This is the latest, official ROM from Samsung (for some reason their BTU/UK region updates are months ahead of other countries/CSC). Creating it's own thread since I saw multiple questions and PMs around this issue.
And yes, this finally fixes the wifi drain problem: only took Samsung almost a year but they did it
Since someone asked on PM: you need to flash all files in the firmware. If you want to keep your settings flash the HOME_CSC instead of CSC (though if you are flashing directly from a very old firmware over 6 months ago this can can cause issues in which case you may have to reset the device anyways).
And no flashing a different region's firmware will not mess up your device unless the flash fails midway or something.
Wonder why they bothered with a security patch and didn't just go to oreo.

Probably because that will take them another 6 months.
Security patches are easier to provide then complete OS... They havent finished doing the final OReo for S8 etc so until they have a FINAL oreo base to rollout across the portfolio then im happy with the security updates
For anyone who is interested, @ashyx TWRP and root method does work on this firmware. I don't know if you could restore a data partition from your previous configuration with TWRP. But if you try it make sure you do not have any security on your device before making the backup.
Sweet! Downloading now

You're going to have to re-flash the firmware, you won't be able to just do an update. But to make things easier do this.
First, remove any security, pin, etc from the device.
Then, boot into twrp and make a backup off the device, external sdcard is fine. You'll only need the data partition but might as well as backup system and boot too.
Then flash the new firmware with Odin, untick the reboot after flashing. Using the keys boot back into download mode.
Use ashyx's method to install twrp and root. Have SuperSU and his boot image patcher on the external sdcsrd.
Then, while still booted into twrp restore the data partition from the nandriod you backed up earlier.
When you boot to system you should have everything back to the way it was with the new firmware.

Gurus,
Now that this supposedly has fixed the standby power drain issue, has anyone had the time to:
1. Determine how much more battery life this provides, and / or
2. Compare how the S3 now stacks up against the S2 in terms of battery life?

Could anyone help me find either the stock plain HC version (that's upgrade-able to TW) or the stock tw version that the p7510 WiFi US retail (from Best Buy) now ships with? I've been looking around for hours and I've tried a few, right now I have HMJ37.UEKG4 from the "look here first" thread and I don't think it's the right version.
Any help is appreciated!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
To clarify...I just need this so it will get all future updates from samsung. (as it is as retail)
edit: bleh nvm..was using the wrong file from http://droidbasement.com/galaxy/sys-backup/hc_31/
Okay actually after installing that, it upgrades to version version HMJ37.UEKG4 p7510UEKG4...but now there's not another update. (so no touchwiz?)
I need to thing ready by tomorrow so thanks if you can help!
That is the IO firmware I think, so yeah, it's wrong. Haven't seen another link for stock HC retail. I have a Nandroid backup of a stock, untouched Tab before the TW update (from my own Tab), but I have no idea how to make it an ODIN or CWM file.

Alright well...since I'm kind of panicking at the moment because I can't get this thing to update properly, would you mind uploading the nandroid?
Otherwise I don't know what to do...I think I was on the stock firmware before the TW update but it only gave me a 10 MB update to the version I said above. Any help is highly appreciated
This is a very interesting question. I wonder why the stock ROM doesn't seem to be available?
Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt.
Or maybe there's a version with TW? Because I don't think I screwed anything up, maybe the TW update just isn't available anymore?
EDIT: Okay so the stock files put me on version HMJ37.UEKF3...then I get a 11.22MB update to HMJ37.UEKG4. After that I get no more updates, but I really need to get this baby back on stock TW by tomorrow.
I found one here that works with all future samsung updates, phew...

I'll have to upload my Nandroid tomorrow as my Tab is dead and I'm heading to bed.

Since this is the official US WIFI Retail release, you should get future updates no problem.
That "Look Here First" thread really needs to remove that version of KF3.
If you still need nandroid backup of stock US retail wifi tab, here's the link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41710083/CWM Backup/2011-09-13.15.19.39(3.1).rar

