Welcome, I have Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X Global. I've had my new phone for a week. Right after the first boot I updated it to MIUI 9, unlocked bootloader, installed root, exposed etc.
Everything was working fine without any problems. Today I wanted to try something new and I installed Resurrection Remix OS. Before it I took a backup with TWRP (through PC, I got backup.ab)
I was using the new rom for a few hours but then I realised that I preferred MIUI and I restored previously made backup (backup.ab). And here came the problems.
The device after restore came into a bootloop. Xiaomi logo appeared for a few seconds, then a single vibration, restart and the same again. After this I flashed (with MiFlash) a stock
firmware for my device from http://en.miui.com/a-234.html (the right one for sure) "Redmi Note 4X Latest Global Stable Version Fastboot"
Flashing through PC has always helped to unbrick devices but I don't know why in this case it didn't.
I can still enter fastboot mode and recovery so I flashed TWRP, made a full wipe with it, and installed:
-Resurrection Remix OS
-LineageOS
-recovery zip versions of MIUI (many versions)
After installing each of those I get the same result, a bootloop. I spent rhe last hours of trying everything in different combinations and looking for any information.
Can anyone help me with this problem, has anyone even faced something like that?

Well, try this method :
Download firmware.zip, Amy custom Rom, and Gapps.
Next, boot to TWRP and wipe (advanced wipe ~) wipe everything except internal storage or SD card.
Flash firmware.zip, followed by Rom and Gapps, Reboot.

If I recall right, I've had this same issue. So, do one thing download Recovery flashable Xiaomi stock miui Rom or download Xiaomi EU Rom, then as I said earlier boot to TWRP once again, wipe, advanced wipe > wipe everything > install stock miui > lazyflasher.zip >reboot. Lemme know how it goes.
LazyFlasher : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862700328
Flash lazyflasher.zip if you flash any miui Roms other than Xiaomi eu Rom before reboot.

I did exactly as you said, wiped everything, installed stock MIUI recovery version and lazyflasher.
No errors appeared but when I wanted to reboot my phone after installation I got an information that
no OS was installed.
I swiped right anyway to reboot and here comes the bootloop again. :/
EDIT: Tried with both stable and developer versions

It's red themed because I was currently using Red Wolf Recovery but I get the same results when I use cofface TWRP or original TWRP

Did you just "wipe" everything, or did you "format data" also? I suggest that you format the data partition (there is a button for this under the "Wipe" menu in TWRP), and then install your ROM again.
You need to install lazyflasher only once - after installing a custom Recovery. - but -you must do this each time you change your custom Recovery (but only do it once) - otherwise, MIUI will not boot correctly. Note that you do not need lazyflasher if you are using a custom ROM (eg, AOSP, etc).
I had a similar issue after installing Resurrection Remix then trying to go back to MIUI.
I used MiFlash to install a stable rom but got a boot loop after reboot.
In the end I flashed a stable rom using Miflash using the 'clean all' option. Then without rebooting I installed TWRP via adb. Booted straight into TWRP and installed the no_verify .zip. Then used TWRP to restore a nandroid backup I had on an OTG USB drive. It then booted without bootlooping. So I used Miflash to reinstall the stable rom with 'clean all' option again. Rebooted ok like a brand new phone.

Hi, I join the cause @ Pr3z3s. I have tried everything. And I still have the same problem. the only thing that occurs to me is that someone gives us a backup, please do upload it, and we try to restore it in our mobile.
can you tell me what kind of unable to mount or unmount errors you encounter when flashing? my guess is that some of your partition is corrupted

Those on the second screen I put in the previous page of this thread, like unmount of /firmware failed; no such volume
EDIT: I just tried restoring .ab backup through adb and an error while restoring EFS partition occurred so I flashed a stable ROM with MiFlash and took a backup of EFS partition.
Then I restored my backup again and after an error with EFS I restored it from a backup I had just taken - no errors appeared. Then I flashed lazyflasher and rebooted and still I'm in a bootloop.

