Anyone here who migrated from a Oneplus 5T? - LG V30 Questions & Answers

Hello, kind folks! I ditched my Mate10 Pro and am choosing between the V30+ and the 5T as my next device.
I was hoping I could get insights from someone who has used both devices.
TIA.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk

I owned both the 5t and the v30. The 5t was sold as, imo it doesn't come close to the v30 in screen quality, camera, always on display and more.

I didn't have a op5t but i had the op5 and had to get a new phone since i dropped it and messed up the screen. I do miss oxygen os, dash charge and the slider on the side of the phone. I've beem having the v30+ for 3 days now and so far so good. This phone has better touch vibrations, screen and resolution is of course top notch. I had to use nova launcher since im not a fan of lg skin. V30 has more bells and whistles than op5 and of course more expensive but its justfied. You won't go wrong with either of them, if i didn't break my op5 i would've kept it for 3 yrs or so and i had the phone since it came out.

Why'd you get rid of the Mate?

On the fence about getting another N6P

I had a used N6P a while ago but it went into the dreaded bootloop of death. I went back to my trusty N6 but It's really starting to show it's age...
I have been contemplating about buying another N6P but I don't want to waste the money again for it to go into another bootloop. What do you guys suggest?
Wouldn't buy a used 6P due to potential bootloop and battery issues. I'd try to get a new 6P at good price or look at other options. Have you considered the OnePlus 3T? It's a very good phone and reasonably priced.

Hmm I was considering a OnePlus device... What about a normal 3? Is the "T" significantly better?
3T better if you can

Ok, bit the bullet and bought a 3T. Was on the fence about this device for a while but meh, just wanting to move on from my N6.
Thanks guys.

The 3T is a solid upgrade mainly due to the bigger battery. Slight bump in performance from SD 821 and 128 GB option is also nice. I've had the 3T for about 2 months and can't really complain about anything.

Good call! My 6p has been getting realllllly hot lately now that the weather is warming up, it is a little concerning
i love the 6p.
but i got my new, and thankfully have not got any issues with it , used it for around 9months now i think.
if you can get one in New condition, then get it by all means.
but if not, then go with a op4 /moto any other smartphone that comes with a good chip and stock android.

Love this phone but getting a bit old now, What to replace with?

Ive had the nexus 6p for a while now and had to replace the battery numerous times (mostly due to my using wireless charging that seems to eat batteries). i recently updated it with lineage 15.1 which seems to be working fine but having replaced the battery yet again im thinking it might be about time to look for a replacement phone. i did fancy a honor but found that the bootloader unlocking is now a problem so thats out the equation. question is what should i consider for my next phone? it needs a decent size screen, rootable / flashable, and most of all it needs to be affordable. any suggestions?
OnePlus 6T which should be announced in a couple of weeks?
It's been 3 months since I changed my nexus 6P for a Oneplus 6, and I'm really happy, I had a little hesitation because of the notch, but as she is small she does not bother.
The optimization of OxygenOs (Android Pie ) is really great, 0 lags in apps and games.
You can root it with magisk
For me it's definitely going to be the oneplus 6t end of November or December I am buying it for sure.
I'm going to replace mine with a Pixel 3 XL. I don't care if it's ugly as hell, I'd rather stick with a Google device. I'd like to avoid making the mistake of switching to another manufacturer again, even if they have a good reputation like OnePlus. It's never as good as having a Nexus/Pixel device straight from Google.

im leaning the same way too, i did have a go with a honor that looked fine until i found there is no more bootloader unlocks so that went back. i do quite like the look of oneplus but im not that rich sadly so im thinking a second hand pixel might be the way forward. ive just replaced the battery in the 6p again so that should be ok for now but in the end i do need to start looking at an update / upgrade. thanks for the replies :good:

I'm doing a similar thing. I bought the Nexus 6p just before the OG Pixel came out. In fact I received it in the mail on launch day.
If I don't see any deals soon from Google, I'm just going to pick up a Pixel 2 XL in New/mint condition on Swappa. They're already dropping pretty low in price.

One plus doesn't work with Verizon.
I am waiting for a 7nm chip from Qualcomm and Supervooc to be implemented in Oneplus. Maybe Oneplus 7t . Replaced my battery 3 months back and it works fine for now. I cannot live without HDR+ though. Google has really spoiled us.
I also keep wondering what to replace my 6p with.... But I just went ahead and put a second new battery in today... There's life in this 3 year old yet!
If someone came out with a flat screened phone as to have tempered glass screen protectors properly functional again, I might go for that...

I sold my Nexus 6P and buy a Xiaomi Mi A2, I'm so happy with this new phone and now I got Android 9 Pie (Beta)
This is an affordable phone, nice specs and takes fine photos and I love the stabilization of the videos.

For me too, but Pixel are very expensive and the current desing is not good (in my opinion), because the normal is small and the XL is very ugly with this notch.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 is an Android One mobile, in this month I got the november patch the same day that Pixel and Nexus. For security patch is faster.
At this moment I get Android 9 Pie (beta) and in the end of this month the stable version will be released. I know, Pie is on Pixel some months ago, but for affordable phone only wait 3 months to get Pie and is not too bad, other expensive phones take same or much more time to get it.