I have used CWM 4.0.0.4 to create this nandroid backup. So i guess this should work with Overcome CWM also.
Well, I know you've all been waiting for the MJ4 update, and I have all the system files ready to go. However, the baseband refuses to update past MI3 for me. Nothing i've done gets this thing updated past MI3. I had it at MI5 at one point, but in an attempt to get the MJ4 update before someone passed it along to me, I Odined back to MI3 and now have the stupid message about roll-out updates exceeding.
Basically, anyone with any sort of knowledge in this please chime in with suggestions, ideas, whatever!
I know a few of you have had trouble getting past MI3 yourself with my firmware update. My phone updated fine with it in the beginning, but now it won't. I'm assuming samsung has some security checks in place that reverts any changes unless they're official?
I have tried the following:
-dd from a friend's phone who has MI5. No luck, mine is still at MI3.
-created a flashable zip from the update.zip MJ4 OTA. System files get updated fine, but baseband remains at MI3.
-created a flashable zip with just the modem/apnhlos updates. No luck, still remains at MI3.
-created a odin tar with MI5 modem/apnhlos from a friend's phone. No luck, ODIN refuses to flash it.
-tried flashing the official MI5 update from MI3 with stock recovery. No luck, signature verification error.
-tried flashing the official MJ4 update from MI3 with stock recovery. Obviously no luck, signature verification error, and i'm on an older MI3.
-tried creating an all in one flashable from MI3 all the way up to MI4. Works in custom recovery, however, baseband remains at MI3.
-tried dd aboot, rpm, tz, sbl1, sdi, manually from adb, then applying MI5 update, then MJ4. No luck, baseband remains at MI3
It looks as though if you haven't been officially updated, it refuses to update any of the core firmware.
I'm pretty stumped and annoyed at Samsung for their HTC-style crap they're pulling on us. This may be my last Samsung phone.
If anyone has any ideas or would like to test things please feel free to reply back with suggestions or whatever.

Probably, but kies keeps telling me that firmware initialization isn't available for my phone
The problem isn't how to update officially, it's how to apply baseband updates for rooted people, which is looking very hard or impossible to do.
It's like .....if you're rooted, you can't get anything. We can keep updating the android system just fine, but any firmware or baseband updates absolutely refuse to apply. I'm guessing a firmware update is what solved the audio popping problems too. Maybe a android system update did, but who knows.
When I tried to update through the stock recovery it said the signature verification failed but the update finished. But in the phone nothing changes at all. That's kinda strange I've never seen that before, it either does the update , or it fails.

well what im thinking right off the bat is to modify the actual kies program itself so that we could get it to recognize the firmware we want to update to as the one it finds. if you could get me the extracted files I can see what I can come up with.

what we need to see is exactly how odin and or kies is communicating with that part of the device and modify it to do it differently.

Yeah that would be an option, if someone can create one with all the necessary files (not just a system image, but recovery, modem, etc) Because the official updates won't apply if you have mixed firmwares. So if a modified odin image were created, it would have to contain all the MI5 firmware as well.

You can definitely odin back to MI3. I don't think there is an Odin MI5 around. The problem is, since Samsung is rolling out these updates in stages, probably to avoid server load, people will be stuck on MI3 until they allow more updates. You'll get the error message about roll-out updates exceeding.

I'll upload them in a sec. It'll be like 1.3gb so it may take me around 30 minutes to upload. Also, I don't have the official MJ4 kernel either. I don't know how to properly extract the update.zip. It was created in a way that doesn't allow traditional extraction. If you repair it with winrar, it treats the boot.img as a corrupted file and excludes it from the rebuilt zip file.

The update.zip that freeza posted didn't work at all even though I'm not rooted either. Like stated before it gave me the signature verification failed and it went through with the update. Unmodified meaning custom status. Knox trip as far as i know won't have an affect on your ability to receive updates, BUT now that you mention it, maybe it has an affect on you being able to manually update your baseband. I was only able to do it one time with a flashable zip, and I am not sure if i were knox tripped or not, but i sure am now.

she (sorry )may be thinking of me. I'm out at cota today doing formula 1 stuff so will be a little bit before I can help. But I can say...
Was able to go from mi3 to mi5 (baseband included) using DeLaVega root and wanam. But then had to do some messing to get mi5 to show official.
Alternatively was also able to get official with wanam on mi5 by using the DeLaVega script and wanam on the official mi5 firmware also.
In both cases baseband was changed.when going back to MI3 and forward to mi5.both cases root still worked. Knox still 0x0
Of course no matter which method i try I still get update exceeded and am waiting for mj4.
I do have a few more ideas for you guys but need some time in front of a pc.to be sure. And a copy of the update to verify.

