I've been noticing that 4G throughput in various contexts is pretty mediocre. With 1-2 bars, it might as well be no service. 3 bars is okay, 4 is good, and 5 bars... I don't remember seeing 5 bars.
I'd say I pull downloads of about 22-25 Mbps and uploads from 1.5 to 3.5 with at least 3 bars.
With 1-2 bars, speeds drop immensely. Downloads drop to 0.4 to 1.3 Mbps and uploads hover around 1.0 Mbps.
I had much better results on my Droid Turbo--but can't really test it now to compare. It just seemed much more robust in poor signal areas, buffered music and video significantly less --so it was not noticeable.
The V30 seems to be buffering all the time. I can barely stream google play stations with mobile network streaming quality set to "high" (not "always high"). It will play 10 seconds and buffer, then keep doing it until signal improves or I toss the phone out the window.
Wifi reception seems equally wimpy whether I'm on a G, N, or AC network compared to my Turbo. When I'm in the same room as the router, I have no issues with speed.
I'm using Ookla's speedtest app.
Curious what others of you on Verizon with a V30 are seeing.
I'm reading this from a location where I typically had poor reception on my Droid Turbo, lots of Pandora interruptions and extremely slow web page loading, and the V30 is 1 to 2 bars 4G but rock sold performance. No speed test, but not sensing an issue like I had been.
So doing side by side my new LgV30 vs my old Nexus 6P. Wifi only since the 6P is no longer on service. The Nexus is faster, not significantly but it is faster. 6P 4.02 d/4.09 u LG 2.72 D/3.88 up. Both with 5ms ping. I've run the test several times and the 6P wins every time.
Here's one I took yesterday... note the signal bars.
At what point do I visit the verizon store and cry about it?

I noticed today that my WIFI was exceptionally slow on my device. Being 4 feet away from my wireless router, i was getting 1-5 mbps speed..
my router has a function that lists connected wifi devices and the assumed connection speed.. it said my Transformer was connected at 58mbps.. so something was fishy
Everything was exceptionally slow, even browsing. after a simple full shutdown and startup it was back to normal. maybe this is the wifi bug some people were having? anyways, a restart made it exceptionally better
anyone else come across this?
Haven't seen this yet but it does sound like your unit has a wifi defect. :banghead: I can say the following two things:
1. The operating channel/frequency does seem to make small differences. Probably noise in my environment.
2. Wireless range seems to be short. I'm getting no where as good of range as my iPhone can. I'd say its short by a good 25 feet or so.

well the weird thing, im normally fine. i play was playing spotify (high BW audio) in my driveway (through two walls and total about 50 feet) and was getting great reception.
just had this one issue. weird.
It's not a bug. The 58Mbs is the reported link rate, not the actual throughput. Many people mistake the link rate for bandwidth.
I think some of the lag mentioned (elsewhere) are due to poor wifi connectivity.
Surecall makes a WIMAX amplifier/repeater for Sprint's network that amplifies 70db. This is great for those who have WIMAX in their area, but cant get a strong enough signal indoors.

I never got it b/c it is too much for a dead technology.
Screen shots below. Overall, here is my impression coming from pure stock unrooted .211:
* smoother scrolling, less lag, overall snappier feel.
* significantly less heat coming from my RAZR MAXX when using.
* getting a stronger, more consistent 4g signal... haven't gone into 3g only coverage areas yet, so can't speak to 3g.
* wifi DL/UL speeds appears to be more consistent with less variance in peaks and dips.
* battle life is way up, but that is anecdotal at this point... will post supporting data when I get a few more days use under my belt.
Anyone else have findings to share?

Quick update on battery life, this is with what I consider heavy use (WiFi, BT, Corporate push and Gmail, heavy browsing, watched an episode of Breaking Bad on MX Player, etc.):
Batt Level --> 70% with 9h 30m on Battery
Screen On --> 3h 10m (50% brightness)
Significantly better performance for me over .211.

Edit: 7-16-12, I believe the hand off between 3g/4g and visa versa in .215 is not as seamless as it was with .214. I noticed this using streaming radio.
I'd like to set up a list of known good locations to test 4G LTE around the Metroplex.
If you have a great place to test, please list it here. I'd love to have some verification that I actually have working LTE... I haven't seen hide nor hair of anything over 3G on my phone so far.
Note: Please don't post where LTE isn't working. That's counterproductive to this list. Also realize that at the time of this posting, Sprint is less than 10% complete with the D/FW rollout, so there are a LOT of places that aren't up yet. Finally, please also remember that LTE coverage has been reported as spotty in some locations, so if you get there and don't get LTE, it's not necessarily the end of the world.
Places I've heard have an LTE connection (I haven't verified any of these):
Cedar Hill Best Buy Parking Lot
Dallas: 635 & Garland Rd
Ft Worth: 820 & I-30
Fort Worth: 360 and Trinity
Ft. Worth: Loop 820 and 35W (I got nothing on the S side of town, might be the N side)

There is a tower in downtown arlington with it. I can connect to it in my office but when I go down to the parking lot I am back on 1x or 3G. In my office it comes and goes but god when it goes you are dumped back to 1x or 3G. Nearly unusable data when 4G is not working. No idea specifically where a good place to test it would be though I have not driven around. Like currently my wicked fast 0.01Mbps connection sigh
I've been working in Dallas since Sunday. I can confirm that it works well at 360 and Trinity. Really all around the Centerpoint complex.

Hey everyone, was thinking of buying this phone (snapdragon version) from aliexpress, read the other thread but it didn't answer my questions. I would be upgrading from an i9300 samsung (yeah it's old as heck, but it still works kinda flawlessly (messed up the gsm/3g network antenna)). I understand that performance wise the difference will be night and day, but after looking at a few reviews online i'm starting to wounder about the camera quality. If i compare to the 13mpx camera on the mtk version the photos in average lighting and video in average lighting look worse than those same samples taken on the 8mpx i9300 ones. I take videos a few times a week and i usually take out my phone to shoot photos of some modeling projects (usually parts and combinations of then, less often girls), cars and other stuff i like and want a good amount of detail (at least as much as i can get from my S3).
Also how is the network reception? I'm usually at places where network reception is poor for me (again, f-ed up a bit with my phone).

Any chance you can fit the 4.1Ah li-ion from the redmi 3/ 3 pro? I have had a few times on some other phones where li-po batteries are in use get hot to an unpleasant degree while charging and never had those issues with li-ion's.
My answer is yes it is worth it, for the money you will not find much better. However it is still a budget phone and it has compromises, the camera is good but not the best, low light performance is grainy as you might expect.
However in good light it can capture very nice detail.

I havent tested video yet but there are some nice video demos of this phone on youtube. It is capable of recording in 4k but the frame rate is a bit choppy.
Reception is fine for me, I cant comment how it will be for you if you usually experience poor signals, my area is usually very good.
