Samsung Free AKG Wireless Headphones Promotion - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

So Samsung just started a new promotion today that gets you a free pair of AKG Wireless on ear headphones with the purchase of a new Galaxy n8, since, or s8+. I myself just purchased my phone this past friday and got my phone yesterday. So I called customer service to inquire if they would honor the promotion and send me a set and I was told "it is not possible and we are even instructed to not make an inquiry about it"
Unfortunate news to say the least and I'm considering returning my phone and ordering again just to take advantage of the promotion, but has anyone else had any luck if they're in a similar situation now or in the past with other promotions?
Thanks

Compensation

I waited most of this year for the Note 7 to be released.
I've not been able to use the phone properly for most of September (had to leave it at home during a holiday where it would have been great to use the camera). Had the phone crippled to 60% battery. Had to pack up and exchange the phone. Have bought two cases (one temporary while official Samsung LED case came into stock), a wireless fast charger and signed up to a year long SIM only contract.
There is nothing on the market that makes a half decent replacement. There is absolutely nothing that covers all of the features and functionality.
We (in the UK) await Samsung's offer to rectify this.
If as is rumoured we are to be offered a full refund or an S7/S7Edge plus a refund of the difference then I find that utterly unacceptable. I could have bought an S7 Edge when it came out, I didn't want one. I certainly don't want one now when it's due to be replaced in less than 6 months time. I absolutely don't want one at full retail price.
So here is a proposal to Samsung. Sell me a S7 Edge at HALF price with the promise to buy it back and exchange it for an Note 8 when it is released next year. Refund the cost of all my accessory purchases.
As for the Gear VR (now rendered useless), I've no idea what to do with that.
someone need to make a petition for everyone urging Samsung to do the right thing. I can't use my Note 7 anymore and stuck in a 2 yr contract. I am willing to take the S7E for now but they should sell the Note 8 to us who had the Note 7 at a discounted price.

100% this. I want the option to use an S7 or similar until they've released a successor and allow me to take that up when it's available!
From what I've heard, people can exchange it for an s7or get a full refund for the device from contractor or the place you bought it from

That's the story that I've heard from a few sources. However it's hardly compensation is it.
I'm sorry for messing you about for the last month, I'm sorry that you will have to wait a year for a proper replacement, I'm sorry that you will have to pay FULL PRICE for a phone that you don't really want as a replacement. ETC. And for all these sorries we get NOTHING.
Not good enough.
Yeah but because they locked bootloader I had a T-Mobile version and I couldn't not Route 9 so like I said we can't bootloader locked I had to ship my T-Mobile one back to T-Mobile I got a full refund but then I purchased and international version so I could have came root but I had to purchase off of eBay. I paid the full amount through a store. But he is not holding the store accountable eBay not holding themselves accountable and Samsung cannot hold themselves accountable period Samsung will not give me a refund or help me out neither will eBay so at the time being I'm stuck

they are giving ppl 100 to stay pssssh
Accepting their replacement offer seems a total ripoff. The S7 Edge goes for 799€, the S7 for 699 in their online store over here in Germany, 200 € !! more than on Amazon.
I called Verizon, gave them all my note 7 receipts from Amazon and eBay like lens case, screen cover, 2 wireless chargers and they credited my account by the total amount. I am bringing in the VR to also get refunded. I get to keep the 256gb memory card and the wireless charger as the wife has s7 and can use them

Return status for 3rd party buyers?

It's been about 2 weeks since my first call to the note 7 recall hotline. I've made 4 calls total and finally on my 3rd attempt I was transferred to support in the US. I was given a ticket # and told that I would have a box shipped to me to return the device and should receive confirmation email from ups when the box was otw to me. I was told 10-14 after they receive the device they would issue me a check for $879.00, the retail price of AT&T variant which I have.
A week had passed and I haven't received any box or email so I called back today. Of course I got the outsourced call center again and had to go threw the whole process of explaining the 3rd party sale threw craigslist, giving imei, color, carrier, etc. She pulled up all my information and informed me that the case was still under review and would be escalated to higher ups. I should receive a call soon and please be patient.
At this point I don't know what to believe. Is my box coming, am I under review, and should I even send them my phone. I do know that the original owner is on the next plan and phone is financed but I have dealt with him on a few occasions and trust he pays his bill. I'm just concerned that I send Samsung my N7 and they run imei and it comes back as financed and I get screwed.
Has anyone else purchased the phone threw a 3rd party and successfully returned it? Or is anyone in the process of getting a refund from Samsung in the form of a check and went threw the hotline process. What's you guys return status or thoughts on my situation with phone being financed and me receiving a full refund at retail value?
I use the phone currently on cricket wireless if that makes any difference.
Answer to your question
The short answer is to have the guy you bought it from to take it in and exchange it at a corporate store ( an actual att store) because if you send it in they will run the EMIE and see that it is under contract with at&t and the oridional purchasser will get the purchase canceled off there att next and any money paid including taxes refunded to them. But they can take it in and exchange it for an S7 edge same phone no pen and the difference will be credited back to there next plan. Plus if you switch to an S7 edge they can get a $100.00 bill credit. I know it stinks but that is the only solution I found for the same issue. Also it has to be done at the store of purchase unless it's not a corporate store, in that case you and them or them can go to a corporate store and get it done. Hope that helps you......