I was looking at the OnePlus 6t as well, as on of our IT techs just got it, however it doesn't work on the Sprint network either
I am looking at the Poco F1. The development on it is thriving. More active than N6P.
I just ordered my OnePlus 6T. Should arrive on Monday
It was a pleasure to flash ROMs alongside you gentlemen. I'll see some of you on the 6T forums ?
Ended up with OP 6T too. At a certain point I got fed up with constantly comparing specs and went with good overall performance and reasonably standard Android. Not happy at all with losing 3.5mm jack but there's the adapter and so be it.
I frankly fail to see why nobody offers a flagship phone with Android One.
Currently in the same boat. Im about to jump ship from Verizon to Total Wireless (I know, same network but at least its much cheaper)
The OnePlus 6T can apparently work on Verizon as long as you contact Verizon and make sure they set it as a "CDMA Less device".
Not sure how i could make that happen if Im on Total Wireless. Backup plan is a 2XL or 3XL. 2XL only because the main dev on ABC ROM just got a 2XL so its guaranteed to be ported. 3XL development not sure how long that will take.

7T Pro vs 7T Pro McLaren Edition vs Pixle 4 XL

HI!
I am "buying" new phone serval years now, now i am decided i will buy new phone in a week
I am leaning towards oneplus (i am stile oneplus one user, since the begining)..
I would like to hear your opinion, which one of this three is best? 7T pro, Mclaren Edition (is it worth 100 bucks more for this one) or google 4 Pixle XL
tnx for help guys
Unless camera is a must, OnePlus is definitely the way to go.
This year's pixel was very disappointing
OnePlus 7 T Pro should be a great 1st OnePlus device! Cheers
Apart from the esthetics, dont think that 12GB RAM is gonna be noticeably better.
I would prefer Pixel 4 XL 128gb if its has reasonable price, better design, minimum of 8gb ram.
hmmm
tnx for respond..

I agree Pixel has better software for camera (better pictures) but lets say oneplus 7t doesnt have so bad photos?
For now, i am leaning towards normal one plus 7T pro

thats what i like to hear
I agree that the Pixel 4 cameras are the only real "better in class" feature over the Oneplus 7t. The 7t will likely get a GCam port eventually, but it may not have every camera feature that the Pixel 4 has. Everything else on the 7t beats what's available on the Pixel 4, including the price.
Unfortunately, for me the camera is probably the most important feature on a phone. So I'm waiting till Black Friday to see real "hands on" reviews of both phones and hopefully catch one or both of these phones on sale before I make my final decision. If I find a good deal, I'll upgrade and give my wife my 3a XL as it's time for her to get a new phone. If not, she'll likely get a 3a herself. The 3a series has been a great phone (but again, for me the camera is extremely important).

Hmmm i wouldnt say op7tpro has bad camera, maybe isnt as good as pixl 4 but it still very, very good?
Hi from 7T pro, I love it

I'm also enjoying my 7T Pro very much!
I would say that the camera's are very good now! Not bad at all!
In the past OnePlus was not very good, but with this 7T series they made big steps in the right direction.
Also the super macro mode is much fun to use.
I owned every type of Pixel XL up till now, still owning a 3a XL and there is not much of a difference with the 7T Pro.
These threads are absolutely pointless

HI All,
I may be a future covert to a One Plus from a Pixel 2 XL. Like many I too are disappointed in the Pixel 4xl roll out. I really thought they would make a phone to totally kick butt. But sadly no and it gets me thinking in the One plus direction. Since some of may be former Pixel owners , I need to know, besides the camera , what will I miss?? I'm all about performance. Will I miss the launcher? Active edge does nothing I like. I've written to Google to have the active edge set to answer the phone, like most phones used to when the has press home button. At least My Note 5 did. And that's the feature I miss the most.
Thanks for any reponses

Camara will be definitely missed. But OP 7T pro camera is not bad. It clicks decent pictures.
Launchers can be replaced. OnePlus launcher has a clean interface. You might miss the Google feed on stock launcher, but there are alternative launchers to get the Google feed.
Lift to answer on OP 7T pro is awesome. Just put your phone to ear and call is answered. You won't need active edge
Thanks, more great info!

Still no always on display then?

Oneplus said they were working on one months ago but here we have the 7t/7t pro and still no sign.
I am pretty sure given how capable the Oneplus devs appear to be that if they really were working on it we’d have it by now. So I am now assuming that really are not bothered. Personally it’s a feature I like a lot (LG even managed it with an LCD!) I’d just appreciate some honesty from Oneplus.
Sorry a bit of a rant but I’d so like to buy a OP 7t pro but this (plus maybe wireless charging too) are important features for me that so many other OEMs offer.
YMMV, thoughts?

They have been "working" on it since the oneplus 5. I had the five and also thought it was months from releasing it.

Where do I go from here?

I've changed devices several times from iPhones to Samsungs, to LGs & to Huawei (M9 & M10P).
Wanted to go for M20P or M20X but decided to hold off till next iteration cos my M10P is still excellent in looks & performance.
Now I want to move on (probably hand my M10P to my wife - she's not geeky & she's the "if it isn't broken don't fix" type).
Question is where do I go? I love cameras, powerful processors & gaming (PUBG, CODM, Assassin's Creed, N4S, Real Racing etc).
M30P isn't cutting it for me.
Xiaomi mi note 10 Pro would have been everything I need in a phone if the had SD855+ and also 90Hz/120Hz but alas!
ROG II is almost perfect but for poor cameras
Oppo Reno 2 Gundam edition is a good shout.
& a host of others like O+7P, BlackShark
What do you guys think?
I went to Mate 20 x. The huge screen and real stereo speakers are a blast for media consumption. Pubg plays awesomely. Updates are coming regularly, Android 10 is currently rolled out in Beta. Camera is fabulous.
Everything is smooth and stable and it's cheap. What more can you ask off a smartphone these days?

I just feel its not as powerful as ROG II (Barring camera). The difference in cost between the two base devices isn't much.
