V9902AA kdz file? - Verizon LG V10

Can anyone who is on Verizon upload the recent VS9902AA update please? Apparently, Verizon users have been getting it since November 21. The kind user @rustypie who has been doing the uploads for us international users for a while, has apparently moved on to V30.
Thanks! Alternatively, if anybody knows a way to get the updates/update files while not on Verizon network, that explanation would also be really useful.

Yes I have moved on to the V30 and it's a dream. lol. However I was able to locate the 2AA kdz for you. You can get it here. This is not one of my uploads so I can not guarantee its authenticity, availability, etc, etc but I would guess it's OK. I grabbed a KDZ from here a long time ago for my old G4 and had no issues.
Hope this helps.

@rustypie Thank you so much! I confirm that this firmware does work for VS990.

Update Problem

Hello All!
I am fairly new to the site, and not too tech savvy, but I'm having some problems with my Verizon LG V10 I bought about 3 months ago.
I bought the unit from eBay for 300 dollars in new condition (a steal if you ask me), and it's been working great, but I have been having issues updating my phone.
I am aware that Marshmallow is out for the V10 on Verizon, yet whenever I click on check for updates, it always says no upgrade is available.
As most of you probably know, Verizon phones are unlocked, and I am using an H20 sim card, putting the phone in international mode. My question is that I'm wondering if that is the problem, or is there something else?
Thanks for your help
I thought all the V10's shipped with Marshmallow.

They actually don't.
I bought this one off of ebay, and it came with 5.1.1
I even tried the Verizon Software Updater, and thought I had it, only to find out that nothing changed, I really want to get a hold of the battery life optimization in Marshmallow
You won't get Verizon updates on another network or outside North America.
Download the kdz and upgrade it yourself
please provide kdz file working link, nowhere i can find it.

Finally Nougat update AT&T G5!!

Just checked and got the update available after a LONG wait and God knows how many checks.
Forgot to mention
Sorry forgot to mention it is just a shade over 1500 megabyte.
Yeah, since I'm not expecting root for us for a while, I went ahead and downlaoded it yesterday.
Exact size was 1505.68mb I believe.
Honestly kind of liked the old quick toggles better.
I'm happy we finally got the update and so far so good. I had hoped the long wait past the other US carriers meant 7.1 but I pretty much new that's all it was, hope. Miss the ability to go into settings with long press of the recents button. I'm watching the battery usage to see how it does for me as I have heard varying reports from great to horrible.
Whoo hoo, just got it too, look all 3 of us ATT G5 users, lol...
I'm with cricket, so i won't get the OTA. I was trying to check through LG Bridge but it keeps telling me "cannot check the sofware version." Anyone else have this issue?

I received the same error through the LG Bridge. I'm using an unlocked H820 on T-Mobile, so I cannot get the OTA either.

Yeah, I definitely think it does. I had read elsewhere that you have to have an active AT&T SIM card in the phone to get the update. That appears to be true. A coworker of mine is letting me use his AT&T SIM and now it's now downloading the update. I found that I had to check multiple times to get it to show. Since you can only check once per 24 hours, I manually changed the date to later in February and it worked with the AT&T SIM. It's still downloading, but it's 1.5GB so it has to be Nougat.
I'm outside the US, I tried the OTA and LG Bridge with my SIM unlocked H820. I can't really buy a new device since I don't have the money for it. I am incredible disappointed with this device and ATT. I will never buy from LG again.
Hey I have a G5 too! I'm excited to get home and Download this.
Mine started the update then said that the download failed... Now each time i try to check for a new update it tells me there are no updates available? Any suggestions to kick start the update?
LG G5 US AT&T here. Did the OTA update about 28 hrs ago now, and it went very smoothly. So far, I'm super pleased with the update. My phone feels faster and smoother all around, and while it's too early to tell for certain, it seems initially like batter life is noticeably improved.
I'm outside the US. Using an unlocked H820. I got an AT&T SIM card from a friend, tried updating and got a message saying my device is up to date (So no Nougat update yet). I did this with mobile data off while I was connected to Wifi. Don't have too much experience with this - Are there any specific things I need to take care of before trying to update or is it enough to just insert the SIM card and try updating? Thanks!
I'm happy we got "an update".
However, so far I'm skeptical of any battery life improvements. I suspect that Bluetooth drain is actually higher than before. And general standby drain may also be 2% or so higher...
How many cats have you all caught with the new "Easter egg?" Kinda lame, but funny too.
I don't have the fingerprint option now! Weird
I bought an unlocked h820 from b and h, when I chek for software updates it says that is up to date but im on marshmellow, what can I do?
****, didn't realize this would kill pdanet's wifi tethering. Wish I could go back.

