Has LG always been slow to provide updates? My T-Mobile is still on May 1st Security Patch.

A lot of it depends on the carrier. LG has generally been one of the first in line with updates these last couple of years. You should be happy T-Mobile isn't rushing out buggy software like AT&T. As of now I (and many others) think we were better off with the May edition software.
I guess that's true. I was upset it took them forever to release Marshmallow to my Tab S2 but no issues with it.

Isn't a tab s2 a samsung? Samsung are one of the slowest to update devices.
I do think the U.S get a raw deal with updates. Mine is on 1st June security patch I think or maybe 1st July, it's in for repair right now so not 100%.
Tab s2 is a Samsung but just saying how long T-Mobile took to roll out the update.
If autoprime did not release the v10e I would still be on c. I think it is unacceptable, have already complained at LG Netherlands and Vodafone Netherlands. Although both have responded quite quickly in the end the release speed sucks compared to other providers/brands

I'm posting this to xda hoping it will get some attention because of the partnership. Around the middle of last year Honor volunteered to promise us regular updates for at least 1 and up to 2 years, but I don't think I've seen an update since Marshmallow. I know that doesn't necessarily mean Nougat, but it certainly doesn't mean nothing. Am I wrong? Has anyone else got anything since Marshmallow/EMUI 4 on their l-24?

I have L21, European. Got Marshmallow update, got B330 and B350 OTAs few days after purchase somewhere in November, and that's it. There is a January update (B360) which doesn't want to install on my device (frankly, I don't care anymore, my kiwi is running Lineage for two months now), so I guess this is end of a line, if 5X even gets something it will be much later this year. Marshmallow updates will probably still get published, but with no apparent schedule or plan.
I have B331, which is what I've had since Marshmallow, and even if I'd seen the few updates you got it would have at least been something to point at and try to convince myself they didn't just lie to boost their sales. I was fully onboard with Honor and was gonna stay loyal but this is getting under my skin. Plus I emailed their support that I thought was great last year but now I've never received a reply.
Hi
I have the Middle Eastern version of the Honor 5X.
The model number is: KIW-L21
My phone is running the latest available Marshmallow update which is B310 (middle east variant).
I understand that no Nougat update will be released, but when will the update for VoLTE support and WiFi calling be released for the Middle East version of this phone ? ? ?
VoLTE support has been available for the Indian version (KIW-L22) of this phone for many months now.
Honor is a smartphone brand that cannot be trusted - all they are good for is cheap false promises.
I will NEVER buy another Huawei or Honor phone again !
I found a link(ignore if already seen), where in LG provides details about monthly security bulletin for their devices. Wondering why they don't roll out.

Not really that "monthly"...
Depending on regions and carriers, updates may be released monthly, quarterly or irregularly. LG plans to expand the list.

It's a shame our international G6 is so behind other devices which already got their updates. That's not what I expected when I bought this phone. Overall it's great but LG's support, in fact it's lack of support, sucks in many ways.
The best combo for me would be: G6 with OnePlus update schedule as it fixes their phones quickly and Apple update schedule for 3-4 years of updates
But why facilitate when you can make things more difficult?
Well, this is our punishment for buying a "budget" phone ? . I wonder how much would cost a LG flaghsip that receives monthly updates as Nokia. As an owner also of a Nokia 5, I must say that I.m impressed by their commitement, since they issued every month security patches and some days ago they pushed oreo beta with december patch.

2 year old Moto G Turbo, and LGs flagship G6, both are on Oct security patch.
Not all G6. Some in Israel, Turkey, Latin America. Mine is Europe open and is on July patch...
So apparently LG confirmed on their German Twitter account that Oreo is probably coming in the second quarter of this year. Apparently the rollout only began on April 30th and only in Korea so...

Since April, we are actually in the second Quarter ?
Main markets in europe for LG are Italy and Poland , and they are just sure about it. LG Poland employee said that it is ready and is being validated by them ,which means release within 2-3 weeks.

LG says Q2 2019. So, sometime between April and end of June.
That was my prediction from the beginning -- last year when it started being discussed. And I was right. LG finally confirmed it in January.
Basically about the same time of year they delivered Oreo last year.

I heard those dates for the Korean version, which would put us in 3q.
Desperately hoping that's wrong!

No, because the article also specifically mentioned the V30S, which is a US998 variant. All US998 firmware is the same for US998 V30/V30+/V30S.
https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/...dule-for-south-korea-v35-and-v40-are-up-next/
the V40, V30, and V30S will have to wait until Q2 2019 (ends on June 30).

Even if LG tried to release Pie for just US998 V30S, it's still ALL of US998. Well, I mean I would feel sorry for the H930 variants and H932, but the rest of North America variants can flash US998 firmware. But I'm fairly certain it's ALL V30 variants in Q2. You can't say V30 and V30S and then leave out any.
From the Reddit thread:
LG also posted a list of LG phones that will receive Pie in Korean. Availability may vary depending on your region.
2019 Q1: G7, V35
2019 Q2: V40, V30, V30S
2019 Q3: G6, V20, Q8 (2018)
2019 Q4: Q9, X5 (2018)

Not all V30S are US998 variants though
The V300LW/KW/SW are korean V30S(+). So could very well be that "we" all will receive pie only in Q3, while the koreans still get it in Q2.
One thing is certain, LG is not a brand for those who love having an updated phone, given this behavior, my next smartphone will certainly not be LG !!

@SGCMarkus, thank you for the information about the Korean V30S. I hadn't run across the Korean variants of the V30S, but with the model numbers you supplied it was now easy to find.
I also knew while initially LG had also announced a 256GB V30S+, I never saw any proof it actually released. Here in the U.S. only the 128GB V30S was released, basically a V30+ with 6GB RAM.
But here are the details for anyone else who is interested in the V30S:

I still have a Nexus 5 in a drawer and I know the Google updates, you don't have to tell me what I have to take, when Huawei, Samsung, Xiaomi, Nokia, Asus, Motorola .. etc etc .. they already have Android 9, once LG was held in step but lately, on the software side, it is not its value
Bye

If you want quick updates, you go Google. All those OEM's listed still update slow. Maybe except for Nokia, which no one is buying anyway. Everyone else is all pretty slow.
People aren't buying any of those guys for the updates. They're buying them for what the phones offer out of the box.
If you bought an LG phone and you were seriously expecting reasonable updates, you haven't been paying attention.
So go whine about not buying an LG phone again because it's not being updated fast enough for you. That should have been apparent with their history of slow updates.

Can we just all agree we know LG is bad about updates? No need to go back and forth.
Yet LG promised about a year ago to do better. So there's some disappointment there, in spite of their acknowledged bad history before that.

It's old news that LG is bad about updates. Everyone should know that. It's foolish to have believed their promise that they would do better without any substantial proof to support that claim.
I got the V30 because it was a good purchase out of the box. I bought this phone knowing that I'd be upgrading to a phone with the latest software before this phone was updated. I've used a lot of LG phones. [emoji2377]
They don't surprise me. They shouldn't surprise anyone at this point. I'd have been surprised if they lived up to their promise for faster updates.
