Hello!
Is it possible to downgrade the LG G5 (H850 from Orange Romania) from a newer FW to an older one? Currently i'm on V10a and i'm trying to get used to the battery life so i wish to know what my options are in case i decide to update and things don't go well. My previous phone was Samsung S5+ (and before that S3) and switching from different FW's was easy.
I really appreciate any help you can provide.
Yes you can, there is always a possibility that in the future lg will add a anti-rolback function, but it never happened on the International variant
Hello guys!
I recently found out that my G5's IMEI links my phone to Israel. The weird thing is that my G5 is a H850 model, the EU one. So, if I would flash the EU H850 oreo update would it work on my phone or would i just brick it?
P.S: I'm in Romania
Hi, i have the same H850 with the IMEI registered on Israel, i'm using a kdz from UK and it's perfectly working, so don't worry; I didn't checked the Oreo rom but i think it's gonna work without dobut.
Mine seems to be linked with Switzerland. When I flashed Oreo it asked me on start-up if I wanted to use Switzerland region and I selected "no-'other'. I didn't understand why it was asking me that but as you say OP maybe the IMEI is linked with Switzerland. I bought the fone second hand so I don't know where it was bought originally. Anyway I don't see any issue since I flashed yesterday.
Hello
I have Lg v30 model H933 and this guy who repaired my phone after it got bricked, flashed boot loader version of US998, now my question is if a flash firmware US99810c_03_1216.kdz will it brick my phone? It did brick my phone when I flashed US99810d_01_0411.kdz which is an Android oreo firmware.
SO my phone is booting up and working right now with firmware H93320h_00_OPEN_CA_OP_1123.kdz which is an oreo android version, this phone came with a nougat version and wifi was working on nougat so now i am trying and testing all the different available nougat firmwares available for V30 phones and even for different models just to see if any one of them would work so far none of the nougat firmwares have ever made further than lg logo screen at the startup of boot, and this is with any nougat version firmware i try regardless of their models of course still all for LG v30 .
Flashing Android oreo firmwares always started and booted nicely with any suitable model so far that I have tried but no wifi still and nougat no matter whichever model LG v30's firmware i try never made it past lg logo screen.
Please let me know any possible solution or idea anyone may have.
Thanks

For all V30...
10d is still Nougat.
Oreo starts with 20a, and goes up higher.
First Pie will be 30a.

Sorry my bad You are right, I flashed US99820d_01_0710.kdz and it got bricked and thats when I had the guy flash the boot loader again to get it to download mode again and then I flashed H93320h_00_OPEN_CA_OP_1123 the oreo version and phone is booting fine but no wifi so i am trying to get the nougat version flashed in this phone and get it to boot properly to see if wifi will work on nougat or not.
Thanks

i dont know why 20 d bricked my phone? do you have any idea? i am asking this just to make sure 10 c nougat of us998 wont brick my phone, just trying to understand the issue.
thanks a lot

The wild card is whatever the guy did to unbrick your phone. You may no longer have a "normal" phone. You SHOULD be able to flash US998 Nougat, master reset, then flash any version of US998 Oreo. With H933 you would have to DL Partition to US998 both times or even use Refurbish. It's in the Frankenstein instructions and countless people have done it. But the repair guy may have done something to interfere with that happening.
Hey, I bought a LG H930DS from a reseller who was probably importing stuff from abroad, so while I'm mostly based in EU, I've the AME region in my phone (all stock).
And so far, no OTA or LG Bridge update for me and still sticking to V20f-AME-XX... There has been some slight delay even on Oreo, but wasn't so long IIRC.
However, at this point, since I don't care about sticking to this region, would be safe to update it to HK (or maybe the recently arrived TW) images, preferably without loosing data, and (for sure) dual-sim?
I've seen the changing region topic has already been covered in the past, and so in theory should be, fine but I wonder if the fact that would also imply a switch to a mayor release anything.
And if all is good, can I just use LGUP?
same here , i also own the h930ds with v20f-ame version . there's no 9.0 pie ota update nor kdz for it till now

