Storage reduced to 16gb - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

I flashed the fastboot version of miui9 stable and it flashed the 16gb version of userdata. Can anyone help me to restore it to 64gb?

Have you tried formatting and reflashing with the correct fastboot file?

Bootloop after flashing rr nougat

Hey guys.
I'm using a 32/3GB kenzo with an unlocked bootloader running official rr mm.
I formatted the phone, flashed CM14 firmware, flashed the official RR nougat and GAPPS, then rebooted to system.
At this point, it started bootlooping, booting to the MI splashscreen, staying there for about half the time it usually does, before rebooting and repeating the process.
At this point, I was unable to access recovery, but was able to access fastboot and edl.
Flashing a recovery using the "fastboot flash recovery" command failed, so I assume that the partitions were corrupted.
I had to revert to MIUI by flashing through edl using MI flash, which fixed all the issues.
Can someone tell me what I did wrong?
Or should I follow the newbie guide 2.0 from the forums?
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

Which recovery you uaed for flashing rr n. Because you went bootloop and recovery was not able to access that means may be some problems in recovery or either in rom/gapps zip. Make sure you are flashing gapps for NOUGAT only. And use latest stable miui firmware (not cm14 zip one although may be both are same)
Try this
1. Flash zcx recovery (I recommend this, never disappointed)
2. Flash latest miui stable firmware
3. Flash rom zip
4. Flash gapps n
Boot to system
5. Then flash kernel or anything.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try it soon. Can you tell me how to get the miui stable firmware?
Should I fastboot flash latest MIUI stable before flashing the ROM or is there a MIUI firmware zip file to flash?

There is flashable zip file which is extracted from miui rom only. So both way will be good as flash latest stable miui rom and then twrp > rom zip > gapps. Or twr0 > firmware zip (search in any custom rom thread you will get one) > custom rom zip > gapps.
Only benefit of flashing firmware zip is less time consuming and less file size (around 50mb) compare to full miui rom.

First of all why would you flash any rom via fastboot/miflash? when you already unlocked the bootloader? because in doing so your bootloader will relock automatically (Mostly on Globle Stable roms because those come with locked bootloader).
My advice re-flash Globle Dev version and try.

If your phone is really 64GB version as you're saying then it could be internal partition problem which could be solved by various apps (root is req.) and within TWRP, please try otherwise flash Global Dev via TWRP (preferably redwolf recovery, because it contains lazy flasher and many things for MIUI).

Hello! I am a Redmi Note 3 user, some days ago I changed from stable to beta ROM and spoiled my device. All the sensors are not working and can't apply for unlocking bootloader. Sensor not working then May be something wrong with persist partition.
Did u manually downloaded recovery rom from mi site.?
Why miui 9? Latest beta is miui 10 . go to system updater app and press update to upgrade to latest miui 10 beta version.
I think latest beta is 8.10.11 something.

So u on miui 9 stable?
U stuck during upgrading miui10 coz u must factory reset. Sometime rom cant boot due to data partition and apps.
So need to clear user data to succesfully boot on upgrade. So u must factory reset to clear data partition. Else u will face problems. or bootloop while upgrade.
So if I just want to do the repair sensor stuff, what shall I do?
I did install TWRP but couldn't install any custom ROM, all stuck in bootloop!
What shall I do?

Flash gapps
Reboot

I tried latest fastboot ROM with flash all option as you guided, it shows an error that this file can not be flashed. After that I flashed this by EDL mode, the flashing completed successfully but the sensors are still not working!

Just extract the persist.img file from fastboot rom.
Put the device in fastboot mode or if it doesnt work then put in edl mode and flash.
And flash using fastboot command
fastboot devices
fasboot erase persist
fastboot flash persist persist.img
fastboot reboot
Or
easy method
u can just flash persist.img file using TWRP. if twrp ask which parttion to flash then select persist partition.

Can't flash latest stable 10.0.4.0

I have unlocked bootloader with TWRP 3.2.3 (the working decryption one). I was on latest global beta 8.10.30 before flashing the global stable release. but now on boot up it asks for password. What should i do?
Format your data using twrp then flash same happened with me , xiomi doesn't allow to rollback to previous version
Latest stable 10.0.4.0 based on Oreo.
Beta 8.10.30 based on Pie.
IMHO Pocophone has no rollback protection.
Try restoring via MI flash tool. It did worked for me but as u know it will lock the bootloader and erase everything to factory! But eventually you will end up the stable version!

So no other way except formatting internal? Also miflash has option of keep data, will it keep my bootloader unlocked? And the latest stable Oreo fastboot ROM hasn't come out yet right?

You can give it a try for keeping the internal data but i hardly think that will work.
Yeah the fastboot for MIUI 10 stable is not out yet but yeah for MIUI 9 is there! Here is the link:

You are jumping from beta to stable. Anytime you flash from beta to stable or vice versa, you'll need to format internal storage. That's how MIUI stupid policy works.
Even if you flash the fastboot rom via Miflash using option to keep data, it'll still ask for the password when you boot and eventually you'll have to format internal storage. It'll be a long process. Instead, use twrp now and format internal storage. Sorry for your loss.
Bootloader will remain unlocked when you use Mi flash. The latest stable is already out, wait for the fastboot links as they will be posted shortly which is 10.0.4.0 based on Oreo. The beta version is now based on Pie.
beta users here?
is the skip lockscreen option back?
try in Twrp > Wipe > factory reset when you move between rom. No guarantee though it will help not to format data (Wipe > Format data) for new rom to work.

Question Can i downgrade from miui 13 to 12 without loosing data?

I should have been more careful before updating coz after the update i realized that twrp won't work on miui 13. I can fastboot recovery but the internal storage is encrypted and it shows 0 MB. I need root, so i am thinking of downgrading to 12.5 again. Can i do that without loosing data? Also how can i downgrade? Should i just download fastboot version of the rom and update it?

you can't update from 13 to 12.5 you need to erase all your data , it's mandatory...
Just flash the fastboot rom with Mi Flash and tick "Clean All" so after MIUI boot you can flash twrp and other ROM again
Already messed it up :-( Can you please tell me which fastboot rom i should flash... I was using eu rom but even after flashing it phone boots to mi recovery.
Hey, yesterday I flashed xiaomi eu stable MIUI 13.0.3 by their script.
To do it,
1) put the phone in fastboot mode
2) just run the script by double clicking on it, however you need the file with data_format on the end.
If your phone does bootloop and go back to MIUI Recovery 5.0 like mine did yesterday, you can fix it by wiping all data in this recovery it boots up to and then restarting the phone. It worked for me and my friend.

I installed today CherishOS A12. Tbh cool rom, doesn't work that bad. A lot better than miui though. Animations are nice and long, plus the phone is fast.
