Already hit Verizon up on Twitter, no response yet. Tried to use the form for Quanta, but I keep getting a 404 when I submit.

RemoteTracker - Antitheft software

Hi there,
This software is an Antitheft and you can use it to track your device when it was lost or stolen. It works catching a formated SMS sent from any phone and then send useful informations back.
You can use it to others objectives, like keep your eye in your child. Use your imagination!
If the thief change your SIM card, you will receive a SMS alerting you and you still can track your device. All you need to do is set an emergency cel number.
RemoteTracker can be added to third part custom ROMs. But, with a hard reset all configurations was lost. Now, RTRegCreate tool can create a configuration file using your PC. ROM cookers can use this DLL to make RT hard reset safe!
I need to learn VisualStudio 2008 and develop to Windows Mobile for professional purposes. I choose to make this projet because thought it might be fun
My Glofish X800 has Panot (from eten-users.eu) custom ROM with WM6.1 and native .NET 3.5, but you can download this .NET version if needed here: http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/...49-3C6B-42F1-9FD9-0041345B3385&displaylang=en
The installer CAB file and source code of RemoteTracker can be downloaded here:
http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net
This version answer the commands below:
rt#help - send this list of commands;
rt#ehelp - send this list of commands by e-mail;
rt#cb#<some_tel_number> - turn on the Phone and call the number passed as parameter;
rt#gp#<some_cel_number> - try to get GPS coordinates and send back to cel number passed as parameter.
rt#egp#<some_e-mail_account> - try to get GPS coordinates and send back to e-mail passed as parameter.
rt#pb#<some_cel_number> - Use them to receive your contacts stored in SIM card back. If you do not take the phone back, at least the contacts will be saved.
rt#epb#<some_e-mail_account> - Same as pb, but the message goes by e-mail.
rt#elt#<some_e-mail_account> - This command will start GPS, Log the path about 5-6 minutes and send the KMZ file by e-mail. This file can be opened with Google Earth. Very cool.
rt#go#<some_cel_number> - get 'settings/owner' informations.
rt#ego#<some_e-mail_account> - Same as go, but the message goes by e-mail.
rt#rst - softreset device.
rt#dkz - delete all kmz files.
rt#dsc - delete all contacts in SIM card.
rt#eganfl - Send, by e-mail, a list of all incoming and outgoing calls if you have VITO audio notes installed.
rt#eganf - Send, by e-mail, all incoming and outgoing calls records if you have VITO audio notes installed.
rt#findme - Same as 'gp' command, but ask you if you want to answer the command.
rt#alarm - Just play a sound. Useful when you don't remember where the device is, but you know it's your home.
rt#gi - Send informations about your phone: IMSI and IMEI.
rt#egi - Same as 'gi' but the answer goes by e-mail.
rt#msg - Send a message to be displayed on your device.
The main screen has a tab with help.
I did this project to be multi-language. In this version there is Portuguese (my mother language), English (sorry about it, my english is very bad), Dutch (thanks to Cybermoose, from etenusers) and Spanish (thanks to Popy from etenusers). If you want to make your own translate, I can tell how. Very simple.
If you decide to try RemoteTracker, I would like to read reviews, comments and suggestions. Remember this is a beta version and may contain bugs. Use at your own risk and with caution.
Please see ChangeLog.txt to see the improvements.
For those of you who are having the problem with the help file,
with some strange certificate errors and PIE opening when you start RTconfig, the problem lies with having the default program that opens html set to something besides PIE (Opera 9.5, perhaps)
To fix this, use schap's Advanced Config tool to set .htm and .html files to be opened by:
Code: iexplore.exe file: %1

There is an integration with AppToDate. This application verify if configured softwares are up to date or not. If not, you are alerted, and invited to download the new version! Very cool and useful.
You can download AppToDate here: http://www.modaco.com/content/apptodate/267096/download-apptodate-supported-applications/
After install AppToDate, please download RemoteTracker and run RTConfig or softreset your device to configure AppToDate.
Try this and don't forget a new version never more!
--> It is a work in progress. In future versions I will make a lot more.