That link you posted is from 2 years ago. Some of that information is not correct. At one point we thought flashing H930 over H930DS changed bands but it doesn't. Remains H930DS bands. We also thought flashing H930 over H930DS made the 2nd SIM not work, but it doesn't. Both SIMs still work. That's the danger of looking at very old threads. Back in Feb 2018 we didn't know all we do now.
And we can't go back and change every thread from two years ago...
You can flash any H930DS Pie or even EU H930 Pie KDZ and your phone will have Pie.
The only caveat is if any carriers have VoLTE/WiFi calling on AME firmware, by now having different firmware those options will probably not work. However, even that isn't always true... On latter EU Oreo H930 KDZ, the India Jio VoLTE started working when on earlier EU H930 it did not. At first the India carrier VoLTE was only reserved for India region KDZ.
I don't know about AME carriers.
Thank you, in fact I was quite sure this wasn't anymore the case as I read updates around later the post.
However, I don't need VoLTE calls, nor AME carriers, given I live in Europe.

I also live in the EU and have the H930DS AME version.
If you don't care about Volte (I don't know if it works as my carriers don't use it anyway), then you can safely update to any H930 or H930DS variant via LG-UP.
Personally I am using the EU H930 firmware as I found it was the one with more regular updates. The calls and data work perfectly fine in both my SIM cards.
The only change I noticed is that despite flashing the EU region firmware, in the phone settings it is shown as GLOBAL-COM, and I never received OTA firmware updates, I always had to update via LG-UP. But I don't think we are going to see more updates from now on, so this is not really an inconvenience.

Strange your WiFi isn't working. What happens when you manually turn it on and off?
Also try latest 31a EU H930.

Thank you for the replay
Wifi is on but it couldn't connect to router probably.
After 10 times turning on and off the wifi or manually select connect it will connect to router but about 5 seconds after that it will get disconnected again. Sometimes it would stay connected about 1 hour but that is rarely happened. It could not also connect to other phone's hotspot. Changing the adsl modem couldn't help that
. I tried liquid remix based on pie and found the same issue. I used to use the phone about 2 month like that but couldn't stand that way and rolled back to oreo
I guess pie roms wont work on the ame version yet

Wait. Are you talking about Wi-Fi on rooted stock firmware OR are you talking about Wi-Fi not working on LOS-17 based custom ROMs?
No one is complaining about Wi-Fi not working on stock Pie firmware. Even other AME users who installed EU H930 Pie.
People like this below would have noted if Wi-Fi wasn't working.

On both custom roms (which had andorid pie) and stock pie roms I had no wifi. And I had unrooted (relocked bootloader) my phone before flashing stock pie roms. I used lgup to flash stock kdz.
This guy has the same problem

Yes wifi disconnects after a few seconds , still a problem, today I flashed Austuralian KDZ with build date of 25-7 the wifi problem still exists, I hope it will be fixed.

Strange. Because not many complain about Wi-Fi on stock firmware. Stock Wi-Fi is what people want back....
Having said that, I'm not a big fan of LG stock Pie. Which is why I never upgraded and an still on stock rooted Oreo.
In Pie, try flashing your Oreo AME modem in Dev Patched LGUP to get your Oreo modem back. See if that does any good for your Wi-Fi?
See here:

Well the pie modem obviously doesn't work for some devices, and the oroe modem is a fix, as mentioned here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80271901&postcount=1580
To do this, get the "DEV PATCHED LGUP"
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/development/h930-lg-v30-european-market-h930-t3779076
1) Go into download mode (power off completely, then hold volume up button while plugging in USB cable)
2) open patched LGUP and flash OREO KDZ to DL PARTITION mode.
Click "start"
In the pop up box select only "modem"
Restart, done.

Yes you can use LG-UP to flash any firmware from H930DS or H930 without wiping data. You will only lose your home screen configuration. Just make sure to select update and not refurbish on LG-UP. The AME version has never updated from V20f, so this would be your only option to get more recent updates.
