Weird things on my screen that refuse to go away - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

I'm seeing some faint weird icons around my notification area and they refuse to go away. Is this the condition people call "Screen burn"?
I've never seen such a thing before and want to get rid of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm on the SD version of RN4 running AOSPE v4.6 based on Android 7.1.2 if it helps.
Thank you.

AOK cm9 problems

Hey guys, i installed AOKP cm9 Monday night and once installed i fell in love. I came from th eclipse rom which was good but just the customization and look of AOKP is beautiful.
SO this leads me to my problems. When i flashed the rom and used it yesterday it was pretty much working great. I didnt use the dialer much so i dont know if t was happening then or just started. It seems if i call someone and the screen goes black due to the proximity sensor it will not come back after to end the call or when i pull the phone away from my face. I have to constantly press the power button to unlock the phone then i can click end then the screen locks again and have to swipe unlock to get back into the phone. This is a major PITA and wondering if it is a known bug or am i the only one.
Also from looking at the official thread here it states the camera is working but mine does not.
NVM just got it going
Also wondering when i was using elclispe and would go into rom toolbox > build.prop tweaks i could adjust about 7 things such as prox sensor and such. Now i only have 4 lcd, ring delay vmheap, scan interval. Why do i only get 4 tweaks versus the 7 i had before.
Add: Also i just noticed now when i get a call my screen stays blank. I had to again click the power button x amount of times to get in and now recieving a message "processcom.android is not responding. would u like to close it"
Ugghh this is so aggrevating
lso noiced in apps running im using at the highest 330-350 mb and states betwee 48-90mb free. thats to high isnt it

But for the life of me, trying to use the dialpad was nearly impossible while on a call. That helped ALOT. You can also DL Screeble in the market. That will help.

I have the same problem on my X2. You gotta go into settings and I forget where at the moment, but you have to enable hysterisis or something to that extent. I kick myself for not remembering.
As for ROM toolbox, don't use it.
COme on man you gotta remember haha what does hyterisis do and why not use rom toolbox
Sorry about that. Had to look up where DZK gave me some insight on that:
dragonzkiller said:
In CM9 (and I believe CM7) there is a setting under the brightness controls (I believe it's there, I don't have either running right now) called "hysteresis." Hysteresis is basically a "smoothing out" of what the light sensor sees and what value is actually sent to the brightness controls. Enabling that will make the screen react slower to changing light situations, but will disable (or should disable) flicker of the screen from the light sensor acting up. It might not be the problem, but it shouldn't hurt to try it out.

Also for CM7, I know you said you are on CM9, it says in the original post:
"16. Never user RomManager! (Yes it's included, but that's a CM7 thing and won't work with the DX2.)"
I've also read other areas that ROM manager is a no-no for the X2. Better to be safe than sorry.
Thanks Tally. I found where to play with hysteria and it was getting better but still doing it. I had my display or auto, for the phone to adjust display depending on the light. I turned that off and left it at 80% no matter the light and that fixed it. Wow just the auto brightness display could cause so much crap.
So i should just uninstall Rom manager, I dont usually use it anyways.
You stated in your previous post rom toolbox. Was it toolbox or manager that u are stating we shouldnt use?
Also is 300-350mb of ram ok for the phone to be using fairly regularly?
spoke to soon. It was working now its back to normal. I am ready to bodyslam this phone
Tally.. what settings did you do on your d2 to make it work correctly
Don't do it. Mine was doing exactly what you have described. Once you get it figured out, its ok. But yes... it will make you want to punt it across the room.
Your 300-350 mb of ram is ok.
I wouldn't delete it ROM manager. Just leave it as it is.