I've been offered this option from the seller but unfortunately it's not to my liking lol, I actually traded my financed S7E for an HTC 10 US unlocked, then traded it for the note 7. I feel like I'm going in reverse especially with s8 coming out soon enough. At this point I'm gonna hold out and wait for the call from Samsung and ask them straight up about the whole next plan 3rd party sale and there reimbursement. If all else fails I'll go with him to AT&T and get a V20.
Still using mine for as long as I can.

Samsung Tmo Free VR promotion. Received Gear 360 instead.

Hello everyone,
I signed up for the Free VR promotion when I purchased my S8. About a week ago I was notified that my VR had shipped. When I got the package to my surprise Samsung had sent a Gear 360. I was not upset as I believed they had run out of VRs and exchanged it with a Gear 360. IMO it's more desirable than a VR anyways. Today I received the email below from Samsung. It is good to know that I can return the Gear 360 to them at no cost to myself LOL. I just wanted to post this to see if anyone has had a similar issue.
I got the Gear 360 delivered today as well! What if I don't return it I wonder.... I already sold it on eBay. I have not received an email from Samsung though
I received the camera too. I'm using it as a dash cam and it's fantastic. I'm glad they sent me the camera, I'll get way more use from the camera.
Yea the camera is a better gift and they are still sending VRs. The funny thing is my wife did the promo on the same day and only got a VR. Make sure to claim your Action Director so that you can edit video.

There isn't a whole lot that Samsung can do. They can politely ask for the camera to be returned. They could make the camera unregisteredable so that you cant use the editing software. They could send you a "bill" that you would not be obligated to pay...All though highly unlikely and probably close to being illegal they could ask T-mobile to bill your account as they have your IMEI. I wouldnt worry about the last one. I dont think Tmobile would allow that as they would lose costumers.
Dstu10, Samsung can actually do something. There is a law that says you can't be charged for unsolicited goods (You didn't order anything); but if you ordered something and received something else by accident you are obligated to call and return the item, or the company can legally charge you for the cost of the item.
We'll see, because like I said I sold the camera on eBay immediately and shipped it already. I've not received any email from Samsung..... Yet.
Hey how do you use it as a dashcam? What settings are u using?
Here's my thinking...
The terms and conditions say:

Claim Form within approximately 6-8 weeks after verification. No more than 75,000 Gifts are

So as the Gear 360 is of greater value, we can argue we thought they simply decided to upgrade us... And just send the VR back to avoid double gift?

Using the 60fps video recording with a 128gb Samsung card Evo plus (red one). I bought a small caseco core 360 stand from Amazon and peeled the rubber plastic piece off the bottom of the camera. Works perfect. On hot days, I leave my windows up and the AC on so it don't overheat.

Like you said we did not order anything....Nor would it be worth Samsungs time to collect $230 from me. They would risk bad publicity and/or upsetting someone that just purchased a $750 phone.

Sure, but they sent the VR to not upset people who expected a VR. Samsung could have easily cut their losses by not sending out VRs. I highly doubt they are expecting people to send the camera back.

