I want to buy xperia neo but unfortunately I cant get my hands on it before buying. I used Xperia play and the screen is so reflective I cannot tolerate. Is the neo's screen the same as far as glare is concerned? Anyone who has used both? I can accept poor viewing angles but this is one thing I cannot compromise on so please I really need info on this, cant really find something certain with online reviews.
should be the same, easier way is change the screen protector to a low-reflective one.
No that destroys image quality. I guess I'll have to stick with samsung, their phones are the best in this regard. They are just getting too big though, they dont have a 3.7" phone as good as neo sadly.
Btw the display on the play is not the same as on arc and neo. But they might be similar in glare as the reviews seem to suggest that the neo has just ok performance in sunlight but not too good.
Interestingly the new Xperia Ray has excellent sunlight legibility as it has an anti-glare polarize on the screen which is missing from older models like neo and arc.
The PLAY has a pathetic screen compared to all other SE phones.
I can't barely see the screen when I use it on the street :-( Sony phones seem to have very low brightness, and also very reflective. You should try some similar Sony 2011 phones and judge. For everything else I'm quite happy with it plus I got it cheap.

It's not that bad with the new update as the phone was shipped with auto brightness without the option to turn it off.
I was astonished at how dim the display was at full brightness but I quickly realized that the auto brightness is on.
Hello.
I'm looking for a tablet that I can use for taking notes, drawing diagrams, and marking up PDFs, mainly for University.
Does anyone have any experience with using those features on the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact?
I've been looking at the Nvidia Shield K1 Tablet as well, which seems to have better notetaking capacities. Can anyone comment on this, and possibly in comparison to the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact?
I'm new to styluses and notetaking tablets, so any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
Okay, guys it goes like that my Z Ultra camera quality was quite poor, so recently I have purchased a Z1 replacement rear camera for my Z ultra, I have fixed the camera Inside phone because the flex cable were all same, but after that my phone is not booting up, it booted at first then restarted then it went off and then didn't start, I replaced back to my old camera again and phone started then, so it seems like my Z Ultra needs the right software for Z1 camera device fixed inside, I don't know in such cases what is required it is driver or camera software and from where to get it, Please if anyone knows how to Install Z1 camera in to Z Ultra just give me suggestions, I want to make this combination work, please tell me how can I install Z1 Camera software in to my Z Ultra. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
really interesting, any dev knows any kernel/mod for this to work??
Since it has such a nice large screen, Does anyone know of a nice portable keyboard (Preferably a case keyboard)?
Thanks!
Hello alex8787,
Did you get any usable or that could be adapted for Sony XA1 ultra?
thanks.
Hello folks,
.
I'd like to purchase a mediapad m5 (8.4 maybe 10.8) for use as a car gps.
.
I owned a z3 sony tablet for a while, it was a good product except I could not use it with my *polarized* sunglasses in landscape mode, screen became invisible
So I now have a galaxy tab s2 9.7, the super amoled screen is visible in both landscape and portrait modes with polarized sunglasses.
.
I'm considering the m5 due to its 16/9 form factor, as opposed to 4/3 in use by samsung on their tablets.
I'd be grateful if some of the current users of the mediapad m5 could try polarized sunglasses to see if it can be used normally in both landscape and portrait.
.
Thanks in advance for your kind advice.

I've tried with polarized ones, can be used in landscape and portrait as well. In portrait it's just a bit darked.

10.8
lcd screens are typically polarized at 45° . which can interfere with sunglasses if you tilt your head. If you want an unpolarized screen you need oled.
Thanks obveron
In the case of the z3c the lcd screen was perfectly visible in portrait.
In a gps setup however it is easier to use a tablet in landscape.
Have you tried yours with polarized sunglasses?
I'm curious to know whether the experience onlyoneme is valid for all models and regardless of the type of sunglasses.
Any feedback on the mediapad 8.4 would be particularly useful.
The m5 tablets are not available locally in stores in my country so I'd have to order it online "blind" from overseas without trying it first, hence the question.