I didn't know this software. Very good I think, I'll try later. But I suspect the objectives are different. RemoteTracker works only in silent mode to help you find your device if you loose it.
There is only one user interface to configure few parameters. After that you don't need to use it any more.
All functions are activated by SMS (remotely) and the answers will be by SMS or e-mail. For example you can use your wife's phone to send SMS to your lost phone and then receive GPS coordinates to find it.
If you want to compare RemoteTracker with other software, it's more similar to Mobile Justice, but with more features.
This is first goal of RemoteTracker. The second is help you to retrieve your personal data back. It's not totaly done yet. There is a work in progress.
Hope this answer your question
I think this is fantastic! Great idea! Do you think you can incorperate more CDMA-friendly, not-solely-sim-card features? I'm downloading now
I don't have a CDMA device But I think I can search for informations and then code, but without tests.
About suggestions that similar software already exists, this is no argument that this software should not be developed. We see so many sw that do the same thing. Some do it better than the others. So, even reinventing the wheel is necessary smtimes because smone came made the tubeless tyres by reinventing the tubed ones. (and ofcourse, we all made "Hello World"'s, isn't it)
Thanks joubertvasc, and I wish you luck in your endeavour. Any development is good development.
wow. If this is going to work as it should, then perhaps it is something that needs to be built into the rom itself?
what happens if the new owner decides to hard reset?
Sounds very promising! I'm bookmarking the page already!. can't wait to try it. than you for this!

One thing I'm thinking is how to reinstall RT automaticaly after a hard reset. May be using external cards, but the autorun feature only works when card in inserted.
Built into the ROM is possible, but only ROM cookers or manufactures can do it.
I think its early to think about it. RT have to me more tested.

All WIMP does is send an SMS back with the current GPS co-ordinates, very useful but severely lacking compared to what the OP is trying to do. That said it is native PPC code with no need for .NET.
Surely we should commend anyone trying to write alternatives as without that attitude we would all be using Windows with MS Office and browsing using IE. Possibly not the best analogy but it will do.
Thanks! It's great! Can I ask a question?
When the device's stolen, may be the thieft removed your SIM card and then insert a new one. So how to known a new phone number in that SIM card to you send a SMS?Tks!
maybe it can send sms with phone number whenever a sim card which is not in preconfigured list is inserted.
also another suggestion is, for the phones which do not have GPS, maybe it can send the tower information ? So that it could be used to track where it is based on the tower information ?
i wasn't complaining. i think it's wonderful people are trying to develope new software. i was just giving reference.

When you run RT for the first time, the IMSI of your SIM card is stored. After a new 'boot' this IMSI is verified again. If the new IMSI does not match with the old, you will receive a SMS alerting you. This message has the new number. You must input an emercency mobile number in config tab. This number, of course, must be a mobile number diferent of yours (your wifes, mother, son, or so).

Of course I do! Thank you very much!
Very simple: copy and rename english.xml and english.htm to french.xml and french.html.
Edit both files and just translate ignoring the words between < and > characters (those are "commands").
Edit language.xml file and insert the lines below before </languages> (last line):
<language>
<code>4</code>
<name>Français</name>
<file>french.xml</file>
<help>french.html</help>
</language>
Today I was roaming around some blogs and stumbled upon an article with some tips to protect your "smartphone", they talked about a software called mSafe, I even downloaded it for test.
Anyway, it does mostly what you want to develop. The site is http://www.motionapps.com. Their apps are intended for Treos but mSafe states that it's compatible with WM5.
Just for your reference.

Well... I'm not familiar with windows mobile programming but I'm a SIM Card programmer. I don't know if you can access STK commands (commands to the sim card) via the Windows Mobile API's but, if you can, there is a function ("proactive command" using the specific SIM terms) called "PROVIDE LOCAL INFORMATION" that gives you exactly this information (and more)...
Hope it helps...

copy/paste from pocketnow..:
Twitter has long announced that they'd switch to the new authentication method called OAuth which would be more secure. The problem with the old method was that applications had to store your user name and password in order to access Twitter so the new OAuth method will overcome this possible security flaw.
But together with this come the problems related to software that is not kept up to date to reflect and implement the new methods which are used as default now by Twitter. Unfortunately, HTC's Twitter client, Peep, is one of those apps that stopped working and imagine my surprise this morning when I wanted to check the tweets while drinking coffee and was presented with the screen attached. Hope HTC will release their updated version of the app as soon as possible since we know they don't want to lose any users in their Peep pool.
And guess what, moving from the HD2 to my Desire (in my desperate and naive attempt to read some news), I was surprised to find out that Peep for Android is facing the same problems, and it became clear to me that HTC has to make a move, quick!
Strange though that I managed to tweet from Peep some two hours ago!... - probably my last tweet from Peep for a while, hope it'll be short.
That's explains everything
This sucks!!!!!!!!!!
this sucks man! I twittered HTC and posted a notice on their Facebook wall, hope that they come with a fix ASAP!!!!!! Unbelievable that they had months notice to fix this problem. We also still waiting on a ROM update which they promised us since April! Its now September and still no official ROM update!
Its kind of ridiculous that HTC didn't change Peep to the OAuth method before rolling out FroYo. Now we have to wait for yet another update to fix our twitter clients.
Anyway, any alternative Twitter apps for Leo/WM6.5 which do still work? Preferably one with some cool extra functions
Yeah, I noticed this too.. Oddly enough it still works for posting new tweets.
I hope they will fix this with a simple/quick CAB update (or exe, like with the camera). Saves the hassle of backing up again.
But thanks to the XDA community, it will probably be cabbed anyways.. <3
Maybe we will need to wait to twitter again until they release windows mobile 7

