Sorry, but no, it happens because of your hardware, x10 mini Pro camera is very good, but still not enough to capture in HD. Fox example my friend has X10 and its 8.1mP so he spoke me he can capture in HD. Its because of his camera (8.1 )

It's because our phone don't have the power to encode video in HD the camera resolution have nothing to do with video recording.
For example some tablets (xoon) or phones (galaxy R) have 5mp camera and record video in HD.

Sorry for my ignorant answer
VGA 640x480 is the highest possible.
As it has been said before, the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro simply don't have enough power to encode video in 720p and higher.
Just an idea... What about saving the raw video stream and encoding it on a pc... (yeah i know it takes a lot of space.)

Not sure what class of sd card you'd need, but the mb/s could still be greater than even class 10 could handle! HD raw is a lot of bits a second.

most probably no
to check just play a 720p(mp4) on arcmedia ,it lags alot
i think it might be possible to record vid on lower framerate(15 or lower)...
Edit1
it has nothing to do with megapixelzz eg:web cams have 2mpx with 720p
For me, X10mini & mini pro is enough powerful to record 720p because many less powerful Samsung or other featured phone can record HD. Also camera does not matter cause iPod touch has a VGA camera which is capable to record 720p at 30FPS. It is just about kernel & camera driver. It is not impossible but may be it is very difficult.

I think you are missing something....by power, i assume, u'r tryin 2 point 2wards "processing" power????...were did you find a cell with less than 600Mhz processing power and YET encoding 1280X720 videos???????!!!!!!!!!....it is just plain impossible......can u site any example to prove me wrong, please??????

is there any video player which plays 720p videos??
My media player only uses a 400mhz processor and 256mb RAM and can encode HD video from either DVB (already encoded to be fair) or analogue RGB input... However, the processor is geared towards media processing, in fact it was built to do that and that alone, if it was asked to render a simple vga 3D game it would probably output 1fps if anything at all!
Some processors are designed for specific tasks which they can do remarkably well, others are design to do many things but not quite as well. Software does play a mighty big part but it cannot overcome the constraints of the hardware in question.
Maybe other phones with HD recording have an inbuilt subprocessor or utilize functions inherant in Arm 7 but not Arm 6.. it might be possible to emulate the functions but the results might not be great.

ITS very very very difficult
but nothing is imposible
see this:::

I don't think that processing power is the limitation here for higher quality recording. This is what SE used to say for froyo or gb and it's plain crap proven repeatedly.
The problems are:
a) the sensor, i.e. is it capable of higher res. for video recording? 5mpixels are more that enough for 720p (i.e. like the N1) but there's more than the mpixels in the camera sensor to be able to do more.
b) we don't have kernel support for anything more than VGA. And this is sensor specific. If we ever got lucky and another msm7x27 device used this sensor and had better resolution we might have been able to investigate if it's usable.
c) we can't load custom kernels (this stops any other thoughts for the time being).

My friend, by the term "powerful" I meant the processing power too. If it is possible with Omnia HD's 600MHz then it is possible with 600MHz too. I have modded my old Motorola E2 which have a 1.3MPx camera & now I am able to record 720p at 17Fps with that. I just worked with kernel, because E2 runs linux & android is also using linux kernel I think it is possible. I am currently working on that. Let me see If I can prove you wrong

buddy, dats da key point....we cannot yet load custom kernels
nd of omnia hd, or n8 or SE vivaz....dey r symbian. symbian is a lot "lighter" os dan android but as sed, processin power is not actually da problem....lets keep fingrz crossd
now that we have kernel support.. is HD video recording possible??
whats the easiest way to get 1080p on the atrix ? like is there a file we can flash it with ? Thanks
Not sure about a 1080p camera but there is 1080p recording for the Atrix on various roms. You could try the droid 3 camera.

is that a HD camara ?
You can't do 1080p properly on the Atrix yet. All current methods to "hack" this have been proven to be not 100% 1080p. Be happy with great 720p until Motorola releases an update enabling 1080p, (or "if" they release an update).
If you want to go ahead and use one of the current hacks, obviously nobody can/is going to stop you. Just be aware that 1080p recording is not currently capable on this device. It may say 1080p.................doesn't mean it is 1080p.
1080p playback was enabled with 2.3.4.

