Flashing of Fastboot rom for Redmi note 4 (mido) - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

i just downloaded fastboot rom (9.2.1.0) for mido as i have 3/32gb variant.
i have question regarding locked bootloader.
i have official fastboot file. & now i am clearing every data on my phone making it unlocked (not the boot loader unlock).
question is can i use miflash to flash fastboot rom for upgraded firmware citing that bootloader is still locked and i have official fastboot rom??
will it brick or not??
reason for asking:
duplicate apps i am fed up of many google apps which i cannot disable (play books, play videos etc.). why is in miui only i cant disable google apps?? even stock google rom provides disabling their own apps (great example is MiA1 where i can disable google apps). the moment i got redmi note 4 i was able to disable system apps (mi browser as well as google apps). but soon after miui 9 update all came back and they were impossible to disable.
so i want to flash official fastboot rom and again want to disable apps i dont use.
I dont need root.

Factory reset, will it erase the root acces for update to MIU8

Excusme master xda, i had new phone xiomi redmi 3 pro wich trade with my old phone, i tough it has been rooted because when i look for update, it show no update.
If i factory reset my phone, will it erase the root acces and the update will show up?
Thanks before
Realy apreciated for anyone answer.
Even if the phone rooted in updater app also show the update if new version is available but cannot flash ota.. Maybe tour rdmi 3 is using distributor rom / non official miui version.
Check if your phone root or not using root checker apps. If rooted then flash twrp and flash the latest rom from http://en.miui.com/download-298.html

It only depends on your rom, if it's global official rom, then it'll give you the ota updates.
no root is needed nor bootloader unlocked for ota updates,
just the rom.
you can miflash latest redmi 3 rom through the miflash guide
google 'unbrick redmi 3'
but, replace the given rom there to the rom you find when you google 'redmi 3 downloads' > flashing guide > fastboot update
then ctrl+f for redmi 3, this is the rom you'll use in miflash

Help needed with Miui8

My phone has following
1. Unofficially unlocked bootloader
2. Stwrp v2 installed as permanent recovery
3. Rooted running on miui 7 global beta LP
I want to upgrade to miui 8 global beta marshmallow with unlocked bootloader
What I have tried so far
1. Tried replacing emmc_appsboot.mbn and then EDL,FASTBOOT flashing miui 8
Problem with above method:
(a) Firstly when I was using old (LP) patched/unlocked emmc_appsboot file I was getting infinite bootloop or can't verify find device info error with various combination
(b) when I used patched bootloader for marshmallow ( I was not even aware there is such a thing) I was able to boot into miui 8 and was even able to unlock it and flash twrp but IN THIS CASE TWRP DOES NOT MOUNT /DATA PARTION AS WRITE no matter what I do so I am not able to flash anything, internal memory is shown as 0 MB.
2.To solve this I used Android kitchen to modify boot.img to disable encryption and verity check( I guess ... something like that there is a thread for it on miui forums)and flashed miui8 with this custom boot.img
Problem with this approach
(a) TWRP mounts all partition as write however MIUI SETTINGS APP KEEPS CRASHING ON UNLOCKING THE PHONE , ALSO ON LAUNCHING IT DIRECTLY. what I mean is if I launch settings app from icon or from pulldown quicksettings it crashes but if I access specific settings like wifi settings from quick pulldown there is no issue
(b) every time I try uninstalling any app PHONE SOFT REBOOTS (UI) AND CANNOT UNINSTALL ANY APP
I thought my partitions might be messed up and tried flashing stable ROM to get them back but no use its all same story again.
I cannot unlock official way because I have messed up my mi account real bad it is not getting deleted
PLEASE HELP ME TO USE MIUI 8 MARSHMALLOW

I would suggest you flash the latest fastboot global dev rom using MiFlash. I don't know how you went to stable but if it was through MiFlash remember to choose the Flash all option and normally everything should go back to normal.
What about other roms like cyanogen ? Do you encounter the same problem ?
Nope I used EDL to flash stable

MIUI fastboot rom
Better Flash lineage os from somewhere in this guide section ,since even after flashing via mi flash fastboot ROM it requires u to enter mi ac details.or try to recover ur passwd from I.mi.com
flash miui 7 fastboot rom
Honestly say byebye to miui
Any other method? To avoid data loss and bypass lock

Finally switched from MIUI 7.1.1.0 Global stock > V9.2.1.0.LAIMIEK, next bootloader