Buy an AT&T SIM and activate it, that's the only way.

[HELP] Bootloader still locked as of 2018-03-03 ... so, how to do certain things ?

Hello from Switzerland,
A few days ago, I made a little-big mistake : I bought a second-hand LG G5 from AT&T, the inglorious H820 ...
The question is then, should I keep it or resell/return it ?
I need some help to decide what to do, hence this message.
The main interest for me was - and still is - the "photo quality" this Phone delivers.
And if I read well some posts here and there, the app provided by LG is the best one for this phone, better than ported ones from other builds or photo apps on GooglePlay.
=> a) could someone confirm that the best photo app for quality pix is the one provided by LG ?
As of still today (2018-03-03), the bootlader cannot be unlocked and certainly never will because this is done by LG Developpers and there is no interest in making an "old" bootloader unlockable for LG "heads".
This means no "custom recovery" with TWRP, no apps requiring root access, no "better" wifi eventually ... and so on.
No big deal for me as my main concern is debloating the phone more than anything else and keeping it updated for security reasons and keeping it update with genuine patches supposed to solve eventual issues. (The phone is old and these patches should be out by now).
=> b) If TWRP cannot be used, what is the best solution for the fullest backup and closest one to TWRP ?
Holo/Helium ?
Or is there a new/different way to do the fullest possible backup/restoration thing ?
LG G5 H820 seems to be still running on MM and at least other models such as Verizon and EU H850 should receive this year Nougat.
=> c) Will there be a Nougat update for the H820 as for other types (=H850) ?
=> e) With the end of developpement of this phone, will security patches still be provided ?
Thanks for your attention and help in deciding what I should do with this "particular" version of LG G5.

all of your questions can be answered if you put out 5 minutes of your day to google them.
And what do you think I've done all day before posting ?
Knowledge is always evolving ... and who knows ... maybe some nice guy will have a less "geeky moderator" approach to my message.
All I need is either confirmation or hints to know what to look for.
And this can be answered in less words it took you to answer "Google it"
Thanks.
it does have nougat
security patches will likely happen for a few more months, but i imagine not much longer since nobody cares about this phone
i dont backup anything. its just a phone. auto save your pictures to google and screw the rest. you cant do a full backup so why bother with a partial one.
best camera app for me is the stock one (nougat). ive tried others but they have weird issues. stock app always works and the quality is good.
if you want everything youre asking for, this isn't the phone to do it. As a stock phone, its wonderful.. but trying to modify anything on this is a joke. I did get wifi tethering to work with the settings database editor (playstore), and i was able to remove the stupid ATT address book popup... but thats about it as far as mods go.

Hi Resinis,
Thanks for your reply.
You're right ... Pictures and other personal and unreplacable things is what really matters.
The bootloader thing + root is not for customizing ... it is more more for debloating and convenience of usage is some particular change of setting goes wrong AND ... fop apps requiring root eventually.
Thanks for "nougat" info.
I'll see when I'll receive the phone ... it will be "keep it or resell it"
Have a nice day,

If you don't use ATT or ATTGo, then the phone (H820) will not update. But, you can buy an ATTGo phone sim card on ebay for like $3. Once you get the sim, go to ATT's website and activate the sim card. It will ask you to enter in some info... you can use a fake name if you want but you don't need to. Once it gets to the option of which plan you want, just pick whatever, it doesn't matter ($30/month plan is fine). Then it will say "activated! now go to payments page to make your first payment". Then just close the browser and that's it. Pop the sim card in your G5 and wait about 10 min before you try to update the phone. It should start taking all the updates, and eventually put Android 7 on it.
The sim will remain "active" for about 20 days. After that, the system flags it due to non payment and then its dead. It can't be used for anything besides updating the phone, because you didn't put money on it.
I agree with wanting to root so you could debloat this thing... I wish that was possible... but it's not and generally I don't think it matters... just disable what apps you can, and the couple ATT apps that can't be disabled are just left as is. Oh well. Phone still works great.

