Samsung xcover 3 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys.
I need help ergently.
First i´m sorry if i post in wrong section of the forum.
Now to my problem.
I am trying to root this mobile using odin to flash twrp and then in recovery flash supersu.
I have used google to find guides and even checked here, but no luck, that i have found i follow every step.
So what have i done?
i downloaded twrp (all of them just to be sure, and for xcover 3).
I downloaded odin, the last version.
I downloaded the last version of supersu.
I installed odin and followed a guide where i should put twrp in AP slot in odin i turned my phone in download mode and hit start, it passed and i removed usb cabel and pulled out the battery and tryed to enter recovery mode, but i got a message that says "Recovery is not seandroid enforcing" and then nothing.
I saw a post that says that is because i have the wrong twrp file, ex. if i use twrp for android 4.4 but my system is 5.1 this will happen, so therefore i tryed all twrp.
I have tryed everything i can find, can anyone please help me?
My phone´s modelnumber is SM-G388F and my CSC: G388FOXA1BQC1 (wich i cant find anywhere) and my AP: G388FXXU1BQC2 (also no where to be found with these exact numbers).
Please please help me.

That worked, it installed and so on.
But when i install twrp i still get "recovery is seandroid enforcing" when i try to get in to recovery.
But after a second i jump in to andrdoid's own recovery but i cant install supersu from that.
I should ad that after i flashed with odin from your link i flashed the latest twrp, that was correct or did i mess up somewhere?

Hi , flash this trwp recovery with Odin .
https://eu.dl.twrp.me/xcover3ltexx/twrp-3.1.1-0-xcover3ltexx.img.tar.html
After that pull out your battery and do this step:
Press and hold Volume UP key + Home Key
then put battery back on and press and hold Power key also
Release all key when you see Android TWRP Recovery.
Make BackUp if something goes wrong !
Hope it will work for you .

Hi.
Thanks for the reply.
I have already tryed twrp 3.1.10, but i tryed with your instructions as well.
But no it did not work, i tryed with auto restart option ticked in odin and without, but with no luck.
Im starting to wonder if it is possible to even root this phone?

I don't have that device to make a test , but probably twrp will not work on Android 5 , try to flash him back to KitKat and then flash the latest twrp recovery.

So if i flash kitkat and everything works well with twrp can i flash lollipop back and still have root?
Or do i need to keep kitkat?
And do you know where to find kitkat for my phone?

Here you can download kitkat , registar for free and click join 0, if you flash to lolipop back you lose Root Rights and also twrp because it will probably overwrite stock recovery from android 5 (Lolipop) .
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-xcover-3/sm-g388f/NEE/
Someone already posted pre-rooted firmware for your device , but do at your own risk because maybe that firmware will cause problem on your device !

Hi.
I followed your advice, but it didnt work.
When i flashed 4.4 then it got stuck on samsung logo, so i flashed back to 5.1 and i am now at point 1 again
Any other suggestions?

Hi , once again , try first to enable Enable USB Debugging you have on the internet about that , and try with other Kitkit version. Once you flash go to recovery mode and wipe cache partition .

Hi.
I have had USB debugging checked from start.
But nothing work, not even trying different types of firmware.
I'm on the brink to give up now, nothing I have tryed have worked, can it be unroot able?
My kid will be dissapointed, thanks for all the great advices you have given me.
And if anyone have other thougts of what to do i'm open to try it.

Hi.
Here is the hacked together twrp that works on sm-g388f lollipop 5.1. This is the only version that works, so don't update it. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69813173&postcount=135
Rooting can be done by using the method that is provided on Samsung Xcover3 Development thread, by Matt07211 on the first post.
I recommend to read, especially those 3 first post very thoroughly and all the links that are in those posts.
You will find files for rooting, custom kernel and a version of xposed that works on g388f.
There is no custom roms for this device but if you do modifications that can be done with information provided in the developing thread, you'll have a device that has enough of free space, better batterylife, fairly good performance and holds up even in a more rough way of using a phone.

