Has anyone found a way to use Cellular Data while on a phone call? (Verizon V30 without being on WiFi) I've found posts saying that turning off the Advanced Calling feature does get you 1X data service, which it does, but what about getting full 4G working? Anyone have similar experiences?
Thanks
I've never understood this.
I've been on calls and had emails come in. I've been on calls while using my hotspot with no issues.
So what am I missing?
I just tested mine, on a regular 4G connection here at work. Was able to dial into my VM and listen to all the playback, and then go play around on data as normal. Not sure what the issue might be going on. I haven't changed any call settings (other than enabled wifi calling at home).

Is there away to set the data connection to NOT connect while I am on a voice call?
Every so often ill be on a phone call with a client and suddenly my data connection activates.. probably from active sync... and it drops my voice calls.
Will I have this issue if I switch to HSPA on bells new network?
has no one else experienced this?
you need a GSM phone.
CDMA is ballz.
i hate bell.
so is there not away to set the phone not to connect while its on a voice call?
Will HSPA suffer from the same thing?
None of the roms I have used allow data to disconnect voice, but works other way around.
What rom are you using?
I didn't know where else to ask this so I created this thread to hopefully someone can help resolve my issue. Ok lets begin.
I am having issues with recieving phone calls where I live. I do not get the best of service but it works. Now the odd thing I am facing is I can get 4g outside of my house, literally outside my house. My wife has, unfortunately an iphone, and gets great service inside. She is able to recieve calls and whatnot. I am not. I will get text messages saying why I did not answer and I am not even recieveing these calls. Sometimes turning airplane mode on and off will trigger 4g which is weird but shouldnt affect calls or at least idts. As some will know I did have to Lg Flash tool to return to stock, so maybe my issue lies there, idk.
Now here is where it gets interesting. I am a google Voice user. I will recieve the voicemail but not once did it ring. I do not know if google changed something ever since merging Hangouts with Voice but its weird. I have always faced these issues no matter what phone I have used. If someone can please enlighten me with a solution I would greatly appreciate it. If this is not where to ask, mods please relocate. Thank you.
Edit: I am rooted through the stump method and I use a lot of WiFi on my phone. If that helps.
Make sure your mobile network is set to LTE/CDMA ...and not global.
I've done that and it eventually turns back to global...
Update profile and prl too
I guess I should have been more precise. I know all the basic routines to try and get good service. I am just curious if anyone else faces these issues?
Try wifi calling or maybe complain to sprint and get a free airrave. Also for Google voice there is a bunch of setting you can setup on the Web. Google "Google voice settings" and login and check all the settings. Mine were off and was sending people it didn't know directly to voice-mail.
See that's where my other problem lies... I have satellite internet because that's all that is available in my area. Sprint's airrave doesn't work with satellite internet. I've already tried. WiFi calling is my only option except, doesn't that use my internet data? I only have a set amount I can use a month.

Yeah that also uses data.
Hi, Hope you can help me solve a problem with my Samsung Galaxy S4 SCH-I545 --
When 4G/LTE mobile data is active:
- incoming calls always go straight to voicemail (the phone does not ring)
- I cannot make outgoing voice calls (it just sits there forever and the call never goes through). If I turn off the mobile data, the call will go through.
When I am on a voice call, I can turn the LTE data on, and everything works fine (both data and voice). I just can't initiate a phone call (or receive one) when mobile data is on.
I am usually also using the phone in Wifi-tether mode, and my provider is Straight Talk.
Please help

Are you using the phone in global mode, LTE / CDMA or LTE / GSM / UTMS? Also, is the phone rooted or have a custom rom?

Global mode, LTE/CDMA
Rooted stock VRUFNK1 (4.4.2)
Xposed framework
It seems now that it's actually a little more complicated than I stated:
Initially (after boot) everything works as it should.
After some period of tethering, the issue appears (no voice calls while mobile data is on). At that point, I have to disable mobile data in order to place a voice call (though I can re-enable data as soon as the call goes through).
Or, if I turn the tethering off, that also seems to solve the issue for some time (even after I turn tethering back on).
I'm using the Wifi Tether Router app, but I'm pretty sure I also noticed this issue when I was using the ROM's built-in hotspot capability (which has other issues).

Try putting it in global mode. I had an issue making calls when I had it in LTE / CDMA. Also, which xposed modules are you running? Which baseband are you using?
Anyone else face this issue? if you tether the phone internet to your laptop, it works as expected but once you make/receive a call, the internet on the laptop will stop working. I also note that the phone signal will drop from 4G to 3G/H+ on the phone once you make/receive a call.
I have tried to reach out to Huawei for support but not getting any resolution from them.
Issue can be reproduce as below:
1. Tether your phone to your laptop and check that internet is available on your laptop.
2. Have someone call your phone or make an outgoing call, you will notice your mobile signal drop from 4G to 3G/H+. Keep the call ongoing and dont hang up.
3. Check your laptop to confirm that internet has stop working.
Not surprising at all, it's by design and not linked to the fact you're tethering the smartphone's data connection.
Without tethering, use a hands free kit or earphones, make a call or simply call your voicemail and now on the smartphone try browsing or any connected app, they'll fail: data connection is lost during voice call.
In order to keep your (4G) data connection, your mobile provider has to support VoLTE and you must activate related option on your phone. I did it, it's working, didn't try calling while tethering but I'm quite sure it's the same case =)
Still no internet with either VoLTE on and off. And I dont think this is to be expected as my previous phone, Xiaomi Mi Max has no issue and can do both call and tethering at the same time. And my colleague just did a test with his new Samsung Note9 and also didnt face this issue. Not sure if this is a software bug or a hardware design flaw/limitation
I use tethering/hotspot every few days and didn't notice any problem. Signal drops from 4G to 3G because Mate 10 doesn't support VoLTE but internet works fine for me.

Please test tethering while on call, not just tethering alone. Tethering alone works fine for me as well.
Internet will pause during phone call unless your network is VoLTE. My phone network signal will change from 4G to H+ during phone call.

As I said, it works fine while on call. I use tethering in my second apartment, airports and in almost every caffe bar and didn't notice any network problems on my notebook if someone calls me. There is one lost packet when phone starts ringing and that's it.
The first photo is WiFi hotspot + phone call and the second photo is USB tethering + phone call.
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the input on VoLTE, base on this info, i query my telco (Starhub) regarding this, and just a few mins ago i received an SMS that "HD Voice Plus" had been activated for my number. HD voice plus is just what they call VoLTE. Now i have a VoLTE icon on the top left of my phone. I tried the same case again and sure enough it is working now. Cheers.
I'm having issues with voice calls on my Verizon Pixel 6. I live in a wooded area with not great 5G/LTE reception and rely heavily on WiFi calling as such. I had no issues with my P4xl. After upgrading to the P6, I am having constant issues when I receive or make a voice call to a friend or family member.
Their voice becomes echoed and incomprehensible. Sounds like you are talking to a robot.
The only workaround I've found so far is to disable the WiFi manually in the settings while you are on a call. Then I am on the network (either 5G or LTE) with not great reception - one bar.
I have a feeling it is an issue between the WiFi calling hand off and the network. I've tried adjusting the setting in the developer options turning off Mobile Data Always Active. No luck.
Also changed my WiFi preferences to Use Device MAC and that did not help either.
I'm concerned because if someone else needed to use my phone in an emergency, they would run the risk of not being able to make a clear and successful call.
Any help appreciated!