I would still spend the $6 on an AT&T SIM and give it a shot. I am in Canada and activated the SIM I've got off E-bay on a $40 plan that includes roaming. My updates work.
Would it be because the plan I've picked has the Canada & Mexico Roaming option? Not sure.

Are you an AT&T customer? AT&T only gives updates to AT&T customers. Plus, AT&T firmware has some bloatware you don't need if you are not an AT&T customer.
This is the STICKY GUIDE you should have found:

No, there's no advantage right now to running Pie. I am still on rooted Oreo firmware myself. The later Oreo updates (2019) have fixes and more features than Nougat or even early Oreo (2018) updates.

Yes, I am an AT&T customer but through Cricket Wireless. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. I just know that Cricket is using or owned by AT&T. Thanks for the updated link. Then you're probably on the last Oreo.
The last one posted here for H931 was 20Q. Since AT&T doesn't release KDZ publicly, Dev has to basically cobble it together from OTA Update.

I called Cricket Support and asked them about the possibility of an OTA update and they told me that even though the phone could be updated to Pie, that LG did not have a Pie update for the V30. And honestly, even though I am fairly tech savvy, I don't think I want to go through all those steps to do the update. I might change my mind later but not anytime soon. I really appreciate all of your time and information though and have it bookmarked for later use if needed.

They told you wrong. Cricket apparently knows nothing about the AT&T H931. Yes, it has Pie.
The only North American variant which doesn't have Pie yet is Sprint.
But AT&T H931 Pie is not posted here because the dev tools for AT&T Pie don't work. So, last one posted here is Oreo.
But if you had AT&T SIM card, your H931 would receive OTA Pie update.
However, you're not missing anything. I'm still on rooted Oreo firmware (on purpose) on my US998 V30+.

Yeah, it didn't sound like he knew much about it to me either. I wonder if I could switch over to an AT&T card to get the update. @ChazzMatt, Well it turned out that my wife's Samsung S5 has a micro SIM and not the nano SIM. I'm going to take my phone to the local AT&T store and see if they will help me out. I may end up switching back to the AT&T Prepaid service though for the extra support and more Gigs per month.

Question Best Way to Update on MNVOs?

I've got an unlocked S23 Ultra, S918U1, currently running on Google Fi. Will probably be switching to US Mobile's Verizon plan soon tho. I'm wondering what my best options are for keeping the device updated. It's still on May but maybe too early to worry about the June update? But I can get a little impatient sometimes and I'm not sure how updates tend to go with MNVOs.
So I guess I'm wondering about: Smart Switch, changing CSC, and Odin. Any tips for keeping this device promptly updated?
Use Odin. Changing CSC shouldn't matter too much although it might cause problems if you don't wipe data. It's been a while since I've dealt with Samsung.
As far as getting ahold of the firmware in the first place I believe Frija is your best option, although I don't know whether Samsung makes their updates publicly available at the same time they push OTAs.

Thank you for the response. I will check out Frija, also the Sam Mobile app seems to list firmwares, but no June release for U1 yet. I guess I might end up just flashing firmwares with Odin. Thanks again!

Just make sure that you pay attention to which CSC file you use. The HOME_CSC.tar is for an update preserving user data. The CSC.tar will wipe data.

If you bought it as an unlocked phone...and it isn't network (carrier) branded...you'll get the updates more quickly anyway.
The U1 version usually gets the updates about two weeks after Korea does...and only one week after we in Europe do.
FYI....if you device is unbranded...it doesn't matter what carrier your SIM is. The updates are independent of the carrier.

Oh, thanks for the information, I do have an unbranded US U1 model, so maybe I'll be able to just wait for the updates to come OTA. That would be the easiest of course. And thanks for the info about the timeline, I see that the June updates for many models seem to be up on Sam Mobile as of today, so hopefully another week or two for me

Yep, and the U/U1 firmware is interchangeable, but if you don't want carrier bloat, go with U1

As I understand..is was rolled out a few days ago...and it is slowly released across the range. For example...it took a few days for me to get it here in Europe after it was officially released. My guess is...a few more days and you'll be golden.

Yep, it's all U1 for me! I believe it even still comes with native caller ID

He is already on U1...so is already bloat free. He can't root it...so he may as well just wait for the update. My guess is....3 to 4 more days.
