
However, Marshmallow created so many issues on my phone, this is the first time ever where I've had to downgrade to Lollipop.
If Sony did bring Nougat, they'd mess it up somehow. But I regret getting this phone and will probably cross Sony off the list of OEMs to purchase from.
M4 and M5 are midrange devices we can't expect more than Marshmallow..
There is no xperia e5 on the list, which is a 2016 phone, so it is probably just a list that will be updated soon.

Unless Sony is trying to be the Apple of android and cutting out their midrange phones
i'm pretty sure this is our last rom, and i don't think there will be a new custom rom either since the dev are became quite now (it just my opiniop tho..)
hope we get a method to root our Xperia M4 Aqua on MM 6.0 without unlocking boot loader ...... :fingers-crossed:
IF and it's a big IF - we get 7.0 N it will probably be after they release 8.0 X on other xperia devices just like it happened to 6.0 MM

I don't think we will get nougat either, as there are there are reports for Qualcomm not supporting snapdragon 810, so no Vulkan API drivers for the z3. Snapdragon 615 (our phone) was in the 810 lineup, so it probably won't get the drivers either. So PROBABLY no nougat.
it is snapdragon 801 and not 810

Qualcomm and Google won't support Snapdragon 801 and not Snapdragon 810 ( Xperia Z5) ... btw Snapdragon 615 is on a host of phones which probably are going to get Nougat update its only that disgusting Sony wont offer any more updates Samsung and LG, Huawei will still support their Snapdragon 615 ( very good chance)
and visit this http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/0...t-24-months-os-updates-current-future-phones/
Huawei has promised 24 months of updates for all its devices going forward 2016 onwards Honor 5X with snapdragon 615 will be getting nougat because unlike Sony Huawei cares about their users
(if) We will get nougat only when android o beta come out, I've been using sony mid range a long time and this pattern was also applied to our phone, at that time our 18 month of update already dead I think
It's not a flagship phone, this isn't Google and it came with 5.0. It was foreseeable that it would die with 6.0.1 (officially anyway, but seeing that there's hardly any development, it's really unlikely we will get a nougat rom)
M4 aqua is a mid-range device and as such only gets update support for 18mths it was never gonna get N in the first place z3 and m5 also don't use dm-verity security which all new Xperia devices have. People are slating Sony for dropping the z3 that's had two years of update support and two big os updates when it's actually qualcomm dropping support not Sony
Sent from my Xperia XA using XDA Labs

Oh right, it was the 800 series ?

Xperia XZ1 camera improvement, Android 9

Hello, I am not a programer but
Since Xperia XZ1 is not supported by Sony and it was added to xperia Open Devices, I was wondering if someone developed some "camera systen improvement". I think that camera sensor is good, but camera system and processing is not as good as it could be. I really believe that with beter system it could be comparable with nowdays phones.
So have any developer dealt with this issue ?
