Any difference in software?
From GSMarena:
I just got the H962 model. Allow me to compare and contrast it to the H961N:
1.The H962 comes with a charger that has an American plug. The H961N comes with an asian plug and will require a special adapter if you use it in the United States. So the H962 has what you need to charge it right out of the box in the US.
2. The default language on the H962 is in english. The default language on the H961N is some asian language(probably Korean) and so when you boot the H961n up the first time the setup screen wont be in english.
3. The H962 is not tied to any phone carrier. And so it has absolutely zero carrier bloatware apps and it also has absolutely no carrier tramp stamp on it. The H961N is tied to a Korean carrier (LG's Uplus carrier) and so you will see the Uplus stamp on the back of the phone, you will also see it on the boot up screen, and you will see plenty of korean language Uplus bloatware apps that will take an hour to uninstall. The H962 is the pure clean carrier free version and only shows the LG logo on bootup and has the LG logo stamp on the back.
4. The H962 has an fm radio and comes with an fm Radio app installed on it. The H961N also has an fm radio with the radio app.
5. Both the H962 and H961n provide the same band support in the United States. Neither will support 4G in the US.
6. Both H962 and H961N have 64GB internal storage.
So with this, you can see that the H962 is the better variant to have over the H961n. NewEgg.com sells the H962 (they have it incorrectly listed as H961n, but it is actually H962). You can probably find the H962 at other online retailers as well.

Some of the information you have mention are incorrect, the H961N is sold within asian, and hong kong, all hong kong version are unlocked and are not linked to any carrier, and has no bloatware, and it's available in both 32GB and 64GB.
The default language for the N961N is chinese, and I think the H962 is for the taiwan market.

I don't understand why they release two separate unlocked versions for Taiwan and Hong Kong.

There are minor differences in the frequency band, but I agree, they can just add the extra bands in one version instead of have two phone version, or to save all the trouble have one single sim and dual sim phone with all the bands available is much better, but I think it's to keep a record of all the phones distributed within each countries.
so it cant be used in the states for 4g networks?

Certainly not as shipped. Turns out though that the radio chips used appear to be more capable than LG promised. If you root there is then a well known procedure for unlocking extra bands on both the H961N and H962. This is not guaranteed to work, but there aren't many reports of it not working and lots of it working. Once done generally you do get LTE coverage for at least some of the US carriers.
Hi Guys, i wondered if you could help me. Im looking to buy this phone on friday and im from the UK. Im not sure what version to get, ive looked around and ive seen a few on ebay which im a bit unsure about, one was a H960 which from what i understand is the UK phone, but some keep saying H960A? whats the difference for these?
Ive also seen one which has the model number GL-H961N-BK, but not sure if this would do the trick to? i understand it doesnt have the 800mhz band.
Im on EE network and ideally would like to get the H960, but is the one im looking at ok to get? or can you guys link me to the best one for the UK?
H960 link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_o...0.Xlg+v10+h960.TRS0&_nkw=lg+v10+h960&_sacat=0
H961N link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Latest-Mo...id=100005&rk=1&rkt=6&mehot=ag&sd=201521597954
Thanks Guys!
I'm bias towards dual SIM phones. H961N is covering pretty much all your networks, and supports dual sims, so you can have both.

Hi everyone,
I am considering buying a used lg g5 on att network, to use in Europe. Will this phone need to be unlocked to use on a carrier in Europe or will international carrier?
I appreciate the help with this question,
Nick
You will need to unlock it through att, but you won't get updates in Europe
Hi all,
If I buy a second hand "unlocked" H820 variant, can I expect any issues using in the UK (where I live) or Europe on holiday?
Would I be better off sourcing an H850 instead?
Thank you for your help,
Keeko
Hi
Do you have any new experience how does h820 works in EU? Are there any problems with non AT&T carrier? Im considering to buy one h820 too because it much more cheaper than european h850. VoLTE working? Most important for me is LTE band 20 (800Mhz). Thanks
I have bought a H930DS in Denmark. It's parallel import.... from Hong Kong i think.
There is no officiel Europe or Nordic firmware on the LG firmware site for this model.
Is it possible to change region any way?
Right now i don't get VoltE og WiFi calling even though i know my provider supports it.

Yes, you can flash India DS firmware over Hong Kong DS firmware. At least in India, it let those users get VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling by changing the region of their H930DS:

Okay.. I bring good news! You can definitely flash any KDZ as long as the model number is exactly the same. I flashed the HK Reginal kdz on my H930DS from India and I now have working VoLTE and VoWiFi.
In short, get the CORRECT kdz of the desired region for your model number, use LGUP, Upgrade option, and let it do its thing. Simple. This keeps the device official and under warranty.
PS - Please backup all data before doing this. Even though it is just an upgrade, play it safe. Just in case!

If you're still within 14 day return period I suggest you do that and get the H930 version.
Here you can get it for 598 EUR (including shipping to Denmark) which is ~4500 DKK so 25% cheaper than you can get it locally.
Warranty?

Hi,
I am planning to get a V30+ H930DS via import from HK to India. I am concerned about the warranty cover. If in case my device misbehaves or I drop it and break the glass build, then will LG India (from my home country) cover it under warranty or will I need to get it serviced from LG HK?

I would guess Hong Kong, just to dissuade you from doing that. If you live in India, they probably want you to buy Indian variant.
Is the H930DS a lot less expensive in Hong Kong than India? I know the regular V30+ was very underpriced at launch in India.

I came across an offer at www.mobizkart.com where the cost of H930DS is roughly 25k INR whereas in India it is 45k INR. Quite tempted. But my concern is the warranty. Also, the device comes with B&O headphones as well. Unsure of what should I do.

Tried it now, but unfortunately it does not result in working VoltE in Denmark. I guess the regional firmware versions contain specific carrier information needed to get VoltE in the region.
Not sure about Denmark, sorry, but in France and in UK (if I believe some british contributors), even if your smartphone (that's not LG related) and firmware supports VoltE, you won't get VoltE.
It will only work with a compatible device with your specific carrier firmware/software... Those versions are only sold by carriers, of course. Not sure it's the case in Denmark, though...
I have installed the latest european Oreo firmware for H930 on my H930DS. Its possible if you want Oreo.

Yeah, a couple of days ago we found out all H930DS can flash the open market European H930 Oreo KDZ. Amazing.
Did anyone actually manage to flash it on the H930D variant (UAE)?
I need my phone functioning in the next week or so, so I'm unable to experiment right now.
Can you tell me if installing this on my H930DS would compromise dual sim functionality? Thanks.

Depends on how you are using the dual SIM. Are you using to get calls on one, but data off the other or calls on both?

I can't vouch for anything with the G6, you'll have to take that risk. I was answering for the H930DS vs H930 for just one SIM. Many people don't even use the 2nd SIM card anyway and the first one works fine on H930.
For those that need both SIM cards, they can flash the newer Hong Kong H930DS Oreo KDZ.
Flashing out of region KDZ may prevent VoLTE from working. India users in particular seem to have that problem. Most people don't NEED VoLTE (on GSM/HSPA/LTE carriers) but Jio carrier in India is different. All they have are LTE bands.

Hi, still waiting for my H930DS to play with...
Checking the link in #13, am I correct that the update kdz for these LG phones is one file for single and dual sim?
I think I have been reading these threads wrong
Coming from HTC, they were 2 completely seperate update files and a big no-no to try to flash the wrong one on the wrong phone.