Headset (AKG USB-C mic in-line headset) is missing in the box

I just received mine yesterday, August 10, 2010, ordered on August 6, Fedex took 4 days to deliver it on Expedited shipping (2-days). It's a great phone, love it. Feels good in hand, a little slippery, I fitted an araree z flip (2019) case and it fit perfectly. Amazing screen. Still in honeymoon phase. The only problem is I can't find a headset in the box. It's definitely missing. Got on a chat with a Samsung rep but he couldn't help, gave me a link which led me back to the original support page I had started from. Samsung is not known for providing excellent customer service but this is ridiculous. I paid $1400 for the phone and they gipped me.
Has anyone else have this issue?
Resolved: I opened a chat with Samsung Premier Service rep, according to him/her, only the original Z Flip gets the headset in the box. The more expensive and recent Z Flip 5G does NOT come with a headset! WTF??? Very disappointed. I remember seeing a headset in the image online, but I cannot be 100% sure. I think the rep may be mistaken or he's trying to get rid of my call by telling a lie. Samsung's much worse in the customer service department than Apple. They need to upgrade their service if they want to keep loyal customers like me. I won't be buying Samsung phones after this one.
EDIT: I also realized that the 5G version I received didn't come with a case; the original Z Flip box contained a 2-piece clear plastic case as well as an AKG-branded USB-C headset. This really sux. Samsung apparently made the decision to skip both items in North American versions of their new flagship phones.
@strider888
The accessories that come with the phone usually varies, depending on which market you're in.
I know that in the US, we usually get the short end of the stick & this phone is no different. T-Mobile's unboxing video confirms this, identical to your experience.
Yeah, I agree, they should include a set of buds & a case, as they did with the previous model.
I've seen articles mentioning that you can contact Samsung & they'll send you a pair of buds upon request. Not sure exactly what's entailed, probably nothing more than giving your Samsung account information/proof of ownership & a shipping address.
Here's an article from SamMobile on the subject, it's regarding the same on the Note 20, but, I imagine it'd apply to the Z-Flip 5G as well :

It says on the Samsung website the LTE version comes with the case and headset. It's clearly marked that that stuff is not included with the 5G.

when I was on the Samsung website in August 2020, there was NO mention of it (that they won't include earphones or the case), THEY SHOWED A PICTURE OF WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE BOX AND IT CLEARLY SHOWED A PAIR OF AKG EARPHONES AND A CASE.
The fact that YOU CAN NOW see the warning does NOT mean it was there in August 2020 when Samsung was heavily promoting the Flip Z 5G.
@TechOut, what are you trying to say? that I'm an idiot who didn't read the warning? that you are so great that you never miss anything and you never get scammed by big corporation in your whole life? Get the f*ck out. I hate people who add salt to other people's wounds.
Maybe you are not an idiot (discutable) , but definitely acting like one.
Chill a little.

Just to let you know, I called Clove today and they said that there's a problem with the distributor in the UK.
According to clove the distributor upgraded their software system and messed it up so the stock is stuck in their warehouse.
Apparently clove offered to go and collect it but the distributor said they would still need to mark the inventory as having gone out which they are struggling to do...
They are hoping for the phones to get sent out later in the week
I've got the refund from them now. In the end though I am returning the phone to Amazon, mainly due to the side buttons. I don't like them!
Two week delay on mine. Got an e-mail from Sony offering me a free 'cover' due to the delay. I'm in two minds to take them up on the offer.
Quote - '
Unfortunately we are facing delivery delays due to a technical issue in our warehouse. We are expecting a two week delay to your order. To thank you for your patience we would like to offer you the Xperia 1 III Cover, RRP £34.99, free of charge.'
Plus I got a Google Nest Hub 7" shipped to me by mistake instead of the headphones. I need those ear warmers. Winter is coming.
Well I've been using the mk3 for a bit next to my s21 ultra and one of them need to go back under the 14 day cooling period lol just don't know which one to keep
Must admit the mk3 display is great but not very bright compared to the s21 ultra even just playing hdr videos indoors
Cameras are both good (s21 ultra is amazing with zoom though)
Battery life seems better on the s21 ultra (even though I have the exynos variant)
Just something about the Sony in the hand and the software just feels better
Aahhhh need to make my mind up quickly lol
Good news, they beat the two week delay by three days. Going to retire my Poco F1. It served me well up until I broke the screen. It's still my alarm clock. I'm waiting on an update about my headphones from the shippers, I chased them up today and they are still looking into it. If I don't get anything satisfactory from them within a week, I'll calling Sony. The free cover with stand is out of stock but I think I'll pass on that.
Ordered mine from Amazon UK last week shipping between end of September to end of October
Anyone been in a similar situation and got theirs early?
Amazon had a few units ship direct from Sony. Everyone else was waiting on the distributor (either Exertis or Ingram Micro, not sure which) due to their IT system ****up which was spectacular. Clove were more patient than I would have been but I guess every wholesaler was in the same boat. A singularly unimpressive start to this phone launch, with stony silence from Sony UK. I received my unit from Clove last Saturday.