here you go, my /firmware and /efs nandroid backup, seems like you have some trouble with efs as well so i included it , and to clarify things, my device is redmi note 4x MIDO 3gb/32gb edition running on cardinal aosp 5.1.1 12/10 with global miui v9.0.3.0 firmware, dont restore backup if you have a different edition because i don't know what will happen to your device . https://drive.google.com/open?id=1a8-tjbrkV8vNKaWcBsClbVlvBADinXSB
EDIT : I'm not confident that this will fix your device because it seems that either your /firmware is corrupted, or somehow disappeared .. do tell your results though , dont blame me if it becomes a hard brick ><

i removed my link because it seems that efs might contain device sensitive info like my IMEI and mac addresses, so dont restore my efs backup,it seemed to ended up spitting an error though. anyways, it seems that you are on TWRP , i backup-ed using redwolf, so that might result in the error, and yeah, dont restore my efs partition next try

Thanks, it works very well but I noticed an issue: when installing a ROM with this recovery, the ROM doesn't boot, displaying only the boot logo bit never starts
I think you should return to miui 7 then you can flash any rom .
I did same this
I hate to flash any from Miui MM.

Hey there,
I'm having repeated restarts after installing Cyanogenmod 13 (Snapshot) on my honor 5x, let me put you through the steps I followed.
First I unlocked my bootloader using adb/fastboot.
then flashed custome recovery(TWRP)
rooted my phone using SuperSU from TWRP
placed CM 13 and open gApps zip files on SD card
rebooted in recovery mode(TWRP)
selected wipe and swipe
then click on install
selected CM 13 zip file from SD card
swipe to flash
after process completed
wipe Dalvik/cache
then click on install
selected gApps zip file
swipe to flash
and then reboot
then when the phone reboots my phone shows the default honor boot screen and then Cyanogenmod boot screen
and then the phone restarts with a vibration
and keeps on repeating the process untill I restore my TWRP backup
Also I tried only installing CM 13(No gApps-thought it might be interrupting the system) and reboot
and installing gApps and clearing cache/dalvik and then reboot
I tried it many times but still the same issue
Please help me

I Think you should only Wipe Dalvik/Cache after you install both The Rom and the Gapps... Just install at the same time (The Rom and Gapps)
And Factory reset your System before you install the cynogen and gapps

What do you mean by installing both at the same time, do you mean selecting both zip files at once?
Also I factory reset my phone before I install cyanogen mod from within twrp and had my phone factory reset before rooting.
Also I've tried to install cm and gapps one by one and wiping dalvik/cache after both of them.
Please help

Do I need to factory reset again and Will this revoke my root access.
I'm asking this because of a reason...let me tell you what I've done.
I factory reset my phone, and then made a nandroid backup using twrp, then I flashed superSU using twrp, installed root checker biscuit said root access is installed properly. Then installed cm 13 and gapps, when that didn't worked, I restored my nandroid backup that I made before rooting, and when I checked from root checker, it was saying the phone is not rooted.

You made a nandroid backup before root so when you restore it is not rooted ( normal ).
What version of stock do you have before flashing cm13 ? If b360, you have bootloop, under b360 shall be no issue.
What i do to flash:
1/ wipe factory reset
2/ advance wipe cache,dalvik,system,data
3/ install ROM
4/ install gapps (arm64)
5/ wipe dalvik/cache
6/ reboot system
To have root, you need to flash supersu ( after gapps ) or alone after first setup of ROM and gapps.
But most of ROM have root built inside, just need to go to options for dev under settings and select app for root

You do know that the other roms share the same sources as cm13 right ? And that a snapshot isn't that more stable than the other roms, it's pretty much a placebo effect, anyway your phone, your call.

There's the final build of RR or crdroid or any other you really should try yourself and see because like I said they all share the same sources
as for what I said about the snapshot, yeah it is stable and is supposed to be bug-free but what I mean is at this point every other rom is as much stable as that snapshot, try by yourself and see.