I know twikini posted a while back (I can't post links but a search of "twikini stops updates" will get you there) that they would not update their app to support OAuth so that on 8/31 is would stop working. Seems as if Peep does not support OAuth either. Not sure us HD2 owners will be getting an update given the state of WM 6.5 and WM7 around the corner.
For WinMO, I use Panoramic MoTweets they updated to support OAuth in version 1.8.4

Butt I don't like the way motweets's works and his layout so this could be an option for people who want to try
As much as I love the HD2, I can't stand HTC's "support", more like lack of, lmao! They seem to make a phone & drop it like an ex girlfriend with a scat fetish, then move on to the next one!
Thank god for xda & you talented individuals or this phone would be near useless by now.
I love the Peep feature, it's my preffered way of tweeting & reading tweets. On Desire I love tweetcaster & tweetdeck, two awesome apps, which naturally means they won't be available for Windows......grrrrr!
I'm sure if enough people complain to HTC regarding it, they will address it. Expecially since T-Mobile is still selling the HD2.
I do admit it's discouraging though that it's not already fixed, considering the time given to address it
I dont use Peep but do use both MoTweets and PockeTwit,
only MoTweets is working now.
love u guys
i was wondering why peep wasn't workin i know if i got a problem to always come to xda thanks
Those of you on WinMo who already have Kinoma Play for its media features can use its Twitter app as well. If you don't have Kinoma yet, you're missing out. It's well worth the purchase.
I'm hoping Peep gets fixed as well, but at least I've got a stand-by.
Any clever coders out there working on an unofficial patch?
Wow good thing I read this post cause I almost resorted to a hard reset!
Official reply from HTC
I got this official reply from HTC today:
Hi, We are currently investigating an issue with our Peep client that has stopped working and hope to have a solution soon. Please monitor the support pages for updates, or if you prefer we can record your details and contact you again once a solution is available, You can use the official twitter app for the time being. This is unaffected, HTC are currently working on the authorisation required for peep to work on our handsets, an update should be available soon. Thank you for contacting HTC Europe Best Regards Luke HTC Europe.
Seems like it's going to take them a while to resolve this. We're already waiting since April on a new ROM update so I doubt if an official update will be deployed since Windows 7 will be debuting in December.
In the mean time, download moTweets, it works excellent!!!!!!! Does anybody know how to replace the twitter tab in Sense with moTweets? That would be excellent, but I don't know how.
If anyone knows, please post how to.
THANKS!
I recieved the email below of Twitter. as far I see they will deliver updates to change the Oauth login
Over the coming weeks, we will be making two important updates that will impact how you interact with Twitter applications. We are sending this notice to all Twitter users to make sure you are aware of these changes.
What are applications?
There are over 250,000 applications built using the Twitter API. To use most applications, you first authorize the application to access your Twitter account, after which you can use it to read and post Tweets, discover new users and more. Applications come in many varieties, including desktop applications like TweetDeck, Seesmic, or EchoFon, websites such as TweetMeme, fflick, or Topsy, or mobile applications such as Twitter for iPhone, Twitter for Blackberry, or Foursquare.
Update 1: New authorization rules for applications
Starting August 31, all applications will be required to use “OAuth” to access your Twitter account.
What's OAuth?
- OAuth is a technology that enables applications to access Twitter on your behalf with your approval without asking you directly for your password.
- Desktop and mobile applications may still ask for your password once, but after that request, they are required to use OAuth in order to access your timeline or allow you to tweet.
What does this mean for me?
- Applications are no longer allowed to store your password.
- If you change your password, the applications will continue to work.
- Some applications you have been using may require you to reauthorize them or may stop functioning at the time of this change.
All applications you have authorized will be listed at http://twitter.com/settings/connections.
- You can revoke access to any application at any time from the list.
Update 2: t.co URL wrapping
In the coming weeks, we will be expanding the roll-out of our link wrapping service t.co, which wraps links in Tweets with a new, simplified link. Wrapped links are displayed in a way that is easier to read, with the actual domain and part of the URL showing, so that you know what you are clicking on. When you click on a wrapped link, your request will pass through the Twitter service to check if the destination site is known to contain malware, and we then will forward you on to the destination URL. All of that should happen in an instant.
You will start seeing these links on certain accounts that have opted-in to the service; we expect to roll this out to all users by the end of the year. When this happens, all links shared on Twitter.com or third-party apps will be wrapped with a t.co URL.
What does this mean for me?
- A really long link such as http://www.amazon.com/Delivering-Happiness-Profits-Passion-Purpose/dp/0446563048 might be wrapped as http://t.co/DRo0trj for display on SMS, but it could be displayed to web or application users as amazon.com/Delivering- or as the whole URL or page title.
- You will start seeing links in a way that removes the obscurity of shortened links and lets you know where each link will take you.
- When you click on these links from Twitter.com or a Twitter application, Twitter will log that click. We hope to use this data to provide better and more relevant content to you over time.
Thanks for reading this important update. Come and check what's new at http://twitter.com.
Thanks,
The Twitter Team