I had the best luck running CM9 mashed up- not supercharged or anything else. Others here had some luck with the V6 supercharger. Different phones just acted differently. But now that the beta version has the mash up in the build.prop just let it ride. Avoid Facebook and sites that have alot of media to load.
It really does work pretty good once you get a feel of how your phone reacts to it. Alot of the things are tolerable.
What do u mean by mashed up. Do you mean by cm9 or the aokp cm9. I am getting some really wacky stuff happening. System running real slow, screen not coming on usually from a call or sometimes when trying to unlock phone, now my VM wouldn't respond, apps taking a lot more time than usual to open. I don't know if this is the aokp from or the phone. I had the screen glitch w eclipse but not all the other stuff. I called verizon and they r willing to send out a replacement but just not sure if its the phone or rom
ok so this is weird and not sure if it is the problem. I was trying to play with anything that may affect how slow it is and once i flashed the aokp rom i downloaded a little later a cobalt theme for my theme chooser. Was running that all day and just now said " let me try putting it back to system theme" once the system them was in and everything loaded it was back to working quick again.
Now be it , it has only been a half hour but already it is what i saw first thing and the screen glitch is there but i can end calls w the power button. Would a theme make the phone act wacky?

Mashup is a flashable add on for roms. It is supposed to make things run smoother and help with the signal. Mashup is pre installed on CM9 alpha 5 and beta 1, I don't believe AOKP comes with it but Im not sure. And I had a bunch of issues with CM9, but Ive been running CM7 for months and love it. Maybe give CM7 a shot till the new ICS roms get debugged a little more.
Ok first off dont ever talk to verizon about your issues, always come to the forums... Always. Verizon doesn't know anything beyond complete stock. You need to spend time looking around the x2 forums read read read. Mashup is a mod that's right here in our dev forum very easy to apply just download the right version and flash in the appropriate recovery
Rolling AOKP in the north.

[Q] Tiny clock on lockscreen... how to fix?

I'm running a custom ROM at the moment and it had cLock installed, which from experience, makes the lockscreen clock abnormally small. I've been just dealing with it, but it's getting annoying. How can I fix this or revert it to the old size. If I slide down and then drag to the left, the old "big" style clock will show up, but upon sleeping and waking up the phone, the tiny clock comes back. So, anyone?
Thanks in advance!
Its seriously hard to help with no mention of what rom, what device, and so on.
I will guess on the device, Verizon, but at far as the rom, many have different things that may or may not work.

Good to know. I haven't experienced any of the random reboots yet, but I am not a heavy-user beyond a few utility apps, text, email, and calling.
I do know that there seem to be a considerable number of apps that work fine on 4.4 that exhibit undesirable behavior on 5.0. It isn't obvious whether the issues are app compatibility, or that our device tree isn't yet up to par, or that android 5 isn't yet up to par (or even all of the above).

My phone burns and reboot when I try to open some apps.
I need some help for this, I'm using OmniRom 5.0.2 lollipop unofficial and when I use the music player of the rom, my phone gets so hot and battery drains to fast, also reboot when try to use other apps from the play store like, youtube, etc... everything else works fine. I want to know if you are going to fix the other bugs like the outgoing calls, etc..??
BTW, thank you so much for your effort on this rom, i really like OmniRom and I hope you can make it better and keep GS2 alive
I have found that there are specific apps that cause the device to immediately reboot. I believe this to be mainly a result of the current memory issues regarding this device and Lollipop.
I haven't experienced any heating issues beyond the initial firmware settling (scanning the device) .
I hope to be able to find a solution to all bugs, but I cannot promise that it will happen.

Just seeing this, sorry. I'll pull it now, this call bug log?
Edit: I see that it is, hard to scan it well on my phone, I'll look once I'm at my computer. I updated audio stuff before my last build but no luck. I think using a prebuilt hwcomposer from kk would solve many many issues with video etc. That's what we did for n2 and we don't have official cm12 either. I need to pull a kk zip to get the hwcomposer and see how that works. Also I may need to build an i777 almost stock kernel with my n2 source because only my kernel on n2 will allow working everything hardware. My i777 kernel is based on cm but my n2 is Samsung kernel source 3.0.31 that has been routinely merged with aosp. Quick glance looks like audio isn't routing properly but I could be wrong. It's such a strange bug since it works just fine after flipping on and off. Again sorry for the delay, I seriously only get about 15% of the notifications I should
Yeah, this is the call log, and without something flagrantly crashing (and leaving a better calling card) I have nothing specific to look into.
No worries about the notification, I've been working on slim with warrior1208. ... Although until slim is back online, that project is almost stalled.
We'll have a proper daily driver if we can get this. I can't help but wonder if some of the "under the hood fixes" of 5.1 may help. Prolly just wishful thinking.

