Hi - just acquired a second hand Z5 Compact and have been reading quite a bit about lineage ROMs on XDA - previously used lots for Samsung S3/S5. I'm not totally clear about the current status of camera performance on the Z5 Compact.
I see the z5 (full size) unofficial ROM says it uses the Sony Stock camera libraries, giving comparable quality to the Stock camera with DRM in place. Has the compact unofficial ROM been updated in the same way (developer Myself5 was involved in both)? And the same question for the official lineage Z5 Compact ROM (different current developer listed - olefb)? Or will all options result in significantly reduced quality over stock?
Your help would be much appreciated, Geoff

Hello everyone, i have a problem with my Z2. I unlocked the phone and the camera became very bad (I didn't know that sony has done such a thing while unlocking). So, I updated my phone to R.Remix 7.1.2 v5.8.5 and the camera is still bad. I know that it's normal. So I'm looking for the fix but i can't find the proper one. There are some solves but they are for MM or stock nougat. I can't be sure if i should try.
Can anyone help me? My camera is very bad and it's irritating me very much. Thanks.

1) You are sure that camera have something on lens?
2) Carbon based rom have "drm fix" for camera .
3) You have try stock camera porting?
4) Unlocking bootloader give bad camera on stock sony roms and other loss of things for drm loss. In stock rom you can put drm fix or elite kernel because drm fix are built in. On custom roms with 3.4 kernel based, there is something similar but for camera.
5) If you try only 20 mpx, with normal quality(not high), on bad light, is normal that camera gives "bad" image. Use 8 mpx instead 4:3. Sensor is 4:3 and with this format you can have best quality.
6) I advice to put carbon rom instead of this or rr 5..8.4 of 21 september 2017 for mic problems of 5.8.5

With carbon based roms, i think camera better than stock in most of cases xD Expecially i'm using sony port camera. This for different parameters. On auto with those roms .Iso can't reach other 3200 iso,on stock porting scene doesn't recognized (in most of cases seems better), focus seems more affordable. But on z2 i always advice to shoot on 8 mpx 4:3 to get in most of cases best results in every situation. 20 only on really light situation to have best details, because z2 is one of first experiment with high megapixel camera and noise reduction doesnt' work well on high megapixel shoots(unlike latest xperias). And always use 4:3 for best images. 16:9 is a cropped image. And to have this results on a custom rom i think is a miracle. In most of cases, camera on those roms are going really worst. With this,is going like stock or better. Thank you for your work
Hi everybody
If i manage to unlock and root my p20 lite does this have any bad affects to the picture quality as it's the case with the Sony Z3 Compact and it's DRM Key's?
Regards Kuni
Hi!
I don't know what the quality would be, but after unlock and root - the camera quality is awful!!!

Hey, I unlocked and rooted my phone, and also flashed OpenKirin LineageOS Beta 5. The camera quality seems to unaffected, as long as you use the default camera app.
Hi guys, i updated my sony xz1 to android Pie but i see what there no difference in tems of photos with Oreo (same algorithm) and no HDR videos, i thing is only marketing and sony is very unfair, because with a Big update the camera still sucks with a great Hardware, same sensor of Sony xz2 and xz3, and no are great difference between snap 845 and 835
so sad :đang khóc::đang khóc::đang khóc:
Hello, I am not a programer but
Since Xperia XZ1 is not supported by Sony and it was added to xperia Open Devices, I was wondering if someone developed some "camera systen improvement". I think that camera sensor is good, but camera system and processing is not as good as it could be. I really believe that with beter system it could be comparable with nowdays phones.
So have any developer dealt with this issue ?
Hello! I am thinking of buying a used Xc for my Xperia Compact collection. What is the most stable ROM with a working GCam? 9 would be ideal, but I am willing to go for 8.1 if it's substantially more stable and/or has better working GCam.
Thanks.

Friendly advice, the forum is dead You need to search - no one is going to answer. Myself unfortunately use stock, albeit heavily trimmed - but stock. I use 8.0 as this was the latest - your options are of course Lineage etc.
So, if your question was "which is the most stable" then this is 8.0. But it is quite good for this phone.
Another advice - battery can be changed cheaply - you can even do it yourself.
If GPS or other antennas don't work then open the phone and reseat the plugs (unplug, replug antenna cables).
