Hi,
I unlocked bootloader of my Xperia X without save TA partition, and I installed concept rom but i want to go back to stock rom(with magisk if possible) how can i do ?
Please help
Just flash stock rom and search for root in this forum, and that's all.
I think that is somewhere the drm keys fix also for this phone, I'm not sure

I looked in sony forum here and they say you have to relock bootloader (but flash stock kernel first and I don't know where you can get the stock kernel to download) to update via pc companion or update service
So just look around for the untweaked stock kernel or make a new thread where you are searching for it

download the ftf file of the stock rom and using this thread to extract ftf files you can get kernel.sin which can be flashed.
Am I right?

I don't know exactly.
But if it's like this, you needn't extract it. Just open flashtool and click on the flash -> flashmode -> and there you can exclude all files like system etc and just kernel is unmarked, so it will flash only the kernel...
Just flash stock kernel again, then download stock firmware and flash it via Flashtool
flash ftf on Flashtool
confusion as a simple thing to download your official Stock ROM file in ftf format. After applying via FlashTool in modol FlashBoot only that. Kernel Standard ja is automatically installed and all its default settings.
: Rir:
People, people...why post when you don't know what you're talking about??. The reason stock ftf gets flashed is because it already contains stock kernel!! duh!
About unlocked bl, you only need to relock it if you plan on updating through pcseus, which isn't vital since you can flash any firmware from downloaded ftf, aside from that there are no other pros or cons to unlocked bl
now its all done, just updated wit pc companion, worked well. but now i need to root my device to use titanium backup.
is the latest version of android are possible to root?
Flash any rooted kernel, people have reported extended and mesa to be working fine. (if bootloader is unlocked)
Otherwise this method is also reported to be working. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26914104#post26914104
grazie
Download official stock firmware from Sony site and flash it via flashtool.. Now to relock bootloader. Google the query and you'll get the solution easily...

You need to relock bl, if u used the test point method then u need to start S1 Tool and click Restore button, but if u used the official method, u will need to flash this with flash tool: http://www.mediafire.com/?1ytip94lm2yojjl and then u will be able to update with SE PC

Hi, so the curiosity got the best of me and I rooted my Ultra and flashed PAC MAN Rom, only to find out I acually prefered the stock rom. Noob as I am, I'm not sure now how to proceed in getting it back. I'd like to go back to 14.2.A.1.136 stock rom. How does one go on about that? Is it ok to use flashtool and flash 14.2.A.1.136 "Generic GM" ROM that I found online back in? /I'm in UK, but couldn't find any other european version than GM - Germany/. I'm on Z Ultra C6833, rooted with unlocked boot loader. Thanks for advice!

yep just flash a FTF. Then when that is done flash a kernel with recovery (using flashtool) Jackies one is good, this will allow you to flash SuperSu update from recovery to get root back.

Cool thanks! I've read somewhere that after I unlocked the bootloader there will be no bravia engine not even after flashing the original firmware back again? Is that true? Thanks!

Hi,
It's easy. First flash stock ftf via flashtool.(Check xperia M device forum for ftf file.)
then restore TA partition and voila..done.
EDIT: flashing ftf will wipe out custom rom so don't worry about it.

You can update to 5.1.1 without loosing root when you flash prerooted firmware, but when I tried to do that unfortunately I had to wipe data else the systemui was not working, and Sony backup and restore won't let you restore your old data.

I have the same situation. Rooted and custom recovery on z2 6503 stock 5.0.2. I got an update on my phone. Do I have to unroot and remove recovery? Or I can just update. I don't want to flash prerooted firmware

Hi! I have a question. But what does Back Up And Restore save then for you if it can't restore all your data? Because I'm afraid of losing all my gaming data, I don't wanna factory reset the phone because I don't know if my data will be saved... Rookie here
Well, I had the same situation as u( rooted with LB and custom recovery) . What I did is flashing 5.0.2 again to get back to stock recovery. Then installed the update normally through OTA with all my data preserved and no problems at alll ....but lost root of course.
You've another option that you can flash 5.1 directly through flashtool but untick the "wipe: data" before flashing. There is some prerooted FTFs in the forum ..choose the one suitable for u and flash it without wiping in flashtool.
Hope that helps.

