Can I use my phone to charge my Moto 360? - Moto 360 2015

I have an Essential Phone with usb-C that can power other devices. So I was wondering - if I had the right connectors, would it work to charge my watch with my phone?
Anyone tried this before?

Haven't tried with that specific setup, but yeah, it's doable. Get a QI charger that has a USB-C Port (may be hard to find?). It would also need to be one that supports USB-PD.
It's possible, but I don't know if the hardware exists to do it.

[Q] USB OTG works well with ICS, HOWEVER...

However, is there any way possible to charge your phone WHILE using the OTG adapter? They both use the 1 micro port on my phone, but I need to find a way to charge the phone while using the OTG adapter.....perhaps a micro USB splitter-type adapter?????
I was actually wondering about this myself, though I don't think a splitter-type cable would work. I'm wondering if the power connection is on separate pins than the data, though...if they don't share space then I'd think it would be possible in some fashion.

A similar problem is showing up regarding using the mhl port to output to hdmi. Though the original information indicated that the power cable was supposed to charge the phone it seems it does not on the first version (super DUMB).
I have read though that the newer version of the mhl port is 10 (I think) pins rather than the 5 of the original. The newer port DOES allow charging while output is in operation.
I suspect this will also allow an OTG cable that charges while in use.
I am not so sure about the mhl idea anymore. Only one port for everything is ok if it has enough pins/bandwidth to have a breakout box that would allow an external usb drive to be read while hdmi is being output to a screen and power is supplied to the phone. As it is now with only one-at-a-time it isn't very inspiring as the phones get closer to the power of laptops.
What would be really neat would be a box with wi-fi, and the output to hdmi and usb ports as well. A wireless breakout box. Then the charger could be over by the phone which is near the user.

Oh... I found a useful diagram here.

Magnetic usb cable

Hey guys!
I was thinking about geting a magnetic cable for my OP5, they seem greate for beeyng very practical to use and in theory helping to expand the device's usb port life.
So with that in mind, does anyone have any ideia if...
1- Is there a 4A magnetic usb C cable compatible with dash/vooc?
and
2 - is there any chance that using a magnetic cable would cause damage to the phone?
Nope no dash charge just slow/about 1A. Don't think slow charging would kill your phone. I use em all the time and have had no problems this far.
Same here, I have a micro-usb magnetic connector for my smartach and another magnetic type-c for a tablet and both can't deliver more than 1A , but they are indeed very handy !
Hey guys just found a 4.3A cable, the problem is that its made for notebooks which means the connector is L shaped.
here is where to buy: https://www.banggood.com/Baseus-Magnetic-90-Degree-4_3A-Type-C-to-Type-C-Fast-Charge-Data-Cable-1_5M-for-S8-Xiaomi-6-Macbook-p-1179421.html

Hmm i says that it can support S8 too.
Only problem i see is that the USB C charge part needs to stay in the phone, and the other part is magnetic.
Not really convenient i think..

It won't work with Dash Charge anyway.. You need their cable with their charger otherwise it won't work,I haven't seen any 3rd party accessories that supports Dash Charge

That's kind of the whole idea that makes it convenient, not having to plug the cable. But yeah you do have to always use a case to cover it.

Ok the Charger i get but the cable, are you sure?
Is there something else about the OP stock cable besisdes the amount of juice that it can put thru? (considering that that ports a usb-c on one end and usb on the other)
I always thought that there wasn't any other cable compatible because before apple put a usb-c charging/data port on macbook there was no market for a 4A cable apart from Oppo and Oneplus.

Yes I'm sure, there is a ton of sites that explains Dash Charge. I Think they put some microchip inside so OP phones can check the compatibility and allow the 4A charge
Edit: There is some article that states that you need their cable
Does anyone know where I can buy something like this, except for usb c?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/112306...D711-117182-37290-0%26rvr_id%3D1289648401373&
I do NOT want the entire cable. I just want an adapter so I can use my existing cables.
Never mind, just saw the kick starter. But I only need charging.

Quoting the part of the article that talks about the cable "they won’t be compatible with the high current that’s supplied to the device".
So if the current is the only reason... than i believe it could be compatible sense it hits the 4A spot.
Compatible or not the seller/manufaturer will only ship the cable once it hits 200 pcs sold mark, which is pretty far from the current 42 pre-orders. That's too bad i was actualy willing to buy and test it if it wasn't for this.
Any news regarding this?