Finally switched from MIUI 7.1.1.0 Global stock > V9.2.1.0.LAIMIEK, next bootloader
I glad i'm finally got rid of that MIUI 7.1 7.1.1.0 Global Stable stock rom!!!
There was no official upgrade, but here on XDA I saw many new roms & android versions.
But also for my wife : she still has many problems with that google play services error which returned many times!
We both have that nice designed Redmi 3 with good price/quality specifications, but the Chinese ****ed up with the locked bootloader & permission **** to ask online.
For a while I gave up, I was in the stage of miflash_unlock.exe said "Current account is not bound to this device"
But as the errors returned on my wife's phone, I continued in the search to solve this :
-First I installed Root_Xiaomi_Redmi3-ChoiMobile.Vn apk to root my Redmi 3 (although bootloader still locked by the crazy Chinese guys
-I tried to install TWRP recovery, it seemed to work, but at startup it was still the locked baked in old cwm recovery in Chinese.
-Then with XiaoMiFlash I flashed in EDL bootloader mode (not fastboot) this rom : Ido_xhdpi_global_images_V9.2.1.0.LAIMIEK_20180129.0000.00_5.1_global_0843a2170b
-Now i'm finally upgraded to Miui 9, but my Android is still the old 5.1 Lollipop but my phone is not rooted again.
-The "Root_Xiaomi_Redmi3-ChoiMobile.Vn.apk" hack doesn't work on this new rom to root it anymore, anyone knows how to root it now ?
-As i'm on the new rom new, I had the developer option (after tapping a few times on the android version), to bind my Xiaomi account to my device.
-Now i'm in the stage of waiting 72hrs to finally have an official unlocked bootloader.
So when bootloader is unlocked I can finally flash TWRP recovery to test & flash a recent rom here with higher android version (Oreo would probably be too new yet and yet in test fase, probably Nougat for the moment ?)
I have 2 questions :
-How can I root this newer MIUI 9 Rom, is there an APK that works yet ? (the RootGenius_en_2.2.6 doesn't work either)
-What if the official bootloader method still isn't unlocked within 72hrs, how can I do it unofficial ?
This was a crazy adventure, man, what a mess made by Xiaomi
Flash TWRP and flash MIUI.eu ROM. There is new MIUI 9.2 for "ido".
First off, Global Stable starts with 7.5 for our device.
The last question: Flash LineageOS 14.1.
Edit:
Just before the last question one:
If you're unlocked, Magisk or SuperSU should be enough.

Revert to stock from Lineageos 16 official.

Greetings,
I am planning to get a pocophone f1 and install lineageos 16 stable. Questions are:
1. Will it be possible to revert to the stock rom (to prove warranty or if i were to return it)?
2. How do you revert?
3. Is there a flashing tool for doing it?
4. Anyone done it?
Kind regards
1. Will it be possible to revert to the stock rom (to prove warranty or if i were to return it)? Yes
2. How do you revert? Use Mi Flash Tool and fastboot ROM
3. Is there a flashing tool for doing it? http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
4. Anyone done it? Many times, if you don't want to lock bootloader while doing it, don't choose clean all and lock
Cheers!!!
Thanks for answer.
I've found that to flash lineageos you need to flash a pie vendor. wondering in case of a revert, whether you need to flash stock vendor. I guess it gets flashed if I use flashtool and flash fastboot rom, correct?
secondly, if i relock bootloader, to reunlock, do i need to repeat same process as first time unlocking? or is it just a "fastboot oem unlock" command?
thirdly, should I be worried about xiaomi "anti rollback" feature? will it just prevent downgrade?

Yes, the tool would take care of it.

Same process as before, fastboot command doesn't work on Poco.
thirdly, should I be worried about xiaomi "anti rollback" feature? will it just prevent downgrade?
No, there is no "anti rollback" for Poco

Ans1 , yes you can revert back anytime, manytimes (always take backup because Miui encrypts data partition and custom rom has to wipe it so chances are you will loose you data .... but last week i flashed MIUI 10.3.4 Global Stable from lineage and then flashed havoc. i didn't loose any data (used latest twrp and magisk19 beta)
Ans2. there are 3 ways, download recovery rom and simply flash it via twrp ( which is the most common), OR download fastboot rom and flash it via miflashtool (by putting fone in fastboot mode) BUT this way you will DELETE ALL THE DATA and there is one button on MIFLASH called "flash and LOCK" if you by accident didn't uncheck it, chances are your boot will be LOCKED, so becareful. ---- the third method is EDL but you will never use that, it involves putting fone in edl mode (back panel is remove and two short points are touched via wire on motherboard and usb cable is plugged in and then fastboot rom is FLASHED by miflash tool, this usually done on BRICKED Xiaomi fones and MIFLASH asks for AUTHORISED ACCOUNT , which usually only few members have ,,, so this third method you will not use! ...
Ans3.. the popular tool to flash fastboot rom in fastboot mode and edl mode is MI FLASH (latest came out during May2018) but
(a) if your redmi/mi fone is mediatek base then you can try SP FLASHTOOL also! (never done)
(b) if your redmi/mi fone is qualcom snapdragon like redmi3s/ redmi max / redmi6 series / redmi5 series (snapdragon 430/625/660 and now Poco f1 on snapdragon 8x) then you can use QUALCOM's OWN Flashtool https://www.qpstflash.com/ ... i flashed lenevo via qualcom flasher once and it was successful! BUTTTT its HIGHLY NOT RECOMENDED!!!!! ,,, for poco f1. just stating here for your information
Ans4. recently bought Poco so NO, but i have flashed my REDMI 3s via miflash tool (EDL MODE) and then Redmi Note 5pro, i have flashed in fastboot mode so it works but you have to patience, REDMI/Mi is UNSTABLE devices (unlike Sony or Samsung) , and can easily be bricked and many time there are no solutions on miui forums for strange errors coming / poping up in miflash tool... like "cannot send zero packet data" etc etc
summing up..
anything can go wrong even if you are flashing ! so whenever you are flashing any custom rom or miui via twrp/miflashtool ALWAYS "cross your fingers"