Brother don't be afraid, what matters is the absence of bugs not the tags "official" or "unofficial" your are not gonna break your device (unless you are doing something stupid) and if you want an example to be assured just look at all the users in XDA, they are all rocking nightly builds on their phone, some of them use "betas" and some others use even "alphas" so don't let that Stop you, and if you have a nandroid backup what would you lose ? If you don't like it you get back to your stock rom, don't let your fear prevent you from the sweetness of custom roms.

Were you on volte firmware before coming to custom rom??
So my problem began when i flashed eu rom latest version my setup was:
TWRP offcial 3.1.0-0
/data and /cache F2FS
previously running android 7.1.2 (Nitrogen OS)
And Franco Kernel and even before that i used MIUI 8.2.20 with ZCX and ext4 patrtions
Flashing EU rom i got a weird intro screen username and password asking to validate the phone (NOT MI ACCOUNT IT WAS AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE BOOT)
so i gave my mi account credentials and then nothing so after i that i put my phone away for 15 days.
So yesterday after 15 days my exams ended i edl flashed my phone and then i install miui 8.1.6.0 and then updated to 8.2.3.0 and then i was good and running the s8 theme but within that span i started missing NOS so flashed ZCX Backed UP MIUI 8.2.3.0 and then i flashed Offcial TWRP no probs flashed absolutely fine and then i restored my backup of my rom before i went EU $#!T and i restored upon booting it asked for password i then remebered that miui encrypts the /data patition so i formatted /data and then i thought of restoring the /data partition and then it would stop at copying a certain partition and i would wait for a long time and then i ejected the phone from the computer but still i was not able to delete or do anything in the /data partition as if it is read only partition UPON DELETING ANYTHING I GET "RM -RF ERROR" I AM FLASHING ROMS SINCE 2010 WITH GALAXY S AND I NEVER FACED A ISSUE LIKE THIS !!! i completely freaked out i thought of doing something so i formatted /data and it would get stuck there forever!! because of this i had to flash miui through edl 4 times until i gave up and installed miui and then just installed NOS and Gapps then nos unroot, magisk and at last franco r5 as i didn't had the r6 version then after booting up i restored all my apps from titanium backup and i good to go..........
UNTIL THEN FK Manager Auto flashed r6 version of franco and then AS I REBOOTED I FOUND WIFI NOT WORKING SO I CHECKED MAC ADDRESS IT WAS 00:00:02...... I WAS COMPLETELY SHOCKED I THEN CHECKED BASEBAND IT WAS 'UNKNOWN' I WAS LIKE i was trying to restore modem i got "extractTarFork() process ended with ERROR: 255 " then now i am flashing miui thorugh EDL i will update u all soon...
BUT WHY IS THIS HAPPENING WHY I AM NOT ABLE TO TO NOS WITHOUT DOING ANY $#!T I LOVE NOS AND I WANT TO INSTALL IT AND ALSO CONVERT TO F2FS AND OFFICIAL TWRP PLEASE HELP IN DOING SO!!!!
Wipe everything first of all.
Flash nos
Flash gapps
Install apps from play store.
Forget about the backup. It may not be compatible with latest builds. Too many code mashups. Starting fresh is always considered best option
Flash latest firmware.
Done. Enjoy.

Forget about the backup. It may not be compatible with latest builds. Too many code mashups. Starting fresh is always considered best option
Flash latest firmware.
Done. Enjoy.

I started having issues flashing ROMs and restoring backups after updating to the official TWRP 3.1.0.0 and 3.1.1.0
It sounds stupid and paradoxical but the previous 3.0.2.0 (or something) I used (not even sure if it was the official one) was faster and trouble-free in my experience. Don't know why nobody mentions this in the TWRP thread.

Yeah u all are correct something wrong with latest versions of twrp. Anyways i am up and running my rn3 again thanks for all ur help..!! Good night
Hi,
I was installing the lIneage OS 14.1 Mocha and I came across a strange problem. The TWRP and TWRP img installed well, but when I wiped Cache and system and tried to install the Lineage os 14.1 rom, it failed and I was left with a MiPad without an OS. I guess it failed because I did not partition the system before I installed the Rom.
The tablet is turned off and I am not sure hot to get to the recovery of what to do to install a ROM. Could someone please help me with what to do next
Hold Vol up + power button till you see the Mi screen to get to recovery. Go to http://en.miui.com/download-229.html and download Xiaomi's official stock ROM.