[Q] SPB brain evolution 2

Each time I tried using SPB brain evolution 2 from the market I get messed up / black background (once in the main menu or games). The games uses opengl, for stuped menues, and something is messed up on sgs2. It was running fine on HD2-android, so that is not a game problem.
What I tried:
1. I had updated to KH3 firmware
2. Tried Chainfire 3d with plugings + shaders
3. Installed a different ROM (I am fun of MIUI)
still nothing changed
Can anyone confirm he has it running on their sgs2? Can anyone provide an intellegent guess on what it could be?
The android market says "This app is incompatible with your O2 Samsung GT-I9100."
It also says in the description "If you have any questions or comments, please email us at [email protected]."
The link to the developer's webpage also has the option to seek out technical support: http://www.spb.com/android-software/brainevolution/support.html though since Samsung Galaxy S II doesn't appear to be supported, you won't be able to specify it on the drop down list on there.

[q] need help!!!!!

ok this is my first thread yay! i know. But i think i have an app that is making phone calls from my number but its not showing up on my call log but it shows up on my bill and the number is 8505830466. i tried calling it and it asks me what number i would like to dial. i would love to know what i should do! should i wipe everything and reinstall the rom or will they still have the info to keep making the calls? or call verizon and have them block it? thanks for any help that is given!
here's it on my bill
Google search shows some people saying its a political party #. Just sign into verizonwireless.com and block it. Solved.
thank you so much! ill try it out
Yes, agreed...mostly. I saw the same Google results. However, noted that my GV# is almost identical to this mystical 850#. I'm wondering if it's related buggishness (?!?). If so, wonder where I'll find more about it. Also, I recall someone else's input that the call /had/ been identified and related to GV, by their carrier (seems to me it was VZW). And furthermore, the rep allegedly stated that the policy was that there were no billable minutes for the number. Here is the indirect link to one of the more helpful insights I've found, IMHO; from the Google Groups: http[://]goo.gl[/]d9JO6 Good luck in your resolution(s).
~:sDs:~
[Edit]
When I spoke to VZW Customer Service yesterday [/not/ IT Support], the rep mentioned that the feature, "Call Blocking," was part of a $4.99 monthly package called "Usage Control," or something similar. ~:sDs:~

[q][legal-regulation regarding android system] - publishing secret code

Hi everyone,
i hope i didn't post this in wrong section,
my company is about to make a simple printed guide regarding how to activate LTE Only mode on Android phone,
in most of AOSP based phone, this will need a user to dial a what we all call "SECRET CODE" for "Phone Info", which is *#*#4636#*#*
no, my question is, since my company gonna do this as a company, not as a personal that post some information in internet,
is there any regulation/written law that tell what i can publish and what not? for example, is it okay to publish this secret code to public officially? will we break any law or agreement? or is Google allow us to do so?
if any of you know something regarding this matter, please kindly lighten me up,
Thank You