Hello guys I've just updated my s6 edge SM-G925F(UAE) OTA update to 5.1.1 and it was cool
But I did actually wanted to root it so I've watched many tutorials on youtube that tells me to install the auto root kernel but every kernel I use I got stuck into bootloop and every time I had to flash the whole firmware from scratch I don't know why I think that's because the kernel is not compatible with the UAE rom so I want from anyone please that can give me a kernel that I can flash to my S6 edge without stucking into bootloop
And another thing, if I downgrade to 5.0.2 and flashed supersu normally then back with 5.1.1 with odin does that losing root?
I cannot help you with your rooting problem but i can tell you from what I've read you can't go back to 5.0.2. There is always a failed flash on odin. And even if you could go back to it SuperSU is installed on the system partition which is completely written over by wiping system then installing the official ota edition from the tar file

I cannot help you with your rooting problem but i can tell you from what I've read you can't go back to 5.0.2. There is always a failed flash on odin. And even if you could go back to it SuperSU is installed on the system partition which is completely written over by wiping system then installing the official ota edition from the tar file

Try this link bro
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwWzwVYW7MUxTXFzb1hrSXdoUU0/view?usp=docslist_api
IF THIS LINK DOESN'T WORK?
Which could very well be the case!!
(i'm about 85% certain that the link won't work...)
Meaning the link doesn't want to download, or the file is empty, or you can't find it at all?!
It's simply because i have blocked Google and Samsung from this device because of privacy issues!
(2016, Google is exaggerating in terms of privacy, as more often they will try to convince you that it's for your own safety! But in reality your biggest enemy really is Google!!)
i will upload this edited Stock Rom tomorrow "Insha'Allah" from "a" computer which is better for me, sorry.
Note; The firmware i'm going to upload will be a edited firmware of which i've deleted the "hidden.img" file, it will undoubtedly flash perfectly on any SM-G925F devices through Odin 3.10.6 xda, and your devices will work perfectly, also the firmware isn't attached to any NSP!
Info; I personally don't know what is inside the "hidden.img" file, you could flash the file separately unto your devices BUT you actually don't need the "hidden.img" file for your devices to work 100% flawlessly!
So i advice you all to NOT flash the "hidden.img" file unto your device for your own safety/privacy!!!
YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T NEED IT!
Protect your privacy, people !!!
(This part is for later! After you have flashed the Firmware i've uploaded/going to upload, i advise you to flash the Xtrestolite Rom and Aroma afterwards if you want root access, and DO NOT select the SimcardToolKit "STK" from Aroma because that's also in your disadvantage!
I've personally been contacted by google and my NSP "network service provider" had blocked my phonenumber because google told them to do so! But i've threatened my NSP with a lawsuit and they instantly fixed my phone number because obviously they don't have the right to block a number on Google's demand!
If i was an American i would have probably sued them , but frankly i really don't care about money, money is necessary but it's just a worthless illusion in reality! However, i do care about my/our privacy!!)
So if this happens to anyone of you, get a lawyer before you contact your NSP OR GOOGLE, because you've won the lottery and for aslong as you have disabled sharing any of your information with Samsung OR Google, then Google can't provide anything in ANY court of law to use against you, because if they do? That would mean that they have broken into your devices which is against any law "WORLD WIDE" if you haven't given them any permissions.
What happened to me is very very, uncommon.
Their luck is that i'm not hungry and i'm a peaceful person )
Again, however this is all for later.
You could restore and root your devices without any Google or NSP issues.
BUT, i could help you setup you NSP into a lawsuit that will end up in your advantage for those who want to get rich quick and go to hell afterwards. lol
For now, just let me know if the link above works (which i doubt).
Otherwise, it'll be about 24hours before i upload the file, long night here...
Thanks, and nice to see that there is a way to root the 5.1.1,
Just a question, have you made anyy tutorial or instructions to do step by step. Plz bear with me cuz i dont know much about rooting

