The OTA system is completely broken. EU phones have had 9 Nougat updates already. just get to marshmallow B11, then update to Nougat B09
A quick question from being new to the Axon 7, will this relock my bootloader, and or will I lose my ability to root? I'm on B32, but downgraded bootloader with toolkit, and am rooted with SuperSU. I am loving my Axon 7, having had it 1 month. Previous phone was a POS Sony xperia z4, and the Axon blows it away.

No, and never lock it. You'll end up with a brick if you ever lock the bootloader without getting the phone completely functional and 100% stock (recovery, system)
Thankyou, I never intend to or want it locked. So I assume all I'll have to do after the update is re-flash superSU?:good:

Again. The OTA system is completely broken.
Just take an official zip from the Download Center. It's there for a reason you know
Other than the security patches, seems like a very light update. Does anyone have it yet? Are the improvements mostly under the hood or is there anything actually noticable?
I'm mostly looking forward to Oreo and hopefully fixing the metadata Bluetooth problem.
Nothing noticeable. Updated security patch to December.
As someone that uses auto night light. It is broken now. It is no longer automatic at least with boot password. Have not tried without yet.
If i'm rooted and bootloader unlocked what will happen if I accept the update?

I installed it. Turned GPS on high accuracy. Stock auto night light started work. To confirm I uninstalled C.F. Lumen and it is still working. TBH I forgot all about C.F. Lumen as I run it on my tablet.

But my question is what happens if I update my phone with an Xperia system update while it is rooted and has xposed installed on android os 5.1
Is it the same as an android os update or different and what will happen?

You are gonna have to go back to completely stock. You have to understand that if you mod your device you wither give up updates or get used to going back to complete stock then update.

I'll just block the updates
That is always an option but makes you vulnerable to any exploits that the monthly security patches fix.
Just a heads up, the new OTA that At&t released has an updated bootloader.

Why didn't att just play nice and update to V3? Instead they update To V4 so I can't flip flop between t-mobile firmware and there's. Does root still work? On the other hand, I can flash Verizon firmware I guess.

I can't root, looks like it's back to the drawing board. It figures this happen as soon as I feel it necessary to root my device......
I advise everyone to not take any OTAs after the first August patch so you can still be able to root and flash roms. It isn't a problem for me since I wasn't planning on rooting this phone again anyways..

@raremind couldn't root on BL4. It's unfortunate how we can't root on API2, but if the developers are willing to find out a new way to gain root access on API2, then it wouldn't be the end of the world for anyone who wants the latest OTA but still want root.

Hi, got this phone for 1 month now used MM for 2 weeks then updated to Nougat but I didnt like it. Now I want to downgrade to MM is it possible with RSD Lite? If yes how? If no will factory reset solve battery drain, awfull notifications, over heating problems?
How did you upgrade? If you updated the bootloader to the N version, I'm not sure if you can revert back to MM.
OTAs are the Evil. :silly:
Updated via OTA. I could downgrade Samsung S4 isnt it possible with Moto Z? I did hard reset, downloaded my apps then closed my phone and charged it. I don't know what happened while phone was booting but it wasn't %100 battery charge btw. This battery life is killing me..
I'm sure you are not able to get back to Marshmallow because the OTA installs a new bootloader that is incompatible with the original Marshmallow

So I have to wait for fix eh
Which version did you apply?
If you updated to Nougat via OTA, there is currently no safe and simple way to downgrade back to Marshmallow as the OTA also updates the bootloader, meaning that Nougat is the oldest OS that is supported on that bootloader.
That's why I unlocked the bootloader on mine and used the technique outlined in the following thread. Not only do you get a perfectly working Nougat OS but also allows you to keep the old bootloader should you decide to downgrade to Marshmallow.

Ah, I was hoping you had the first release of N. But it looks like you have the current one.
If someone reveals easy and safe way to downgrade please tag me I don't have much time to check forums
Nougat upgrade OTA leaves you in a tough position
My new Moto Z took an update from stock MM to Nougat 3 days after I got it. Stupid me, I should not have accepted the OTA update. But I did. And you cannot go back to MM because the update contains a new bootloader that makes it a one way trip.
Search my other posts in the last few days to see that you are not totally prevented from unlocking and rooting. But unlocking the bootloader leaves a trail forever because a solid state fuse gets tripped forever.

I did not downgrade from 7.0.
I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone with twrp 3.xx and then used phh's Superuser.
But I must admit that I have not loaded a third party ROM yet. I want to load stock 7.1.1 when Motorola releases it in February or March.
Question would it be possible to use RDS light or the program at the beginning of this form to unlock set bootloader and then proceed to route

Since you are already rooted - you could (probably) downgrade... although I am not able to find official firmware for OREO.
My device is 0FCE:01F3 (seems that there is a different version of Sony Xperia XZ1 with id 0FCE:B00B).
I guess that you have nothing against unlocking the bootloader
So in other words: you could try upgrading and see (although way back might be difficult).
As for me... I have accepted the upgrade and I regret that.
Android 9 Pie blocks one feature that is mandatory for me: call recording is no longer possible.
There should be some gesture navigation - it is not present in pie on xz1.
Except that... you should be going into a better direction. I am not sure about root availability for xz1... shouldn't be a problem I guess?
P.S.
I bought this phone only because my previous (it was gt-n910c) had some HW issues with calls. I wanted a phone with NFC and my assumption was I won't root it (to use banking apps without magisk). Now it seems that my calls are flawed and I might need to use magisk+root... and I am not able to physically remove bloatware (especially spyware called fatbook or something like that). Shame on google, Shame on sony.
As your bl is already unlocked download Xperia firm and see if Pie is available in your region, if so download Newflasher (read how to use it), there is a root guide posted here for Pie.

i messed up. im stuck on fastboot (bootloader) mode. everytime i choose recovery mode or start, it vibrates and restarts 4 or 5 times only upto the S logo, before going back to fastboot mode again.
"fastboot boot twrp-3.2.3-0-blackshark.img" didnt work for me. it just starts my phone normally. so i tried "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.3-0-blackshark.img" and got error.
need help pls.
edit: im still reading the whole thread and learning of flashing my bs from skr-a0 to skr-h0. i hope ill succeed from the files and procedures im getting at this link: youtube.com/watch?v=ywC_9Hrpb_I
edit2: was successful in flashing to skr-h0 using flash_all.bat (not brick anymore yay! it gave me the chills really.) sending "fastboot boot twrp-3.2.3-0-blackshark.img" command also now loads me to twrp (thank heavens) but i need to system update OTA first before trying to root again. will update soon.
edit3: now enjoying root on android 8.1... found the hard way that twrp-3.2.3-0-blackshark.img is not for android 9 and wont boot to twrp. probably flashed back to 8.1 for like 5 times more or less. hope maurino or someone else will make and release twrp-3.2.3-1-blackshark.img soon. thanks again for this wonderful thread.
btw: i originally wanted skr-a0 but i cant seem to download the link in the youtube video. file is corrupted. is it just me? i tried on 3 different workstations to no avail.