Hi , i have one question , i bought a galaxy xcover 3 from a guy , i was checking up the phone ect , magisk was installed exposed seems also ( i will tell you why ) but both of them have no user interface , ( i can see magisk as com.topjohnwu.magisk) , but there is no magisk app nor manager ( i checked all apps if its repacked ) also the mock app works ( guy used to work as delivery ) so fake gps works but also there is nothing shows xposed is installed ? how can that be possible ? or .. can you delete the app ( magisk and xposed ) after rooting and everything ?

Phone stuck at download mode

i have s3. i rooted the phone then tried to install flash miui v5 via with but failed -i guess- because phone is lack of cwm. so i installed cwm but the phone wouldnt boot to recover mode, instead there was always original recovery mode. so i tried again and again but still anything change. then i tried to unlock bootloder with a app named ez lock i guess i did it but after something my phone went to download mode by itself and there is nothing else. top left there is no version info. just download mode with a green android guy. i removed battery and take it back, and tried to open download mode again there was infos top left screen this time. but when i tried to enter recovery mode it just load something in cwm recovery then there is again download mode without infos top left.
now im downloading stock rom, hope it'll work. is there anything else i can do guys? please help me, im not good at this stuff..
Tried to Flash stock firmware ?
sent from the state where marijuana is NOT illegal !!
Bootloader ??? do you actually have a I9300 as bootloader is not locked .
please help me, im not good at this stuff.. That would be due to not bothering to read the faqs and guides first .
My guess is that you have bricked your phone and need a paid for service repair .
i tried to flash to stock rom with odin, but somehow it failed to flash :S then phone stucked at a screen that says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies & try again. then i found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261153 and my phone opened.
i have a question though, why didnt cwm open in the phone? if it had opened i would've install miui
Things went wrong because you didn't read or follow the many guides on XDA that other members wrote to help you. Guessing what to do can be very expensive.
CWM didn't open because you flashed in onto a stock ROM, which immediately restored a stock recovery.

First, pull the battery. Now what version of KitKat was installed on you device before you tried to flash a rom on your device? Next what rom are you trying to flash on the device ? Did you try and install the recovery that comes with the rom manager ? It is way out of date !!! Here is my thread read through it first http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/general/samsung-note-3-rom-flashin-basics-t2896440 now reinstall battery then boot into download mode and odin flash the rom you want. Which should be done after you have made a copy of your stock rooted OS. That way you have a backup in case something goes wrong !!!
i pulled battery out then back in pressed home, power, volume down, its asked volume down to cancel , volume up to install rom. i press volume down but does the same all over again..
i have kit kat, and yes i went into recovery mode with rom manager, did not know it was out of date.
ok ill follow your steps jimz and thank you for getting back to me.

OK your almost there, after you reinstall the battery. Press the power button, volume down, and menu button at the same time. A new screen will come up then press the volume up button only, now you are in download mode. ( some people call it odin mode it's the place where you flash/install roms in the device) Next bring up odin on your PC then then connect your device via the charging cable. Now click on PDA then open the OS you want flash. Then don't touch anything else and click start.
That was fast and dirty just go back to the thread for more info. Enjoy !!!
jims thanks for helping me trying to get my phone back up and running, can i ask you a question. i want to flash CyanogenMod 12 for my sprint note 3 . can you send me a link of the right C.M. version , im afraid of downloading the wrong version and damaging the phone again.. there are so many links out there it gets confusing. thank you

Here is the link for CM12 that is not a nightly build http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/hlte-spr-vzw-temaseks-unofficial-t2953375 and here is the link to the zip file for your device https://s.basketbuild.com/devs/temasek/Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - HLTESPR/CM12 just click download place the zip on your sd card, wipe system, wipe cache and delvik cache and flash through your recovery. ( make sure you have a backup of your stock rooted rom first ) Remember it is CM 12 some features may not work. But if your a CM fan this is the best one out there.
Here is the link to add in the Google apps http://forum.xda-developers.com/par...apps-official-to-date-pa-google-apps-t2943900 I would go with the MINI MODULAR PACKAGE just click on Basketbuild then click on download for the zip file. Place on sd card wipe cache and delvik cache then install the zip file this will give you the basic Google apps. But you can always go with the full Google package that gives you a lot of junk you won't use, which kinda defeats the purpose . Enjoy !!!