Right now I currently despise 5.1 LOL. Not that it's bad but I have to start over if I want it. Hey, I remember you cooking your mobo awhile back, used to do it all the time but can't remember. 385 for ten minutes brought me success. For two different devices.
I noticed that 5.1 seemed to temporarily push asimovi's progress backward a bit, which is a part of why I haven't published a 5.1 Omni. I lost internal storage again, and haven't found the culprit. I keep forgetting to look into system_vold.
5.0 should have been a test release.

Received the phone, pretty disappointed...

Hey there.
Just received my Oneplus 2 yesterday pretty happy overall but having some issues with couple things.
First, I travel a lot so I use Fly Delta app quite a bit. For some odd reason this application will not open on my Oneplus 2. Anyone have the same problem?
Second, my wifi download speeds are pretty terrible. I get about 1/5th of the available speed. I did a side by side speed with Oneplus 2, ZTE Axon and S6. Oneplus always gets around 9-10mbps as opposed to the other phones (they get ~50mbps)
Last but not least I find OnePlus quite a bit slow compared to ZTE Axon (which has the same exact hardware) and way slower than my S6. Apps open a lot slower, information takes a lot longer to load, browsing is laggy. At this point, I am pretty disappointed and the phone is not living up to its hype Oneplus makes is out to be.
Anyone else having the same issues mentioned above? Any help will be greatly appreciated, if anyone knows how to fix any of the issues mentioned above.

Guys, I too received my OP2 just yesterday. Very happy with the phone and its the best anyone could ask.
Just one thing that I couldn't figure out that, there is absolutely no option to turn on the flash during taking the photos!!
Yes, flash doesn't light up automatically while taking photos and there's no option to turn it on manually.
I know it sounds silly. But does anyone else also have the same problem?

Preventing folding of notification icons into a dotted circle in EUI

Hi, I was wondering if someone figured a way to control that by now. I find it really annoying in EUI as many of the apps that I use on a daily basis get immediately folded there, including messaging apps. It was the case of all EUI based ROMs that I tested until now, but I found it does not happen in Revolution 19s by @Steve Mars (Indian EUI based). All icons are properly shown and I have never seen them fold to a dotted circle. So does anyone know where this is being controlled? Or perhaps we can figure that out by comparing two similar ROM versions with and without this behavior?
EDIT: it's not about this particular ROM, it's switching region to USA that disables notification folding!
Yeee I hate this 3 dots too, but dunno how to change it to normal icons.
Why is this acceptable for everyone? For me it simply makes the system unusable. It's like driving in the dark.

Exactly, I'm puzzled why it gets so little attention on the forums.
I asked and ranted about that months ago, even spoke about it with a support guy from LeEco who told me that they will look into it. doesnt seem like they changed anything, as that circle is a special EUI function they developed.
My Bottomline: EUI? Never again. I'm on a special Mokee version now which works just fine and will never go back. the plus in comfort is so huge, its insane. e.g. the notifications itself as well. that you can work with them easier, expand them if you want to etc.
EUI brought me close to selling this phone. luckily, there are software alternatives now that work!
Edit: Oh, just found it. it was actually me who started a thread about this exact thing in june.

I found EUI too annoying because of this as well and was running on Mokee for a few weeks. I would never look back, but there are some unresolved issues like unstable wifi. Fortunately, with the notification issue not present in the Indian EUI build and after disabling excessive process killing in the hidden menu, I found EUI to be finally usable. I'd still prefer a fully working Mokee though and avoiding all the hassle of making sure Tasker and other background apps work as expected.
There's some kind of solution , although it's a workaround... you can use the app "Status" ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...s.status&hl=de ) to replace the status bar. It's kind of glitchy and has some bugs, but better than nothing...

Wow, how did we miss that! I just tried Other regions and India and they all fold. I switched back to USA and folding is gone again! Thanks a lot!
Can anyone confirm if this works in the newer Chinese-based ROMs or no USA region there?
20s CN - yes, changing the region to US does really the trick.
Thanks a lot!

Does not work
Your suggested fix does not work on my x722 running EUI 5.8.020S. It does work on my x626 running EUI 5.8.018S. So the problem still remains and I assume the "fix" you found is actually a bug in version 5.8.018S and lower OR a bug that only exist in the CN-versions.