Okay, 1 hour max
Okay, download the Firmware from any one of these links:
goo.gl/TYtvMv (Google Drive, this link is only good for PC!)
http://mab.to/9h2wcUIX7
(You can use these 2 links to download straight to Android or Computer)
http://mab.to/N62ySySMP
~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download the file and put it AS IT IS on your desktop.
2. Download Odin 3.10.6 from XDA
And unzip it unto a new folder unto your desktop.
3. Run Odin as Administrator and click on AP.
4. Choose the Firmware you've downloaded and let ODIN process the Firmware.
5. Put your device in Download mode (turn your phone off, then hold VOLUME DOWN, HOME and POWER BUTTON, then push volume up to continue)
Or watch this video: https://youtu.be/-50XX-BxItg
6. Then connect your device to your computer, as you can see at 01:30 in the video, the tab in Odin must turn blue which means that Odin has detected your device.
7. Click on start and wait! Do not disconnect your device until your device is flashed SUCCESSFULLY and it will reboot by itself, only when you see Samsung boot logo you should disconnect your device, not before.
If you have encountered any problem, please come back to this page and explain your situation.
Also if you want to root your device successfully, let me know.
Thanks.

Skip the SAMMOBILE part because you'll need to download the firmware i've provided from the links above.
WARNING ⚠!!
This firmware is ONLY FOR SM-G925F!!!!
DO NOT FLASH IT UNTO ANOTHER MODEL!!!

Sorry Mr Mughal, i have just noticed your message.
Tell me what your problem is and i will try to guide you step by step, but i will not make a video tutorial because i'm actually not an uploader, i'm more of a curious downloader and editor.
This is just a hobby/therapy to me.
Me uploading this firmware really is an exception, it's simply because i see many people having problems with SM-G925F Stock Roms and no one wants to upload a perfected Stock Rom without bugs and other cracks, and frankly i just can't stand watching helpless people or even animals in need!
If i can help, i always will do so to a certain extent.
Explain your issue please and i'll try to help you.
Be Fast! Because this account i'm using will be deleted in a few days tops for various reasons!

Willing to pay bouty for whoece roots j3 emerge aka smj327p aka j3popltespr .mm. bootloadrr unlocked by crom and knox disablrd with package dissl
Update Feb 22 ....i am now compiling a twrp and porting one from zenfone 3 with same chipset....so we are on our way to atleast a chance for permanent root via supersu zip. ALSO i am going to then work on a kernel with ideaa of su already installed via busybox so we can just flash kernel and update via supersu apk . Any collaboration will be via teamviewer and file sharing ....so id you wanna help pm me ....next ill be updatimg as soon as i begin testing twrp ...cheers and lets get this thing done.
Please post any tools or links to programs that will help and i will credit you when i finally post the twrp file.
You will be hard pressed to find anyone working for that device. Dens don't work on knock off devices. If you have an unlocked bootloader then grab the kernel source and make one.

No what I mean is that it is a copy of another device. It is just a rebranded Chinese based device. That is what I mean.
Boost is known for using rebranded knock off devices. Most of the time they don't even use any for of official software. It's normal some unknown, unheard of Android version.

I don't know any more. I'm from note 4. I was researching this device for my nephew. And came across your thread and also that link. I know I used idone to unlock my phone.
We already have twrp and root
---------- Post added at 05:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:24 PM ----------
And it's not really an engineering bootloader, it's combination firmware that gives you insecure adb to remove frp lock from frp locked devices.
There is no reason I can see for needing root without twrp. But if u must just reflash the stock recovery after your flashed root

Im softbricked got twrp on my boost. Im going to unlock bootloader.
I'm aware of the official site for TWRP on our phones (https://dl.twrp.me/x2/)
But I see in some threads people are complaining about not being able to do certain stuff because it's bugged or IDK.
My question is the title itself, I don't need extra features btw, just stable flashing.
Use the latest version of twrp.
Working good for me.
If if it helps don't forget to hit thanks.
For me the only working is the red cuoco's version.
What issues you're facing with other versions?
Heyyo, TWRP version 3.1.1-0 is good same with earlier versions.
The buggy 3.1.1-1 was taken down so you're safe.
Ps. If you experience fingerprint reader issues when your device is asleep please flash an updated version of the modem firmware. I know it sounds odd but it does affect fingerprint reader performance when the device is asleep.
Chinese 26s 05.09 from here works good
https://yadi.sk/d/woKdrlRrv8yhr/Китай
But others have preferred developer 466D from here
https://yadi.sk/d/woKdrlRrv8yhr/Для разработчиков
Modem firmware is separate from the ROM so you can flash them freely without risk of wiping out your ROM
Try each for a few days and see which one works best for you

Besides just TWRP you can also flash MultiROM which is a great way to try out different ROMs without deleting your primary ROM
