my phone gets root access from pre-rooted custom roms. when i first rooted my phone i used super one click. after switching from comfortstock rom v3 to adrenaline rom, i still get the superuser icon. however, i am unable to directly delete files using root explorer, copy or even move files from and into system app. when i look into init.d folder, i am unable to see permissions. in titanium, i cant see the memory usage for a2sd. what can i do to get it back?
Reflash the rom......
You know you are rooted when you use XDA more than FB

I already tried reflashing. However, perhaps there was something i did wrong. I did not do all wipes and stuff. Let me try reflashing it again. One more question, when I do restore via titanium, should i restore system apps and its settings? Maybe thats where I got this error from.
EDIT: all wipes, data, cache and dalvik, reflashed rom. was able to regain super user permissions. thanks all for the help. though still unable to see a2sd usage on titanium. but all is good.

Super User

Sorry new to Android and am learning so please be gentle....I rooted my Razr Maxx and once I finished I installed some apps and made sure I had root access. I read that it was a good idea that I due a factory reset so I did....after the reset was complete. I noticed the icon SuperUser was now missing. Do I need that Icon? Was there any additional settings I could access via it. If so, how do I get it back?? thanks.
When you make a factory reset, all the user apps (that means all the aplications installed in the /data partition, the apps that the user has installed and wheren't there when you bought the phone) and all the personal configurations of the system are erased. A factory reset leaves your phone just as the way it was when you first turned on. So, if your SuperUser.apk was installed in the data partition it sure will be gone. That app is needed to administrate which aplications get elevated acces to some system resources, so if it's not there it is like you have no root access. Some scripts used to root the phone push the superuser.apk to the System/app folder instead of data/app, so it's not deleted by a factory reset, but this is not your case as it seems... You could donwload the superuser app from google play, but I dont recommend it as I tried it once and it didn't work. I think you should try repeating the whole root proccess, and not making a factory reset after it, it was never necessary for me. Good luck!

Just do the entire rooting process again. If you do factory reset you will loose again your superuser.apk
You should be able to download the superuser app as the phone is still rooted. Try superSU, that's the SU app that installed when I rooted (eternity project easy root)
I did the same thing by mistake once & just downloaded the app & it worked like a charm.

Insufficient Storage Available

hi:
i use [ROM] UNOFFICIAL CM9 with working camera prev9
i know this h/b asked many times and i searched for an answer::
an app stopped working.. cleared cache from settings--no change..
reboot, cleared cache and delvik.. tried fix permissions also--no change..
uninstalled app / reinstalled app-- got error "Insufficient Storage Available"
looked for any ".com" references to the app--didnt see any
i have 219mb used and 1.3GB free internal storage ..
i also dont see setting to install to SD by default, just in case that would help..
i havent tried to install anything while on this latest prev9, i doubt thats the problem tho..
thanx for any help
You have to delete the .odex file related to that app usually in /system/app if not I'm pretty sure you can delete.odex files using Lucky Patcher

i uninstalled app, then looked for a related .odex file but found none
tahnx
Are you using something like root explorer? It may be in /data/app but I'm pretty sure the file manager had to be root enabled. You remember how sometimes in Windows you uninstall a program but the shortcut and folder are still there? You have to manually go in and delete those files yourself? That's giving you that insufficient storage issue. If all else fails, full wipe out wipe of system will put you clean again.

k, i did what you sugg'd:: did find a related odex and deleted it..
reinstalled from google play .. gave me the"unfortunately...has stopped" error..the same as my original prob that started my insufficient space error..
i guess im beat..
i ll probly have to wipe out and reinstall ..
i thought for sure a restore from nandroid wouldve helped tho..
thanx..

After you delete the .odex, just to be certain the app is restored to the pre-odex state, in Lucky Patcher > Long press troublesome app > Remove ODEX with Changes! (restore application).
Then, go into system/settings/applications/all applications/Google Play Store and hit 'clear data'. Reboot into Recovery > Wipe dalvik & cache (a tad redundant, I know), reboot into system.
If this fails, after clearing caches, try re-flashing Gapps.

thanx for the reply.
i did fresh install including prev9.. i now do nandroid backup of that clean, naked install -- nothing else installed..
i will do a nandroid restore of a previously working backup and try all you
suggest..
i dont know if there is more current version of gapps than "gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip", but i ll find out find what i need
thanx again

I stumbled across an application that should rectify your issue:
Amaze Memory Clear
Give it a shot if you are still having that issue. Report back, too - I'm kinda curious, myself.
that extra step you took was really great of you.. i will try it..
EDIT::
i found an obscure workaround for my original prob.. install ol file manager.. dont have to change anything.. just have it installed..
it did fix the stopped working problem..
so i reverted to my nandroid prev9 backup , installed ol file manager on this backup and everything works as before..
i did installed your memory clear app and it found quite a bit of space after i cleared apps cache and recovery mode cache and delvik..
so altho i dont know if it wouldve fixed my original prob, i do know it frees up alot of space...
really , i would bet against it fixing that prob cuz i had alot of space .... i didnt have much installed..
thanx for the tip

Factory reset merely deletes cache and user data. It does not touch the system partition.

cut off the wake up paths, apps became non functional, deleted greenify, problems.

I cut off the wake up paths of many apps, which ade them non functional. Instead of re joining wake up paths, which would have been a time consuming, I considered reinstalling Greenify.
But the apps still not working. I did stock restore, reinstalled the apps but not working, always showing error '<app name> has stopped'. I am using magisk. Xposed framework not installed. What to do, please suggest?

Normally an uninstall of Greenify coupled with clearing of its data and cache and a reboot should solve the problem. But if you are reinstalling Greenify, the previous settings of Greenify stored in your PlayStore account will be revived. So don't reinstall Greenify till you delete the backup in your account.
A clean flash of your ROM after wiping system and data (excluding internal storage) should suffice.

In fact this may be the only way to restore full functionality as it's unlikely you will be able to meticulously restore all severed wake up paths without detail records. Simply uninstalling Greenify with NOT restore the broadcast receiver links as you discovered.

I first tried this only (before restoring stock), uninstalled Greenify (using android, not with external app), then used SD Maid and finally rebooted. This didn't fixed any app.
I even tried reinstalling all the apps not working, even the system apps. All the apps for which I didn't cut off wake up paths are working normally.
Then I installed Greenify again in hope that all previous settings get restored but no, if that would have happened I would have reattached the wake up paths.
As you are suggesting to wipe system and data and then flash rom, but why restoring stock is not working. Because after that all system file restored, all system app s back to their initial state. Not working app reinstalled. Everything is now normal. Can you or any one else tell me, what Greenify do or changes while doing the cut off?
Actually, I don't want to wipe my phone again, I did that just 1 month ago, because of bricking my phone?

See my previous response. Greenify cut offs disable the path to the relevant broadcast receiver (Receiver Manager in SD Maid). You could try to reenable items individually in MAT or SD Maid but which ones? Without a history of receivers cut off in Greenify you'd only be guessing and would likely make matters worse. Uninstalling and reinstalling an app will usually restore the paths. Updating an app usually won't.
Can't speak as to why "restoring stock" didn't work. Depends what you did and the method used to perform the restoration.