Ya, it does that sometimes. You can do a quick scan with your anti virus program. But most of the time that's normal, because your PC does not recognize the program as something you normally use. I use odin v 1.85 it is a little older but very stable here is a link https://mega.co.nz/#!oA5xzTAL!LXoVWB...ZlOMSWdRGVX6Uo this is my mega site no virus there.

Galaxy SIII i9300 Recovery clockwordmode problem

Hello
im trying to flash the recovery i have the galaxy s3 i9300 international actually says EU model wich means that works only with EU sim cards !! i have download the correct recovery file odin3v185 and i fallow all the steps ( installed drivers kies for windows 8.1 - usb debugging - power button + volume down for download mode and volume up button - blue on odin and its written added - and auto reboot is checked also apd select the apd and the tar file << CWM_6.0.4.7_Touch_GT-I9300 >> ) !! odin says recovery – pass green 0:05 !! but there is no recovery only the stock one in a strage way im going to the download mode again and there says 4 files downloaded … cause i tried 4 times….but no clockwordmode recovery !! i dont wanna root it just to have the recovery instead to back up my stock rom samsung's one and install the << cm-11-20141115-SNAPSHOT-M12-i9300 >> can you explain what should i do i need some help?? thank you very much !!
Imho stock kernel restores stock-recovery everytime. So you've to root. And if you do, choice TWRP-recovery. CWM is obsolete.
thank you for your replay !! so as you told me i understood that i have to root first... but i have read that instead to flash the TWRP or the CWM its not necessary to root my phone !!
So can you explain to me why it goes back to stock recovery and why its necessary to root??
and probably to give a step by step guide to fall to proceed to root cause i have read different articles and im confused now!!
thank you again!!
<<On some S3 models, there is a script that overwrites the recovery you flashed. If you get stock recovery, just simply flash recovery again using ODIN, as soon as you see “PASS!”, pull the battery before your phone reboots. Then do the buttons to get into CWM recovery and do the rest of the root instructions.
Put the battery back in and boot straight into CWM recovery, then when you reboot in CWM recovery, it will ask you to disable recovery script. Do that and you should be good to go.>>
Thank you again !! for me after that step works perfect !!

Don't understand this, but practically: by interrupting reboot after flash, you got custom-recovery without rooting?
Hi yes you can install CWM without root !!! i knew it before posting here and i couldnt understood why its not working!! i dont know why i never read that note probably cause it is in a root guide!! and not mentioned in most videos!! its not important to be rooted instead to install CWM !! this step that i past in my replay its coped from galaxys3root . com But cause i am a new member i couldn't paste the link here too !! its written there as a note in frequently asked questions under steps for rooting thas why its says after that proceed with root !! As it says some galaxy s3 models have this script and thats why this step with battery should be done !!
I have to say that cm-11-20150614-NIGHTLY-i9300 has some "lags" not something to be afraid but some freezes i thing !! and as a user with stock samsung's 4.3 android now the last hours i have nothing missed from that its complete!! i just thing to install cm-11-20141115-SNAPSHOT-M12-i9300 just to be more stable !!

G925I boots into stock recovery even after flashing TWRP/Philz.

Android version: 5.1.1 (G925i)
Build: DOL5
Stock
I just flashed twrp for 5.1.1 on my edge, everything went perfectly. But when I try to enter the recovery mode, It boots into stock recovery even after flashing twrp.
I have tried odin 3.10.6, 3.10.7
I have also tried couple twrp and philz.
1. Flash recovery with Odin (AP) but *first set don't reboot in Odin*.
Go into Download Mode and flash the recovery.
2. Manually reboot with vol down + home + power. You will see Download Mode again.
Press cancel (vol down) .
At the time of reboot quickly press vol up + power + home.
3. Ready! You should now be into custom recovery!
The problem was that if you let the phone reboot into system just after flashing a custom recovery, the system will overwrite that and return to stock.
You must enter into the new recovery straight away.
Also use Odin 3.10.6
Hope it helps. Let me know.

