As many of us know, our chipset is already on Turbo to 800mhz. The recommended is 600. Most of us are on the belief that it can still be overclocked... is it possible? Anyone familiar with hardware here?
(It may be a waste of time for developers include it and test a phone being over-overclocked... not to mention probable damage too.)

Dude if u would have done a simple search on ace xda u would have found many threads related to the topic which u trying to get answer..
Anyways coming to ur points ...
Ya its possible...1GHz is the max...and no developer right now its working on overclocking..and that 1 GHz will m make ur battery drain faster.....

No need to be so aggressive sir that would just sound trollish.
"simple search" arrives at a thread of your question about ace overclock, rumor of "1.3 Ghz" but can you include your source?
The chipset we're using, the Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset, is a 600mhz processor which samsung overclocked to 800.. If it's overclocked already at 800 I'm asking if it would be safe to do it further? Since some of us are under the impression that the processor is packaged for 800mhz as original.
it isn't overclocked, it's turbo boosted.
i know that these things are 2 different things.

Weird though it runs "turbo" most of the time in use..
Do you know the difference? Google brings no results.
Qualcomm msm7227 turbo
I actually met a person working in Qualcomm and i had asked him that if the processor on our ace is overclocked or not. He told no. It seems that qualcomm uses a better processor on the chipset whose regualr clock frequency is 800 MHz. I have used a ZTE blade and tried to overclock it and it hangs at 729 MHz and it has msm7227 chipset. Our ace naturally is at 800 MHz so thus AFAIK it can be overclocked

That is really helpful. X10 Mini Pro uses msm 7227 chipset too and the best people can push is 768 before it freezes... Okay I feel better now, this phone can get 1 Ghz in the future. Awaiting the maturing of the development of this phone!
This may help you..a thread about overclocking

Moderators, please close/hide/delete this thread, as we have to create new one in the future, this just breaking some rules, thanks to wedgess for information.

Can't wait for jb version and would it be possible to disable als from the kernel level because it causes me lots of problems. If it isn't too much trouble please make version disabling als. Thanks

Is it possible to get say Extreme with 420p recording? I know it would lose some of its RAM... just curious. The thoguht of 8mb vram and gpu OC to 260mhz sounds appealing to me. But I would like to have 420p camera. If not I totally understand. Just curious is all
Saw the FAST options added. Oh man.... just made my day. Awesome. Just to clarify/confirm there will be different version for GB & ICS/JB correct?

eventually there will be but for now I'm polishing off gingerbread
i m only posting here cause of this: is really safe OC at 2.3ghz? i have a feeling many chips gonna be burned..as Doomlord himself said on Doomkernel thread, its more safe using cpu near to default..and he doesnt recommend using cpu above 1.6..wedgess and cosmic dan same opinions..so i think it would be good for all, a release with a bit more juice on GPU..mostly on ICS we need a boost. on GB with adrenobooster we already have an amazing result on roms and daily use. 1ghz--»2.3 seems..xtreme.
just my 2 cents beeing carefull..anyway great work, highly appreciated..and a little question: are JB kernel being thought?:good:
That was Justin's decision - you can always flash Extreme version and use 1.6GHz frequency . If you want my opinion about this, check DiXperia thread where I post my few words of using right frequency with right profile etc.
For example, my XPlay could reach 1.9GHz max, sometimes 2.0, but never more. Some devices, like Justin's Play, working on 2.3GHz better than 2.1, cause of voltages for each frequency .
i totally agree with you..but cutting a bit more frequencies it would not be bad at all..i ve said that on other thread, as i has a xtreme OC on desktop pc..i always be carefull, cause some chips yeh..they handle it..in same cpu/gpu series, same can do it nicely (always short time using) others cant..on long term result they might cause some graphics glithces, cpu faulty and so on..but it always depend on users choice to OC or not, cause a phone doesnt have a refrigeration system as pc can have to reduce temperatures and avoid burning chip.
More than the CPU, the GPU overclock seems really unsafe: doom has tried it still 2 years ago into one version of his kernel (I don't remember which release) and it only gives problem (if I remember correct one guy hasd his play death after some test), maybe is better to ask to doom some more information (he is busy with other devices but I think that he would reply with some more details)

I agree with the GPU overclock thing and it was v13 he had it ,then he removed it and made v14, So @extremetempz i think you should PM DoomLord and ask!

and ask him wich clock he used..250 i think it would not be harmful..but Doomlord can say better at wich clocks did he use both GPU/CPU.
i remember to read that one guy also burned his play with 2.0ghz..cant remember wich version of Doomlord kernel,.heated so much that board died.:crying: of course always users choice and fault..cant have a fiat punto racing like a ferrari.

hello guys... im plaining to get a new phone.. with Snapdragon 800 but i was reading thers 2 diferent Chips... the Low bin (Qualcomm MSM8974)
and the High bin (Qualcomm MSM8974AB) ... and i want something realy good that dosent f**k in some months... im a gamer so i love performance and good visuals.. and i know 2.2GHz are good but i was reading the NOTE 3 has the same Chip(Qualcomm MSM8974 the low bin) and its at 2.3Ghz... u guys think this can be solve by a kernel in the future? to get more GHz and MHz on GPU.. ? give me an opinion please

There is no difference in GPU with either device running snapdragon 800 SOC's. The chips are exactly the same in actual fact, its just the higher capacity of tolerance for the higher clocked speed. So if a chip could take a higher clock speed during a stress test, then they were clocked at 2.3ghz...
But even though on the XZU we have 2.2Ghz (2.150Ghz to be exact) we are more than likely to be able to overclock it to 2.3ghz... similarly that the 2.3Ghz SOC could be overclocked to 2.4Ghz...
- Obviously this depends on developers we get for the XZU.. and if they want to put the many man hours into kernel development
As far as future proof is concerned... The 800 will be good for 18 months...

More than that it can only be that Sony actually set this limit for battery drain and thermal as well. While playing it become really hot. And if play and charge during the same time it become he'll. It remind me of the CPU that have on the HTC sensation and sensation XE, same CPU that was actually underclocked on the sensation.
As hamdogg just said, the CPU clock speed is not related to game, it's the GPU. All 800 SOC have the adreno 330

Its dependant on so many variables and the Z Ultra has 50mg more allocated to video ram than other snapdragon devices. See comparison below

Ha Ha yeah... mg or MB whats the difference
So many months passed but no new extra featured kernel why no developers are giving any interest i know it can harm the device but the users knows well how to use phone at what clock they should use it normally
One plus one have 2.88ghz cpu + 657mhz gpu oc kernel
So requesting dev to give something new like gpu cpu oc support kernel ?
Sorry for posting it ....

So I have the m4 aqua for quite some time, and I never actually read anything about it's SoC. Until just recently I came to see that Snapdragon 615 actually supports 1.7GHz frequency on the big cores. And I was about to ask if the cores are already clocked at 1.7GHz, and if not, can you even increase the frequency by any method (root required ofc)? I don't mind the heating if the raw performance can be improved, mostly asking for gaming purposes.

Are there any kernels who already have this, or I'm supposed to build my own (I'm not very good with this stuff, so I'd rather use some already modified)?
Idk but we have sources and good way to compile kernel with over clocking.. But i dont know, this is only my opinion

It reaches 80'c max on 1.5ghz at 1.7ghz it's gonna fry cpu for sure..