Necro-Reply....but has anyone tried this. Seems to be an Adapter for Magnetic connection. So what if we used this along with the Dash Charger and Cable?

Question about the USB C port - S9+

hi guys
when i plug in the charging cable to my s9+, the cable can go a bit up and down inside the port
is it the same on your devices? is this normal? if yes, how much movement is considered acceptable? my phone is charging normally and the movement doesn't seem to affect it in any way
i mean, it cannot fit super-tight and not move at all, right?
there isn't any dirt/lint inside the port since the phone is only one month old
any reply is appreciated!
Same here. But sometimes the phone would not detect the cable. However, I'm using cheap Chinese cables. Worst case scenario, at least we have wireless charging

why aren't you using the cable that came with the phone? did it break or something? is it working normally when you use the original cable?
how much of a force is needed to make the usb port wiggle when you drop it while plugged in?

USB OTG while charging?

Apologies in advance if this has already been asked and answered.
I'm interested in using my USB-powered DAC to send an optical audio signal into my digital signal processor in my Jeep. The obvious problem I face in doing this is HEAVY battery drain.
I used to run a 2nd generation Nexus 7 tablet as my head unit in a previous vehicle, which could power by USB DAC while charging with the use of a Y-cable. This doesn't seem to be the case with my S9+.
Do any of you know of a way that I can achieve this with the S9+?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Just thought of something...
I'm guessing I could use the DeX dock to charge while using the DeX's USB port to power the DAC. That SHOULD work. Alternatively, perhaps I could wirelessly charge the S9+ while powering the DAC via OTG. Either application (if they work) would only prolong battery life, as I imagine the drain would be greater than the charge.
Anyway, still wondering if there's a way to get an old-fashioned charge while using OTG with a Y-cable or similar (powered USB hub?).
Bump. Curious if anyone has had any luck with this. Thanks in advance!

i dont think youre going to have much, if any, luck on this man. USB type C is kinda weird like that. There isnt even a jig for type c like there was with micro. Im following this one too.
There are aftermarket devices available that provide you the capability of using a USB along with a charging port and a HDMI output. I have tried it myself using a mouse and charger while connected together with the phone..... You could give it a try. That should work and is inexpensive too. I bought one and still use it sometimes for my Dex needs.

Question ANYONE KNOW WHY MY GOOGLE SUPPLIED USB 3.0 TO USB-C ADAPTER (DATA TRANSFER TOOL) WON'T ALLOW DEVICE TO CHARGE IF PLACED IN THIS SCENARIO?

I really need to call my Doc and schedule my next lobotomy, cuz this isn't making sense. Why is Google's adapter different from one I kept back from one of my many Samsung handset purchases?
If anyone knows the answer to this hardware riddle, or has had a different experience with their OEM supplied "Data Transfer Tool" , I'd love to hear about it before I have this procedure done! (ty)
When you plug a USB into the pixel, doesn't it have the option to choose to charge from device in a notification shade?

Negative, or at least mine doesn't. But the Samsung adapter I've had since selling my SM-N975U1 (Note10 Unl.) does let the charge happen with no hassle. Also, I try think this might be one of our fixes forthcoming (I hope) under a blanket USB-C fix? My Pixel 5a (5G) had no issue with the Google adapter for charging as I recall.
If you're talking about the adapter that came in the box (male C to female A), the USB-A cable you're using could be the problem. Even when cables have pinouts for pass-through power they don't always work for all devices. This article explains how the Pixel 6 is more fickle about charging, which also hints at why you don't see the same problem on a Pixel 5a.
Thanks for the link...I knew my 5a adapter allowed the charge, so my issue may be broader as I was using my Google supplied cables. Wonder why the G-Whiz kids couldn't accommodate us on a more universal adapter as they didn't spring for throwing in a power supply on the Pixel 6 Series deal?!
What's that little birdy, what did you say?chirp..cheap..cheap!
Did you not want to use the USB-C cable that came with your phone? Or you didn't have a charging brick that has USB-C?
No, it charges fine with the supplied OEM cable, it's just I've never used one before that was made to be so task specific. I thought (until now) they were all made to be multifunctional like my Samsung model is.