Thanks for replying.
I tried it, but there was an error "recovery is not sendroid enforcing"
Phone still boots fine.
Okay then. Please follow this link and read very carefully especially posts #1 and #4
That problem is because you need a custom kernel to flash TWRP.
You can also root with this method at the same time.
Let me know.

Is your Knox still intact?
BE CAREFUL! THIS WILL TRIGGER KNOX!!
Well I am very sure that you have triggered KNOX already by flashing TWRP...unless you are using an engineered bootloader.

So, I did just as the guy suggested.
I flashed twrp (without rebooting)
Tried to enter recovery (by the same method as shown in the post)
And am Getting same error, Recovery is not sendroid enforcing.
(I used the twrp provided in his post)
I am already out of warranty, so not big of an issue for me
You must follow all the steps mate.
You must also flash the custom kernel and flash SuperSu.
Especially the kernel you must flash so that the custom recovery will work.
Just follow the all the instructions in the first post please.
Try also to read a bit of the thread so you will understand what goes on.
Try and read the first 5 pages and the last 5 pages.

I did follow all the steps.
See, the problem is that I can not even boot into recovery. I get an error "recovery is sendroid enforcing"
First I need to boot into twrp to flash super su and kernel. But my doesnt want to boot into twrp, instead it saying recovery is sendroid enforcing, and turns off.
Edit: I read first 10 and last 10 pages but have not found anything that could help
Are you sure that you can't get into recovery (stock even) and do a factory reset?
If not you are going to have to flash your firmware in Odin again.
Alternatively you can try and download Smart Switch, install to PC, (don't plug phone yet), go to Emergency Recovery and choose the tab on the right, insert your model name, but then you need your S/N.
This should be printed on the back of the phone. If not it was on a little sticker at the back when you bought the phone.
If you can get the S/N you can then follow instructions from the application.
Best is to really trying to get into recovery like I explained and if not just flash the firmware in Odin.

Yes perhaps. Have you read 2 posts before that I posted?

Will try. But dont think if that will solve.
Maybe custom recoveries dont support new updates.
Please read posts #174, #180, and #181 on the link I gave you.
According to this it is normal and that user can get into TWRP recovery.
You must look at what you may be doing wrong.
Read again the post #4 on how to properly flash everything and boot into recovery.
So did you get it right mate?
I just used the same method as you and I can get into TWRP.
You must be very quick when rebooting from Download Mode to Recovery.
Change from vol down to vol up just as the screen goes off

Help! Samsung Galaxy S5 is stuck in custom recovery bootloop, only download mode.

Help! So I rooted my Galaxy s5 using CF-auto-root and SuperSU and I flashed what I thought was CWM recovery from XDA, I installed mod manager which I then gave access to boot to recovery and now my phone is stuck in a custom recovery bootloop. Only if I remove the battery as it's about to turn off can I access download mode by holding relevant buttons but I am concerned that I have bricked my phone because there seems to be no stock recovery any more. Also mod manager listed TWRP as installed as well as CWM. Any help as to what I can flash through download mode or change files on my computer to help this problem would be appreciated. Extra Details:
Model Number: SM-G900F

flash the stock firmware from sammobile.com/firmwares via odim, it packs the stock recovery also
You will have to flash the full stock firmware and start all over from scratch. Also don't waste your time with CWM. It is outdated and has not been updated in years.

Thanks for that point about CWM - no wonder it's caused problems. If I can't fix the problem I was considering buying a new phone anyway hence me rooting my phone and flashing ROMs but I'll flash the full firmware from Samsung's website.

Think that was given is not Samsung site. It is by someone else and we don't advise it's use.
It won't be hard to fix it but understand it will completely wipe your device.

I did make a copy of all my android files before rooting and took pictures etc off it. Ah, I see. Well even if it's the correct firmware I'd rather at least try that - any working phone is better than one with files stuck in a faulty recovery boot-loop.

Edit: SuperSU says my device is no longer rooted, I guess it's okay to flash CF-Auto-Root again?
Edit: I flashed the auto-root again and it's rooted, I just need to be more careful with an updated custom recovery.