I just did that last night. I made my own pre-rooted zip with recovery from Customized UK FTF , using the tutorials found here on XDA. I deleted cache with recovery and flashed the zip. Now I have 5.1.1 with root, no data lost and absolutely no issue and no force closing apps.

If you don`t want pre-rooted firmware you should update your phone via PC Companion, it will backup all your data. But be warned that you WILL LOSE ROOT and it will be quite tricky get root back. Another way is to flash a stock FTF using flashtool and uncheck flash data. This way you won`t lose any data, you only LOSE ROOT.
If you are sure you don`t want root anymore go ahead. I strongly suggest flashing a pre-rooted firmware.
hello all.
all the info out there is really confuse me.
some one please give me a valid links to here.
please correct me if im wrong somewhere in my understanding:
i own xperia Z2. my version is 5.1.1 stock.
the sound is crazy low ( after i put the max db at setting-sound...), so i searched what can i do about it, i've found there is a mod that fix this. as i understand, for that mod i should have recovery and rooted device, so i thought to myself "hey, if im gonna do root and install a recovery ill also will flash a nice rom"...
so i tried to follow some guides here but they are realy confused me.
at the links it says the root won't work for any device...
also it says it is gonna work for lockboot or something...
more over there is many methods and i dont know what is the simplest one.
there is more info that realy confused me and i want to be 100% sure im doing the correct steps...
I know i need to root and install a recovery, then i i need to pick some rom and flash it ( right?)
so please give me a links to here for what i need to flash a rom for my sony xperia z2 device ( v 5.1.1 stock).
ty for helping.
1.
The way i'd root my device on a locked bootloader is
- download flashtool and a older Firmware FTF
- FLASH the older firmware to my device and on the older firmware use a root tool to root my device
- I can now use root access to install recovery (XZdualrecovery)
- Download PRFcreator and a newer FTF with a superSU flashable zip
- Use prfcreator to make a flashable zip out of the new FW( include kernel and and all )
- copy it to device and flash it and be sure to wipe caches and data per big flash (e.g heavy FW changes)
- also google around for some things and make sure it all matches your device
(FTFs and xz recovery)
Also search for TA backup it may be useful for before you unlock your bootloader if you do
2/1. Use xda search tools to search Z2 section for root tool scripts
2. FTFs can be found in general section
3. You may want to add xz recovery to your upgrade flashable zip
4. Feel free to ask any aditional questions if you need more direction or detail
5. Unlocking your bootloader voids your warrenty (and wipes TA) if you restore your TA sony cant tell if you have unlocked your bootloader or not
(it also relocks your BL upon restoreing so be on a stock kernel)
what is FTF? is it the android version i have?
why i need an older one? i cant flash with 5.1.1?

FTF
I dont know its definition but its a full Firmware with included partitions so its essentially a factory firmware package
Kindof
Ita FW version and android verson
- Android rootkits use security exploits which google or sony may patch respectively
Rootkits dont work with newer FWs you will have to try 4.4.2 or the 55FWs
That guide looks good
After flashing if be sure to download a Newer FTF that matches your ROM version and be sure you flash only kernel
(exclude all) (some roms may not include a kernel)
To flash a rom after that one you can reboot into recovery and flash any stock based rom (and stock kernel to match Fw Version if it changes heavily)
Rootkits dont work with newer FWs you will have to try 4.4.2 or the 55FWs

55fws i ment the last numbers of a build number
The bugs that rootkits exploit are mostly fixed on newer Firmware versions (fw for short)
You need to downgrade to 55 or 402 fw to use some of the rootkits
i following those steps:
Flash official Sony's 4.4.2 17.1.2.A.0.314 with flashtool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2162907)
Root using any method
Install NUT dual recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2261606) or the recovery of your choice.
Reboot in recovery, Wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache.
Flash the rom.
Follow AROMA Installer.
so i went to do step 1:
but there- it is written:
With this release, before unlocking first time, root your device
so? i need to do step2 first, then step1?
That comment is about unlocking you bootloader. So no step 1 then step 2.