So, I updated to ICS and wanted to try out webtop on my HDTV via a micro HDMI cable I bought, it gets into webtop just fine but the issue is that it is at 600x800 resolution and I can hardly read the words, the resolution option in display settings is also greyed out so I cannot change the resolution, this also happens with mirror mode, is it a hardware related issue? I'm on the stock pshasiaretail ROM with root access.

Hi ahzhang,
I've notices the same 'issue'. The resolution is far far away from fullhd.
Unfortunatly i think there is nothing we can do about it.

Seriously? I remember seeing on moto's forums that this can output 1080p or 720p, I have also got it to 1080p once, not sure how I got it to work but it was sure damn full hd
I have tried too. I was able to enable the resolution menu and to set full hd 1080p.
But even if the final resolution is 1080p the phone starts with a very low resolution and the interpolates it to 1080p and sends it to the tv.
So I cannot see real 1080p photos or video or webtop.

Ciao Marco
With the Razr/Razr maxx we are in the same situation: webtop 3.0 is locked to max 1280x720. When I select 1920x1080 on my native FullHD 22" (same display I use for my home pc) I got a upscaled 720p->1080p which looks worst than when I select 720p (less blury)

Thanks, I will check it now.
Hi,
did anybody tried to read 2160p Main10 HDR videos on this new Tab S3. I'm using the Asus Zenpad 3 S10 Z500M which reads everything including H.265 2160p Main 10, and would like to swap to Samsung Tab.
Can any Tab S3 owner go to demo uhd 3d website and test some heavy 4k h.265 10 bits 60fps videos?
Also 2160p 60fps Big Buck Bunny h.264 video which is a very heavy one?
I just downloaded a few HEVC HDR 10 4k from that website and they all played perfectly
Thanks Lee82UK!
Did you try 60 fps H.265/HEVC Main 10 HDR videos?
Did you try them with MX Player in SW, HW or HW+?
Because it's the only way to know if the Tab uses hardware or software decoding? (Good is HW or HW+)
Did you also try the Big Buck Bunny H.264 2160p @ 60 fps?
This one is a real hard one, but this type of encoding is of no interest today with H.265 performances.

I tried the 'Big Buck Bunny' one for you. It was unsuccessful at playing it fluidly. Very jittery and unwatchable. This was with MX player on HW+
Thanks Jonathonalexander!
I was almost sure it didn't work.
I've tried this video on a lot of tablets, ARM and X86 SoC, and it was always the same. The bit rate is too high for those systems. Only Quad Core PC can handle this.
QUESTION: Did anyboby tried to read LG_NASA_HDR.MP4 video on demo uhd 3d website WITH Tab S3?
QUESTION: in which format are Tab S3 QHD videos recorded? H.264 or 265?

The 60fps NASA HDR was one that I tried, it played great. I was playing them with the built-in (Samsung) video player.
The S3 UHD videos are recorded in H.264.
Hope this helps
Great!
Thanks Lee82UK!
Yes it helps!
And it's usefull to anybody who have to make a choice.
QUESTION: How is battery draining while in stand-by mode?
My ASUS ZENPAD 3S 10 Z500M is loosing 1% every 2 to 3 hours, and my TAB S2 SM-T713 1% every 5 hours.
Hi.
I got my Tab S3 2 days ago.
I've tested with MX PLAYER all heavy HEVC HDR videos, 10 bits UHD 2160p @60fps, and of course all other formats and bitrates.
EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT. All in HW or HW+.
Even the AVC h.264 UHD 2160p @60fps "Big Buck Bunny" works perfectly and fludly in HW+ (jonathonalexander told it didn't work fluidly???).
This Tab S3 is a must!
Also tested European version of Galaxy S8 with Exynos 8895 and it's able to read excatly the same video files as Tab S3 with absolutly no jitter.
Both Tab S3 and Galaxy S8 claim to work HDR file formats and it's true.
Hi,
I'm considering on buying the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4. I was wondering if it can playback HDR10 videos correctly, without having washed out colours. I know the display isn't HDR certified, but was thinking it might do some kind of tone mapping from HDR > SDR like the Xiaomi Mi Box.
Thanks
Don't Buy
Don't buy if you need only to play HDR videos, because it doesn't support
