need help identifying my honor 9 version - Honor 9 Questions & Answers

Hello Guys,
I got a Honor 9 on Black Friday and smart as I am, immediately went on to install a custom ROM, which I didn't manage to get running. I didn't know there are so many different models and I wonder how I could identify it. I bought it from amazon Germany and it says its model no 51091SPA on my purchase receipt but I cant translate that to which model this is and which firmware I have to download.
any help is appreciated
cheers

[Q] Which Official Rom for my HD2?

Dear Experts!
I am in need of your urgent attention. My EU leo's touch screen got out of function while using andriod NAND.
Now I had to send it to claim warranty and for that i need official win mo 6.5 in it. I gone through many threads and tried some official rooms too but it says 00028002 NOT ALLOWED...
My S/N is SH08PNW01121
P/N is 99HJY032-00
I just need a working official rom(Any version) for my HD2 so that i can send it for repair.
Kindly spare sometime and guide me.
I shall feel humbled....
Is there anybody to help me out???
drusmaan, it that a bid deal to download official rom? It's no need to be a big "expert" - RTFM is more than enough
Go to the HTC correspondent site and download software update via inserting your IMEI number.
If you are sure that you have European model than - do it with Euro web site.
First - check your IMEI here: http://www.numberingplans.com/?page=analysis&sub=imeinr to be sure about the phone origin.
HTC website not providing ROMs for HD2

change chinese firmware

Hello there!
I bought a Huawei Honor 5x from an Australian website (I'm currently living in NZ). When I got my phone, I noticed the box/instructions were in chinese. When I turn the phone on, it was the same thing. I tried to change the language but there were some sections like logs from update and some menus they were in chinese. I tried to change the firmware but it didnt work (probably because my model is KIW-TL00 and I downloaded a different firmware). Now, a stupid question: there is a way to change the model of the phone to be able to install a US firmware? and if it's not possible, there is a way to change the firmware to a english version?
Thanks in advance!

Can you run the script that is located here and post your results
I have the same problem and question. I bought one of these and it turned out to be the Chinese version. Even after changing the Android language to english there are still many chinese messsages. Any advice how to load a different firmware, or at least change all the Huawei messages to english? Thanks.

have you achieved root? which device, cause ive been on those chinese fourms, believe it or not, they have identical post for various phones, identical on various fourms, and they all ask you for a payment
I would pay for rooting, but all payments were provided by Alipay. These provider can only use with a chinese bank account. Not with a US/EU bank account. There are two different firmwares at the moment, one for the chinese market and one for Hongkong. ZHU means the Hongkong version, ZCU ist for China. The number behind APG ist the build. The last build for China is the 5, for HK the 4.

Outside China we can´t get the rootfile, because we have no solution for a payment through alipay. Any other news here?

Samsung back to its old tricks. HK firmware is NOT able to be used on Chinese phone despite same model number. Hate seeing that and people who need GAPPS and HK firmware will buy thinking the two are interchangeable.
Be WARNED - They are Not. HK firmware cannot be flashed onto Chinese phone by anybody who is not an expert programmer. I think. I will definitely avoid the s8 now.

Changing from chinese to european ROM

Hi, everyone,
i bought the Huawei Honor 9 chinese version (STF-AL00), is it possible to change the chinese version by the european version (STF-L09) through only FirmwareFinder (FF) Software ?
I'm asking that, because i saw a tutorial from someone, where he changed the chinese to european ROM just using the FF software. Basically, in FF, after the proxy configurations, when you search for a model to update, you change the model name for an european model (STF-L09...) and, after that, when you go to update option from device and ask for updates, the newest ROM (STF-L09...) will be available, so just confirm to install and reboot.
The procedure above really works ? I'm asking that because this procedure was done in other Huawei device, and not Honor 9.
I'm not with the device yet, not arrived from China.
I want to do so. Some Phonefixer on Taobao said they can do that but it is a little expensive(for me and other Chinese). It costs 190 yuan to do that.

Just follow the link above and it should work.
Sent from my Honor 8 Pro using XDA Labs
Could that possibly brick your device? Seeing as the Chinese version of the Honor 9 and the EU version use slightly different hardware?

Where did you get the 'phone from? I suspect that C576 might be specific to Israel, which would explain your inability to find it online. An even worse possibility is if it's a firmware build specific to your carrier - in which case you're at the mercy of your carrier as to when/if updates will become available.
My 'phone (which I got directly from China) has C636 (international) firmware.
If you're interested in "re-branding," have a look at FunkyHuawei's thread - that'll help you get to an international flavour of firmware which'll separate you from your reliance on your carrier.

Can you explain a bit more about "re-branding"
Is it reversable?
Can it damage the phone/functionality?
Etc..
Thanks in advance

I have to point out that I haven't performed anything mentioned in that thread, so can only speak from what I've read in that thread and elsewhere about the process.

Yes, as long as you have access to a copy of the original ROM.

Potentially, anything you do to the 'phone which involves a screwdriver or a USB cable can cause damage. I've done a lot of reading on the process and haven't seen any stories of irreversible catastrophes, but as with everything, it's up to you to decide whether you're comfortable with proceeding.
I'd suggest you have a read of at least the OP of that thread to get an idea of what's involved, then read through replies to see what sort of problems people have encountered and how they were resolved.