Sorry, I've no clue what the issue is. I noticed that the ROM seems to be on the external SD, maybe try putting it on the internal might fix it? Or maybe or can try to flash mocha_repartition_stock, wipe, and then flash the stock ROM?

the problem is i am unable to flash any file as it gives 'unable to mount /system' error. The system partition shows 0 size. Should i first repair it?

Maybe you can try flashing/re-flashing the partition scripts? Or try flashing http://en.miui.com/thread-328108-1-1.html instead, it's a slightly more up to date version of the ROM.
Why do you "restore" when trying to flash?

Have you tried wiping everything?
Which rom are you trying to flash? (by whom, I mean)
Did you confirm re-partitioning was successful?

Hi,
I'm struck on MI logo. I'm on TWRP 3.1.1-0. I've installed miui_MIPADGlobal_V7.3.1.0.KXFMIDD_0d8dcf2bc3_4.4.zip, AOSPExt ROM, AICP, RR ROM but every time it struck on MI logo. All the ROMs are flashed smoothly without any error. I waited for some 30 min but nothing happened. I tried flashing via MIflashtool using flashboot rom but in MIFlash tool it showed 'error: Mismatching image and device'.
Please guide me.

Did you flash stock miui_MIPADGlobal_V7.3.1.0.KXFMIDD_0d8dcf2bc3_4.4.zip using TWRP 2.8.4?
11. Your Mi Pad now boots into TWRP 2.8.4
12. In TWRP select ‘Wipe’ and choose ‘Cache, Data, System and Dalvik Cache’
13. After wiping, press ‘Install’ and flash the ‘Repartition_MI_Pad_1_2GB_zardMi3.zip’
14. Your Mi Pad boots back into TWRP as no OS is installed
15. Install miui_MIPADGlobal_V7.3.1.0.KXFMIDD_0d8dcf2bc3_4.4.z ip (there will be an error, just ignore it and let it finish). Reboot. Wait 5-10 minutes. The MIUI welcome screen will appear, complete the setup.
16. Install DiskInfo from Play Store to confirm your repartitioning was successful.

hi i tryed to convert my redmi note 4x to global when flashing with mi flash tool i did it without clean and after that firmware finish installing but got stuck in bootloop now i flashed twrp and tryed to flash custom rom but again bootloop when i check my storage it shows 9gb now when its actual is 32gb i think i disturbed partitions any solution available?
Are you able to boot into TWRP?? If not flash TWRP first using fastboot.
Once you have access to TWRP boot into it and perform a full wipe (System + Data + Cache + Dalvik + Internal Storage). Perform a format too after wipe to be on the safer side. Now copy a custom ROM or MIUI ROM to your Internal Storage or SD card through a computer. Once copied install your ROM.
If you flashed custom ROM flash Gapps after flashing ROM. Reboot.
If you flashed MIUI, flash lazyflasher after that(or phone will be stuck at MI logo). Reboot.
You can find download links for lazyflasher here on XDA or you can google it too.

@ArK96 is right but the only thing i suggest is to, flash miui and lazyflasher first so as to properly set up the initial firmware, and partitioning. After miui boots properly, you can do anything you want. :highfive:

Go here and download the Global Stable worldwide release version firmware.
Boot into twrp wipe and format everything. Also after that reflash TWRP again using fastboot.
Once reflashed boot into TWRP and again perform a full wipe and format, then install the downloaded firmware zip. After that reboot TWRP and try flashing MIUI.

Yes. Red wolf is more MIUI friendly, it is made with OTA survival in mind. But your issue is that the ROM is not getting flashed. You can try what I said above about TWRP reflash, if it doesn't work you can go ahead and try redwolf. REDWOLF is nothing but modded TWRP, base code is still TWRP.
