Its important to note that you never have the full '8GB' as with all memory when manufactures state a size it is using 1000MB = 1GB when this is infact wrong as its 1024MB = 1GB so this would lower the memory a little as computer software reads memory in the correct way.
@cubocik:
As Uruk needs 500MB for the OS and under normal installation 1GB for Data, you have to live with less memory.

Missing RAM

Hello
I have a no-name Chinese made tablet. When I received it from ebay, it said that it had 16gb storage and 1gb RAM.
I bricked the tablet and had to install different firmware, which now says that I have 512 mb ram and 8gb storage.
I looked at the board and there are two 512 mb RAM chips clearly attached. I wasn't sure what the storage looked like.
I can access files on the stock rom and do some basic editing.
Can I make it use the other 512 MB of RAM, and what should I look for for storage?
Also, the new ROM doesn't work with either camera (front or back). Any suggestions?

(Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon Edition) Question Regarding 128gb Memory Card Support...

Hi...
I recently purchased Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon edition).
And I am thinking of buying 128gb Memory Card for the same.
And want it support files larger then 4gb (single file size)
But after searching on internet, i didn't found any fixed information regarding the 128gb Memory Card support.
So can my phone support it?
I tried connecting the ntfs (memory card and pendrive both) on the phone but it shows error...
So i don't think it support 128gb due to fat32 size limitations..
Is there any way to solve the problems...
Note: Please i want to avoid use Paragon Mount and other similar software's
So i want to know:
Will my phone support 128gb Memory Card?
Can any changes such as rooting and custom ROM solve problem? (Although i would prefer avoiding this)
I also found out that some users after inserting memory cards of higher size (>32gb) reported 'Motherboard Damage' >>> is this possible?
Can higher capacity memory cards damage the phones motherboard ?
My Phone Info:
Snapdragon 650; 3gb RAM; 32gb Internal
Android version :5.1.1
MIUI 8.0.6.0
Thanks...
Ntfs is supported by cyanogenmod so u can flash that and your problem is fixed and yes it supports 128gb but do u actually need 150 gb in your phone.

MIUI supports 128gb formatted as FAT32. Limited to under 4gb file size.
If you need to connect usb sticks to your device get "Stickmount" app, but you wanted to avoid that?
FAT32 (Large) works fine. 128GB works.
I'm on RR 5.8.0. Using 128 gb sd card as adoptable storage, and it's fine.

System Drive very Low Memory

Hi Guys!
Im just asking for system space on internal memory.
Im on MIUI 8 Global Beta and locked BL, my Phone is Snapdragon version with 16/2GB memory. There is only 11,8GB space showing on system drive with around 4GB available of this space.
Shouldnt it be showing 16GB space on system?! Or is Android System taking around 4 to 5 GB for itself??
Bye,
Andreas
There will be some difference in storage size available due to the difference in the way manufacturers calculate storage size. Manufacturers usually use 1GB = 1000MB, but it is actually 1GB = 1024MB.
Also, the android system will take up quite some space. I use a 32/3 GB kenzo myself, and android system shows as 7 GB.
If you require more space, you can try clearing the cache from settings.
