I haven't had a Samsung device since S6 which i only had for 6 months at then got a Nexus 5X. Anyway does the root method work? do i just download odin and flash it? i forget how to mod Sammy devices
Haven't used ChainFire but https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...recovery-twrp-3-1-0-1-samsung-galaxy-t3581359 is easy and well explained, basically the same root as any other Samsung in the past long while as far as I can remember.

I'm waiting on my SGS3 to get delivered today, and I'm gonna root that sum'***** immediately.
I'm not new to rooting, but it's always been HTC before now.
The Chainfire root method using Odin, or the new Galaxy S3 Toolbox from mskip are my choices, correct?
Toolbox looks easier since it does everything for you, but are there any advantages/disadvantages to either method at this stage? I remember from my HTC rooting days that early methods were always improved upon as some early adopters bricked their phones and devs worked around more and more roadblocks they didn't realise were there in the first place. So it paid to wait a while until the method was 100% safe.
From reading the threads here it seems there is pretty much no risk?
Also is there a stock ROM (with root) that I can flash yet, to wipe away any rubbish that Three UK has added on?
I think easiest way to root is using CF-Root 6.2 (check out development forum)
The Galaxy Tools does the same. It only opens Odin and give you advice what to click
Trying to decide this also, think a new version of the toolkit is not too far off being released, any other thoughts on this ?
Does either method restrict you in any way for issues later on?
Thanks, im a Samsung newbie (coming from a rooted Desire HD)
Learn to use Odin, that way if your ever in a jam you will know what to do (plus its super easy!)
Thanks Lenny, going to take ur advice right away
Didnt take long to root with Odin & CF-Root 6.2
Had to dual boot to Windows 7 as the laptop running XP would not install the drivers (nor did I go looking for them) now for some fun
Thanks for the encouragement Lenny
alright so after searching both here and various other sites on this question i have found nothing very helpfull...
so at the risk of being told i need to search i have to ask. I have a ATT Galaxy note I717. I did get the OTA update to 4.0. I have not yet rooted my phone but im trying to do so. Mostly so i can flash t-mobile onto it for it work properly with my 4G.
So my question is. Were is the root process for a note that already has 4.0.
I followed other instructions here http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-note-sgh-i717-att-clockworkmod-touch-recovery-90018/ and here http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-gt-n7000-method-2odinheimdall/.
After installing such CMW Touch i can not get it to boot to recovery. Just goes into download mode and as welll as i do not have superuser or root acces on the phone. If any one knows where i can find the procedure to gain full root access so i may start playing around that would be greatly appreciated

The second link you provided was for the International Note. That may be the problem. Use the method here: http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-no...y-note-sgh-i717-icsgingerbreadeasiest-method/. I know for a fact this procedure works, as I have done it on my own Note no less than a dozen times due to the problem in my thread.
Good luck and happy rooting!
Devices:
Samsung Galaxy Note SGH-I717: Android 4.0.4, Stock, Rooted
Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 YP-G70: Android 2.3.5, Stock, Rooted
Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus 7.0 GT-P6210: Android 4.0.4, Stock, Rooted
Asus Transformer Prime TF201: Android 4.0.3, Stock
Asus Nexus 7, 16 GB: Android 4.1.1, Stock, Rooted
It says for ginger bread rooting. I am running 4.0 and do not wish to go back to 3. Will i keep my current 4.0 with that method or will it be flashed back to ICS
nvm do appologize,,, just caught my own noob mistake... lol
seeing that you have used this method before... when i go to flash the zip file it gives me an error and says it fails... yet i have super user and root acces on the phone now?
You don't have to root your phone to flash a modem. You don't need to have CWM to flash a modem either.
You can install the modem using Odin3 and your pc.
Agreed ....
Thank you ranger ....g
Hi,
I have a fresh , not upgraded Galaxy S6 Edge in its box.
Currently I use my S5 rooted without any issues. As I like to use my phones rooted, I'd like to root this one as well.
But I am not sure which root method is easily applicable with minimum limitations.
For example, I need to use Samsung Allshare cast dongle and it needs original recovery image.
So I prefer to root without recovery change , or if I have to change recovery, I'd like to revert it back to original.
So, how should I root my S6 Edge ?
And, as it is not upgraded yet, should I root then upgrade or upgrade then root ? Which one first ?
Thanks.
Btw, my device is G925FQ , sold in Turkey specificly.
Hi,
I'd appreciate any ideas.
Thanks.
First post! So I have a Galaxy Mega (SGH-i527m) and I want to install Cyanogenmod on it. It's rooted using Kingo, and I haven't modded a phone since the Note 1 so I'm a little rusty on how to do it. :silly:
Are there any thorough tutorials on how to do it on this particular phone? Also any Cyanogenmod link I find has been removed, found a very useful thread on here but his links went dead in 2014
No there isn't. My GF has the same phone and there is not unlock for the bootloader and with out that no custom recovery. Even kingo root doesn't completely work 100% of the time.
I'm trying to find a way to root an ANS UL40 running 7.1.1 android for free. Can anyone help?
I tried: RootMaster, iRoot (This worked very well for my CoolPad Rogue), One Click Root, and KingRoot (This worked wonders for my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0).
Also I have Odin but I don't know how to use it for this model.
